How to pass varchar in query in query

Hi,
I my prroject I am fetching value from various tables in ref cursor based on value entered from FE.
To make it simple
Let suppore from FE it passes group of id from as input paremeter in proc
ex v_id:=2,4,5,6
No in query
It has to be
select * from table_name where id in(v_id).
However since the v_id is varchar facing some issue in fetching and is value in number.So how can this issue be resolved.

Approval Procedure - how to pass value to query

I want to do an approval procedure for checking GRPO Qty which greater than PO OpenQty by Query.
How to pass the GRPO DocEntry and LineNum to the query, and how can check the passing value is correct or not?

I have tested one row only, but also not work.
Here is the query I used.
select case when (t1.openqty < $\[PDN1.Quantity.0]) then 'TRUE' ELSE 'FALSE' END as RESULT from pdn1 t0
right outer join por1 t1 on t1.docentry = t0.baseentry and t1.linenum = t0.baseline

If the pass value is correct, the result should be like this.

I have a working struts app with Action classes and Servlets...now I need to pass query paramter to one of the servlets,can someone please tell me how to do that.I tried to put this code in web.xml but failed:

What do you mean by fails? Can you access the Servlet without the parameter? Do you get a null value when trying to retrieve the parameter?

How to pass parameters to query-database function [Solved]

Dear All,
I'm working on a BPEL process which reads a file and the data is passes on
to a web service. In the transform activity to transform data from the source to the
web serivice parameters, I want to use the query-database function to check if
the value given in the file exists in the database. I have added a 'If' XSL construct
for this. Now when the query is static (given with hardcoded where clause), the
query-database function works fine. But I want to use one of the column in the
source variable in the SQL query I'm using in the query-database function.
i.e. If I give the query as below it is working:
<xsl:if test="orcl:query-database("select empno from emp
where empno='10'",.....) > 0">
I want to replace the hardcoded value 10 with the value from the source variable.
I'm not sure how this should be done. If I refer to the element directly in the XSL
it is not working. I've shown this below.
<xsl:if test="orcl:query-database("select empno from emp
where empno='/tns:Root-Element/tns:Data/:tns:Empno'",.....) > 0">
Something like above does not work. I'm not sure also if the syntax is correct. It
does not give any error, but the transformation does not happen.
Is there any way you can pass any input value as a parameter to the
query-database function?

The concat works! Thank you very much for the help. I didn't try concat before.
I was using a alphanumeric field, so it was required to add one more concat
for enclosing the value with single quotes. For numerical fields, one concat would
be enough as you had shown.
My xsl looks like this now:
<xsl:if test="orcl:query-database(concat(concat("select empno from emp
where empno='",/tns:Root-Element/tns:Data/:tns:Empno),"'"),
false(),false(),"jdbc/DbConnection") > 0">
This works properly.

How to Pass Id in query

I have a table like this
ID Name
1 Test
2 'xyz
3 Test
4 abc
5 pqr
Now I want to filter the results of a query based on ID, but since users know the names and not the Ids, how can we show the Name in Parameter for user but when user selects a Name , query should filter on the ID.
Alos note here that two different Ids can have same name.

You can concatenate the key with the description and build the LOV on this:
1 - Test
2 - nmk
3 - Test
But this won't solve your problem. If the user don't know the keys only the description he won't be able to choose between '1 - Test' and '3 - Test'.
First you should know what is the difference between 1 and 3 and the related data.
Test - 1 and Test - 3 are really different thinks, or just they have inserted into the table twice because there wasn't unique check?

You can create an icommand query. You can then use the icommand retrieval methods to capture and manipulate the query data.

Basically what we did was, use the getColumnCount() and getRowCount() methods, once you have these two numbers you can set two for loops and use String getValue(int ColID, int RowID) , within the for loops you can generate the inner html content and write the values either in a html table or html form (which is what we did). This seems to work well, I'm still playing around with it and may post this approach on sdn by end of this week.

Passing entire SQL query to BIP server from Forms

Hi
I want to pass the entire SQL statement or only a WHERE clause dynamically constructed on Forms side to BI Publisher server at runtime.
I have come across this article:

It mentions about using pwhereclause which could be constructed dynamically.
Is it possible to pass the entire SELECT statement and has anyone done this before? May I have some tips on this?

