How to possibly improve export settings - suggestions?

I am creating a mobile website that will display video clips of American Sign Language.  Please go to this page:
http://designerandpublisher.com/urban/site/clips-31-35---urban-asl.html
Please view this only on a phone device.  Scroll to bottom and play the video called 320 Test Clip.
So far I've been able to find a Premiere export setting that looks pretty clean and most importantly, the file size is somewhat small too.  The above clip is about 300K in size.
Below are the settings that I used:
I'm always interested in trying to get the best quality for the absolute lowest file size.  But I'd like to see if anyone has any ideas on how I can improve the quality further and possibly bring the file size down as well.
PS - thanks for any replies, but please don't ask me to download special programs or add-ons to Premiere.  I'm using Premiere 4 (I think from 2009) and I'm happy with it.  I'm trying to keep things simple and seeing if I can improve within the software.
Thank you.

I don' t disagree, but your current image is very good at its current resolution. The problem is that on my Galaxy S4 (screen resolution 1080x1920) it looks blurry, but that is because even in portrait mode its 320 pixels are spread to almost 1000 pixels. And I don't appear to have the option of keeping it at the actual resolution. I downloaded the clip to my laptop and played it in VLC player at its actual size. Small and very crisp.

  • Panasonic TM-300 Highest Possible Import/Export Settings

At first I thought it was the Panasonic TM-300's recording quality, but when I hooked it directly into my 42" LCD in the living room it came through BEAUTIFULLY. I also see tons of YouTube video's that are supposedly recorded using the TM-300 and cut together with FCE, so I'm certain it's my own ignorance causing my problem.
It could be some type of import setting I have on FCE is causing me to have a grainy image.
*Can somebody let me know the import and export settings I need to use to get the highest possible quality?* I don't care how big the file is when it's done... I'll buy a whole shelf of hard drives if I need to. I want Scorsese like quality...
Panasonic TM-300 has the top end capability to record in HA60i/24p - 1920x1080 - AVCHD and that is what I am using.

"Where are you seeing this blockiness exactly? In the viewer set to 100%? What are the exact item properties of your clips?"
Can you answer these questions? Are you only talking about the blockiness on exported files compressed on YouTube?
You're watching this fullscreen? How big a screen? How big is the exported file? This is very heavily compressed media. Compressed on export and then compressed again by YouTube. Any gradient, like shadow areas, will show artifacting. The second video is really soft, which masks a lot of the artifacting, but produces an image with a lot of ringing around the high contrast edges. It's been compressed pretty well considering the contrast and depth of the shadow. It looks as if it's been purposely black crushed, but that may just be an accident of the lighting.

  • How do I change export settings in Compressor 4?

In the old compressor, I could export a movie and choose all my own settings pertaining to size, quality, streaming or not, keyframe rate, data rate, compression type, aspect ratio, etc..., same was true of the old Final Cut.  So in making FCP X, they removed that functionality and forced me to go through Compressor to have that ability.  Now they've upgraded Compressor and, apparently, removed that functionality from there, as well.  So where do I go to have control over any of that?  Is it possible anymore?  Come on, Apple, don't make it more difficult.  I'm all for upgrading a software's interface to make it more user-friendly, but don't take away functionality, please.

    Found some info...
Had to save the export to the custom area, but the main thing I was missing was to show the inspector window.  Once there I could manage all the settings I was complaining about
Peace.  Thanks, Apple.  Sorry for jumping the gun.

  • How do I repair export settings in PS CS4 and import settings in DW CS4?

I've just transferred from Windows XP to Windows 7 Home Premium. My export files from Photoshop CS4 in Save for Web and Devices are hidden and when I click on Save, it saves back into the open file in Photoshop. The image cannot be found in the DW web images folder as in the past. I was able to tell Photoshop how to save the image in the past (ie image only, not html) but that page no longer appears.
Can anyone tell me where that hidden folder can be found?
Thanks so much for a reply.

