How to prevent images from loading with google search results?

Since I updated to FireFox 18 I have been getting images (miniature webpages) with my search results with Google. I thought it was a google problem but I don't have the problem in IE.
Please advise.

How to prevent images from loading?

I am working on creating a web gallery in Dreamweaver CS3. The thumbnails are in a horizontal strip within a layer above the full sized image layer, in other words the strip is hiding part of the image, but only when the image is in a vertical orientation. (the strip has no background, so all that is visible are the actual thumbnails) Upon clicking show/hide text , in a toggle configuration, the strip fades, or shows. On my computer it works perfectly. However, once uploaded, it takes forever to load the images.
The problem: Although I have the thumbnail images are set to preload, all of the full size images are loading as well, which takes alot of time. Is there a way to prevent the full sized images from loading, i.e. only when the thumbnail is clicked?
Frames, in which one frame is thumbnails, and another the is images, is what I normally would use, and have a page for each image. However, for what I have in mind, it will not work (transparency on parts of one frame above another is as far as I can tell not possible).
So how do I prevent images from loading until called for? regards~bill-o

t would help if you posted a link to the page, but I can guess that you have properly diagnosed the cause - the page is encumbered with the weight of all of the full-sized images.
The only way to not have this happen would be to dynamically write the link to the full sized-images on demand, as it were. In other words, the link ISN'T EVEN ON THE PAGE until you have clicked on the corresponding thumbnail, and only at that point is the weight of that image experienced. One easy way to do this is to use the SetText of Container behavior that is part of DW's native arsenal of behaviors. When the thumb is clicked, the SetText behavior is called to write the image link into the enlarged image's container. Need to see a demo? Look here -

The behavior is called "Set Text of Container", and using it will meet all of your requirements.
To use it, you will have to have the following:
1. A page with a 'container' which is to receive the enlarged image - this could be a table cell, a paragraph tag, a div, or even a span tag.
2. That container will have to be identified with an ID attribute and a valid value, e.g., <div id="enlargedImage">.
3. A dummy page containing each enlarged image, placed sequentially on the page.
To implement the effect, do the following:
1. Open the dummy page in Code view, and select the first image's tag, e.g., <img src="images/foo.jpg" width="123" height="256" alt="whatever" /> (XHTML syntax shown here).
2. Switch to the actual page, select a thumb that will 'open' this enlarged image, and enter "javascript:;" (that's colon semicolon) in the 'Link' field of the Property inspector to make this thumbnail image a null link.
3. Apply the Set Text of Container behavior.
4. Paste the clipboard into the dialog for the behavior, and click OK to close the dialog.
5. Examine the Behavior panel to see which mouse event has been defaulted - probably 'onclick'. If you would rather have this be 'onmouseover' use the Behavior panel Event selector (the dark triangle to the right of the event name) to select 'onmouseover'.
5. Repeat from #1 above until all thumbs have been treated.

How do prevent firefox from loading(going to) a website(following a link, etc...) that i never want to see again(example: choose now & click on some link in the future)?

I go to a website(link, etc...) & I never want to go there again, but sometime(anytime) later I come across some page that seems to be useful. I click on a link, and the other required links until I find that it is a waste of time & I then kind of remember having been there in the past & have wasted all this time again. This happening for many different sites over time.
How do I prevent firefox from loading(going to) all websites that I choose to go to when I have in the(distant) past decided that I never wish to return to: block websites with message saying that I blocked it?

Prevent images from loading

Is there anyway I could stop images from loading unless I ask safari to load them? There is a feature like this in apple's mail program that I use and would like to use it in safari also. I'm so tired of seeing advertisments with half-naked women and other perverted things as well.

Images not loading in Google search

Hi,
When I search on Google, images are blank with a question mark in a blue box in the centre.
I am also getting a message on the gmail site that it can't load images.
Websites are loading properly though and it all works on Firefox.
Can anyone help?

1. Extensions
Safari > Preferences > Extensions
Turn them off. See if that helps.
2. If "Develop" menu is enabled, make sure that "Disable Images" is not selected.

How to display the detailed navigation with the Search Results

Hello Gurus,
I was able to display the search results in the same frame rather than opening the new window and getting it displayed. Now when the search results are displayed, my detailed navigation and portal favorites etc.. all the iviews are automatically suppressed.
Please help me displaying the search results with Navigation Panel.

