How to pass SQL command parameter using OpenDocument
Hi !
I have a dynamic List of values configured in Business View manager, used across multiple reports.
The data source for this LOV is a SQL Command which accepts a static parameter named stringParam. I need to pass this static parameter in the URL using OpenDocument command. How can I do this?
I tried
http://bobjdev/businessobjects/enterprise115/InfoView/scripts/opendocument.aspx?spath=[ReportFolder]&sDocName=WebReport.rpt&stype=rpt&lsSstringParam=ABC
but it still prompts me to select the parameter. I need to avoid this prompt.
Any help, please.
Hi,
I would recommend to take a look at the documentation in order to identify the correct syntax for your URL

How to pass in a parameter into a report viewer on a jsp - and hidden
Hi, I've built a php application and am using the java environment to enable the crystal report/viewer. The developer was looking how to pass in a parameter into a report viewer on a jsp. Ultimately the end product we need is to get an HTML report viewer loading a report file with hidden parameters so to not expose other customer data (it's a shared database for multiple customers) preferably loaded from php using maybe the php java bridge. Would anyone happen to have any sample code or any guidance?
<%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8"
pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1"%>
<%@ taglib uri="/crystal-tags-reportviewer.tld" prefix="crviewer"%>
<%
// just a test to grab rpt name from GET
String rptFile = "report_files/" + request.getParameter("rpt");
%>
<crviewer:viewer reportSourceType="reportingComponent" viewerName=""
isOwnPage="true">
<crviewer:report reportName="<%= rptFile %>" />
</crviewer:viewer>
Many thanks in advance!
MarkI am not aware of any html tags you can pass to the viewer for parameter values. Normally, you would load the report in code and then use the SDK with the report object to pass parameter values.

this should be similar to how it worked in JDeveloper 9.0.3. hava a look at <JDev903 Home>\BC4J\samples\StoredProc for a code example.

Passing database command parameter to sub-report
I'm trying to pass a runtime parameter from a main report to a database command parameter in a sub-report, and having some trouble.
My main report has parameter fields (Vendor, Manufacturer, etc) that the user selects at runtime - the result set includes Item Code - that part is working fine. Where I'm having trouble is with linking to the sub-report. My sub-report has a stored command that takes a parameter (ItemCode) and counts the number of times it's shown up on an invoice. When I created the command, it asked for a value for the parameter, and won't accept a blank entry. Now, whenever I try to run the main report, it asks for the ItemCode parameter for the sub-report - which kind of defeats the purpose. I've tried linking from ?Pm-OITM.ItemCode in the main report, but the Subreport Links window doesn't show the Command parameter to link to.
How do I take a field from the main report and pass it to a sub-report to be used as a parameter in a stored database command?
I'm running CR 2008, and SAP B1 2007 PL 42 on MS SQL 2005, and I'm still pretty new at CR, so details help.
Thanks.Go to change subreport links and add Item Code from main report and then you can see the sureport stored procedure parameter in the Subreport parameters list, select the parameter and do not select any field from subreport.
You will be able to see the stored procedure parameter in the list only when the Item Code and the parameter are of same data type.

Dynamic SQL Command Queries Using Parameters
Post Author: tdoman
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
I'm using Crystal Reports 11 and am trying to dynamically build part of the "Where" clause in the SQL command query to filter data on the server before the results are sent to the client. I'm doing this to decrease the load time of my reports by not having to send a large set of data to the client, then filter the results on the client side.
I want to create a parameter list that is dynamically generated from a table in a database and allows you to select mutiple values from that list. For example: I have two tables. One employee table and one employee type table. The employee table lists all employees and their related employee types (full-time, part-time, and contractor). The employee type table lists the employee types that will dynamically be loaded into the parameters list.
Employee Table
ID Name TypeID
1 Bob 2
2 Steve 1
3 John 3
4 Bill 1
Employee Type Table
ID Type
1 Full-Time
2 Part-Time
3 Contractor
Assuming the user selects u2018Full-Timeu2019 and u2018Contractoru2019 from the parameter list, the SQL command query I want to generate is as follows:
SELECT *
FROM emp, emp_type
WHERE emp.ID = emp_type.ID and emp.TypeID in (u20181u2019, u20183u2019)
I tried building the following SQL command query so it would dynamically replace {?EmpType} with the IDu2019s of the types the user selected but it doesnu2019t work. Any ideas how to fix this?
SELECT *
FROM emp, emp_type
WHERE emp.ID = emp_type.ID and emp.TypeID in ({?EmpType})Post Author: tdoman
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
btw...I just realized I had a typo in my "where" clause of the previous example. It should have been like so:WHERE emp.TypeID = emp_type.ID and emp.TypeID in (u20181u2019, u20183u2019) satish_nair31:
Instead of passing the filter condition as parameter it would be fine if you pass it by ReportViewer.SelectionFormula Property.
The selection formula property of report viewer control will dynamically append the where condition with the SQL value. You will pass the filter condition as per the syntax of language supported by crystal reports.I believe using the ReportViewer.SelectionFormula property you are referring to is only available if I'm loading the report through a VB application. If this is true, then this option will not work for me because I'm loading the report in a browser from the Crystal Report web server and currently don't have a VB application that can load the report. If I did, then I could dynamically build the SQL string using VB then pass it to the Crystal Report on the fly.But I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to do it without loading the report using VB. Please correct me if I'm wrong on these assumptions. -
Crystal report SQL Command and using IN
Post Author: geozuh
CA Forum: Crystal Reports
Does any one know how to get a multiple value prompts to work in Crystal report SQL Commands? I have an extremely large database and do not want to pull back all the records to the report. I know I can do the filtering in the report, but due to the size of the database, I am restricked from doing do.
I would like to set the State as a multiple value parameter/prompt to be used in the SQL Command.
Ex.
Select CustID, FirstName, LastName
from Customer
where State in ('WI', 'IL', 'MN') --this would be turned into a parameterPost Author: yangster
CA Forum: Crystal Reports
you are over thinking the problemsimply create a parameter within crystal for your state and change it to allow multiple valuesthen in the select expert put in state = ?stateif you do show sql query you will see that the values are pushed down to the sql level thus no performance hit vs putting the parameter directly in the command itself -
How to pass a command line argument to the sequence?
Hi,
My GUI is written in VB.NET. I can read the command line argument in the GUI, using: Me.AxApplicationMgr.CommandLineArguments(). But I don't know how to pass it on to my sequence file which the GUI invokes. How do I read the command line argument from the sequence file?
My purpose, is to have the same basic sequence execute different subsequences depending on starting conditions...
I am using TestStand 3.0 with a VB.NET GUI, on Windows XP.
I'd appreciate any help on the subject.
AlanHi Alan,
One obvious way would be to add parameter(s) to the MainSequence and then modify the process model sequence file to use the new parameter(s) in the step "MainSequence Callback" in either Single Pass or Test UUTs but I wouldn't recommend this approach.
The sequence file to be run via the entry point can be found at "RunState.ProcessModelClient" and the lookup string to the MainSequence would be "RunState.ProcessModelClient.Data.Seq["MainSequence"] or .Seq[0] .
Therefore you could quite easy use the SetVal method to setup a Local variable in the MainSequence of your Sequence File to receive the command line string.
Also you could do this without altering the Process Model Sequence File by using the Callback Sequence ProcessSetup in your Sequence File.
As an example.
You have a string in your Locals of MainSequence called CmdLineStr.
If you add the Callback Sequence ProcessSetup to your SequenceFile, then add an ActiveX Automation Adapter step which is setup for a PropertyObject and the reference is RunState.Caller.RunState.ProcessModel.Data.Seq[0].Locals.CmdLineStr.
There is an extra RunState.Caller to the lookup string, that's because I am doing the work in a SubSequence of Entry Point Sequence.
The method to use is SetValString and the parameters of the PropertyObject will be
lookupString = ""
options = 0 or 1
newValue = where evey you have stored you command line string.
Now when you run your sequence file you will find that the Locals.CmdLineStr will contain your parameter string.
Hope this is of help to you.

