How to prevent rewind of FLV files in Captivate?

A coleague and I are creating an e-Learning web site, using Captivate 6. Each screen (slide) has an FLV playing. We want the FLV to stop on the last frame of the movie. It keeps automatically rewinding, despite the "don't rewind" checkbox in Captivate being OFF.
The FLVs have standard metadata (duration, width, etc).
How can we prevent auto-rewind?
When we publish to HTML5, the movies correctly stop on the last frame.
Any advice gratefully received.

Shekhar,
Thanks for your reply. Answers as follows:
1. The FLV begins playing automatically, as it is intended to do.
2. When the FLV reaches the last frame, it automatically rewinds to the first frame and stops there.
3. We want it to stop on the last frame, as the information on the last frame needs to be reviewed by the trainee who is using the e-Learning site we are creating.
4. In a normal Flash player, you can prevent the autorewinding by setting the "autorewind" parameter to False. We cannot see how to do the EQUIVALENT using Captivate. This is what we need explained.
5.  The problem of autorewind only exists in the swf mode; the HTML version does not autorewind.
6. My colleague is the one doing the Captivate programming and he is tied up with deadlines on our project, so we can't set up and send a demo file to you.
7. I don't understand why this difficulty exists: we are not trying to do something unreasonable. Surely someone, somewhere has already wanted to freeze the last frame? What we want to do is smple. The question is clear enough. Anyone who is an expert in Captivate will have seen this quesiton before.

  • Any ideas how I can view this flv file?

I have CS3 Flash using Flash Player 9 and Actions Script 3.  I am publishing a progressve loading swf, which has an absolute path to an flv of http://www.haleygroup.com/work_images/basics.flv.  The swf file is located here http://www.haleygroup.com/work_images/basics.swf, along withn the html, flv, and skin.  When I click the button (configured by an XML file) on my web site to view the file, I get a flickering box.  Other flvs in the XML file are configured the same way and work fine.  See this flickering box at http://www.haleygroup.com/, enter site and go to "et al" page, then click "Basics".  Any ideas how I can view this flv file?  Many, many thanks.

I just changed the path to a relative path of just "basics.flv" and still have the problem.  See swf at http://www.haleygroup.com/work_images/basics.swf.  Thanks.

  • How can I mask on flv file in flash cs4?

    Hi,
I am new to Flash CS4. I saw one video on how to use flv file in flash and mask it. It is working fine when I am using the following option while importing a video file to flash:
Load external video with playback component
But when I tried with the following option it doesn't show the background, it shows only movie which is playing nicely. But not the background which has a bill board.
Embed FLV in SWF and play in timeline
It seems the mask is not working with this option.
How to solve this problem? Please help.
Actually it should be like the above.
But when I am using the option Embed FLV in SWF and play in timeline while importing the flv video, getting the result like below: It is not showing the Bill board as above.
    See the layers created:

    Hi,
I Tried with CS4 by creating mask layer and importing video , layers created were same as you have created and it is working for me .

  • How can I hide my flv files?

    hello,
I made a flash project that I published as an exe file. this project calls a number of external flv files. Now, I want to hide these files, because it's my own work and I don't want anyone to steal it, how can I hide these files?
my project will be published on a cd.
    thank you for your help

Well the best feature of having all the content on the CD is that it's all self contained, no need to go someplace else (like the Internet) to get content. But it certainly is possible to store the .flv files on a Web server and have Flash content on the CD go to the Internet to download and play the videos. Little more complex to get it all working AND then the user must have an Internet connection available or they can't see the videos. But even then... if it's on the Internet it can be copied.
Or look into sone type of encryption program:
    http://www.truecrypt.org/
    http://www.axantum.com/axcrypt/
but I'm not sure that you can use the content without first decrypting the data.
As for watermarking and adding a copyright notice, this is normally done when the video is first being edited in whatever software is used to capture and edit the original video file. Once the file is already created, there are software programs to add the mark... something like this:

    Best of luck!

  • How do I protect my FLV files? or How to encrypt and decrypt FLV files using AIR?

    Hi,
I am working on an AIR application, which is developed on eLearning concept. The application mainly deals with flv files. The application contains a video player component, which will stream flv files from an Apache Server and played in my application. Here my concern is I would like to protect my flv files some how against users who may stream them from Apache Server and use them without my application.
I thought of with an idea to do it. But I don't know whether it will work or not. So I am requesting for your suggestions and better ways to do this with a sample.
    Here is my thought:
I would like to place the encrypted FLV files at Apache Server side [ Need to know how to encrpt the FLV files using Flex]
As my AIR application send a request for a FLV file, the Apache server should send the decryption key and a stream of FLV file.
AIR application should take the decryption key, stream of flv file and it should capable enough to decrypt the FLV file and play it in my application. [ But I don't know how to encrypt/decrypt FLV files through flex]
I can do encryption of FLV files using Mac Address of Apache Server system and using Java. But I don't know how can I decrypt the same FLV file ( Encrypted using Mac Address and java ) at AIR application side.
So I would be greatfull If any body help me in encrypting and decrypting of FLV file with a sample using Flex 3.0.
    Thanks

Is it because the portable drive is NTFS format and the Mac wont recognise this? If so what do I do?
Yes, this is exactly what is causing the problem. Macs cannot write to NTFS formatted drives, only read. You must move the documents to the internal HDD/SSD of the Mac to be able to edit them.
Or, since you say you don't want to move the documents to the internal storage, you'll need to format the external HDD as FAT32.