What do you mean by suppressed?
Is it gone, or just closed?
If it is just closed, you can try 2 things:
1. Check if the property "Initial State of Navigation Panel" of the page has any influence.
2. There is a javascript method that opens it.
You can see it by importing the file 'com.sap.portal.layouts.framework.par.bak'.
Navigate to
System Administration -> Support -> Support Desk -> Portal Runtime -> Browse deployment
then the folder
ROOT/WEB-INF/deployment/pcd
and press download.
Import from par to Developer Studio, and check the javascript files under dist/PORTAL-INF for a function called something like 'expandTray'.

IOS 7.1 - Safari issues with Google search results

Since the latest upgrade to iOS on my iPhone 4, I'm have a problem with Safari. When I do a search on Google, the results webpage will not display the forward/back buttons with the change windows button. I have to close Safari, restart and then quickly hit the select window button before the search results display again. All other websites seem to be working fine. Anyone else experience this?

Negative. Try tapping toward the bottom of the screen and the navigation bar will show. You don't have to scroll to make that happen.

How do I stop youtube images from loading after trying to do so in the options?

I have gone into Options under Tools and unchecked the "Load images automatically" box, restarted my computer, and typed in the google search bar, Adrienne Barbeau. Various hits come up, but the one I select is the Adrienne Barbeau Voluptuous link. It is a youtube video. I select it and it loads and plays! Along the right side of the page are other videos whose images also load. So what I did in Options did not work. Then I tried leaving that box checked and clicking on "Exceptions". I typed in "www.youtube.com" and I clicked on "block" and then it was entered in the bigger box below the data entry field. Again, I closed that, clicked on OK, and then restarted my computer. Nothing happened. Nothing was blocked on youtube. There has to be a way to disable youtube images from loading! What is it?!

How can I download images from website with Automator?

Hi!
I want to ask how can I download images from website with Automator like here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQm7Xr9jY0w&t=85m15s (in 1:25:15).
I want to download these images to my downloads folder. Some things have changed and I can't find exact options as then. When I am trying to make it it shows "The action "Download URLs" was not supplied with the required data."
I am using 2012 late iMac with Mac OSX 9.2 (Mavericks).

There are two apps that I know of - and I would also swear that they come from the same developer, although they've different names. Both have free trials and both cost $40 (but both do 'other' video conversion as well).
One is WonderShare - I bought this one and it works very well for downloading YouTube videos as well as converting just about any file format you can think of.
The other is iSkysoft Video Converter (just noticed that it's now $36).
I tried them both and finally decided on WonderShare. Give them both a trial run and decide if you like either one enough to buy it. I don't know of any 'free' software that will allow you to download and convert YouTube videos, but perhaps someone else will come along and know of something...

How to prevent B1 from populating the grid with components?

We have customized a form that pops up when user enters a parent item (of a template-type BOM) in the quotation grid. The form displays the component items and lets the user mark which items to "paste" onto the quotation. However, B1 automatically populates the grid with the component items once focus moves away from the item code column.
How to prevent B1 from populating the grid with components while retaining the parent item in the item code column? I've tried trapping the Validate event, etc. with no success.

Instead of setting the parent item up as a template type BOM, you could set up the list of parent/child items on a user table and use this user table to display the items in your pop-up screen. As the parent item would no longer be a template BOM, Business One would no longer automatically popuplate the grid, and you could write your own code to add only the items selected in your pop-up screen into the grid.

FF connects to several IP addresses on start-up, how to prevent it from happening?

Hi, I am wondering how I can turn Firefox off from connecting to several IP addresses when it starts up?
I have set Firefox to remember my visited web pages/tabs, but to not load until the tab is chosen.
I have also gone through the advices on the following page:

and have followed it carefully and disabled everything but to no avail.
Also in the about:config I have renamed all Google http(s) links to see if it prevents FF from connecting as some of the IP addresses leads to Google (173.194.32.*), but no success.
A search here on Mozilla or Google gives very little on this particular matter.
I have also disabled all addons but doesn't help.
The only way to prevent FF from connecting with internet is to delete "prefs.js" and "sessionstore.js", but then I loose all history.
I have also used a clean FF installation and taken the "prefs.js" and "sessionstore.js" so to not loose history, but it doesn't help.
Can anyone help me out, thanks!

