How to port a number from a Family Share plan?

This is my situation.  I am the Account Owner on a Family Share plan with 2 lines. My husband is an Account Manager.  I know I need to do an Assumption of Liability to make my husband the Account Owner and he will be able to keep his number and change his plan.  I believe my number would then be a 2nd line on his account.  I then want to port my number to an MVNO Prepaid service.  Can I do this and keep my number and not affect my husbands service with Verizon?  We have had our numbers for years and do not want to lose them.  Our contract date is ending in 3 weeks and I will be waiting until we are month to month before porting out my number.

Nope makes no difference. He will tell Verizon Wireless he wants the account and the will pay the monthly charges. You then tell Verizon its OK to give the account and line etc. to him.
In certain cases when the run the credit check on the other person there may be a deposit required to have that service transferred.
Good Luck

  • Requested Verizon remove me from the Family Share Plan and They Refused.

Has anyone else had this problem?
The family share plan we currently have is a way to share data, minutes and usage for up to 5 phone numbers. Lately, it is causing a lot more stress and uncessary complication. I went in to try and upgrade my LG with a Smart Phone because I knew I was due for an upgrade, and the customer service representatives would not help me. We have a past due on our account of debt mostly from the other 4 phones on the account. My phone has used the least number of minutes and therefore, has charged the account the least.
I offered to pay my portion of the bill in order to upgrade my phone. They refused the offer, claiming that the entire account had to become current in order for me to upgrade.
Apparantly, I found out that another phone number on the account went in for the same reason a few weeks prior to me coming in to upgrade their phone. Verizon turned me away because the upgrade had already been used. The family member used my phones eligible upgrade for theirs. They were also able to perform successfully the same upgrade I wanted to do without any complication, within the same billing cycle - the account was past due when they went in to upgrade as well, and Verizon allowed them to upgrade.
In an effort to elimintate any future complication, I asked that I be removed from the account and transfer over to my own individual plan - keeping my same phone number. Verizon would not help me, claiming that the account owner had to authorize it.
When I asked the account owner if they would authorize the removal, they refused.
What do I do now if I do not want to pay the other 4 phones bill percentage, I want to get off the family shared plan and upgrade my phone?
    Thanks,

  • How to use iTunes gift card on family Share plan

My teen age son is on our Family Share Plan and he has an iTunes gift card he wants to use to download songs.  I can't figure out a way to set this up unless I remove him from the plan and then add him back in after he has made the purchase.  Any better way to do this?

Yes, if there is credit in the iTunes account it should use that in preference to any credit cad details held (at least it always does for me).

You need the carrier to imitate the port. You can't call Verizon and have it done.

  • How do I get off a family share plan if I'm not the account owner?

how do I get off a family share plan if i'm not the account owner?

kydd33  Good question!  If you are looking to be removed from the family share plan, then the account owner would need to give you  (or the person looking to take over your line ) permission. This is known as an Assumption of Liability (AOL). I am assuming that you want to keep your Verizon phone number and are looking to remain a Verizon Wireless customer. If so, the age requirement is atleast 18. Also, the current account has to have a current balance. If another VZW customer is taking your line over then their account would need to have a current balance, as well.  To proceed, have the account owner call customer service and authorize that you can remove your line from their account. There is not a penalty or fee for the account owner.

  • How do I port a number from Sprint?

I just signed up for Verizon yesterday with an individual line, and need to port my number from Sprint (also an individual line). What number do I need to call?

    Good morning tommaxwell,
Welcome to our happy wireless family! We LOVE welcoming new members to Verizon! Since a cell phone is one of few things that we keep within reach at all times, I can certainly understand the benefits of keeping your current number! Some of these benefits are:
    • No new number to remember
    • No need to contacts friends, family member, and associates for a contact update.
    • No unnecessary expense of printing new business cards and other stationeries.
May I ask have you started the port process yet? If not then it will be my pleasure to assist! First, I would like to provide a link to some frequently asked questions, http://bit.ly/qDhvBY. Once you are ready to start the process then you can send me a direct message with your full name, contact number, and a brief summary of the task at hand. I took the liberty of following you and it is pending your approval. I look forward to hearing from you my friend!
    Thank you…

  • Verizon system can't handle porting phone number from Straight Talk customers?

According to this discussion: Verizon system can't handle porting phone number from Straight Talk customers?  If still true, then VW misses a huge business opportunity. Adjusting the sizing the account number to be wider is not a hard system adjustment task and have almost zero system ripple-effect impact (I am in IT works).
    http://www.prepaidreviews.com/straighttalk.html
"Straight Talk makes it impossible to port an existing cell phone number from their operation to a competitor such as Verizon. To port my cell phone number I was told by Verizon to provide my ST account number. It was not listed on any account documents. After 45 minutes on hold, ST customer service told me it was the cell phone serial number. But that number was too long to insert into Verizon's system. After another hour long wait, ST directly told a Verizon rep that was the only account number. As a result, I had to abandon the cell phone number that I have had for nearly 10 years and get a new one. I will not be doing any business with ST in the future."

Ah ha!  Okay, so I just need to be more patient in other words.    I'm just glad nothing is wrong.
I did use the "erase all data and settings" option on the iPhone 6 menu because I wanted to go through the setup myself.  I hope that didn't mess anything up.
    Thank you!!

how to calculate week number from system date  ?
    thanks.
    SK

    hi,
The above FM can be used for BADI or customer exit, if it is design level then you can use formula as well, under formula date functions you can use DATE_TO_WEEK.

  • Went from single plan to family share plan

Two weeks ago I bought the DroidX and the 900 minute plan. Last week my dear daughter needed a new phone, so the lightbulb went off for me. Bought another DroidX and changed to the 1400 family share plan which included unlimited T&T plus the 10 F&F.  My first bill just came through for the 900 minute plan, about $135 and change.  How and when will Verizon send me the new bill for the new plan?  I undershand I'll pay the current bill the first week April.
I understand one month is billed in advance.
Question: will I get sticker shock when both are combiled?

A lot depends on when the change was made. If it was timed so the change happened on the billing cycle start date, then the next bill will have the new charges.
More than likely, you made the switch mid-cycle, and this is where it gets confusing, and possibly expensive (that "sticker shock" you spoke of) due to pro-rating.
Say you made the change one week into the new billing cycle on your 900 minute individual plan. The 900 minutes will be "pro-rated" for that week, 1/4 of the month, or about 225 minutes allowance. If you used more than the 225 for the first week, those minutes will be charged at $.40 or $.45 each.
Then you are pro-rated for the NEW plan, for 3/4 of the month, or about 1000 minutes. Same rules apply; you actually only get 1200 minutes for the month, and it matters when those minutes are used, IF you changed your allowances mid-stream.
And the billing numbers - you'll see charges and credits for partial months - it could be confusing! Hopefully it will all make sense, and if you have questions you can post back once the new bill arrives.

  • How to cut off data use on a line in a family share plan?

Is there a way to cut off data useage on one line in a family share plan? I have one person that is going over and want to simply cut off the data use after she reaches say 110% of her use in the billing cycle.

I agree get Family Base and charge then the extra $5 it will cost since that person doesn't seem to understand the concept of SHARING. Or up the data plan and charge the extra to them and tell them since you had to increase the data plan because them they can pay the extra mount.

