How to populate formbean with ONLY updated values?

Is there a way to populate the formbean with ONLY updated values in Java Struts?
Ex: Out of 50 fields displayed on GUI, If lets say user modifies 20 fields, I need to capture only those 20 fields into the form bean.
The reason i am looking for such function is to avoid the overhead of updating all the 50 fields into the database everytime even if one field is modified.

Normally, you update the entire record if one of the fields is changed. However, if you display more than one record, only those records have have changed should be updated. The reason you dont update all records is because if the performance hit on updating records that didn't change, among other things (see optimistic conurrency topic at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb399373.aspx)
I don't think you should bother coding to only capture those fields that have changed in one record. It complicates your code and makes it difficult to read. Also, performance gain on not reading unchanged fields is offset by performance loss on the logic to manage such a task. Also, your update sql statement will be overly complicated and will have to be dynamically built rather than a single simple update sql statement that updates all fields.

  • How to populate fields with no values in a report..?

    Hi Gurus,

  • How to populate SNDPRN with different values in Development and Production?

    Hello experts,
    I have to fill the field SNDPRN in the message mapping with a different value in Development and in Production. As I am new to PI, I used a simple solution - but it is rather ugly: I set a constant value in the mapping in development and a different one in Production. However, I would like to know if there is any solution to have a condition in the mapping like:
    IF system is Development, set SNDPRN as Constant1.
    IF system is Production, set SNDPRN as Constant2.
    (And eventually IF system is Test, set SNDPRN as Constant3)
    Thanks in advance for your help,
    Luis

    Hi Luis,
          You can go with the parameterized mapping , where you can provide different values for SNDPRN in interface determination for development and production.
          At point of time if you want to change the values it requires only a change in the configuration.
          Please refer the below links for reference;

         We are following the same approach for some of our interfaces.

  • How to Create Charts with the variable value

    Hi,
    I have to create a crystal report in which i have given variable under "Facility:". I have kept two variables under facility of which one is like you can select one or more values and other one u can select only one value and i mentioned it as mandatory.
    What i wanted is, I have to create a bar chart based on the facility . I also want to create a pie chart using the value of facility which comes from the mandatory variable.
    To be more clear, I selected two facilities, say X & Y under the first variable and one facility, say Z under the second variable (mandatory). I was able to prepare bar chart with these three facilities. Now i want to prepare a pie chart using the value Z.
    Can anyone please help me out?

    Likely a bug in the ChartBuilders or the JDK.
    ScatterChartBuilder.<Number, Number>create().build(); // does not work either.javac is unable to determine if the create() method from SceneChartBuilder or the create() method from RegionBuilder should be applied.
    The AxisBuilders which also derive from RegionBuilder work because they don't define their own create method with obscure generic type info.
    How can I resolve the ambiguity?new ScatterChart ;-)

  • How use two templantes with only one job ?

    I have two templantes and want use with only one job.I use with input one xml data file !!
    Is this possible?
    Please Help!!
    Thanks,
    Bruno.