Yes, I am the administrator and only person on this computer. The missing page is the "Save Optimized as.." window that allowed me to add the settings into specific files for DW. like Format, Settings, Slices and where to save. Is this a hidden file? if so, how do I get it back.
The oddest thing happened yesterday: I wanted to add Meta info for a pattern I was saving for DW, I went to file information, and while I was typing, suddenly the form changed to a totally odd Patient Information sheet and it would not let me get back into my own PS pattern. Is this something new? I have never added a Patient form, anyway, how did it get into PS? Any clues on this?

  • Advice on export settings (codecs, sizes, etc.)

    I have a 1-minute iMovie, non-HD, 720x480. It was shot with a basic camcorder.
I exported it using the Share > QuickTime > Web preset, and it came out as a 1MB movie, 320x240, and is REALLY grainy and kind of hard to watch.
So I tried to experiment with expert settings, but every expert setting I try multiplies the final file size (typically at least to 20MB or more).
What I'm looking for is "one step up" from the Web preset -- something that's 2-4MB in size, and looks better than my 1MB exported version.
I don't see many details on what the "Web" preset is, except that it's 12fps (I think that's fine -- this isn't sports), and 320x240. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations on other codecs/settings that would produce a better result but at an economical size just slightly larger than the Web preset?
(I'd love it to be larger than 320x240 but when I step up to 640x or 720x I get into 30MB movies...)

Even at 320x240 resolution, the MPEG-4 looks great whereas the H.264 was too blocky and grainy.
That may be due to other factors, not just whether the movie uses the Apple MPEG4 codec or the H.264 code. H.264 is able to deliver beautiful movies, as evidenced by Apple's movie trailers. (Don't expect to achieve that quality without using high-end, high-price software.)
To compare features of two movies you can open both in QuickTime Player, then choose Window > Show Movie Info. Click in the two movie windows in turn to compare their features.
The Movie Info window lets you look at important variables like the Frames Per Second, Data Size and Data Rate of the two movies. These were set by the iMovie export pre-sets used to create the movie.
If the movies aren't exactly what you want, you can use iMovie's Expert Settings export option to configure your own exports using "improved" export settings. You can increase the data rate, for example, to get better quality image. Or lower the window size to improve quality with the same data rate.
The H.264 is a particularly useful codec, delivering great-looking video at very low data rates. How low you can go will depend, in part, on the content of the video. It's often a matter of trial and error.
One strategy is to export with H.264 using a very high data rate so you see what the codec can deliver, then try other exports with lower data rates until the quality is no longer acceptable. When the movie file size achieves your goal, you're done.
Apple's new "Apple TV" export pre-set does a great job using H.264. It doesn't let you control things like the window size, however, at least not from iMovie.
But if you have QuickTime Pro, note that the Apple TV export pre-set automatically exports at the current size of your movie window. So if you want a small-window export, set the movie window to that size before exporting.

  • How to set QuickTime export setting to 1080p as default? Thank you! ;-)

    HI there,
I was wondering how to set the export settings to 1080p when exporting a video (after trimming for instance)...
It is set to "Movie" by default, I'm not to sure what resolution or data rate "Movie" format is (identical to original file)... since according to apple the other export options are:
    Thanks.

Cool, so would it be the same if I save the file as "Movie" or "1080p" once I've trimmed the original file?
No, the 1080p option would re-compress the file as a 1080p H.264/AAC file. This means the compression format may be chaged from its original compression format and that the quality MAY be reduced due to the process of recompression. Basically, it all depends on what the original compression format, settings, and quality were like to begin with. If the original data was in a low compression editing format, then recompressing the data to H.264/AAC should produce a much smaller file with little or no loss in visual quality while recompressing a high compression format may produce little or now change in the file size but noticeably reduce the visual quality. Since "quality" is a highly subjective term, you should really be running your own tests to see which output you prefer rather than asking for opinions from others here.
Also, my question was if I could change the default export settings:
Depends on what you mean by "change" the default settings. The Apple H.264 presets are context adaptive in nature. They are, within certain limits, self-adjusting depending on the video content being transcoded and the specific preset selected. For instance, small target dispay dimensions will produce lower average data rates which means the final file will be smaller but you cannot manually change the frame rate, set key frame frequency, set a/v data rate limits, create custom anamorphic encodes, manually set the profile/level combination, set the entropy mode, etc.

  • I have lost the export settings for FCP7. How can I get these back?

