How to populate list of values on screen load

Hi all,
I have a list of values based on another field (ANOTHER_FIELD).
e.g.
select value d, value r
from table_name
where id = :ANOTHER_FIELD;
ANOTHER_FIELD has default value.
But when the screen is opened the list of values doesn't get the default value and the list of values is empty.
Just when submmiting the form, the list of values is populated.
Please tell me how can I populate the list of values on screen load.

So, you have created a computation for ANOTHER_FIELD but the related list still does not get any values? And, the default value for ANOTHER_FIELD is a valid value that can be used to populate the related list?
Have you set anything for the "Display Null" settings for the related list? Or, is the default value a value will always be in the list?

As your screen fields should be global variables in SAPLXQQM, you may initialize them by implementing function module EXIT_SAPMIWO0_008 which also belongs to SAPLXQQM (Customer Exit: Transfer Notification Data to User Screen)

How to implement list of values with bind parameters

Hi All,
Please give me details about how to implement list of values with bind parameters.
I have implemented with below things.
1) created lov view object with query like select meaning, lookup_code from fnd_lookup_values where lookup_type=:1;
2) The above vo added to applicationa module.
3) created Controller class in the co class written code in processRequest();

4) In AM Impl Class invoke the VO
5) In VO Impl class executed the query..
But the above process working fine but when i give the value in lov text field like 'C' then press tab button the result will not showing instead of that i am getting error message, i want to implement standard lov functionality while implementing query with bind parameter.
any thing reqired to add the code to controller for search criteria..

How to populate List Item from the table in a form builder

I want to know how to populate the List Item (pop up menu and combo box) from a table.
Supposing I have a table Customer(cust_id,cust_name)
and now I want to populate it in such a manner that I can update the data back to the database and also access the list on the form.

This is the method i am using to populate a list.
1- First of all you need to create a non-database list item for customer_name.

How to refresh list item values before report is run?

We have two SELECT LIST items (drop boxes) on our report. One SELECT LIST has values of "World Region" (e.g. NORTH AMERICA, SOUTH AMERICA, EUROPE, ASIA)
the other SELECT LIST has values of "Subregion" (e.g. NORTHERN EUROPE, SOUTHERN EUROPE, SOUTHEAST ASIA etc...)
The values in the Subregion list are dependent on the value that is chosen from the "World Region" List. Can someone tell up how to update the values in the Subregion list BEFORE we submit the page? We can get these values to update (via sql query) when the page is submitted but that is only happening after the report gets run- which is not what we want. We want the user to select a Region from one SELECT LIST and then see all the qualifying Subregions for that Region in the Subregion SELECT LIST. Only after both Region and Subregion have been selected do we want to run the report. Thank for any help on this.

raj) in htmldb there's a concept of items at the page and at the app level. page level items have ui component associated with them. in scott's explanation above, he's talking about using a page-level item with a "Display as" type of "select list w/submit" for your first select list. in that case, he's suggesting you have one select list item drive the values of another. when the self-submitting select list submits the page, it sets an htmldb built-in variable called :REQUEST to the name of the self-submitting select list item. in your follow-up post's example, that'd be "REGION_LIST". scott was explaining how you could control the functionality on your page by adding conditions to things like...
:REQUEST = 'REGION_LIST'
...or using declarative Condition options like "Request = Expression 1" and then putting the string "REGION_LIST" in that Expression1 field. so in your case, you have a report region that you don't want displayed until the user's done selecting from your Subregion list. an easy way to handle that would be to add a hidden item (where "Display as" is set to "Hidden") to your page, for example :P1_LAST_REQUEST, to store the last value of :REQUEST. put a Computation on your page that populates :P1_LAST_REQUEST with :REQUEST each time the page is submitted. then put a Condition on your report region that makes it only render when :P1_LAST_REQUEST != 'REGION_LIST'. so this way your users can select a Region and have the page submit itself. the page will then redraw with the values of subregion list correctly populated (you'd presumably use :REGION_LIST in your subregion LOV query to achieve the filtered values) w/o your report region displayed. the user would then select a correct subregion and click some sort of "run my report" button. this time when the page redraws, :P1_LAST_REQUEST would be set so something other than "REGION_LIST" (it'd be set to whatever you named your "run my report button") and so your report region would display as desired.

How to use List of values with bind variables on item?

Hi
I made a dynamic list of values with a bind variable as a provider. I tried to run the list, and it worked fine - i filled inn the bind variable when asked for, and i got a list of values to choose from.
I would very much like to use this list of values as an attribute on a custom made item. My wish is that when creating the item you someplace write the bind variable, and the list will then turn up as wanted. (I could f.ex add the variable as an attribute on the page type)
I tried to create a custom attribute and assign the list of values to it. It created an error when I then tried to add the attribute to the item.
Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this?

How to populate a default value in Text box depending on Poplist selection

We have a requirement to populate a default value in a Text Box when user chooses a value from poplist (of type MessageChoice adjacent to the Text Box). This page is a Oracle Seeded Page. I understand that this is not possible using personalization. Can please someone guide me as to how should we proceed for this.

No, standard UIXML should not be changed. But y would u need that, you cando the Ui changes with personlization and if needed programitically in process request method of controller, by takeing control on that particular bean!

How to add List Box in Dialog Screen

Hi All,
I need to add list box in Dialog screen.
In Dialog screen I have 2 radio buttons "Yes" and 'NO'.
If user selects radio button YES, then under Yes I need to display values in list box and these values should be retrieved from one table.
If user selects Radio button NO then under NO I need to display values in list box.
Please give the solution for above requirement.

To get Drop Drown Box on screen .
Follow these steps.
1.Go to T.Code SE51 and Select Laypout for the Screen.
2.Double click on the field for which u want Dropdown box.
3.Then U will see Name ,Text ,DROPDOWN.Click on that and select List Box or ListBox with key . Better to to select first one.
4.Save and Activate ur screen .
5.Enter the following piece of code in the PBO of the screen.(Change for ur
   requirement).
The following logic needs to be written under PBO of the screen logic.

Urgent, How to Populate List?

I'm developing an application using Developer 2000 and I'm using a menu to call other forms within the application.
My problem is that I have a Main-Form with a foreign-key from another table (e.g. CITY_ID is the foreign key and the DESCRIPTION is in the TABLE CITIES).
In the main-form, I have no problem retreiving the CITIES from the other table, but when I call within the application the form with the CITIES and insert a new row, going back to the main form the new record is not shown.
In the main-form I'm using the WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger with the Set_Up_List(CITY_ID, 'RG_CITIES') and EXECUTE_QUERY statements.
I've tried to use Populate_List but I get FRM error-messages.
Can anyone HELP ME?

This 'Classname/Objectname' gives you the LOV of Objectname from which you can select the values.
While for having * in place of any values you need to add an OR condition while defining the prompt defition as
'*' IN @Prompt('Enter Name','A','Classname/Objectname',MULTI,FREE)
So, The complete definiton will be as:
