How to power a motor using labview DAQ output signal

The power from labview is not enough to move a decent-sized motor (works with tiny one). Is there any electrical component/device that I can use to sort of increase it (something in between output from labview and the motor)?
Thanks

LabView is a software and does not supply any physical signals. To generate physical signals you need an interface board, NI has plenty of them which can be controlled via LabView. Anyhow, as you mentioned, digital i/o interfaces can handle currents in the mA range only. I think the best way to control motors via LabView and an interface board is using an additional relay driver board. Since relay contacts only switch power and do not supply any power you will need an external power supply matching the voltage and current specs of the motor.

  • How to draw the circle diagram of induction motor using labview

    hi

i want to know that is it possible to draw the circle diagram of induction motor using labview..........
if its possible then please suggest me the possible ways.
                                                                                         thanks

There may be better ways, but the method I used was to convert amplitude & angle to rectangular coords, then create an XY plot from (0,0) to those coords.  (Or 1 plot for Voltage, 1 for Current, etc.)  I would then just keep updating this plot and feeding it to the graph in a loop.  The result was a slightly choppy looking but useable animation of the phase vectors.

  • How to generate pwm pulse using NI DAQ in MATLAB

hi everyone. please tell me how to generate pwm pulses using Ni DAQ card in MATLAB Simulink. if through coding is possible then post the corresponding code.....reply me

Make sure you have installed the Measurement studio support for VB 6.0 then you will be able to find examples in the folder below on win7 and 8.
    C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Examples
Narrow down to Analog Output and choose update voltage example for measurement studio.
You also have the possibility to use DAQ assistant if you have measurement studio installed. This function is a configuration type programming. After going through the configuration Wizard code is automatically scripted for you so that you can output the voltage you need. Read more about DAQ assistant in the blow link.

  • Power point report using LabVIEW

    Hai,
i am trying to generate some kind of reports in power point tthrough labview.
I have been searching in the net. i don't get the complete details like creating new slide , editing it and so on. Rather i could get details only for running the slide show.
i have tried with activex vis automation open.vi with the reference as MS- power point documnet window, slides ,etc.
that vi throws "not creatable object" for almost all reference except power point application reference.
Has anyone done this kind work with labview.
If anyone has idea about this please tell me how to do this.

    Hello,
I think you also sent an email.  I'll post some information for the masses as well:
The following is a very useful msdn.com document - a useful place to find information about microsoft products such as powerpoint.
    Microsoft PowerPoint Objects http://msdn.microsoft.com/archive/default.asp?url=/archive/en-us/office97/html/web/006.asp
For adding a slide, see the quoted text in that document and corresponding example which starts "The following example adds a slide to the beginning of Sample Presentation."
Remember, the ActiveX API exposed by Powerpoint (or any other application with an ActiveX Server) is entirely independent of LabVIEW, so even a text based example suffices to elucidate the necessary calls to the API.  It turns out that with a "presentation" reference we can get a "slides" reference using a property node, and then get to the "add" method using an invoke node.  The attached screenshot (also shown below) shows how to expose this method in LabVIEW.
    Thank you,

  • How to compare successive readings using Labview

Using Labview (Ver. 6) with a DAQ instrument, I scan 20 Thermocouple channels, compare the reading of each channel, after every reading, with previous reading to see whether it is stabilized. When all the channels are stabilized within a given tolerance, then a signal is generated for the next step. As it is, I am using a While loop and shift register for each channel(each While loop is within a Case), and then AND the outputs of all the channels (shiftregisters). This is very messy! I think there should be easier way to do this. Help Please!
    Thank you

Not sure if you're using the Datalogging & Supervisory Control (DSC) Module. But since you posted your query under DSC, I will answer this assuming you are. In which case this problem becomes trivial:
For the Tags of these channels, you need to specify the right Update Deadband. And the DSC Engine will then take into account this deadband when a new value comes in and does not update it until it has crossed the deadband. All this will be hidden from the user and you don't need to write a single line of code, or actually, a single millimeter of wiring
Again, if you're not using DSC please disregard this (but do appreciate the power of DSC to handle such issues!)

  • Controling four bipolar stepper motors using one DAQ

    hi all
l've just started using  labview an i am looking to contorl Four bipolar motor  for a spine robot though four stepper motor driver using a NI USB-6211  DAQ each motor will be independent so i am wondering can this this be done with one Daq since there is only two counter outputs on the digtal and the same on the analog.the speed of the motor does not matter as they will be push and pull.

    Hi polarmess,
Welcome to the NI Discussion Forums and LabVIEW. The USB-6211 has (among other functions) 4 digital outputs and 2 counters. If the digital outputs are not sufficient for your application (e.g. not quick enough) and you also want to control each of the 4 motors individually, then then USB-6211 would not be suitable for this application.
The NI sales team are always available to provide advise on hardware for specific applications, and I encourage you to call in to your local NI branch to discuss what the most appropriate hardware would be to control your robot. Our contact details are available via the contact link on ni.com.

  • G4 - how much power does it use?