    I probably missed this one earlier or felt that since it referenced an XML data file that I couldn't provide a definitive answer. I'm still not sure I can because we don't use XML for our data files, but use the "field nominated format".<br /><br />An expansion on Tammy's information:<br /><br />1. use a multi-step job with each <br />b task<br />calling a different MDF.<br />With this correction, it assumes that you either have access to set up the tasks/jobs yourself or can convince your Central administrator to do so. What happens is that TASKA is set up to reference FORMA and TASKB is set up to reference FORMB. Then a job is set up that causes both TASKA & TASKB to be ran. This will likely result in two different print files being sent to the printer. That may or may not be desirable, depending on whether your printer is set up to do something special between each print file (insert separator page, offset, whatever). Personally, I don't recommend this as it can quickly cause an unnecessary proliferation of tasks and jobs (we print 100's of differing form combinations with a single job definition).<br /><br />2. I can't really address this as I didn't even know that a single form could cause another to be called. I would expect that unless the "base" form (say it is FORMA) is to always print with the secondary form (FORMB) it is restrictive and has the potential to cause a proliferation of FORMA files for the various combinations that are to be printed. Maybe it is possible to have logic to check the value of a data field to control what forms get called.<br /><br />3. If you pass the XML file through a translation step and then through the transformation agent (maybe it can be done in a single step) this should work. It does add another step to the job as well as requiring learning to use the transformation agent. Depending on the combination of forms to be printed, you might need a different translation definition for each one, or at the very least have a data field that you can check the value of to determine what ^form commands to put in the output file.<br /><br />4. My recommendation is based on assuming an XML data file has the same capabilities as a field nominated file. Within a field nominated file are various print agent commands, including references to data as well as which forms are to be printed (and a whole bunch of other commands). An XML file should have the same features - I just can't say what they might look like. If your current data file has no "form" reference but depends on the job/task definition you might have to stick with option 1. If it has a "form" reference, then you just need to insert additional references for additional forms. Then it is up to the source of your data (or a transformation agent step) to specify which forms are to be printed. For example, in field nominated format, the file might look like:<br /><br />^job XYZ additional parameters<br />^form FORMA.MDF<br />^field FIELD1<br />data<br />^field FIELD2<br />data<br />^form FORMB.MDF<br />^field FIELD1<br />data<br />^field FIELD3<br />data<br /><br />or it might look like the way our files look:<br /><br />^job XYZ additional parameters<br />^global FIELD1<br />data<br />^global FIELD2<br />data<br />^global FIELD3<br />data<br />^form FORMA.MDF<br />^form FORMB.MDF<br /><br />As you can see in the first example, there is a reference to the form followed by all fields that go on it followed by another form reference with the fields that go on it. This particular method, using all "^field" commands for defining the data requires that data duplicated between the forms be duplicated. (Or, the use of some ^global commands like the following.)<br /><br />In the second example, all data is defined first using the "^global" command followed by all of the form references. This allows for the data to be defined only once. If there is something unique regarding a particular form the field can be ^global at the beginning or it can be ^field <br />b after<br />the ^form reference (similar to the first example).<br /><br />As previously mentioned, the XML file should have the same capability but in XML notation, something like the following (forgive me as it has been years since I took the XML class and don't use it in my daily work so the actual format could be wrong, not to mention the actual labels):<br /><br /><job name=XYZ,option=aaaa,option=bbbbbbb><br />  <form name=FORMA.MDF><br />    <field name=FIELD1, value=xxxxxxxxxxx></field><br />    <field name=FIELD2, value="xxxxxxxxxxxxx"></field><br />  </form><br />  <form name=FORMA.MDF><br />  etcetera<br /></job><br /><br />or maybe:<br /><br /><job name=XYZ,option=aaaa,option=bbbbbbb><br />  <global name=FIELD1,value=xxxxxxxxxxxx></global><br />  <global name=FIELD2,value="xxxxxxxxxxxxx"></global><br />  etcetera<br />  <form name=FORMA.MDF></form><br />  <form name=FORMB.MDF></form><br /></job><br /><br />or even (but I doubt it):<br /><br /><job name=XYZ,option=aaaa,option=bbbbbbb><br />  <globals><br />    name=FIELD1,value=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,<br />    name=FIELD2,value="xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"<br />  </globals><br />  <forms><br />    name=FORMA.MDF,<br />    name=FORMB.MDF<br />  </forms><br /></job>

  • How to let help desk only update email in one OU

    All,
    Question is I have set up help desk group in AD for a particular OU.  I cannot find under the security tab for them to just be able to ONLY update the email field.  I found that read and write public gives them that field, but also allows for update
    to the account name in which I do not want.  Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,

    I believe it is a filtered property, you will need to expose it by following:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/296490
    Basically you will find the DSSEC.DAT file in C:\windows\system32 where you run ADUC.  Find the [User] section and change mail=7 to mail=0.  Restart ADUC, you should now see Read/Write Mail in the properties tab.

  • How to find roles with open field values

    Hello SAP gurus,
    I need to find a way to find roles with open field values. Some kind of report that returns me a list of all roles that, despite having a generated profile, it still contains empty field values in it.
    Is there anything like it available on SAP?

    Hey I am not sure, but seems I might have seen some report like that. Can you try search report named PFCG* / PFUD*
    Again this is either report (SE38/SA38) or may be FM (SE37). I am away from system a bit while and can't recall.

  • How to populate a form based on values in a database with JSTL?

    I know how to write Java code to connect to a database, but where exactly (and how) in my JSP page , using JSTL tags will I actually call the function that connects to the database?
    Should the code to connect and populate the Java Bean fields go into the JavaBean constructor or anther method ( but from what I understand I can't really call the Java Bean's methods through JSTL - unless I did it througha scriplet)

    I know how to write Java code to connect to a
    database, but where exactly (and how) in my JSP page
    , using JSTL tags will I actually call the function
    that connects to the database?You won't. The point of writing JSPs with JSTL is to realize that the purpose of JSP is to produce HTML, and not to do extraneous things like accessing databases. You would write a servlet that connects to the database, extracts the data, and puts it somewhere the JSTL can find it. (Most likely in a List object in request scope.)
    Then the servlet forwards to a JSP, where you use JSTL simply to scan through that List and convert the objects in it into HTML.

  • How to populate column titles for y values when using Write to Measurement File Express VI with a tab delimited text-based .lvm file?

