How to program in LabVIEW to check if a vi exists in a *.llb file?

This should be very simple, but I cannot find a way to do it. Can somebody help? Thanks.
Ian

if you want to do this in code then go to openG.org and download the commander you will get a host of file vi's that will do what you want. it is free and will also give you plenty of vi's to do lots of other things

i want to send 10 bit ADC from PIC mCu via serial communicaton.
i send it separetly 8 bit first then the other 2 bit (2 bit --> with zero at 6 bit from LSB).
how to program in labview to capture those two packet and then combine it together
so i have 10 bit in lab view
    thank you

Close, but now quite. You need to specify to the VISA Read how many bytes to read, not how many bits. Thus, the input would be 2, not 16. It's also not clear why you're trying to use the "String to Byte Array". The Type Cast will give you a number based on what data type you wired. You're basically telling it how to interpret the string. In this case we're telling it to interpret the string a 16-bit value, so we'll get a 16-bit integer. I know you said you wanted a 10-bit, but you can't have that. You'll get a 16-bit with 6 bits set to zero. Note: I did not completely understand what you said so we may need to change this slightly, but we want to get the communication and reading collection working first.
Also, since you seem to be setting this in a loop you probably want to monitor this or to collect the data. For that you need a shift register. See attached for a modified version of your attempt. You need to set the datatype to I16 or U16 based on whether the value you get from the PIC is signed or unsigned.

So I would arrange all of the vis so that you minimize the number of bends in wires. Also consider using subvis when you have portions of code preforming the same operations. It looks like you extract a portion of your code and then do some statistics on that portion. Consider making a subvi that you can resue. Also check out the following

  • Would anyone know how to program the Labview code for the following: Recording an analog input signal for 100msec and then repeating this 100 times in order to finally have an averaged signal (waveform)?

The attached VI collects 100 ms of data and does a rolling average. Since your sub-VI were not included I created this from scratch. There are comments in the code. I hope this is what you need.

You should probably start with the examples that ship with LabVIEW. For a good
server-to-single-client example, check out Data Client.vi and Data Server.vi
from the shipping examples, and for a good server-to-multiple-client example,
try the Date Client.vi/Date Server.vi pair instead. All of these can be found
    in the following VI library:
    \examples\comm\tcpex.llb
or via the Search Examples interface in LabVIEW. There are certainly
additional examples on the NI site, but there's no better place to start than
    with these.

  • Does anyone know how to display (in LabVIEW) the memory use during execution of an image and data acquisition VI to predict when it is time to cease the acquisition to prevent the program crashing?

Does anyone know how to display (in LabVIEW) the memory use during execution of an image and data acquisition VI to predict when it is time to cease the acquisition to prevent the program crashing?
I am acquiring images and data to a buffer on the edge of the while loop, and am finding that the crashing of the program is unpredictable, but almost always due to a memory saturation when the buffers gets too big.
    I have attached the VI.

  • How to change font size in check printing program in AP Invoice

I modified prt file for code 199 like below
    code "199" esc "(8U" esc "(s0p12.00h10.00v0s0b3T" esc "&k11.75H"
Font size changed for last page only which prints checks, for Void pages its printed with default font. For Page 1 printed with default font and page 2 has reduced font. This change is not intiallized for all pages.
Please let me know if you any of you know how to change fonts.

  • I want to write a program in LabView then pass the test results to teststand to check if it pass or fail without displaying the test stand program,

I want to write a program in LabView and create an execute but I want to be able to pass test results to test stand to find it the unit pass ar fail the test then save the data to a database. How would i go about it.

What's confusing is your statement that you want to do this "without display the test stand program". You can minimize the TestStand UI to the task bar but if you don't want TestStand to be running, how can TestStand evaluate the result. Explain a little more please.
In the message body of your post, you just say you want to create a LabVIEW exe and pass the results to TestStand. What I would recomend is that instead of an exe, you create a dll and use TestStand's DLL adapter to call it and return the results. TestStand will evaluate it and do the logging.

