How to read a jdbc trace
Hi,
I've just run a trace using ojdbc14_g. Can some one please tell me how i can find out if the the query I'm interested in has executed successfully and how many results it returned?
I will post an excerpt of the trace if required.
Thanks,
Ping
Oracle suggests that using the trace facility with java.util.logging is primarily for hunting down bugs in the JDBC driver. What you seem to be asking for is pretty standard information whose status can easily be identified within the application. What would be your need to use the trace facility rather then stardard Java exception handling? I doubt the JDBC driver would know how many results (rows?) it returned, although it may know how many of the results (row) the application explicitly requested and received (that is there will be no total row count associated with a query).
I haven't used the trace facility myself, and I'm assuming the only time I might use it is if Oracle support required the trace. You have obviously figured out how to run a trace, have you looked at it? I believe the trace has 3 levels of detail and defaults to level 2 (lots of stuff), but Oracle recommends starting with level 1. If you didn't run with level 1 perhaps you should try and see if the smaller output is simpler for the layman to understand.

VC 7.1 SP05 unspecified error - how to read the debug trace?
Hello,
I am trying to consume a enterprise service with VC 7.1 SP05.
Beforehand, I have tested the parameters using WSADMIN, and I know what I have to pass.
Unfortunately, when feeding the same parameters to my VC model, I get a error message, and I cannot find out what is the problem. By reading the default trace, i cannot extract the relevant information.
The error message I get from VC is:
"Error occurred during Data Service, L_SRV Execution"
The trace level is set to "debug", but as said, I am not able to find the relevant part in the trace file.
Maybe someboy could teach me??
Thanks,
DominikHi,
I just sent the trace file.
The service has several inputs.
https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ESpackages/FindDemandPlanKeyFigureValueby+Elements
I am passing parameters on the top level, and then using a data bridge, two more parameters one level below.
Thanks,

How to read the CallManager traces?
Hello,
I've collected a couple of CallManager traces in order to do some troubleshooting. Is there any tool or software available to read the traces in a simple way? At this moment when I open the text file, I can see only codes. Any help will be highly appreciated.

maybe this will show the info the way you're looking for, i know for sure this one can handle H225 and H245 message since it's the one i use when i want to look at messages from a specific call since it can filter them by protocol or call reference among others. i always end up reading the txt but it's a lot easier if you have the timestamps to look at when there are a lot of calls on the same file =)

How to read a trace file?
Can someone point me to a good resource where I can learn how to read a trace file? I have read somewhere that TKPROF can leave some things unattended. Worse, it reports things incorrectly.
I usually recommend use Trace Analyzer (TRCA), Note:224270.1
It includes all the details found on TKPROF, plus additional information normally requested and used for a transaction performance analysis. Generated report is more readable and extensive than text format used on prior version of this tool and on current TKPROF. -

DeepakHello Deepak,
Here is the link with all infos how to use Log Viewer to view logfiles:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/57/5f1140d72dc442e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
As all program generated logs are written to Default Trace file, it is the only file to check for logs.

You can perform the following activities using the Log Viewer UI:
● Connect to and view logs on multiple servers
● Add log files
● Add log files from a log directory
● Customize the columns for the log records that are displayed
● Search for log records that meet specific criteria
● Filter log records by specific criteria
● Sort log records
● Merge log files within and across servers
● Use the refresh function to display the latest logs
● Open archives of log files
● Save log files to comma separated value (CSV) files and open them using Microsoft Excel. -
How to read trace files alerted in the alert.log file
Hello,
My alert.log file indicated multiple trace files to review. How to read these trace files to understand the cause of errors. Do I open the trace files with vi and do a search for 'ORA-' error. Are there tools to read and understand trace files. Thank you.It depends what kind of trace file it is.
You can use vi or other text editing tool to open the trace file. The trace file usually provides more detailed information when you have ORA- errors in alert.log. It's also very helpful for Oracle support when troubleshooting. -
How to read SYstemstate level 266 dump trace file?
Hi I have simple question regarding documentation availability.
How to read SYstemstate level 266 dump trace file?
I tried googling it but didnt find any good article?Hi,
It is supposed to graph frequency content vs time, and the display I get comes all black. Look at the attachments for the load state, the first one is the legacy SW and the second one is the modified one.
I put probes on them, and the legacy one gets the 250,000 from the Value embedded. The modified one it is supposed to get it from the sample rate path, please let me know if this is enough info, thanks.
LabVIEW Intermediate I level!

RajOne needs to know the meaning of the kernel functions and their working within the oracle database. I guess, oracle support can do the analysis more easily as they have access to the software code as well necessary tools to interpret these internal routines.

I want to see what SQL statements are executed against HANA when I run BObj Analysis for Excel on top of HANA views I had created. Accordingly to the HANA Development Guide p.63 it should be possible. Actually, I don't see my SQL statements in the log.
Details are as follows:
1. I have enabled JDBC Trace in HANA Studio, in properties of the HANA db instance I'm working with. Well, the Guide advises to use a separate NGDBC.JAR for it, but I assumed that would be the same functionality. Q1: Is there any difference in terms of JDBC Trace contents, depending on the way it's been enabled with?
2. I have an analytic view MYCONTENT.ANV_001 that has, say, attributes SHIPTO and CALMONTH and a measure SALES. When I open the view in BObj Analysis for Excel, I expect it to run a SQL statement like SELECT SALES FROM MYCONTENT.ANV_001
3. Yet I don't see anything like that. The only SQL statement that may be related is "select * from DUMMY".
4. I tried to navigate through the view in Analysis for Excel, e.g. do some drilldowns and filters, but it continued running the same SQL statement against HANA.
Q2: Have I picked the executed SQL statement right? If yes, does it mean that BObj Analysis for Excel always generates most generic query against HANA? If no, how can I check what is the SQL statement being executed?
Update 5. I tried to enable JDBC Trace using the NGDBC.JAR library, but see no trace logs appearing at all. Q3: Could it be something wrong with the trace settings (well, there are just 4 of them, and it would be hard to make a mistake)? Q4: Does Analysis for Excel use JDBC Driver at all to access HANA?
Thanks!