My requirement is as follows:
1) I have a customised application which contains the definition of the report (report id, report name, the screen id on which the report is to appear as a record in the list and so on). This is where I would like to record the SQL statement which will be used to retrieve data for the report.
2) Once I launch the report from my application, it will pass SQL statement and other data (template, format, output file name, path where the output file will be saved, URL from which the output file will be launched after saving).
Thus, on BI Publisher server side, I shall only create a report, and will create a data template that will reference the SQL query that has been passed from application. I don't want to even specify parameters in Bi Publisher and want to specify them only in the application.
Is this possible?
Currently, I'm using a web service called 'PublicReportService' of BI Publisher to pass template, format, output file name, report path etc.). However, I am not sure how to pass an SQL query from Oracle Forms via this web service to BI Publisher.
Can someone please guide me?

If i click GO button on search page then it pass the selected Poplists values as a Bound values to VO Sql query at runtime after this I store the search results in a Table(Which is created by using New Region Wizard).
I want to pass the Bind parameter values to VO SQL query during runtime and :1,:2,:3,:4,:5,:6,:7 values are coming from Poplists.
I search through forum I found many threads regarding Bind Values but those all are passing ID's only not String(Varchar) values.
How to pass the Character values to VO Query.
Please anyone help me on this.

How to pass a list of parameters to a query?

Hi,
I use OracleXE 10 Database with JDeveloper 11g.
In my project I use a Toplink mapping to get access to the database (Toplink Object Map file). This mapping xml file is called crmMap.xml.
In the crmMap.xml file I define a mapping to a "User table" which has the four columns id (number), title (varchar2), firstName (varchar2) and lastName (varchar2). A title can have the four values Bachelor, Master, Doctor and Professor.
I do define a query in crmMap.xml which has to find all the users that have a special title. I do give the query one parameter called "title" which has the type "java.util.ArrayList". The parameter "title" is a list that has for example the two values "Bachelor" and "Doctor", if I want to find all the users that are Bachelor or Doctor. The query looks like this ...
Select * from User where title in(?title)I do use an EJB Session Bean to call the query. The code looks like this ...

One alternative way is to create String with , sepearted as pass the string to in clause.For example ,create a string ('Bachelor','Doctor') and pass this string to in clause.
Session session = getSessionFactory().acquireSession();
String params=( 'Bachelor','Doctor);
List<User> result = (List<User>)session.executeQuery("findUserByStatus", User.class, params);
session.release();
This is an alternative way and workaround which can work for Strings .
Or you can use EXpression to build the query to pass the collection as example given below.

How to pass a value to a bind variable in a query report in oracle apex

Hi Guys,
I have requirement to send weekly reports via email to some users. The users should receive their own records in the report. The user details is stored in a table. What I am planning to do is to create a report query in oracle apex to generate the report and then run a function/procedure via a scheduler to email the report to respective users. Now my query is ............. is it possible to pass a value (user name) to the report query to pull records of only that user? I know we can have bind variables in the report query but I have no idea how to pass a value for bind variables from a function/procedure.
Can anyone help me on this issue or suggest a better approach?

You need to use dynamic sql

How to pass 100+ tags in a single sql/tag query

In my current application I have to pass 180+ tags in a single query to retrieve data from iHistorian.
I want to know how to pass more thatn 100 tags in a single SQL or TAG Query using OLEDB or UDC connectors.
If anybody has done it in the past ,please share with me and also let me know how to do it

Currently you can only query a maximum of 128 tags, this is a hard limit and may be changed in future releases of xMII, but < 11.5 (im fairly sure 12 also) all have the limit of 128.
As for iHistorian with the OLEDB UDS, you can write a query that would return over 128 queries becasue this is an input limitation on the UDSs. (PLEASE DON"T ASK US HOW TO WRITE iHistorian QUERIES... we aren't experts in iHistorian).
Please note that though you can query over 128 tags, the performance may not be what you expect... This may take a very long time to return.

I was wondering how to pass text in MDX query.
Below mentioned is my sample query and it is working fine.

NON EMPTY [0MATERIAL].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS
*[0DOC_NUMBER].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS ON AXIS(1)"
FROM [$ZTEST]"

But in data base 000012345 consists of material name as Pepsi
Now based on Pepsi I want to fetch results? Is it possible?

Do you want to be able to pass text as if it were a value as well?

How to pass a javascript variable to a query in BEx?

Hi All,
We're using BEx SAP BW 3.x
I'm using portal eventing to pass a variable to a BW template. While I can pick up this value using javascript, I do not know how to pass it to the query.
Let me just say, I am new to BEx, so any guidance you could give me would be most welcome.
