How to open external links in new tabs?

I own a personal web site. A question is
How to open external site in the new tab? For example: the THIS LINK will open new window. How to open new tab in Safari for this case?
Thanks for answer.

Morning Igor and welcome to the forum.
I assume that you are talking about enabling the tabs in the preferences of safari:
Preferences, tabs, open new windows in tabs (I believe this is how it is written.. not in front of my mac).
Hope this helps...

  • How to Open External Links in a New Tab

    I want links in web pages to open in the current tab so I have browser.link.open_newwindow=1. But how do I make links from extenal applications open in a new tab?

    Try setting the following to 3, not really sure if preference was actually removed or just won't accept 2, the intent was that the two variables be the same (I think)
    browser.link.open_external -- Where to open links sent to the browser from an external application
    * 2 (default in SeaMonkey): Opens external links in a new window
    * 3 (default in Firefox): Opens external links in a new tab in the most recent window
    * 1 (or anything else): Opens external links in current window
    Note: In Firefox 2 and above, via “Tools → Options → Tabs → New pages should be opened in:” (same as browser.link. open_newwindow)
    Pref removed from Firefox 3.5

  • Open page links in new tab instead of current tab

    Hi,
    I just upgraded to the new version of FF and when i now open links from my current page, they open on the same page rather than in a new tab.
    How do I fix this? I know that it sometimes depends on the page, but pages that used to open links in new tabs (and do in IE) open on the current page in FF.
    How do I fix?
    thanks
    amit.

    You can middle click a link to open the link in a new tab.
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Open external links in new window

    I can't seem to make firefox open external links, e.g. links opened from other applications, in a new window. This is particularly troublesome on multiple desktops since a new tab may be opened in a firefox window on a desktop other than the active one.
    This is no option in the preferences or in about:config that appears to affect this behaviour. It seems there used to be browser.links.open_external that was later removed.

    This link will open in de inappbrowser:
    adobeDPS.dialogService.open('http://pubbly.nl')
    This link will open in Safari:
    adobeDPS.dialogService.openExternal('http://pubbly.nl')
    If you use jQuery you can do something like this:
    // Each anchor tag will be opened in an external browser.
    $('a').each(function(){
         var url = $(this).attr('href');
         $(this).on('click', function(e){
              e.preventDefault();
              adobeDPS.dialogService.openExternal(url);
    More explanation about the dialogService can be found here:

  • How to open navigation item in new tab?

    Hello
    Is it possible to open a navigation item in a new tab?
    for example, when a user enters in MII and in the menu has several links, is it possible, when clicking in a link, to open it  in a new tab?
    i know it is possible to open in a new window or in home page or on top... but what about tab?
    Best regards.

    Your solution will be client setting dependent.  The home page navigation and tab options for opening in the frame or new window are merely setting the href target in the home page html when the screen is rendered by the personalization service.  As far as I know the tab behavior new to IE in version 7, and the tab behavior in other browsers like Mozilla/Firefox are both managed at the application level and will be client PC bound.  The home page process just uses target="_blank" for opening links in a new window.  I don't know if there is a browser neutral setting for something like target="_newtab", but it doesn't appear to be the case:  http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/types.html#h-6.16
    If something like this does creep into the standard then it would make a nice feature enhancement request for 3 radio button options when defining a link in the navigation editor.

  • How to open Bing in a new tab?

    I know that most people are looking for the way how to remove Bing from a new tab, but I want to make a vise versa :) I have already found the way how to set up Firefox to open Bing in a new tab. But what I miss - is the position of the cursor. It stays on URL bar. But I would like it to stay in searching bar of the Bing. Is it possible to make it?
    Thanks!

    Hello there,
    You'll need to make "bing" your default search engine. http://www.bing.com/set/search

  • How stop FF31 from opening new window? I want to open all links in new tab at top of page.

    I think the following, quote below, from the help page is my problem.
    I have this one website I use that when I click on a link within the website it is opening a new window with the tab at the bottom. Also, when this happens, I am losing the orange FireFox rectangle, bookmarks and navigation options. How can I set FF31 so that the link opens in a new tab and I keep all my options? I am using Classic Theme Restorer 1.2.3. I also notice that in the new window I lose the ability to use some of the addons.
    I have two laptops and both are running FF31 and W7. One of them is working perfectly and the other is having this problem. As far as I can tell they are both set up the same. The only difference is that when I upgraded to FF31 they both had difference older versions of FireFox. I also read in the help forum that maybe I need to go back to FireFox 28 to accomplish what I am trying to accomplish.
    I noticed that when I go under about:config that the version of FF that is not working has fewer available options versus the version that is working. An example would be that the working version has "browser.tabs.onTop" where on the other laptop this is missing.
    >>>Open new windows in a new tab instead: This option controls whether links from other applications or from web pages which request to open them in new windows are opened in a new window or a new tab in the most recent window.
    Note: If you have chosen to open pages in new tabs, Firefox will ignore this option and will open a new window from a link if the page author specified that the new window should have a specific size, because some pages can only be displayed correctly at a specific size.<<<
    Thank you in advance for any help,
    yeto

    You can override how links are opened via the browser.link.open_newwindow.override pref.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.link.open_newwindow
    *1: current tab; 2:new window; 3:new tab;
    Use this for links opened via JavaScript.

