How to open a html file in a region on same page
Hi,
I am trying to create a page where I have 2 regions.
The left region,"lef_reg" has been created using HTML contains some text values.
The right region, "rig_reg" is blank.
I want that if a user clicks on a link on the left region (lef_reg) then a corresponding html page should appear in the right region (rig_reg). The corresponding HTML that I am talking about is saved as a static file in the shared component.
I am extremely new to APEX hence would request the solution be a little bit detailed.
Thanks in advance
it seems you want to do it using Application Express. right?
then you may want to post your question in the [Oracle APEX forum|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=137] here.

How to open a local file from javascript in a jsp-page
Hi
I have created an iview from a PAR file. In the par file I have a jsp-page with some javascript code. From the javascript coe I want to open a new window with an Excel file.
I have tried window.open("c:
test.xls", "test_window"), but it doesn't seem to work. I have created a small HTML page locally with the same command and there a new window opens with the Excel file.
If I change the local file path with an URL it also works.
Any idea how to open a local file ?
Thanks
/JakobJacob,
I'm not 100% (but 99,9%) and it has to do with security ristrictions of the browser not allowing to have local workstation interation from the web. This is ofcourse very dangerous if the browser would allow it... So therfore it is blocked. What if somone would point to a file/executable that formats your drive so for that reason it is not allowed to have web interaction with a local file. Only with Java Applets this is possible but still with many limitations, and what I remember Google Gears and Adobe Air do have some limited web 2 local file interaction... So best and most simple solution you are left with is pointing to a url instead of a file on a c:\ drive.
PS The reason why it works when you start the html from your local PC has todo with the fact that the browser detects that the html is not running in the web at that moment therefor allowing the access.
Cheers,

How to open a link from search engine in the same page
I just noticed that my links are opening in new windows instead of on the same page on Safari. Is there anyway I can change it back to where if I click on a link in the Yahoo search engine that it would just open within the same page without opening a new tab or window, where I can go back and forth between pages? For example, say I type in "wikipedia" on Yahoo home page and click search. Then it takes me to the Yahoo! Search Results page with a link to the Wikipedia website. When I click on that link, the Wikipedia home page loads right within the same page instead of opening a new tab or window and loading into that new tab or window. If I wanted to go back to the search results, I can just click the back button. I remember Safari doing that before, is there anyway to get back to that? Thanks.
You can set the Integer pref <b>browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external</b> to "<i>1</i>" on the <b>about:config</b> page.
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:config
The browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external pref uses the same values as this pref for JavaScript window.open() calls.

How to open a html file from hard disk
Hello everyone,
i want to display a html file by using java applet.
This is my current coding:
package mkbe.pg;
import java.net.*;
import java.applet.*;
public class HtmlReader extends Applet
URL userUrl;
public void start()
try{
userUrl = new URL(getDocumentBase(),"FILE:///c://2007/index.htm");
}catch(MalformedURLException error){
System.out.println("Error");
getAppletContext().showDocument(userUrl,"_blank");
}the program have no error and warning and the applet did run by appletviewer but the html file did'nt open.
Is it there's mistake in my coding?
If there is please tell me how to repair it.
ThanksFor an applet to read from a client's harddrive it will need permission.
This can be done by putting the applet in a jar file and signing it,
or by using the poiclytool to change the java.policy file to give FilePermission. -
How do I Open an HTML file for iOS?
How do I open an HTML file for iOS using acrobat?
This is a forum for Adobe Reader for iOS. Acrobat doesn't run on iOS. You need to run it on a Mac or Windows computer. In Acrobat, you can choose File > Create > PDF from Web Page to do what you want. You cannot do that in iOS.

How do I reinstall iWeb 3.0.3? I inadvertently opened an html file of my website and tried to open it with iWeb '09. I get a message saying “Can’t open file” etc., etc. I’ve tried reinstalling the updated version. Iweb will not open.
Delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder. Then launch iWeb and see if it opens.
What happened was trying to open the html file reset the file path that iWeb saves in its preference file to tell it where to go when you launch iWeb. Deleting the pref file and launching iWeb creates a new file and iWeb looks in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder for the Domain.sites2 file it uses to create your site.

when opening an HTML file recently my Firefox automatically opens up a yahoo search screen and the file, the entire file name and route for the file is searched for online. I don't even use Yahoo Search i use Google but that doesn't mater have to open the file manually with searching it on on the open screen to read it because it's trying to search for it online instead of reading it from where i clicked on it.
I.E.

is for but it's never done this before.Please read this article about restoring bookmarks:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks
As far as your passwords are concerned, I don't think there's anything you can do. But for the future, you can use the following add-ons to avoid any future loss:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2848/
or
http://www.xmarks.com/
Both are good.
And a simple way to import your bookmarks (since you already saved it on your desktop as html) is:
Bookmarks / Organized Bookmarks / Import and Export
Good luck. -
Open my html file and cannot edit it
When I open my html file from Flash, in view design all I get is a grey box with the Flash symbol in the middle and no html tools.
I want to link some of my buttons but if I go into view live I get html tools but I still can't access them to make links.
How do I get my html page so that I can make my links?
ForrestYour next button can still do that. But it has to be programmed within Flash. Flash files are not natively handled by Dreamweaver. You have to export them in order to place them on a website within Dreamweaver.
The only way that Dreamweaver can do this for you is if you create a button in Dreamweaver which does this action for you outside of the Flash area. Then this button can link to another page or Flash file. But if the button resides within the Flash file then it must be edited with Flash. -

Opening an HTML file stored locally
Hello fellows,
Is it possible to open a locally stored HTML file using Acro javascript?
If, yes, how to make Acrobat/Reader open the HTML file only once, when the rights-enabled PDF is opened for the 1st time?
Thank you for your responses in advance!Reader cannot open HTML files even manually. You can use JavaScript in Acrobat to convert an HTML file to PDF, but only from a privileged context: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/11/Acrobat11_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.89.164.html

How to call a html file in a java file
how to call a html file inside a java file ?
Hopeless. Are you by any chance a rare gas? You seem completely inert. LOL You totally pwned him there :rolls eyes:
well, no, I think he's looking for something to this degree:
in HTML, there is a mailto: command that makes the system default handled way to email emails open up. He's looking for a command thats very nice and opens a html file in the system default browser.
So, Dick, Runtime.exec would work execpt that he needs a way to find the default system browser to call exec on, AND he has to know how to pass html file locations to the executable via command line arguments
He just didnt try to phrase it at all :P -

Looking forward for your kind suggestions......1) Did you write that code? If yes, proceed to 2). If no, I charge 150 euros/hr. Let me know when you want me to start.
2) Post the code for a program that opens a text file with the following in it:
hello world
and prints the contents out using System.out.println().
3) Modify the program in 2) to determine if the file contains the word "yes". Post the code.
4) An html file is no different than the text file in 2). -