    The .lvm file generated by the Write to Measurement File Express VI includes column heading titles for the y values, but they are a default value of "untitled".  See attached example of a sample file when opened in Excel, the values in question are highlighted.  Is there a way to specify the column titles when the file is written?
    This is a similar question to this posting, which received a work around response to use the Write to Spreadsheet File.vi, rather than a solution when using this VI.

    Sorry for the late reply.  I was out of the office Friday.
    You can do it, but the code can get rather ugly.  Under the hood, the dynamic data type (the dark blue wire) is an array of waveforms.  In your case, the scalar values you convert to a dynamic data type are being converted to an array of waveforms, each waveform having one element.  You have two options.
    Explicitly convert your scalars to one-element waveforms (t0=0, dt=1) and add the title before conversion to a dynamic data type.
    Convert your dynamic data type to an array of waveforms and loop through them to add the column labels.  The conversion blocks are in the Signal Manipulation Express palette.
    I would recommend 2, since it is the easiest to add.  It is also the easiest to run only on the first iteration.  Just put a case selector around the loop, wire the selection to the While loop iterator, and set the case containing the label code to 0.  The default case simply passes through the dynamic data.
    My apologies for not including a screen shot.  I am in the process of upgrading my machine and can't run LabVIEW.  If you need one, let me know and I can post one tomorrow.

    Please follow basic Netiquette and post the DDL we need to answer this. Follow industry and ANSI/ISO standards in your datC1. You should follow ISO-11179 rules for naming data elements. You do not know this IT standard.
    You should follow ISO-8601 rules for displaying temporal datC1. We need to know the data types, keys and constraints on the table. Avoid dialect in favor of ANSI/ISO Standard SQL.
    And you need to read and download the PDF for:
    https://www.simple-talk.com/books/sql-books/119-sql-code-smells/
    >> I have a table AS claim_data AS below. <<
    Thanks to your lack of netiquette, we have no name, no DDL, no keys and have to re-type the raw data into SQL, guess at everything! Does your boss treat you with the same contempt?
    Think about how silly “_data” is AS an attribute property! What tables do you have without an data in them? You had to give this meta-data in 1970's operating systems, FORTRAN compilers, etc. but we do not do this today. I see you use “A”, “B”, etc for table
    aliases This is the name of the disk or tape drive in a 1970 computer! In SQL we use helpful, meaningful table aliases so code is easier to maintain. I see you also use the old punch card trick of putting a comma at the front of each line of code.
    The column named “ord” is a mathematical fiction for ordinal sets. I think you meant to use it as a non-relational sequential number to let you keep writing 1970's COBOL is T-SQL. We have not used the old Sybase ISNULL() since we got COALESCE() in SQL-92. They
    are actually different.
    First, let's post what you should have posted if you followed forum rules:
    CREATE TABLE Claims
    (claim_id CHAR(5) NOT NULL,
     claim_amount DECIMAL (8,2) NOT NULL
     CHECK (claim_amount >= 0.00),
     change_month_name CHAR(10) NOT NULL
     REFERENCES Month_Period(month_name),
     creation_month_name CHAR(10) NOT NULL
     REFERENCES Month_Period(month_name),
     ord INTEGER NOT NULL, -- NO!! Awful design!
     PRIMARY KEY (claim_id, ord)); --required by definition
    Since SQL is a database language, we prefer to do look ups and not calculations. They can be optimized while temporal math messes up optimization. A useful idiom is a report period calendar that everyone uses so there is no way to get disagreements in the DML.
    The report period table gives a name to a range of dates that is common to the entire enterprise.
    CREATE TABLE Month_Periods
    (month_name CHAR(10) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY
     CHECK (month_name LIKE '[12][0-9][0-9][0-9]-[01][0-9]-00'),
     month_start_date DATE NOT NULL,
     month_end_date DATE NOT NULL,
     CONSTRAINT date_ordering
     CHECK (month_start_date <= month_end_date),
    etc);
    These report periods can overlap or have gaps. I like the MySQL convention of using double zeroes for months and years, That is 'yyyy-mm-00' for a month within a year and 'yyyy-00-00' for the whole year. The advantages are that it will sort with the ISO-8601
    data format required by Standard SQL and it is language independent. It has been proposed for the Standard, but is not yet part of it. The regular expression pattern for validation is simple.
    INSERT INTO Claims  -- a mess!
    VALUES
    ('054511', 300.00, '2013-04-00', '2013-04-00', 1)
    ('054511', 0.00, '2013-05-00', '2013-04-00', 2),
    ('120301', 250.00, '2015-02-00', '2015-02-00', 1),
    ('120624', 150.00, '2015-02-00', '2015-02-00', 1),
    ('120624', 0.00, '2015-03-00', '2015-02-00', 2);
    Now, throw this mess out. It looks like your repeat the claim creation date over and over and over. It looks like you crammed a claim creation and a claim history together in one table.
    >> I want to isolate rows which appear in the table and do a update using below query (This query is already in a procedure, so I just looking for a suitable way to modify it to support my task).
    In the above e.g. ONLY row containing claim_id = '120301' needs to update (amount AS updated_amount)
    >> I use following query, but it update other rows as well, I want a suitable query only to capture rows of nature claim_id = '120301' and do this update? <<
    No. SQL is set oriented so an update applies to the whole table. You can filter out rows in a WHERE clause.
    CREATE TABLE Claims
    (claim_id CHAR(5) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
     claim_amount DECIMAL (8,2) NOT NULL
     CHECK (claim_amount >= 0.00),
    claim_creation_month_name CHAR(10) NOT NULL
     REFERENCES Month_Period(month_name));
    See how this works?
    INSERT INTO Claims  -- a mess!
    VALUES
    ('054511', 300.00, '2013-04-00'),
    ('120301', 250.00, '2015-02-00'),
    ('120624', 150.00, '2015-02-00');
    Normalize the table:
    CREATE TABLE Claim_Changes
    (claim_id CHAR(5) NOT NULL
      REFERENCES Claims(claim_id)
      ON DELETE CASCADE,
     change_month_name CHAR(10) NOT NULL
      REFERENCES Month_Period(month_name),
     PRIMARY KEY (claim_id, change_month_name),
     change_amount DECIMAL (8,2) NOT NULL
     CHECK (change_amount >= 0.00)
    INSERT INTO Claims_Changes
    VALUES
    ('054511', 0.00, '2013-05-00'),
    ('120624', 0.00, '2015-03-00');
    Now you just add another change row to the history. There is no update. If you want to the delta and so forth, use LAG() and other window functions.

