Similar thread listing all possible counters to monitor SQL server performance. Apart from
using perfmon counters you should first create a baseline for SQL Server. Understand your system, for some system 60 % CPU usage is normal for some 50 % might indicate issue. Know your system completely collect counter values when system is not under load
this would be your mark anything more than that would require your attention.
Reading errorlog/event viewer is also good in terms of performance monitoring.Please read below article by Jonathan it would help you

Hi sachin,
You can monitor your sattilite systems through solution manager.
If you want to monitor systems in solution manager means you need to configure those systems in solution manager.
Before including the systems in solution manager we need to create a solution using tcode DSWP.
After that you can include the systems using tcode SMSY.
For configuring the systems we have lot of phases its very difficult to explain here.
Try to login to service.sap.com and help.sap.com find the helpfull guides.

Hi Arman,
We monitor several data loads using Process chain monitor. Execute tcode RSPC ->Locate your process chain-> click on it-> then click on Log button-> here select proper date interval-> you will be able to see the log of process chain for that time interval.
OR you can use tcode RSPCM to monitor daily process chains.
Please note that we do all above in 'real BW world scenario'.
And when Loading time you will get maximum these type os errors....
1. Time stamp error.
sol: activate the data source and replicate the data source and load.
2. Data error in PSA.
sol: Modify the in PSA error data and load.
3. RFC connection failed.
sol: raise the ticket to BASIS team to provide the connection.
4. Short dump error.
sol: delete the request and load once again.
AND
5. Data locking when loading in parallel.
6. ODS activation failures.
7. Unrecognised characteristics.

How to monitor load on my database server ?

Hi Experts,
Could anybody please suggest me a way to monitor the load on my database server?
What perfmon counters should I monitor on daily basis and confirm that load on the server is increasing day by day [or] by week by week [or] every month. Also, suggest me if we can achieve this using DMV's so that we can store this info in a table using a SQL
agent job. Because a sql guy I would be more happy working with TSQL queries.
Do all this helps me, to put for forward my argument to the management that this server can handle this much of load based on data and incase if the load is increased on the server , we might need more resources ( like cpu, better storage , more RAM etc ...)
or move to a new server which has more power.
Also, please suggest any load testing tools so that I can test this on testing environment.

How can you load local server urls on application start?

Background:
I've been searching for close to two days for an answer to this question, it's full of gotchas and I can't quite get it figured out.
I have an application which contains several web services. These services load up listeners when the services are invoked which makes them available for input. The user has the option of disabling automatic load of these services and invoking them manually by typing in the local url and starting the app. The can allow the autoload which uses a the or allowing the auto load to start. Currently the local url is hardcoded in a property file and this is how the services knows the local endpoint to envoke when it autostarts.

This works all fine and well until it's deployed onto a machine that runs a local weblogic cluster that has more than one jvm (and multiple ports) loading the application up.
Problem
The question is, how can you get the applicaton to recoginize the local url for the jvm that is running which can be on different ports? Here's what I've tried
A - Using Inet.Address - This doesn't let you know what port your application is on
B - Using the load servlet on start up ( Only the init() function is called and the request object hasn't been created and the request object is what contains ther protocol, server and port information)
C - Loading a jsp page (READ... purposefully loading a jsp page) on application start. The thought here is that this contains a request object, but unfortunately on this doesn't work in my servlet container (currently tomcat 6 but the application is for a web logic machine)
D - I thought about possibly using System.properties() but no luck there
I'm at witts end on this one and I know there is something that can recoginze the local servlet container and extract the url and port from it.
Any suggestions would be great.

How to monitor a Process Server or a Queue?

We are using Redwood CPS as our Enterprise Scheduler.
In the recent months, the below issue has happened twice.
The error message I could read in the Redwood Process Server Log is below
JCS-116011: Permanent communication failure: Unknown Host : HOST.domain.com
I am not sure what breaks the connection.
Two Questions that run in my mind:
1. Does this issue directly relate to any known issue anyone aware of?
2. How do I setup monitoring on the Process Server or a Queue so that when they go down I get an e-mail or something at least?
Can someone guide me please?

Build M33.106 is not available in service market place yet.
SAP informed that customer can not find information on the next build release date from Product Availability Matrix (PAM) or anywhere from SAP site.
Is there a way to get his information from Redwood site? Like when is the expected date for next release of the build?

Hi everyone. We are using a shop floor application to record the movement of parts and assemblies throughout the plant as operation sequences are performed by the workers. It's a custom telnet server that receives connections via computers on the shop floor. Its not perfectly stable, but its usually at night when it fails. I'm the IT Manager and the entire IT Department, and it's part of my job to get it running again when it has failed, and sometimes that means a call at 6am from a shop supervisor telling me "MAXDC is down again."
I need a way to monitor TCP port 23 on that server, but I haven't figured out how, especially with Spiceworks. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I don't want to spend money on this, considering it's just a single server/port I need to monitor like this. Anyone?

What would be the best option to monitor the load on AP live? Is there a GUI tool for this or should I use command line interface? I was hoping that CNA would do this, but the AIR-SAP1602I.EK9 does not seem to be supported by the CNA. CCP seems to be another application, would this do what I want?

I'm running Tuxedo 10gR3 and observed in OS level that GWWS process alone consume more than 10% of CPU all the time and some slowness are claimed by users.
I need to check if this is normal (CPU %) by checking the load on GWWS and if needed to create multiple GWWS to distribute the load.

You can do this via NSClient as Gary posted. The NSClient is a communications system that allows nagios to send commands to a target system over the nsclient protocol and they are executed on the remote system. How to monitor Library Server storage?

I can't figure out how to monitor the Library Server storage in VMM console. The VMM server is the only library server and it's using an iSCSI lun.
I just want to know how much space is available on the storage for the library server.

I am using Hyperion v11.1.1.1.0.
I want to install FDM 11.1.1.
Will it work fine with hyperion 11.1.1.1.0?
It is written in the documentation that we need to install & configure Load Balance Server
properly prior to installing FDM.
How to install Load balance server and from where will I get the software for Load balance server?

As Gilles said you need to make sure that the return traffic from the real server should come back to CSS.
Your routing infrastructure should ensure that flow should be the following for both "real server in the same DC" & "Real Server in Different DC".
1. Client Traffic should hit the VIP configured on CSS.
2. CSS should forward the client request to the Selected Real Server.
3. Real Server's Response should reach CSS. (It should not go to Client directly)
4. CSS should send the response on Real Server's behalf.
As long as the above conditions are met you are fine. Step 3 is the key and becomes could become tricky for Remote Real Servers.

How to redirect to a server busy page when under heavy load

 I have been doing extensive load testing of a web application using Weblogic
 5.10 sp 06. I have found a point where under extremly heavy load the server
 just does not respond anymore. Fair enough.
 What I want to do is at a certain load level (before it stops responding) I
 want to redirect users to a "Server Busy - try again later" page. Is there a
 setting in weblogic that allows me to do this ? Or do I need to have other
 monitoring software to take care of this ?

The question was how to use OEM, not behind a load balancer, to monitor other targets which are behind one or different load balancers.
For example, to monitor :
Forms on server A and B behind load balancer LB1.
Forms on server C and D behind load balancer LB1.

You used to be able to see what the VUs "see" using the "VU Monitor" (it would only do a simple rendering of the HTML but it served it's purpose). However this was replaced (in v12 I think?) by the "VU Log". While this offers simlilar functionality, I have had problems getting to see the same level of detail. You may need to use the "debug" modes. Also check the "Content" tab within the VU Logs (it is the closest equivalent to the HTML you would see in the responses in the old VU Monitor).
