How to Migrate VM Server pool to Other Oracle VM Manager

Hi,
I want to move oracle server pool from One Oracle VM Manager to other VM manager.
Can any one help me on how to migrate vm server pool to other VM Manager.
Thanks & Regards
YJR

Hi,
unfortunately I don't know of an easy supported way.
The process itself is pretty similar to migrating serverpools to Enterprise Manager as described in this note:
Migrating from Oracle VM Manager to Enterprise Manager Grid Control (Doc ID 807091.1)
With the exception that you simply register the new pool in a new manager and then have to rediscover all VMs.
So overall it is a simple "delete serverpool" and "create serverpool" with additional import of virtual machines.
If during this steps a problem arise, you still can deconfigure everything and reregister with the new manager (with the help of cleanup.py).

I don't think you can do it without a shutdown. This also depends on the types of services, roles etc hosted on the server.

  • Migrating SQL Server 7.0 to Oracle 8i in Different Operating Systems

I am migrating SQL Server 7.0 Databases on NT to Oracle 8i on Sun 2.6. Is there is any other way other then Migration Workbench.
If Mig Workbench is OK. What are the steps to do Migration.
    null

    Hi,
You can perform this action with the Oracle Migration Workbench. Just install the Workbench on the same machine as your SQL Server database.
You can then configure the workbench to point to the oracle database on your Sun machine.
You can use the Oracle database on your Sun machine for both your destination database (the database to which you migrate your SQL Server schema and data) and workbench repository.
In order to do this you will need to configure a tnsnames.ora entry. The tool that will do this configuration for you should be started up at the end of the workbench installation. It is a fairly straightfoward process.
You then need to create a user in your oracle database that will store the workbench repository.
Once you have comleted these steps you will be able to migrate SQL Server on NT to Oracle on Sun.
It is exactly the same process as migrating to Oracle on NT except you are pointing the Workbench to Oracle on a Sun box.

  • How to migrate data from MS Access to Oracle???????

how to migrate data from MS Access to Oracle???????

You can use heterogeneous services (HS) connection to MS-Access from Oracle and still use the same PL/SQL (or even a single CTAS statement) or SQL to load directly to Oracle tables. It's transparent, quick and clean as opposed to writing complex control files.
You might have to set the ODBC connection to your Access database and add the details to Oracle listener.
Please let me know if you are not sure how to set up the connection.

    HI
if you r working in Sap enterprise portal use for connection url
    jdbc:sap:sqlserver://ilsql01.tlv.sap.corp:1433;DatabaseName=Northwind
ilsql01.tlv.sap.corp:1433 this is your portal url with port number
    Northwind is your database name.
for dirver you need to give
    com.sap.portals.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
in case if you r working on other than sap say windows along with oracle try to use
    Connection URL as jdbc:oracle:<drivertype>:@<database>
    Driver name as oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    ex jdbc:oracle:thick:@localhost:3036:mydb
Oracle implements two types of JDBC drivers:
Thick JDBC drivers built on top of the C-based Net8 client, as well as a Thin (Pure Java) JDBC driver to support downloadable applets. Oracle JDBC drivers are used to create JDBC applications to communicate with Oracle databases.
Oracle extensions to JDBC include the following features:
    Data access and manipulation
    LOB access and manipulation
    Oracle object type mapping
    Object reference access and manipulation
    Array access and manipulation
    Application performance enhancement

  • How to migrate File server to NAS device?

All right so here's the scenario.
An external forest level trust is setup between two forests A & B as recently as we acquired the company B.
Users from forest B were already migrated to domain A.
Now I need to migrate file server from domain B to my domain A but the target where we need to move file shares is a NAS device, so basically we cannot do a simple server migration from domain B to domain A.
We need to copy over the data+ACL+Share permissions from fileserver in domain B to a NAS device in domain A whereas of course ACL permissions on file server present in domain B will obviously be as per source domain user accounts, example ACL permissions
    currently will show as "B\user1".
So whats the best way to perform this in order to maintain the permissions & data.
Another question how do we copy share permissions from file server to NAS as I can robocopy the data with security permissions but how to copy over all the share permissions to destination NAS?