I accidentally threw a folder in the trash. I got a lot of stuff back using Data Rescue, but not everything.
I have lost the export settings for FCP7. How and Can I get these back? tia

Sorry for the delay in response. It sounds like you have somehow deleted your quicktime ProKit with the codecs by what ever process you were trying to restore  you trashed files.
Go to the Apple Menu > System Updates and see if the updater sees a need to install them.
If this doesn't work - it might be
the best thing to do would be to get FCS Remover from Digital Rebellion (free)
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/
and try to remove all traces of your corrupt installation and then do a clean install from your original disks, followed by updates to restore the new ProKit codecs.
If your system has been corrupted by whatever you did, it might be best to wipe the drive and start from scratch - but understood this is not a pleasant choice.
Other posters may have different or better suggestions. The FCS Pro Apps require a lot of files and file structure that may or may not be apparent, and were never drag and drop installable. They always needed to be installed with the proper installer.

  • How do you improve quality of QuickTime movie exported from Flash?

    Hi
I have designed a Flash animation for a client who has asked me to also provide it in a format which can be used in a film he wants to produce in Apple Final Cut Pro.  I assumed the best format would be QuickTime but whenever I export the Flash file in to QuickTime the quality of the film is awful - the graphics leave fragments of themselves behind as they move (if that makes sense?!) and the overall quality isn't very crisp.
I have tried various export settings and followed a few tutorials online but still having no success!  If anyone can make any suggestions I would really appreciate it or is there even another file format that can be used with Final Cut Pro?
    Thanks for your advice!!

Whenever I export an animation out for video, I always export it uncompressed.  It gives a very large file, but then you don't have to worry about it getting compressed multiple times (as the video will be compressed when completed), and I have not had any problems with it.
If you are still having problems with QT export - I have heard reports that setting a time in the export (stop after X time, rather than stop at last frame) will get rid of it.
And, if you still have problems exporting to QT, then I suggest exporting to AVI and converting to MOV with a separate tool.

  • How do I reduce the number of audio channels in the source or export settings?

I'. trying to export my finished edit through the "movie" setting but keep getting the message that the number of audio channels to create in the exported file must be equal to, or less than the number of channels in the source. Reduce the number of audio channels in the source. Reduce the number of audio channels in the export settings. I am at a loss as to what this means and how I proceed with it prior to putting it to DVD. Please advise.

is it possible to export a slideshow in 1080p format and then show it on a projection TV in 1080? if so, how - what conversions are necessary

Getting it out of Aperture is not a problem. When you export the slide show select 1080p as the export format.
What happens then gets tricky. To create a true high def 1080p DVD requires Blu-Ray. So you will need an external Blu-Ray recoreder and software to create the DVD.
If you're hooking your computer up to the TV then you'll have better luck.

  • How do I include camera settings info when exporting photos?

Hello! I am taking a photography class, and the instructor wants the camera settings (i.e shutter speed, aperture, ISO, lens, etc) to be included with the photos I send for my assignments. I see these setting when I click "info" in iPhoto, but do not know how to get those settings to export along with the photos so that he can see them. Who can help?

I believe the OP is trying to export those settings
I think so too, but even without any special export settings will the EXIF tags with the camera settings be included with any JPEG version. It is not necessary to include title and location. The JPEG will include the EXIF., as can be seen in Preview.
I thought s/he might want to send a pDF with the written values as well, just in case the instructor could not read the EXIF.

    Cheers pal.
I'm currently using a 'batch process' in Acrobat Pro on all my Print PDFs (to convert to online PDFs). Guess I'll stick with that then.
Was hoping there would be something magic I could do when making the original PDFs from InDesign.

  • Is it possible to write a script that changes swf export settings?

I want to be able to export a swf file that uses a different text anti-alias setting. Is it possible to create a script that can set and export a swf file to my specifications?

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
Is it possible to create a script that can set and export a swf file to my specifications?
It seems there isn't. A script cannot add basic functionality, only access it. In this case, you can't change the setting because there is no 'antialias text' setting in the SWF export settings.
However, all is not lost. Google turned up this helpful page; it might be possible to edit your SWF after exporting and then re-save it.