How to pass a date parameter from report builder query designer to oracle database
i'm using report builder 3.0 connected to oracle database. i'm trying to pass a date parameter in the query with no success, i don't
know the exact syntax. I've tried :
SELECT * FROM igeneral.GCL_CLAIMS where CREATED_BY IN (:CREATED_BY) AND CLAIM_YEAR IN(:UW_YEAR) AND (LOSS_DATE) >To_Date('01/01/2014','mm/dd/yyyy')
it worked perfectly.
However if i try to put a date parameter "From" instead of 01/01/2014 it will not work, a Define Query Parameter popup window appear and error occurred after i fill
the values (usually i shouldnt get this popup i should enter the value when i run the report)
SELECT * FROM igeneral.GCL_CLAIMS where CREATED_BY IN (:CREATED_BY) AND CLAIM_YEAR IN(:UW_YEAR) AND (LOSS_DATE) >To_Date(:From,'mm/dd/yyyy')
appreciate your assistanceHi Gorgo,
According to your description, you have problem when in passing a parameter for running a Oracle Query. Right?
Based on my knowledge, it use "&" as synax for parameter in Oracle, like we use "@" in SQL Server. In this scenario, maybe you can try '01/01/2014' when inputing in "From". We are not sure if there's any limitation for To_Date()
function. For your self-testing, you can try the query in sqlplus/sql delveloper. Since your issue is related to Oracle query, we suggest you post this thread onto Oracle forum.

Converting a SQL Command Parameter from Date to Char
Hi,
I'm using CR XI version 11.0.0.1282. I've created a report using a SQL Command and have a parameter defined as Date. I need to convert this Date parameter to a CHAR and have created my WHERE clause as:
WHERE "CC_PAYH"."PPOST"= CHAR ('{?From Date}') AND
"CC_PAYH"."PPTYPE"<>13
I get a message saying 2008 is not a valid token which in AS400 means it doesn't like the year. Go figure.
I've tried running a similar query in AS400 and I get the desired affect. I've tried removing the parameter from the Where clause and putting it into the Select like:
CHAR ('{?From Date}') as MyTestDate
just to see the representation I would get and I get the same error.
The question I have like everyone else is; is this possible with this version of Crystal? I assume so since the same query will work in the database itself.
Thanks,
BrianHi Brain,
Can you please try the query similar to the following syntax and verify whether it helps you!
Select * from Orders where ([Order Date]) =
CStr({?Date})

ADF Faces + ADF BC : how to pass an url parameter to a backend business ser
Hi,
I'm using latest JDev studio version SU 3.
My project is using ADF Faces with BC4J in the service layer.
I have a backend application module which exposes a method taking a String parameter as an input (ex: void setUsername(String username))
I need to have a jspx page which reads a parameter passed in the url (http://localhost/faces/registerUser.jspx?username=john) and send it to the backend service method when a submit is raised on a clicked button.
It's pretty simple when using inputtext for example but not obvious if I want to use urm param instead of inputtext.
How do I do this ?
ThanksHi,
Thanks a lot for your answers.
The link http://www.it-eye.nl/weblog/2006/06/12/passing-a-url-parameter-to-model-using-adf/ is no more reachable.
The following EL expression work for displaying the parameter inside an outputText component :
#{facesContext.externalContext.requestParameterMap[yourParameter′]}
The parameter is not sent to the business service when the button is clicked.
Thanks,
Seb. -