  • Creation it0009 with only IBAN value

    Hi Friends,
         I tired to create IT009 subtype 2(travel expense) for France country by just giving the IBAN values. France is a SEPA Mandate country and we'd implemented the same in our project.
         In the backend(R/3), I just gave the value for IBAN field and tried to save, the fields - Bank key, Account number, Bank control key automatically gets populated from IBAN value. The same thing I had tried from portal side, but it gave the error "Enter Bank Key" which is optional field ???!!!!, as per the configuration and portal settings.
        Then I entered/selected a random Bank key for the same IBAN value in Portal and saved the record but the fields Account number and Bank control key was not updated automatically But the record got saved (without Account Number & Bank Control Key) !!!! Now again I went to Edit mode to change the same record with another IBAN number now the fields Bank Key,Account number, Bank Control Key got automatically populated from the new IBAN value.
         So the problem is with the creation of IT0009 record with IBAN value in Portal. Is there any OSS message for this problem, or any specific configuration available for this issue to get fixed???
    Thank you.

    well I did as I wrote. Just in case anybody needs it, this is how I add new messages that will be processed later by BPEM background job
    1. Calling FM BAL_LOG_CREATE
    2. Calling FM EMMA_LOG_PROCESS_START
    3. Adding messages with FM BAL_LOG_MSG_ADD
    4. Calling FM EMMA_LOG_PROCESS_END
    5. Calling FM BAL_DB_SAVE  (not sure if really needed)
    if you need to add messages for different objects within one BPEM Job just repeat points 2 - 5 for each object.
    Best Regards
    Marcin

  • MB1A: Automatically populate SLOC with a default value

    Hello,
    In MB1A, We want to auto populate the SLOC "Storage Location" with our code "W001" which is our warehouse.
    It there a way when we open an order or reservation through MB1A the SLOC will be already populated.
    This will save us a lot of time.
    Thanks.

    You can use TCode SU3 and then select the "Parameters" tab.  Enter LAG in the parameter ID column and then put the "W001" as the value.
    The other way to get to the same tabs would be the menu path:  System -> User Profile -> Own Data.
    Regards.

  • HT1688 How to use iMessage with only one apple account.

    I updated my iphone4 and my husbands iphone3s and my ipad2 to iOS6. I have one apple account for all of them....well now my email, which is my login, is hooked to all 3 for imessage. So if I send my husband a imessage it sends it to all 3 of them....I have shut off iMessage on our phones but would like to know how to unlink my husbands phone at least..I never had a problem before the upgrade....an suggestions.

    Ok..I figured it out. I had to go to settings on my ipad and go to messages. Then click on send & recieve...I had to then uncheck my iphone number and my husbands number and only have my email address check for the ipad....now its all back to normal again.
