How to properly take care of a MacBook air 11 inch late 2010 refurbished

How do you properly take care of a apple macbook air refurbished late 2010 11 inch? It's working well now since I got it from a trusted website (apple) but anything can break? How do I make it live long if I have to use it everyday?

1.If someone hacks it
don't visit any questionable websites (i.e. torrent, adult entertainment)
2.if it breaks because something hard bumps into it
That may happen, just do your best to prevent it from happening.  As suggested, you can purchase a case for it, but there is only so much someone can do to prevent an accident that will cause damage.
3.if you lay something on it
Don't do that.
4.What'll happen if you drop it
no one can predict whay may happen if you drop it.  It may be fine, or it could result in a costly repair.
5.Openings that allow crumbs/water into it
Don't eat/drink around your mac.

  • Hi I just got my new Apple TV and I cant figure out how to connect it with My MacBook Air (11-inch, Late 2010- Processor  1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) OSX Version 10.8

    Hi
Hi I just got my new Apple TV and I cant figure out how to connect it with My MacBook Air (11-inch, Late 2010- Processor  1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) OSX Version 10.8

Are you referring to mirroring or you just unable to set up homesharing.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). It also requires the computer to be using wi-fi.

why cant i install windows 8 on a macbook air 13-inch, Late 2010?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can install Windows 8 on your computer because it can run Windows 8, but you can't install the Windows support software that makes Windows run properly, so probably things like the Wi-Fi card, the sound and the graphic card may not work without these drivers.
That's just an Apple restriction. Apple has decided to give Windows 8 support to the most recent Macs, leaving old Macs with Windows 7. Unfortunately, to run Windows 8 properly, the only option is to install it on a virtual machine. Apart from that, if you want to install Windows 7 with Boot Camp, you can do it

  • Has anyone else noticed their macbook air (11-inch, Late 2010) fan running constantly?

Since i updated to 10.8.4, i've noticed the fan is running almost constantly on my Macbook Air (11-inch, Late 2010) and the computer gets very hot. I looked in Activity Monitor and saw that both Safari and Finder were using CPU, but it's by no means spiked. Anyone else notice this?

Try resetting your system's System Management Controller (SMC) to see if that helps the problem. The SMC is responsible for managing the feedback for the fans to respond to temperature changes.
See here for how to reset it for your system: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964

  • The internet on my Mac OSX v10.6.8 is running extremely slow. I have a macbook air 13-inch late 2010. Please help!

The Internet (firefox, safari) are loading VERY slow. At first I thought it was just my school's website acting up, but after talking to their technical support they had me delete cache and cookies, make sure all programs are updated including plug ins like adobe, flash plug in etc. All of these things didn't help when I did them.  On my school's website the videos do not load completely so they are choppy when viewed. After finishing an activity it won't load my score, during activities the page constantly has errors. It was just this website that was slow to load but now it seems like any website I go to is very slow. I am wondering if the loading problem is contributed to the computers memory, or lack of. However, I am not expert when it comes to computers so I don't know how to figure out how much free disc space I have/memory etc. I'm wondering if this is the problem.  I have increased my activity on this computer for school, including more documents, downloading etc. So do you think the slowness of the internet is contributed to the memory or disc space? I believe I have snow leopard. it is MAC OS X 10.6.8 with Memory: 2GB 1067 MHz DDR3. Please help! Thank you!

To find out how much space you have & what is left, open up Disk Utility/Machintosh HD/First Aid.  The info will be at the bottom of the window.
Sluggish Finder - Bunch of icons on your desktop?  An overcrowded desktop slows down your Mac.
Get rid of needless Finder calculations - Open a window in Finder/View/Show View Options:  ensure "Calculate All Sizes" option is unchecked.
Internet related - It's likely that your broadband connection is the bottleneck.  You can check your speed on http://www.speedtest.net to see how fast your connection is.  If your web browser specifically performs slowly, quit and relaunch it.
If browser remains sluggish, empty its cache.
    Safari/Empty Cache
Firefox/Preferences - select the Network tab of the Advanced preferences and click the "Clear Now" button in the "Offline Storage" area.
Application related - Launch "Activity Monitor" - Applications/Utilities - click the CPU heading and see what float to the top.  If an application takes up a large chunk of CPU and won't let it go, it could be dragging down your Mac's performance.  Quit it by clicking the Quit Process button at the top of the Activity Monitor window.
Too little ram - max out your ram.
Solution may be found if you search in the "More Like This" section over in the right column.

  • Macbook air 11.6' (late 2010 model) screen dims after few seconds and does not recover.