  • How do I play an .flv file ?

I got an email with a .flv attachment.  I understand this is a flash file. What do I need to do to play this file?
    Windows XP 32 bit
Your site check says I have flash version 10.1.53.64
I never explicitly installed flash, I understand it came bundled with my Chrome browser.
The little twirling thing played ok on your site so I think the software is ok, I just don't know how to invoke it to play the file in my email
    Ed

You have to install Flash Professional to get the"stand alone" Flash Player. It's a testing component for projects without having to open them in a browser/webpage.
As far as "invoking" an flv. You'd do it like any other media file. "Double click". If Windows then asks you to choose a program to open it with (assuming you downloaded VLC Player), choose VLC as the default for flv files and it will open, your flv will play.
I have about 1500 flv files downloaded from YouTube and hundreds of other news and tube sites. They play just like AVI or MPEG files in VLC.

  • How do I convert an flv file to still images?

This may sound stupid, but I have a downloaded flv file, and I want to use about
8 seconds  to make still images so I can trace into Illustrator and then export it into Flash. (both are older versions).
    Is this possible?
It is for an animinated logo.
    Thanx.

Change the a to an r so it reads .m4r Drag the file to the desktop, double click and it ends up in ringtones folder.

  • How do I replay a FLV file with flvPlayback AS3

    Hey Everyone.
Pretty new to Flash and AS3- so I apologize in advance if my terminology is all wacked out.   I've researched this topic for the better part of a day and cannot find my solution.
I've got a .flv file uploaded on my server that plays just fine.  I created the video in Apple Motion, exported out a .MOV reformatted it using Adobe Media Encoder.  Imported into Flash using the import video menu command.  I ended up with a .swf and a .flv.  I upload both to my server, built a webpage and use the swf to play the .flv.
Anyway.  Everything plays.  I need a button that a viewer can push and replay the video once it stops.
I can create shapes in flash and can turn them into buttons.  Easy enough.  Seems like I need to create a script to go with that frame in the timeline?
I keep reading about creating a listener and an event? But it's confusing finding answer because the is no clarification whether people are using AS2 or AS3 and I feel like I'm just chasing my tail.
Can anyone point me to a tutorial or help me out?  Any advice is appreciated.
You can see the video here.
    http://www.evisland.com/Pages/How_It_Works.html

What you need to do is
1  drag the movie to the stage.
2  give frame 1 a lable of "frame1"    You can do this by clicking on frame one, then in the property inspector there is a field labled frame lable.
3  Go to the last frame and make a play button.  Give the button an instance name of "player"
4  here is the event listener code that will activate when the "player" button is clicked.  It will go back to frame 1 and play.
To Clarify this is Action Script 3
    stop();
    player.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,startOver);
    function startOver(event:MouseEvent)
    gotoAndPlay("frame1");
    Thats all.

  • How to play and stop flv files through NetStream in AIR Application

    Hi,
In a folder I have 'n' number of flv file, which are DRM protected. when the user try to play those files for the first time through my AIR application, it will prompt for username and password and gets the license/voucher from the server and store it in AIR Runtime. so that from the next time onwords it won't prompt for username and password as because it already has license/voucher.
My problem is assume there are 500 files, such that for each file the user has to enter his credentials[username and password]. which is a stupid thing. I want to avoid this process by implementing this process internally/programetically. By playing/accessing each file through netstream from the folder and setDRMAuthenticationCredentials for that file and stop the stream. Here I am able to play each file but I am failed to stop it. I mean to say I will get the license for all the flv files internally[while loading my AIR application], such that user should not be interrupted for his credentials for each file.He should play as if he is accessing/playing a non-DRM protected file. I will be very thank full if any one help me out in this.

  • How to see an imported FLV file on the timeline

I have a feeling this is a really basic question, but I am pretty new to Flash. I've imported an FLV file. This file is a slideshow of photographs with a Ken Burns effect already applied. I was hoping that I would be able to see the video frames on a timeline. What I then want to be able to do is jump to different frames (approximately where the photo changes) as a result of clicking buttons.
I thought this would be a good project to do in Flash as a way to learning.
    Lots of help needed
    Thanks,

If you imported it, embedded it as an MC, you should be able to scrub the timeline and see the video change - assuming your timline is the length of the video. Double check the frame rate of your video and the frame rate on your timeline for an accurate match.
Try importing to a fresh flash file too, to make sure nothing in your other flash file is hindering your progress.

