How to read an Oracle index by in Java

Hi All,
Could anyone help me, how can I use JDBC to read the contents of an Oracle index-by table. I am preparing this Oracle array in a procedure, which I need to send as an out parameter.
A code segment will be highly appreciated.
Thanx in advance.
Regards,
Dushyant

I GOT IT!... I did not notice the "]" at the end. Crazy!!!!

  • How to display a oracle table from a java program?

    How to display a oracle table from a java program.
    Hello friends, I have written a Java program, using oracle 10g as backend.
    I want to display a oracle table as output. Im not getting how to display oracle table as a output table.. Pls help me
    Thank you

    jayanthds, you're not going to get a satisfactory
    answer to this here. it's too big a task to justbe
    quickly outlined in a forum - the reply "all youneed
    to do is to query you table and return it asJTable"
    is worthless, for example, since the solution to
    any problem can be distilled to such a
    soundbite, if need be. doesn't make the solutionany
    simpler
    essentially you're asking "how do I write adatabase
    application?". all you'll get is snippets of code
    that, when fitted together, will eventually helpyou
    do this, but you'll spend days and days comingback
    saying "right, I've done that, now what?" until
    either you or the forum gets frustrated with the
    whole affair and the process stops
    there are entire books written about this subject,
    and countless tutorials and guides on theinternet.
    you're better off going down that routehehehe.well, it's true! I used to have a manager that would outline the solution to a problem in a few lines of pseudocode, and then firmly believe that the actual solution would be just as brief and simple. shame his pseudocode included such lofty abstractions as "reformat all data"

  • How to read a text/html file in java regardless of its encoding?

    Hi All,
    How to read a text/html file in java regardless of its encoding?
    1. Is there any way to identify that a file (read using FileInputStream/or any other means with java.io package) has been saved with which type of encoding i.e. whether the file is using ANSI encoding or Unicode encoding or other?
    2. Is there any standard way to read an encoded file (i.e. files having UTF-16 format for Asian locales character support) and un-encoded file (i.e. files having ordinary ANSI format) correctly without knowing the user input?
    The problem is that while creating an instance of 'InputStreamReader' (ISR) we can pass the encoding type used (otherwise it takes the system's default encoding type), and the ISR expects the file to be in the same encoding format otherwise it reads it as some junk. But we don't know which file the user is going to pass whether it is Unicode (for Asian locales file should be in Unicode) with or ANSI coded (for non-Asian / English locales user generally uses ANSI encoding).
    Regards,
    Sam

    1. There is no reliable way of guessing the encoding of a file without that information. Thats why XML for example has very strict rules wrt. it's encoding (short form: use UTF-8 or UTF-16, if you use anything else, you'll have to specify it)
    2. you might be able to make an educated guess if the possible range of encodings is limited, but it will probably never be 100% certain
    3. The HTML file might have a header entry "<meta http-equiv..." that tells you about it's encoding. You could try to read the start of the file and see if you find that, then if you found it re-read the entire file.

  • How to read a Oracle Forms PARAMLIST without knowing parameter names

    Hi All,
    Is there a way to read a Oracle Forms Paramlist on Oracle Forms (I mean read all parameters on it) without knowing any names of the parameters?
    I´d like to create a command line at run time and put on this command line all the parameters and its values, but I will never know the quantity of parameters and its names and values.
    Example of the command line I want to create:
    rwrun.sh batch=yes destype=file desname=/tmp/cmx_objetos.pdf desformat=pdf userid=***/***@*** module=/d01/oracle/VIS/apps/apps_st/appl/ecomex/fmx/cmx_objetos.rep parameter1=value1, parameter2=value2 ... paramaterN=valueN
    Thanks.

    As Francois said it is not clear if you are talking about Forms or Reports here. If Reports: check Get parameter name and type at runtime thread.
    But if you have no idea of the number or names of the parameters? How do you know which values to assign at all?

  • How to Read and Generate XML file from java code.

    hi guys,
    how to read the xml file (Condition :we know only DTD or Shema only).
    How to Generate the new xml file ?(using Shema )
    And one more how directly Generate the xml from DB?
    Pleas with code or any URL

    Using XMLbeans you can generate Java objects from an XSD schema (perhaps DTDs aswell)
    Then you can create an instance of the Document object and ask it to write itself.
    This will create an XML document complient to the schema.
    XMLBeans generates a "type" safe DOM where you can only ever have a structure compilent to you schema.