  • Link in emails to open the link in new tab, not a new firefox window with home page,

    Link in emails open a new Firefox window with my default home page. How do I get Firefox to open the linked web page, in an new tab, as it used to do??
    This is for Win XP, FF 17.0.1, using Outlook as mail client.

    Do you mean the results from a search via the Google search bar on the Navigation toolbar or the Firefox Google home page (www.google.com/firefox) ?
    For the Google website you can set your preferences on the Google.com page via the [http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en Google Search settings] link at the top right.
    Results Window: Open search results in a new browser window.
    You need to allow cookies for Google (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to save that setting, otherwise you have to repeat it.
    For the Google search bar on the Navigation toolbar you can set the pref browser.search.openintab to true on the about:config page.
    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • New website overwrites previous tab--how to open it in a new tab?

    When I open a new website, rather than opening a new tab, it takes the one that's already open. How can I make it open in a new tab?

    You can click on the link or bookmark using Ctrl+click or Ctrl+Shift+click.
    One of them will open in the foreground in a new tab the other in the background into a new tab. Depends on your options settings.
    Some items you might want to set in '''about:config''', see Firefox configuration variables relating to clicking on a link or on a bookmark. (#newtab)<br>http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/keyboard.htm#newtab
    You might want to try these settings in your about:config as described in the above link.
    :'''browser.search.openintab''' user set '''true'''
    :browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground default false (***)
    :browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground default false
    :browser.tabs.loadFolderAndReplace user set false
    :browser.tabs.loadInBackground user set false (***)
    (***) you want these two to have the same setting so opening from a link will be the same as opening from a bookmark or opening from history.
    Google Search results > upper right corner gear/settings:
    Results Window: [x] Open search results in a new browser window.

  • How to open a hyperlink in new tab from document library

    hi,
    I have created a Document library programmatically.
    Added values to columns programmatically. One of the column contains a hyperlink.
    I need to open a new tab when a user click on that link?
    How can we do it?
    i cant add CEWP cause there may be libraries above 200 so i cant add CEWP in every lib.
    can we make it programmatically or any library seetings?

    <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.8.0.min.js"></script>
    <script>
    $(function() {
    $('a').filter(function() {
    return this.hostname && this.hostname !== location.hostname;
    }).attr('target','_blank');
    </script>
    Place the above script in the master page.So that it is applicable for all the libraries.

  • How to open URL in a new tab? NOT in new window!

    Dear All,
    I am a newbie to Flex and this is my first application here. Kindly forgive me for the ignorance.
    I have a tabbed pane created using ViewStack. When the user click a button on the first tab, an external URL has to be invoked in a new tab. I have written this function which successfully creates the new tab but when I try to open the URL using navigateToURL it opens in a new window:( What I need is to open the URL in the newly created tab. I have tried out navigateToURL parameters such as _self, _blank, top etc but none seems to work out. Could anyone kindly let me know the standard way to do this? is it ExternalInterface or ModuleLoader or something else? Please give me some references that would help me do it. I am trying this for quite some time now but no luck . Thanks a million in advance.
    protected function button2_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
        var newVBox:VBox = new VBox();
        var newLabel:Label = new Label();
        newLabel.text = "Hotspot Mngmt panel";
        newVBox.label = "Hotspot Mngmt";
        /* navigateToURL( new URLRequest( "http://ipmsit.tsmc.com.tw/Hotspot/Hotspot/index.html" ), "_self" );*/ --opens in same window, not new tab.
        var my_loader:Loader = new Loader();
        my_loader.load(new URLRequest("http://ipmsit.tsmc.com.tw/Hotspot/Hotspot/index.html"));
        newVBox.addChild(my_loader.content as DisplayObject); - throws exception
         vs.addChild(newVBox); -- "vs" is the id of the ViewStack

  • Safari 8 won't open any links in new tabs or new windows

    After I updated to Yosemite safari no longer works properly. Whenever I try and open a new tab it does not show up unless I click on the button. Then once I do it shows an empty tab. It does this if I try and open a new link in a tab as well. It will only show an empty tab. Also, If I try and open up a new window or a link in a new window it either won't do it or it will act as if it is going to do it, but only result in the spinning will. Then it will freeze and i'll have to force quit out of it.
    I tried this https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6604109 and it doesn't work. I also tried this https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6683283. However the only time safari worked normally was when I booted up in the Safari Only Guest Mode.

      Hold the “Option” key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
      Select “Library” from the drop down.
      Library > Preferences >  com.apple.Safari.plist
      Right click it and select  "Move  to Trash".  Close Finder window.
      Please don’t empty the Trash.
      Restart. Launch Safari.
      Test Safari.
      Put back the com.apple.Safari.plist
      If this doesn’t help, right click the Trash icon in the Dock and select “Open”.

  • Open search links in new tab

    Ever since the last "update" 33.1 then 33.1.1 I've been unable to just clink a link in a Google search and a new tab opens why? Is it because Firefox is no longer going to use Google as it's prime search engine and it's a sneaky way of getting people to use Yahoo?

    Did you disable all added toolbars and anti-virus add-ons?