  • Change on family share plan without permission; customer service no help at all

    @VZWSupport
Posting this question here because I am having zero luck with *611 customer service and after 40 minutes on the phone with a rep I am ready to pay the early termination fee and leave Verizon after 15 years of being a customer.
I am part of a family share plan with five lines.  Someone else in the family used my phone upgrade last month (with my permission), and this apparently changed my plan (did not give permission to change plan) but I was not notified that the upgrade was used OR the plan was changed.
Ever since it was first available, I have had unlimited data and have always reupped my plan to keep that unlimited data feature.
Can't email customer service and chat is never available, so I get someone on the phone last week who says they'll request the upgrade back to unlimited and get back to me within 3-4 days.
No response, so I call again today.  This rep says that request was not processed, and after FORTY minutes, the outcome is:
    * Unlimited data is no longer available so even though my plan was changed without my consent, I lost my unlimited data which I have had for years (I knew it was no longer available, which is why I never let my service lapse, so I could KEEP it)
    * The 6GB / $30 consolation prize data package is also no longer available
    * No additional data can be added to my plan for the rest of the month, unless I completely change my plan, which will also change the plan on the other four lines that are part of the family share -- not doing that without anyone else's consent
    * The family member using my upgrade reset my contract so I'm stuck with this for another TWO full years
    * They can add a $30 credit to my bill for next month, just in case I do go over my data
This is the WORST customer service ever.  I mean, really.  Fifteen years of continuous patronage and this is how we are supported as customers?
I had been debating breaking my line off (and my husband's line) and going onto a new family share plan, just the two of us, and purchasing new phones as well, but frankly, I'm ready to pay the early termination fee and stop doing business with Verizon.  I've heard from various friends that after several years of being a customer with AT&T or Sprint, they receive the newest phones for free -- just out of the blue -- or some other amazing promotion for no reason other than being a valued customer.
Let's get this resolved via email, Verizon.  If I have to talk to another customer service rep on the phone, it's going to absolutely ruin my day.

    Thanks.  My main issues are:
I was not notified of the change in plan
I was not notified of the upgrade
My approval was never requested for the device upgrade
My approval was not requested for the change in MY plan
What I am having difficulty accepting here is that unlimited data is no longer "available."  I'm not trying to ADD or BUY unlimited data.  I'm not even trying to BUY the 6GB data consolation prize that apparently isn't available anymore.
My plan was changed without my consent.  My upgrade was applied to another line without notifying me.  I'm not trying to add a feature I didn't have before.  Doesn't customer service have a reset button?  A restore point?  I had this service two weeks ago; they changed it without my consent or notifying me; I want it BACK.  Not a new add.  An account restore to a point two weeks ago.  I don't see why this is such a difficult concept.
Not only that, my plan was reupped WITHOUT my consent, when the upgrade was applied to the other line on the account.  Now I'm stuck with this contract for two more years, and I did NOT agree to another two years.
They were more than happy to try and sell me two new phones and split our two lines off the family share plan, though.  MORE than happy.
Going to have to look into the cost of early termination and really thinking of just paying full price for a phone and going with something like Smart Talk or Virgin Mobile, unless the reps at the store do double backbends to help me out and hook me up after fifteen years of patronage.
I calculated the amount I've spent just on my line, not including my husband's 15-16 years of being a customer, and it's upward of $10,000.
Ten THOUSAND dollars and this is how they treat their customers... smh.
Thanks for the reply, @elector.  Appreciate it.

  • Way to start family share plan with 4 lines

Im extrememly new to this & right now I would like to start a family share plan with 4 lines. Will I be able to get 4 smartphones at a discounted price? I heard that you if you want 3 lines there has to be 1 basic phone along with 2 smartphones & 2 basic 2 smart for a plan of 4. I need a little confromation since it was really hard looking for info on my exact wants online. Also right now I'm already on a grandfathered family plan with a friend but I don't mind paying the ETF since the line was suspended last month & my friend won't be able to pay the bill pillage until next month(I have paid my portion of the bill for this month also even though it wasn't enough to reconnect the lines) & I can't deal with not having a phone any longer! Yes my phone is a necessity since I don't have a home phone. Will I be able to keep my number? Sorry if this post is all over the place.

I'm not sure where you heard about a basic phone requirement because that is false.
If you are a new customer then yeah you get the phones at a discount. You would be a new customer if you were under someone else's plan I assume. Whose name was the account under?
4 smartphones would be $160 in "line access" charges monthly. Then you have to chose how much data you will need.