    Hi,
I am running win7 under bootcamp on a macbook air 11.6'' late 2010 model (1.4 dual core, 4Gb memory, 64Gb ssd). A few days ago the screen started to dim a few seconds after bootup. Even if I pres any of the keys it does not light up again. However, if I connect to an external display it works fine. I use it for work and often I am mobile so I really need the display to work. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

Found another forum with the same problem: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1560774, including another youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaGOKuwqsaw. The severity of the problem in this link looks worse than my problem. Mine is less severe than what's in this video, but more severe that what's in the first youtube link I provided.
The posts in that forum claim: 1) the problem began after upgrading to a newer OS, 2) it occurs after waking from sleep, and 3) that closing the lid for 10 seconds is a work-around fix.
Would be great if Apple fixes this. I won't buy another Mac, desktop or laptop, if they don't. Macs are too expensive to only get 2 years from, and in my opinion thay are not that much better than other options. I'm going to post a bug report on Apple's web site.

  • HT204291 My macbook air was purchased late 2010. Does that mean it will not support mirroring? Can I purchase anything to enable mirroring

My macbook air was purchased late 2010. Does that mean it will not support mirroring? Can I purchase anything to enable mirroring?

Your computer is too old to support native mirroring. You can use 3rd party software like Airparrot, though results will vary so try it first.

  • LCD Display exchanged on Macbook Air 11,6" Late 2010

    Hi guys,
I just replaced the broken LCD display of my Macbook Air. It worked out quite well, apart from the fact that I accidentally scratched the white plastic film that's located right behind the LCD panel itself. I think this is kind of a light filter as there's now more light coming through the scratched spots.
Do you guys know how could I fix this issue? Can I order that plastic film somewhere?
    Thanks in advance,
    shamy

You replaced the panel or the whole assembly?
I'm not aware of any place that sells the plastic film separately as it comes with the panel. That being said if you reach out to places like PowerBook Medic, iFixit, FixAppleNow and/or iResQ they might be able to assist you with replacement options as they're the "Big 5" vendors that I've used for DIY service parts in the past.

  • Macbook Air 3.1 (late 2010) black screen after 10.9.4 update

    Macbook Air3.1
    MBA31.0061.B07
    SMC 1.67f10
A few days ago has updated Mavericks to 10.9.4 and started having problems with the screen. During use is - not in sleep mode - the screen suddenly goes black. Sounds (Volume), keyboard (Caps lock indicator) work. When connecting an external monitor too, everything is OK - but in the settings of the monitor's no built-in display-only external. Rebooting doesn't help. Reset SMC and NVRAM/PRAM helps in one case out of 10. Can work, but maybe not. The last tool that has helped is to boot in Safe mode (Shift+Power) and then restart.
What could be the problem? Hardware (graphic card, controllers etc.) or this is a software problem? 10.9.4 update? EFI? Read about problems with MBA 2013 with a black screen and Mavericks 10.9.4, but I have a MBA 2010.

    Hi d.e.v.a,
There are a few more things I would suggest you do to troubleshoot the video issue with your MacBook Air, detailed in this article -

You have already done many of them, but a few remain.

  • Does anyone know how to reset the fan on a MacBook Pro 13-inch (Late 2011) to it's factory setting speed (Maybe Terminal may help?)

I have a late-2011 13-inch MacBook Pro running OS X Yosemite. (Standard configuration).
My problem is that I downloaded a fan control application and it worked perfectly, but it started to get annoying so I deleted it.
Does anyone know how to reset the fan speed back to factory settings (Maybe a command in terminal?)

    Hello damo1177,
It should help to reset your system's SMC and NVRAM.

  • Installing Archlinux on Macbook Air (3.2, late 2010 model)

    Hi there,
I have been running Arch in a virtual machine for some time now and are now ready to take the leap and once and for all get rid of Lion.
I would prefer an Arch only install, but if it is easier to keep OSX around then so be it.
However there seems to be some discrepancies between the guides I have read, regarding whether an EFI-boot or BIOS compatibility is the way to go.
Furthermore I can't seem to figure out if the process is made simpler by using Archboot?
Is it possible someone can elaborate a little on what the best way to go about this is?
    Kind regads,
    Skrummel

Thanks for the input, I still do not have a working Arch install, but these have been my steps so far:
    1. Shrink OSX Partition
    2. Install rEFIt
    3. Boot Archboot from CD (external drive)
    4. Make /boot and / partitions for Arch. The partition table looks something like this (written from memory):
    partition mountpoint size type label
    /dev/sda1 /boot/efi 200MiB vfat EFI
    /dev/sda2 - ? hfs+ Mac OS X
    /dev/sda3 - ? hfs+ Recovery
    /dev/sda4 /boot 200MiB ext2 Boot
    /dev/sda5 / 50GiB ext4 Arch
    5. Reboot and update rEFIt MBR partition table
    6. Reboot Archboot. Follow installation guide.
6a. At the "Prepare Harddrive" stage, set hard drive mount points to the ones created with parted.
6b. At "Install Bootloader" stage install GRUB (legacy) onto /boot.
6c. Modify config file to include "reboot=pci" as per Macbook install Wiki.
    7. Restart
    8. "Boot Linux from Hard drive" shows up as an option in rEFIt.
    9. Grub loads and displays Arch and Arch Fallback as options
Booting commences but fails with the error "No Root Device". Same thing happens if I try to boot Fallback.
    Any ideas?