Ok, I have now installed an original version of Firefox 13.0.1, set it up with a basic set of few add-ons for safe browsing being as follow:
* NoScript
* RequestPolicy
* BetterPrivacy
* HTTPS Everywhere
In all cases described below, I browsed to a few pages, afterwards I go to an empty page/tab (about:newtab) before I close the browser, and is set to: "browser.newtabpage.enabled;false" in the hope also a newtab should be empty.

* further on I have disabled a few other things under about:config to stop this "leak", such as webGL, telemetry, rename all google links, etc.
1st test
* I did restart in Off-line mode as described under the link given by jscher2000, when restarting the firewall shows no sign of connection to the internet, not even when I toggle from off-line to on-line.
2nd test
* with all add-ons enabled, I got the following result, see below for the list of IP numbers/info:

As this behavior has apparently nothing to do whether it's portable or non-portable version of Firefox, one can assume it has always been like this as at least between all versions from 13.0.1 to 19.0.2, as the portable version 19.0.2 behaves the same way.

How to copy images from another MC in reversed order??

Hi everyone,
I'm new to AS3 and have been fighting and searching for a solution to this problem for a week now, and I'm VERY close!
I crated a MC holding of a series of images (about 50) and I jump around in it using plenty AS3 scripts (most of which I don't fully understand yet, but I'm working on that to! )
I had to find a way to "rewind" (= play backwards) the MC. Since there is a stop(); command in almost every frame, prevFrame does not work and if I put that in a loop, it goes WAY to fast (but worked).. So I could think of only one way...
Create a new (reverserd) MC with the same image sequence ald reverse it manually and play that one.
This all works fine (very proud of it ).
Now my question:
To get this to work for multiple image sequences, I have to load all images twice (once in MC_1 and again in MC_2 and select them and reverse them).
Not a big one, unless you want to create MANY of those SWF's...
Is it possible to load the 50 images of the first MC in reverse into the second MC dynamically? JUST the images, noting else.
extra info: the MC_2 is already in the lib(empty) and placed on the stage.
something like:

I cannot direct you in the loading of the images approach, it will be too complicated, and will probably not work anyways... when you move away from a frame that has dynamic content, you lose the content. So basically, there is nothing practical in taking that approach.
I do niot understand what the problem will be with the enterFrame/prevFrame approach. If everything you can do with the mouse is already used (which I doubt) by the first mc, then there is nothing else you can do with this file. You probably just need to rethink your control scheme. You should search Google for "AS3 slideshow tutorial", and to lighten up your design, add "XML" in that search.

How to prevent apps from syncing in the new version of itunes?

Hey there.
I brang my macbook to Applestore cause it had a problem and they downloaded the latest version of itunes. Everything's fine and my music, videos and apps are in the new itunes like before. But now, when I want to sync my iphone, a pop window asks me to give the password of the itunes account I used to download some of my apps or it will delete them and their data. The problem is that one of these accounts is an old friend's one and I actually lost all contact with him. So basically now I can't sync my iphone at all or it will delete all my apps.
Has anyone any idea how to sort that out? Or at least knows how to prevent apps from syncing in this new version of itunes?

Getting a "Your network preferences prevent us from communicating with the server" error in dw 5.5

Hello, lately i noticed dw 5.5 can't seem to use browserlab, it says "Your network preferences prevent us from communicating with the server"
I can connect to BC and other ftp servers no problem, I've also turned off my firewall to be sure and it still won;t connect.
The only info I found on this error is a tip on how to turn off browserlab, which in turn gets this error, Not sure why you would wnat to shut the feature off, but no tip to turn it on. The tip on editing the registry doesn;t help because itsyays to change the registry key to 0 and all communication of adobe products will be turned off, however the key does exist and is set to 1, so I can;t even try that tip in reverse to enable, itshould be communication already.
Any help would be appreciated, I am just competinga site and was about to check it in all the browsers, an incredibly useful and time saving feature, but I can't now.

Phil, the only screenshot I've seen from you is the error message (and I can't seem to view the others you just posted), so apologies if I told you something you'd already tried. We still think there should be a solution to this, it's just that debugging issues this way can be a little difficult, so please bear with us.
At this point our best guess is that there is a registry setting that got changed that is causing the issue for both of you. We have been able to repro the issue on Windows XP by setting the following 32-bit registry entry to 0. The issue was fixed by changing it back to 1. We've also tested on Windows 7 and verified the same thing with the 64-bit registry entry. Apologies if I'm suggesting something that any of you has already tried, but no details were provided about which registry entry you checked or what article you were looking at.