  • How do you query Oracle RDF database using Java program?

    Does anyone know how to get data out of the oracle RDF database using Java?
    I'm running the following java code and it returns basically null values. My guess is that the get_triple() function returns a dataset other than resultset. I've tried searching the Oracle web site. Am I supposed to be using CLOB object? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
    sql = "SELECT a.triple.GET_TRIPLE() AS triple FROM family_rdf_data a";
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery( sql ) ;
    while ( rs.next() )
    System.out.println( rs.getString(1) ) ;
    rs.close() ;

    get_triple() returns an object, and the code would be different from the code of retrieving a string. Some sample code for retrieving objects is at http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/files/advanced/advanced.html
    get_subject(), get_property() return strings so the code below should work. get_object() returns a CLOB so different handling would be required and there is some sample code at the link above.

    Hi All,

    Here I want to read that certificate from windows sertificate registry store which is installed from IE.
    Is there any way to read IE installed certificates using java. If so please provide me that code.
    Its very URGENT for me.....please help

    while exporting the certificate the am able to export only public keys, private key option is disabled. but those private keys are very important for my communication. I should pass those private keys to vendor for authentication purpose.
    That's way am paling to read certificate from windows registry. but am new to these concepts.
    can anybody have code to read certificates from windows registry using java 1.4?

  • How to get comparable Oracle JDBC performance using Java 1.4 vs 1.1.7?

    Our application makes extensive use of JDBC to access an Oracle database. We wrote it a number of years ago using java 1.1.7 and we have been unable to move to new versions of java because of the performance degradation.
    I traced the problem to JDBC calls. I can reproduce the problem using a simple program that simply connects to the database, executes a simple query and then reads the data. The same program running under java 1.4 is about 60% slower than under java 1.1.7. The query is about 80% slower and getting the data is about 150% slower!
    The program is attached below. Note, I run the steps twice as the first time the times are much larger which I attribute to java doing some initializations. So the second set of values I think are more representative of the actual performance in our application where there are numerous accesses to the database. Specifically, I focus on step 4 which is the execute query command and step 5 which is the data retrieval step. The table being read has 4 columns with 170 tuples in it.
    Here are the timings I get when I run this on a Sparc Ultra 5 running
    SunOs 5.8 using an Oracle database running 8.1.7:
                     java 1.1.7  java 1.4
            overall:    2.1s         3.5s
            step 1:     30           200
            step 2:    886          2009
            step 3:      2             2
            step 4:      9            17
            step 5:    122           187
            step 6:      1             1
            step 1:      0             0
            step 2:    203           161
            step 3:      0             1
            step 4:      8            15   <-   87% slower
            step 5:     48           117   <-  143% slower
            step 6:      1             2I find the same poor performance from java versions 1.2 and 1.3.
    I tried using DataDirect's type 4 JDBC driver which gives a little better performance but overall it is still much slower than using java 1.1.7.
    Why do the newer versions of java have such poor performance when using JDBC?
    What can be done so that we can have performance similar to java 1.1.7
    using java 1.4?

    If I run my sample program with the -server option, it
    takes a lot longer (6.8s vs 3.5s).Which has to be expected, as the -server option optimizes for long running programs - so it shoudl go with my second suggestion, more below...
    I am not certain what you mean by "just let the jvm
    running". Our users issue a command (in Unix) which
    invokes one of our java programs to access or update
    data in a database. I think what you are suggesting
    would require that I rewrite our application to have a
    java program always running on the users workstation
    and to also rewrite our
    commands (over a hundred) to some how pass data and
    receive data with this new server java program. That
    does not seem a very reasonable just to move to a new
    version of java. Or are you suggesting something
    else?No I was just suggestion what you descript. But if this is not an option, then maybe you should merge your java-programs to C or another native language. Or you could try the IBM-JDK with the -faststart (or similar) option. If thew Unix you mention is AIX, then there would be the option of a resetable-vm. But I cannot say if this VM would solve your problem. Java is definitly not good for applications which only issue some unqiue commands because the hotspot-compiler can not be efficiently used there. You can only try to get 1.1.7 performance by experimenting with vm-parameters (execute java -X).