    Hi,
You need to retain the SID History attribute when users across domains to ensure users in the target domain can access to files during migration.
For more detailed information, please refer to the threads below:

In additional, you could backup registry key SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Shares to copy share permissions.

  • How to migrate Project Server 2003 to Project Online?

    Hi Guys,
    Is it possible to migrate Project Server 2003 to Project Online directly? I heard we normally have to take 3 hops for this;
    1. Project Server 2003 - Project Server 2007 migration.
    2. Project Server 2007 - Project Server 2010 migration.
    3. Finally, Project Server 2010 - Project Online migration.
Is there a migration tool we can use to simply jump from Project Server 2003 to Project Online?
    Thank You,
    Arnel

NO, directly you can not migrate. You have to follow the sequence
    1. Project Server 2003 to project server 2007
    2. Project Server 2007 to project server 2010
    3. Project Server 2010 to project server 2013 online.
Unfortunately we dont have nay tool which will help us to do this .
Microsoft has a virtual machine (2007) that you can use to jump to 2007. Basically the databases of 2003 must be converted to 2007. Once this is done (database at 2007) you can use this database as start point to be converted to 2010.
Microsoft has virtual machine for 2010 too if you want you can use it rather than creating your own environment.
Don't use 2007 backward compatibility mode in 2010, we experienced some issues with it.

  • How to migrate application server from Tomcat to WebSphere?

    Hi,
I installed BO XI 3.1 32 bit in environment:
    - AIX 5.3 64 bit
    - Deployed Tomcat 5.5 from installing BO
    - Oracle client 10G
I need to migrate application server from Tomcat to WebSphere 6.1 and WebSphere 6.1 Server 32 bit in Windows platform.
Could you someone give detail steps
Many thanks in advance and best regards,

I tried manually to deploy web applications, but not successful. This is my deployment step following:
    AIX 5.3: BOE XI 3.1 :
Copy all <INSTALLDIR>/bobje/enterprise120/java/applications/  to Windows Websphere D:\BO_WAS
    WebSphere 6.1 location & IP (windows) :
    C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer1\
    IP: 192.168.69.10
Log in to WebSphere Applicaton Server Administrative http://192.168.69.10:9060/admin
    1. Under the Applications heading of the console navigation menu, click
Enterprise Applications on the left navigational pane.
    2. Click the Install button and navigate to the location of the WAR file to
deploy. If deploying from a remote file system, select the Remote File
    System option.
    3. Enter a context root for the WAR file (e.g. /CmcApp for CmcApp.war)
(this format (/CmcApp) for Unix OS, have different in Windows ? Could you give me fully path?)
    and
press the Next button, followed by Continue.
    4. In "Step 1", give a unique name for your web application and proceed to
    "Step 2".
    5. Highlight the server you created (or highlight server1 if you didn't create
your own) from the Clusters and Servers and enable the Select
    checkbox. Proceed to "Step 3".
    6. Select the virtual host you created (or default_host if you didn't create
your own) from the Virtual Host drop-down list. Proceed to "Step 4".
    7. Review the summary page, and press Finish when done.
    8. Click Save to Master Configuration.
    9. Click the Save link, then the Save button.
Finally the output is not available.
Many thanks in advance and best regards

  • Migrate SQL Server 7.0 to Oracle 8i - Any known issues??

    Hi,
I am in the process of migrating SQL Server database to Oracle 8i for testing purpose. When I do migrate SQL Server database to Oracle 8i, am I doing any harm to the exiting SQL Server database? Would the users be able to use SQL Server database as usual?? Are there any known issues in this regard?
    Please reply.
    Thanks.
    Ramesh

The Migration Workbench copys the information it requires from the source database and stores it in the Migration Workbench Repository, which is separate from the Source database. So, to answer your question, yes, the users can continue to use the SQL Server database. The data move may cause some system performance degradation. It may also be an idea to replicate the SQL Server database, in case any complication should arise.
    Hope this helps
    Dan