Edited by: Roman Bukarev on Dec 13, 2011 4:54 AMI second that. Using JFrame instead of JApplet is easy once you've seen an example:
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/learn/example1.html
When learning Swing, I can think of only disadvantages to using JApplet over
JFrame. Why do textbooks use applets? Old habits die hard and they
are out-of-date in their view of Java.
Side comment: when learning a new topic, like JDBC, I would
strongly advice you to write the simplest possible code at first.
In other words, skip the Swing and write simple console apps:
1. select and dump the contents of a table.
2. gradually do more sophisticated selects...
3. insert a record into a table using some fixed values.
3. delete records from a table.
4. update records using some fixed values.
Once you are comfortable doing CRUD, and used PreparedStatement!,
then add a GUI. And if your code is well-written, the GUI and the back-end
are separate enough anyway, that you can write and test them apart. -
How to read Excel file in flex
Hi,
I am new to Adobe flex and i dont know how to read Excel in flex and i need coding for that. So anybody help me...
thanks in advance...Hi
You can read and parse XLS files (only works with xls-files) with urlloader and a ZIP-lib that can read zip-files.
public function loadXLS(url:String):void
var urlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
urlLoader.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.BINARY;
urlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoadComplete);
urlLoader.load(new URLRequest(url));
private function onLoadComplete(even:Event):void
urlLoader.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoadComplete);
model.sheetsDict = new Dictionary();
var zipFile:ZipFile = new ZipFile(urlLoader.data);
for(var i:int = 0; i < zipFile.entries.length; i++)
var entry:ZipEntry = zipFile.entries[i];
var data:ByteArray = zipFile.getInput(entry);
if(useFile(entry.name, "/sheet([^$]+)"))
model.sheetsDict[entry.name.split("xl/")[1]] = new XML(data.toString());
else if( useFile(entry.name, "/sharedStrings.xml") )
model.sharedStrings = new XML(data.toString());
else if( useFile(entry.name, "/workbook.xml$") )
model.workbook = new XML(data.toString());
else if( useFile(entry.name, "/workbook.xml.rels") )
model.rels = new XML(data.toString());
trace(model.sharedStrings)
to read the xml properly you have to use namespaces in the reader-class
namespace ns1 = "http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/spreadsheetml/2006/main";
use namespace ns1;
namespace ns2 = "http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/officeDocument/2006/relationships";
use namespace ns2;
namespace ns3 = "http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006";
use namespace ns3;
namespace ns4 = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:mac:vml";
use namespace ns4;
namespace ns5 = "http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/package/2006/relationships";
use namespace ns5;

How to use a jdbc driver in caf
Hi, all.
I tried to make a ws to access DB with CAF, but I had no idea how to use a jdbc driver(.jar).
Can anyone do me a favor? Thx
PS: my server is ce7.1
Edited by: Louis HUANG on Jul 27, 2009 1:09 PMhi
If you want to interact with db tables in caf,try like this.
it may work..
Using EJB call database tables using jdbc driver.
Expose EJB as webservice.
and using External service option of caf utilise this webservice in caf,do the necessary mappings..
you can search in sdn,how to call DB tables in EJB..

How to read response from WebService call
Hi,
I am consuming webservices in ABAP. I got proxy classes created. Port is also created.
I am calling classes generated by proxy in ABAP. Classes creates few structure by system. when i make a call to service, I am not getting importing values in veariables declared. Trace file (in SOAMANAGER ) shows call successful & XML file shows the correct response values, but are not appearing in program variables. I declared variables of same type generated by system.
My question is, am I missing any step.configuration? or how to read the variables?
Thanks in advance.
SunilYou coud create a procedure like this:
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE soap_env_pr (p_soap_env IN VARCHAR2)
IS
v_start NUMBER;
v_end NUMBER;
v_message VARCHAR2 (400);
v_length NUMBER;
BEGIN
v_start := INSTR (p_soap_env, '<ns0:Ok>');
v_length := LENGTH ('<ns0:Ok>');
v_end := INSTR (p_soap_env, '</ns0:Ok>');
v_message :=
SUBSTR (p_soap_env, v_start + v_length, v_end - v_start - v_length);
HTP.prn ('Ok: ' || v_message);
v_start := INSTR (p_soap_env, '<ns0:SessionNumber>');
v_length := LENGTH ('<ns0:SessionNumber>');
v_end := INSTR (p_soap_env, '</ns0:SessionNumber>');
v_message :=
SUBSTR (p_soap_env, v_start + v_length, v_end - v_start - v_length);
HTP.prn ('SessionNumber: ' || v_message);
v_start := INSTR (p_soap_env, '<ns0:ErrorMessage>');
v_length := LENGTH ('v_length');
v_end := INSTR (p_soap_env, '</ns0:ErrorMessage/>');
v_message :=
SUBSTR (p_soap_env, v_start + v_length, v_end - v_start - v_length);
HTP.prn ('ErrorMessage: ' || v_message);
END;and call it like this:
BEGIN
soap_env_pr
('<env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"><env:Header/>
<env:Body>
* <invokeScenarioResponse xmlns:ns0="xmlns.oracle.com/odi/OdiInvoke/" xmlns="xmlns.oracle.com/odi/OdiInvoke/">*
* <ns0:Ok>true</ns0:Ok>*
* <ns0:SessionNumber>2223201</ns0:SessionNumber>*
