How to open a popup window through JSF

Hi,
I am new to JSF technology. I want to open a popup JSF page from home page. Is there any way to do that without using JS ? B'z i saw the link forum.exadel.com/viewtopic.php?t=559, In this he is using JS function to open the new window. I want to do that without using Script.
Thanks in advance.
Sudhakar

assign a new frame name / window name to a form's target, when the form will be submitted, a new window will pop up
But, AFAIK, you won't be able to set any of its properties (size, modal & so on), so JavaScript remains the best solution IMHO

  • Solution: Using Popup Windows in JSF Applications

    URL: http://forum.exadel.com/viewtopic.php?t=559
    This example shows:
    * how to use a client-side script to control a form field rendered by JSF
    * how to launch a popup window and return a result back to the main window
    * how to use the standard JSF Navigation Framework for navigation in a multiple-windows interface environment.

    It works only with latest ( jsf-ri beta ) version. EA4 used to require completely another approach to do the same.
    According to diagnostic message, you have problem with running jsf-ri itself, but now with this example application.
    There is a good test to examine that your environment is ready to work with jsf-ri: jsf-ri is shipped along with demo-components.war example. Try to deploy it. If it works, jsf-popup example should work also.
    Perhaps, your servlet container does not with servlet-mapping like *.jsf . I met this problem couple time when play with standard jsf-ri examples. So, you can try to replace *.jsf with /faces/* and index.jsp should contain <jsp:forward page="faces/pages/inputdata.jsp" /> in this way.
    Finally, I have received several request about working with WSAD 5.1 . It looks like 5.1 does not support jsf-ri applications at all. This is a link that explains the problem: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=427&thread=476773 . If somebody knows the solution let's us know, please.

  • Action to open a popup windows?

    Hi experts,
    In a view I want to have a button which has an action 'search' to open a popup window. So how to write this action code?
    Thanks!

    hi,
    pop up is a new window.
    so make a new view for the pop-up.
    make a window for this pop-up view.
    you will be calling this window as a pop-up.
    make a context element for your window of IWDWindow type.
    write the following code in the action of the event when you want the popup...
    //     IWDWindowInfo objWindowInfo = (IWDWindowInfo)wdComponentAPI.getComponentInfo().findInWindows("<Window name here>");
    //     IWDWindow objWindow = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createModalWindow(objWindowInfo);
    //     objWindow.setWindowPosition(300,150);
    //     objWindow.setTitle("Choose Manufacturer");
    //     objWindow.setWindowSize(300,400);
    //     objWindow.show();
    //     wdContext.currentPopupNodeElement().setCtxManuPopup(objWindow);

  • How to close a popup window for system events?

    Hi,
    I have a screen 110 which shows several input field in popup mode.
    The Cancel button can close the screen.
    But my question is how to close the popup window for the following system events?
    1, Customer clicks the cross button in top-right corner
    2, Customer clicks the system icon in top-left corner and then select either: "Close" or "Stop Session"
    The PAI subroutine of the screen has not been triggered for the above system events.
    Thanks for the coming help.
    Best Regards,
    David

    Hi Siddharth,
    I did check with another very experienced ABAP developer.
    The solution was the same as what Arunima Rudra provided.
    And I got a sample program which did work properly.
    The headache is that the system events in my program still cannot be triggered even after I have all the same changes.
    Anyway, I suggest you to try the solution as provided by Arunima Rudra.
    It should work for 2 system events:
    1, Customer clicks the cross button in top-right corner
    2, Customer clicks the system icon in top-left corner and then select either: "Close"
    For "Stop Session", it should not be handled by popup.
    You can observe the same behavior in ALV sorting configuration popup.
    Good luck!
    Regards,
    David

  • How to Minimize a  popup window?

    We are using title window as a pop-up.
    The title window has a property called closeButton which when
    set to true displays a close button on the top right hand corner of

    Likewise, We also need minimizeButton property which can
    minimise the window.
    Is there any such component like title window which has this
    property of minimise this window or any other workaround.

  • How to open URL as a popup window through BRANCH in APEX reports

    Hi
    I am using APEX 4.0
    I have a branch with a target type of URL. The branch is triggered by pressing a button. There is also a plsql process on the same button which fires at the process point of "On Submit-After Computations and Validations". I want to open the branch URL as the popup Window. I tried doing it with javascript, but then the plsql process doesn't execute. Any pointers will be helpful.
    Thanks
    Hina

    You can use the apex.submit javascript function. This function allows to store some item value from session scope to database scope. So that a page process picks the correct item value. Not sure if it works with computations thou.
    See the docs: JavaScript APIs
    Example
    Submits the current page with a REQUEST value of 'DELETE'.
    apex.submit({ request:"DELETE", set:{"P1_DEPTNO":10, "P1_EMPNO":5433});
    Then add a branch with type "branch to function returning URL" This page branch can be made conditional on the same request as the page process.
    The returned url would be either include the javascript popup or window.open function or simply be the url. Important thing here would be to use a function that reads the url item  from database state, since at that moment the computation or page process will have set the item on database level, but it is not directly available on page level.
    meaning ":p2_item" or v('P2_ITEM') should work. &P2_ITEM. in the url will probably not work.

  • In a multiple monitor situation, how do I get popup windows to open on the same monitor as the parent application is displayed.

    I have two monitors. I have an application that I run all day, displayed on my secondary monitor. Whenever a popup windows is launched form that application, it always opens on the primary monitor. Very annoying. Any way to get the popup to launch in on the same monitor as the parent application?

    Did you solve this problem ?
