Hi everyone.
I have been requested to deploy a War file as Webservice on Weblogic Server 10.0.3 (installed on Redhat EL 5.0, I used Sun jdk 1.0.6 distributed along with installer bin file). This file
was run well on TOMCAT 5.0.28 server.When hacking into this WAR file I know it use Xfire(1.2.2) as a base to construct Webservice, hibernate(3.0) to mapping with database (it use only a
services.xml putting on META_INF to describe service as far as I know). Firstly, I use Adminstration Console, go to deployment link and deploy as this tool say, the result in Adminstration
Console tell me I had deployed succedfully but when I digged into exploded directory of WAR file, I can not see any .class file under WEB_INF directory and my client actually can not access provided services. I thought there is problem when use Application Console to deploy so I switch to use other tool like wlst or ant task but result is the same. Finally, I had to upload WAR file, use jar to extract WAR file to a directory and use Adminstration Console to deploy the whole directory as a Web Application. All class file are under WEB_INF directory. But when I use a client to access services I got exception as below on WebBrowser
Could not invoke service.. Nested exception is org.codehaus.xfire.fault.XFireFault: Fault: java.lang.NullPointerException
and no more detail (or I do not known where to get log file). Because I am just a system maintainer and do not know much a bout J2EE Webservice specification, I just read some materials
and know that WebLogic support Web Services 2.1 (JAX-WS) and XML-Based RPC 1.1 (JAX-RPC). So I desire to know some thing below:
1) What kind of Webservice in WAR file do I have (Web Services 2.1 (JAX-WS) and XML-Based RPC 1.1 (JAX-RPC) or something WebLogic do not support?
2) How to migrate my WAR file to Weblogic by a very common way?
3) How to get log to make more detail about exception above on WebLogic (does log4j archive this work?) ?

Hi all,
May be I found the problem. The compatibility between Weblogic and hibernate 3.0 relating to antlr-2.7.5H3.jar library. Although I include all application's jar file in CLASSPATH when start server
but Weblogic seem not to see my antlr-2.7.5H3.jar and use its default antlr library instead. So I set my antlr-2.7.5H3.jar directly into PRE_CLASSPATH variable on $DOMAIN_HOME/lib/setDomainEnv.sh
file like below:
PRE_CLASSPATH="$DOMAIN_HOME/lib/antlr-2.7.5H3.jar"
export PRE_CLASSPATH
By now my application use the desired lib and Webservice work fine.
But I wonder if this is a good solution, is there any other good practice to set CLASSPATH for this situation? setting PRE_CLASSPATH is correct point and having no affection to the whole domain
in the case there are more application reside in the domain?

I just wanted to know whether there is a link you could provide me with a link or guidelines in which I could find how to migrate my application in JBoss to WebLogic. I have been reading in the forum but I haven't found it.

I'm sorry you feel like the forums have not been helpful. One thing to keep in mind is that forums are all volunteer-only. There are no SLA's or people that have a dedicated job to respond to forum posts like you will find with Oracle Support Service Requests. Therefore the best way to benefit from the forums is to ask succinct clear questions with an appropriate subject line that shows you have done some research, but still need a little help. If you are using JSP as your mechanism for content display, you should use
the contentType parameter to specify the character and coding of the JSP
page any character encoding of the resulting stream. So far, we have not
done a good job of documenting how to produce localized content in JSP. I
have filed an issue for the documentation folks to work on it. For now,
take a look at section 2.7.4 of the JSP specification version 1.1.

I try to add something in weblogic.xml, but the problem is I cannot find weblogic.xml in Jdeveloper.
How to edit weblogic.xml in Jdeveloper? Thanks in advanced.

The weblogic.xml file is generated at deploy time if it doesn't exist in your application. To create it specifically in your application at design time for editing, select the appropriate project then the New option, from the New Gallery select General -> Deployment Descriptors -> Weblogic Deployment Descriptor, and in the resulting dialog select the weblogic.xml file. It will be added to the project -> Web Content -> WEB-INF directory.

You need to open up a terminal session (Try xterm).
Change the directory to wherever you installed Weblogic (/home/Weblogic/) or
something along those lines. (cd is the command that you want)
Run the scripts located in that directory as specified in the Unix
documentation.