  • How To create a Buffer Application Program in LabVIEW?

    Dear all:
Can someone advise me on how to implement a buffer application for LabVIEW.
Basically I have 2 application programs than run continously in paralell.
    1) LabVIEW Data Logging & Plotting Program. It takes 90 ms to excute its code
    2) C++ Data Acquisition Program. It Samples the data from a Reflective Memory Card (on the PCI bus of my PC)
at 1ms and creates a Buffer where it store one sample per channel every 1 ms.
I know LabVIEW have the Code Interface Node to call a C program but since both (The LabVIEW and the C) are runing (one slower than the other) in Parallel I need to somehow interrupt the C program from LabVIEW and get from it the data that it as collected so far.
    Any suggestio
n will be highly appreciated. I attach txt file with a little more description of the problem.
    Thank You very much.

    Hi Felix,
The best architecture for this application would be to have the C++ program divided into two threads. One thread is continuously acquiring data and placing it in a queue. The other "handling" thread will read data from the queue and serve it up to your LabVIEW application.
Much better than using the Code Interface Node, build the C++ application into a DLL. You can then call a function from your LabVIEW program to start the acquisition, and then calls to the handling thread function will return data to LabVIEW.
    I hope this helps.

  • How to program labview to output continous voltage using NI PCI-MIO-16XE-50

I am an undergraduate student working on a research project. I need to program a labview block diagram to output continous voltage using DAQ NI PCI-MIO-16XE-50. I am new to this and having problems with formulating.
For example, if i need to output 4V, how to output 4V from the DAQ.
I know that there are 2 channels for output. But having problems figuring out which pins to use as well.
If there are any examples, tutorials or whatever hints i could get in order to solve this, that would be great. I am simply confused and wondering where to start.
    Thanks in advance.
    Confused undergraduate student

Here is an example of how to do some basic analog and digital communication. Since you need a 4V signal you are going to want to use Analog Output.

  • How to program limit switches as on/off switches using LabView

I am attempting to write a program in LabView (using an NI USB-6008 controller) which will turn a pump on or off based on the water level in a container.  I am using a floatation device along with limit switches (something like an electronic version of a toilet float switch) which I would like to use to signal the pump to turn on or off.  When the bottom limit switch is triggered, I want the pump to turn on and remain on until the top limit switch is triggered.  When the top switch is triggered, I want the pump to turn off until the bottom switch is triggered.  I can't just use a case structure because the pump would only stay on when the switch was actually being depressed.  After searching around, I've seen some indication that you could potentially use a toggle command, a trigger command, or an event structure to do this, but I'm not sure which (if any) would actually work best or the particulars about how to configure those commands to do what I want.  I am still learning LabView, so simplicity in answering would be appreciated.  Thank you.

    Use a state machine architecture.
Read both digital lines for the "limit" switches. Depending on the reading, switch on or off the pump (in case a limit was triggered), otherwise, keep the status of the pump.
As water level shouldnt rise/sink very fast (i hope), a polling time of about 200-500ms sounds reasonable.

  • How to call another program from LabVIEW?

    Hi!
Is there anyone that can answer my question? I have found a similar thread where the user needed to call labVIEW from some program but I want to do the opposite.
I made a program in labVIEW that communicates via COM-ports (serial communication) with the processor I use at the job (Ubicom´s IP2022).
Now I want to add more funcionality to this program. I want to be able to program re-program IP2022 through this LabVIEW application.
The programming is done via an Ethernet-dongle. I start a program called IP2kProg, I write the ip-address of the dongle and the program-file (.elf) downloads at this address. But how can I do this from
LabVIEW, do I need to open IP2kProg or can I send some values to it via LabViEW?
    Ant suggestions?
    Thanks, Amir

    Amir,
    There are couple of options:
    1.  If your IP2kProg program has a command-line interface, you can use LabVIEW's System Exec.vi and send the commands and parameters to it.
    2.  If the IP2kProg has an API / exported functions, you can call them from LabVIEW using the Call Library Function Node.
Hope this gives you some ideas.
