How to pause an animation, then click to continue without buttons.

Howdie,
I feel terrible for asking such a simple question here, but I have been looking for the answer the whole afternoon, and I cannot find the answer, so please help me!
For a small project I need to make a small, minimalistic animation that stops after a while. Then there need to be a click of the mouse and the animation should continue until the next designted pause point. The points on which these pauses should occur are handpicked.
But there need to be no button, anywhere in the screen should work And that seems to be tricky for a newbie like myself at least,
So after adding the stop(); code, what should i add next?
help would be so much appreciated.