  • How to read the current value of hyperlink java bean in multiple record,

    I have used a java bean for a multi-record block item. On When-new form-instance I m using fbean package as follows

    I m using
    vcEventData := Fbean.Invoke_Char('CONTROL.HYPERLINK',2,'getURL');

    I want to read the child nodes of "weblogic" not by their name but by their index.     Element elementNode = (Element)doc.getElementsByTagName("weblogic").item(0);
    NodeList nodeList = elementNode.getChildNodes();
    int length = nodeList.getLength();
    System.out.println("length = "+ length); // the length its giving is 5 but i shuld get only 2
    for(int i=0; i < length; i++) {
    Element elmChild = (Element) nodeList.item(i);
    System.out.println(elmChild.getAttribute("value"));

  • IPC: How to read the Condition Rate(KBETR) in Java checkRequirement method.

    Hi Experts,
    As part of an IPC development, we need to read the Condition Type Rate (KBETR) in a Requirement Formula. The condition rate is the rate for the current record of the pricing procedure, e.g. Condition Type ZAB1.
    I can successfully read the condition rate in a Value formula using this piece of code:
    public BigDecimal overwriteConditionValue(IPricingItemUserExit pricingItem,IPricingConditionUserExit pricingCondition) {
                      BigDecimal ZConditionRate = pricingCondition.getConditionRate().getValue();
    In a Value Formula "IPricingConditionUserExit pricingCondition" is a input parameter of the overwriteConditionValue() method. However in a Requirement formula the standard method checkRequirement(IConditionFindingManagerUserExit item, IStep step, IAccess access) does not have any parameter which can give me the rate.
    I wrote the following logic in the requirement class, but line 2 is not executed.
    1. public boolean checkRequirement(IConditionFindingManagerUserExit item, IStep step, IAccess access) {
         2.  IPricingConditionUserExit pricingHeader = (IPricingConditionUserExit) item;
         3.  BigDecimal ZConditionRate = pricingHeader.getConditionRate().getValue();
    Please suggest how we can retrieve the condition rate in a requirement formula class using teh standard methods & classes.

    Hi,
    I have to set the condition rate as percentage in one of my codition value formula routine which i am developing based on java.
    I have overwritten  the method overwriteConditionValue() in my pricing routine which is 927. My logic is below.
    When I open my quotation using crmd_order, condition rate is not being displayed with % for unit condition rate coulmn in my pricing conditions.
    If I try to change my quotation for ex: Agrred price: xworke, then 927 formula is called and condition rate is displayed as %.
    So condition rate value is displayed perfectly , but when my quotation is in display mode condition rate value is coming as USA, but it should be % irrespective of my quotation is in display mode or change mode. I have attached the two screen shots for quotation display mode and change mode.
    Can some body throw insight what is wrong in my pricing routine logic in setting % condition rate rather than USD for the Condition rate value.
    public BigDecimal overwriteConditionValue(IPricingItemUserExit pricingItem,
      IPricingConditionUserExit pricingCondition) {

        pricingCondition.setConditionValue(condValue);
        // Calculate percentage with 3-decimal-precision (as does ABAP-Version by multiplying with 100.000 instead of 100)
        pricingCondition.setConditionRate(condValue.multiply(PricingTransactiondataConstants.HUNDRED).divide(xworkg,
          3, BigDecimal.ROUND_HALF_UP), "%");
        pricingCondition.setPricingUnit(new BigDecimal(0), null);
        else {
        pricingCondition.setConditionRate(PricingTransactiondataConstants.ZERO, "%");

  • How to read messages from mqseries continuously by java?

    Hi,
    I'm sending messages to the queue of MQSeries.
    Here my requirement is i have to write a java/jms program that should run at the back side and check the queue  for every 5 minutes for messages.If any message exists in the queue the java/jms program should read the message and display it on the console.
    If anybody has idea please reply it.
    thanks in advance

    Hi!
    You have many ways. You could define a cron on a UNIX box to make sure a simple command line app connects to the queue every 5 min and uses JMS API to read the queue and do whatever you need with the messages.
    http://java.sun.com/products/jms/javadoc-102a/index.html
    On the other hand, unless its critical to recover messages just every 5 min., you could create an MDB. Actually this is the best solution: a Message Driven Enterprise Java Bean is just a listener over the queue reacting instantly to every message received. The way to create and configure them depends strongly on your appserver and development process: an IDE as WSAD or something like that creates them very easily. The actual problem with these ones is to properly configure them on your appserver. However, all appservers will allow you to define a 'Foreign JMS Provider' or something like that pointing to the actual MQ implementation you have and define an activation specification on which to sit your MDB.

    Jorge