How does the computer use power? It's not like a heavy duty motor in a refrigerator, a shop vac., heater or power tools...
How much power does a powermac G4 consume, on average...in terms of dollars added to a monthly bill? I see on the back of the Mac that it's rated at 6 to 8 amps, but I can't understand how it can suck up that much electricity when all I hear is the fan, basically.
I use it for video editing, so if remove internet, and most other programs that might use power, except for apps needed for video, photoshop and text edit, would I save at all?
    thanks!
    k

...so if remove internet, and most other programs that might use power, except for apps needed for video, photoshop and text edit, would I save at all?
Hardware, not software, uses power. One heavy-duty program may demand more of the hardware than another but most--pro audio/video editing and some 3D games excepted--never force the hardware to work up a sweat on modern machines.
There is a current tester that clamps around the main power cord of anything electrical to read power consumption. I can't find the link to it right but it is standard piece of kit for electricians. My appliance guy's tool bag has sported one as long as I've known him. If you REALLY need to find out hard numbers, that's the way to go; be aware that the tester I saw on the 'net was US$100--you could run a G4 a long time for $100.

  • How to implement wafer mapping using LabVIEW?

    Hello LabVIEW Masters!
I am having an incoming project which includes controlling and gathering information from a PROBER. One of the difficulties I am having now is how to implement a WAFER MAP using LabVIEW. According to my customer requirements, the wafer element ranges from 6k to 23k. I guess doing all the element (one die = one led ctl/indicator) will be a hell of a task, especially on how to effectively manipulate each elements. Does anyone have better idea on how to this?
Please, I badly need your help..
    Thanks and Regards,

    Solved!

    Hi Dennis,
Is it okay if you send to me the working VI also?
No, it's not ok. I made that program for my customer...
As I am not too familiar in using intensity graph.
That's no reason to hand over programs for free...
My customer also request me that if the cursor hover on the wafer map, he wants the x,y corrdinates to be displayed.
I also have such a feature. Did you notice the little yellow cursor near the center of the wafer? One could easily change that to use a MouseMove event instead...
He also wants to select some elements in the wafer map and come up with the coordinate values to do some testing.
That's related to the cursor thing...
    Some points:
    - You have a customer that pays you. Why should I offer work for free?
    - You can send me contact dates of your customer, I will make him an offer...
    - When you take an job to provide software you should be able to code the software...
    - The VI(s) are now some years old. I didn't code so well back those days and don't want to hand out those VIs as they are right now.
    - I included some "license management" deep inside that program, I would have to remove this and spend time on testing afterwards...
    - The VIs are based on the PROBER output format used by the customer. All the file handling has to be changed for/by you...

  • Generating 0 and 1 signal using labview Daq card

    Hello,
I’m working on a Project on the On/Off control of a pneumatic cylinder via a 5/2 solenoid valve.
    On State: Valve  O/P  1 pushes cylinder  İ/P 1
                     Value  O/P vents air.
    Off State: Valve O/P 2 pushes cylinder  İ/P 2
                       Value O/P 1 vents air.
By this way we aim to move the clinder forward and back.
We use Labview 9.0. I did not work on pneumatic system before,
I will be happy if you could help me about  2 points.
    1)      How can we  enable the On/Off switching  between the 2  O/P’s  of the solenoid ?
    2)      How can we enable the timing between On and Off States. ( On: 0-5 seconds Off: 0-5 seconds )
Do we need special code for Standard labview blocks will be OK ?
    Thanks a lot.

The digital out are a great place to start, however they are signal lines which means they don't drive a lot of current (~1mA). If your device isn't setup to accept digital signals you may have to use an external transistor to step up your amperage. See the link on here to get started
Labview can provide all the timing you need. I would search through the shipping examples (Help >> Find Examples) for digital output examples, there should be a bunch and one will probably work for you with just a little modification.

  • How to simulate an lcd using labview

    hi
i need to simulate a graphical lcd in pc using labview?(7.1).
i have posted this earlier and got replies.but i  wish to know how to create the lcd screen?
i think i can make use of booleans.but i need the  exact details for creating the graphical screen.
and on how to make each pixel glow(i.e., ON and OFF)
can anyone help me out in this issue..
    regards
    mahi

    Hello Mahi,
I just jumped into this thread and remembered, that a few years ago I had a project to generate c-sources (actually header files to be included into c sources) to show custom made characters on an lcd display. As a side effect it creates what you need, a 3D- boolean array, where every 2D- portion holds a character.
With this program you can define the size of the character and alter it the way you need it. You can import a bmp- file with characters you need (e.g from a screen copy, must be a 1-bit bmp, black&white) and copy little frames from it to make work easier. If you click in the menu at "Fonts->Save Bool Spreadsheet" a text-file will be created which is in spreadsheet-style, where every cell (if you open it in Excel) consists of 0 and 1 according to the character. If you scroll down the front panel, you will find the 3D- Bool array which represents this data.
Just try it, the top-VI is "Fonts V2.vi", it should run properly. I put some screen-copy-bmp file and *.h- files into the zip to make the test easier for you.
    I hope this helps,
    Dave