Looks like the protocol is not correct (Unable to connect to 'http://localhost:7001': Destination unreachable)
Could you try the t3 protocol, for example,

You're right: Weblogic supports Apache web server 2.0 and 2.2 to be a proxy server but you are using Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1.0 which is based on Apache *1.3* as you can read in "Oracle® HTTP Server Administrator's Guide"
10g (10.1.3.1.0) - Part Number B28948-01 - 1.1 Oracle HTTP Server Features, right under "Based on Apache - HTTP v1.1 Support" at
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28948/overview.htm#i1008837.
As far as I know, the only OHS based on Apache *2.0* is available as a standalone release: "Oracle HTTP Server (Apache 2.0) (10.1.3.3.0) for Linux x86" - 32bit. You can download it from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle11g/111060_linuxsoft.html (as_101330_apache2_lnx.zip).
I've tested it successfully.

How to start Weblogic 10.3.5 managed server on port 80

Hello,
We're trying to understand how to start Weblogic as root so we can start on port 80 on Linux. We understand that we'll use the post bind UID to run as a non-priv user. Right now in the Admin console under the managed server, Server Start properties (node manager) we have the weblogic user as the user to start the server, which works. Is this where we'd put the root user? We tried that but it fails complaining about root user didn't have permission to start the server. Can someone shed some light?

1. You are asking for 2 things here:
a) Start Weblogic as root user ?
Before I answer this question, who (Which User) installed Weblogic Software and who created Domain. I hope its NOT root user. Usually its not preferable to use root account for this. Instead create a new user account like for example oracle or some xyz. Then login with that account. Install Weblogic and create any Domain. I would NOT prefer/recommend using root account to install weblogic. This means, I would not recommend/support to start weblogic as root user. The thing is when you install weblogic, it stores/creates lots of files/scripts. Now when you start, it has to be same user. Because at the startup, we need to read files and also CREATE lots of temp files under domain root folder. So on unix, this becomes very complex. Simple answer is if you install weblogic and domain with user say "xyz" and try to start domain with "root", you corrupted your entire domain. Some files gets changed to root user and some files just FAIL saying you do not have permissions. So its just gone. If you are a Unix Geek, do some magic and restore all permissions back.
b) Start Weblogic at Port 80
Very Simple. Forget about above thing. Install Weblogic and create domain say with user "xyz". Just go to domain root folder, open config/config.xml file and edit the localport to 80. By default at time of domain creation if you used all the defaults like port 7001, then you will NOT see this entry in config.xml file. But still you can edit config.xml file manually. Stop the servers. Add a section with listen-port as 80. Just refer docs for the steps. After this change, your weblogic server is now running at port 80. NOW, the main precautions is make sure that you do NOT have any other stuff running at the same port 80. Otherwise, Weblogic server startup will fail saying port 80 is already is in use.
Now if you want both a) and b), still it is possible. But I would NOT want/recommend a), which is use "root" account to install weblogic server and create and start the Domain. Nope, totally not recommending and supporting this. Yes, port 80 can be used, but not the "root" account.

I write the logmodule class, configuration class, Action class, client class
and my policy file my.policy.
I add the VM parameter when I start weblogic server
"-Djava.security.auth.policy=D:\bea\wlserver6.1/lib/my.policy"
But I don't know how to let weblogic server know my configuration class, so
that the server will create it when my client code create LoginContext
object.
Some artical told me that add the configuration class name in java.security
file, like the following
login.configuration.provider=mypackage.myConfig
unfortunately, it don't work :(
I always got the exception message

Does anyone kindly tell me how to let the system know my configuration class
name?

Seems the problem is in my TestConfig.
I just copy the SampleConfig.java as my TestConfig.java (modified a
little) and copy the ConfigParser.java (those are in the
samples\examples\security\jaas\examples\security\jaas)
Any suggestion???
BTW, all the necessary classes is in the .war file.

I write the logmodule class, configuration class, Action class, clientclass
and my policy file my.policy.
I add the VM parameter when I start weblogic server
"-Djava.security.auth.policy=D:\bea\wlserver6.1/lib/my.policy"
But I don't know how to let weblogic server know my configuration class,so
that the server will create it when my client code create LoginContext
object.
Some artical told me that add the configuration class name in java.security
file, like the following

unfortunately, it don't work :(
I always got the exception message

Does anyone kindly tell me how to let the system know my configurationclass