  • How to Play Slow motion FLV File

    Hi,
I would like to play a Slow Motion FLV File in Flex using Action Script but unable to find any way to do so. I have looked into the Action Script API proposed by Adobe but couldn't find any way. Can you people please help me in this regard?
    Thanks in advance...

Well I guess you can't do it with play() since it will go real time speed so if thinking out of the box you could edit the movie itself or pause the video and set a timer to move to a specific time location of the flv so it will act like a slow motion. I guess that would require for you to export your movie with a lot of keyframes and I still can't be sure if it would work Good luck with that!

  • How to prevent user from saving file on local drives

    Hi,
We have a file server set up on a Windows 2003 Server. Is there any way to restrict users so that they can only open and view the file but they can't save it on their local drives? If not, can this be done with Windows 2008 or 2012 or any Linux
server or any document management software?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

If you can open the file from a client then generally there is not much you can do to prevent them saving it locally. Unless you restrict the clients access to save anything at all on their local hard drive which depending of the security requirements of
the data you are accessing could be a valid option.
Depending how critical / sensitive that information you could look at alternate method of accessing that file. In my experience securing important / secret data comes down to access procedures just as much if not more than technical solutions.
Maybe restrict access to that file to a handful of trusted users who can then inform the "untrusted" users of any information they need.
Like I say this is a procedural issue as much as anything else.

  • How to prevent viewing a .doc file without logging?

    Hi,
I have a file called phoneNumbers.doc(MS-Word doc) file. When a user presses the link for this file, I want to show him only if the user is logged in, if not re-direct to login.jsp page. How do I make sure if the user is logged in. I am using Tomcat 4.X as my jsp and servlet engine. I want to prevent users to see this if they directly enter the url without logging in.
Does any body have any idea, how I can use security realms in tomcat to achieve this or any other way? Please Help!
    Thanks in advance.

Do you have any kind of DB in the background of this?
Is it just an JSP page with an HTML link?
This might sound like a lot of work to do, but here's what I suggest:
    1) Create a JSP login page that will forward to the servlet mentioned above
    2) Have your servlet check in a DB if the person's information is correct. If so, JSP:FWD to the JSP with the link, else back to login page
    3) Before going to the JSP with the link, your servlet should get a session and set a session variable called "IsLogged" to "1", for example.
    4) On the JSP with the link, change the link to be a function call in your JSP. This function will check "IsLogged". If the value is "1", show DOC, else JSP:FWD to login page. You can also have a Javascript popup tell the user that he/she is not logged in.
    5) Finally, on the JSP with the link, you should have a log out button that will essentially set "IsLogged" to "0" and JSP:FWD to the login page. Make sure that the login page has some kind of message that says that you have logged the person out, or else it can be confusing to find onesself on a logIN page when we just logged OUT.
This is just an idea, but I have done this many times before and it works beautifully.
    Hope this helps,
    Haig

  • How to prevent problematic charaters in file names

I'm working in a network where I often have to exchange files with PCs and web designers. Often, I have found out that the use of accented letters and even punctations like the slash in file names can lead to much problems when sharing or backing up files.
As the admin, I'm wondering how I could let users in my network use these letters in applications, but not in the Finder.
If possible, I'd like to trigger a notice to the users each time they type such letters, so I can tell them why it's better not to use them.
Anyone has an idea how this could be done without putting too much overhead on the CPU?

Did you ever figure out a solution to this?  I am looking to do the exact same thing.

  • How to prevent iTunes from hijacking file associations ...?

    hi Folks,
I receive phone voicemail messages as WAV files as email attachments.  On my iMac, running Snow Leopard, these WAV files appear as handy little "player" icons in the body of my email, so I just click the "play" arrow to listen to them,
However on my Macbook Pro, 10.7.5, the email contains a tiny square WAV thumbnail, and - annoyingly - Itunes opens every time I click on it, even though I've delegated Quicktime player to open the files in the OPEN WITH > OTHER dialogue.
Is there any way to prevent this from happening, or better still, to have the WAV appear as a "player" as it does in Snow Leopard's MAIL program?
    thanks ....

this happens on my iMac running 10.6.8, as well.
I try to open a WAV or AIFF or MP3, simply to LISTEN TO IT, and ITUNES opens up and adds it, without permission to its growing "library" of crap that I don't want in it.
I 've tried the "open with" dialogue in FINDER, assigning Quicktime Player as the new default "OPENER" for these sound files, and 5 seconds later, iTunes grabs it again.
What's up with this?  Why is such a simple no-brainer so absolutely frustrating?  Do I have to become a computer programmer to fix this?
