I’m using Oracle Reprots 10g
I have a database filed of type BLOB ( that can be BMP, GIF, JPG, PDF ..etc .. it can be any format/extension)

Note: These steps, and the steps to link an image object to a file (for paper-based reports only), allow you to include images in a wide variety of formats supported by Oracle Reports, including JPEG (all types, such as Progressive JPEG and Exif JPEG), PNG, BMP, TIFF, GIF, and CGM.
For paper-based reports, you can also use InsertImage to import an image from a file into the report layout for images in the following formats: TIFF, JFIF, BMP, TGA, PCX, PICT, GIF, CALS, RAS, OIF, PCD.
To select an image from the database:
Create a query that selects a column containing images or the filenames of image objects.
In the Data Model view, double-click the image column to display the Property Inspector.
If the column contains the filenames of image objects, rather than the images themselves:
Under the Column node, set the Read from File property to Yes.
In both cases (a column containing images or a column containing the filenames of image objects): under the Column node, set the File Format property to Image.

Using flex, we would like to make some utility that will do a
lot of reading and writing from local files.
The writing is what I am more worried about. How is this

How to cffileupload and store file paths in a database?

I'm using CF 9 and have multi-file uploading working. What I need help with is a help desk type page that will display the filenames with links to the files that are uploaded with the form that a user submits. When I view an admin page, I need to see the email form results with a list of the files uploaded and links to where they are.
Any ideas on how I can get an admin page to display only the files associated with each form submission? I'm assuming that I need to find a method of stroring each uploaded file path to a database but I don't know how to do that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You could proceed as follows:
1) Create a database table named uploadedFile. The columns could be, for example,
upload_id: INT, autoincrement, primary key
datetimecreated: DATETIME
serverfile: VARCHAR(50)
serverdirectory: VARCHAR(30)
2) Do your multi-upload, for example,
myMultiUploader.cfm

Help with how to read and write files to the applets server

I am writing a form that requires some data to be written serverside(not on the host machine) and I also need to be able to read from those same files.
Can anyone provide any help?
I looked into signing but it seems, to me, that signing is for when you are going to be modifying files on the host...

for this i had used while loop;
But i'm having 6 images in the database...
when the 4th image is in reading, automatically a new page will
be created and the 4th image will be pasted in the newly created page.. i tried and develped for creating a new page...
But how shall i paste the 4th image in the newly created page...
is there methods or classes?

How to burn read and write files on DVD

I would like to know how to burn DVDs (image files) with the Read and Write setting. I have changed the settings in Get Info for the image files to Read and Write for Owner, Group and Others and yet when I burn the DVD and try and copy the files back onto the hard drive (to test if it works or not) it won't allow me. When I check the Get Info it says Read and Write for owner (greyed out) and Read Only for Group and Others (greyed out too).
I have also tried to change the status of the blank DVD before adding files and after adding the files (but b4 the burn) to Read and Write, this works but then during the burn process the DVD or burner changes my settings to Read Only.
I am burning with Finder and have tried with Toast 10 Titanium. What am I doing wrong, or not doing at all?! I'm going loopy with frustration!

Kiraly, I agree that the actual problem here might be something else, but as a side issue there seems to be a difference in the way permissions are handled when a file copy is made using Finder compared to when the copy is made using the cp copy in Terminal. At least in my Tiger system, Finder preserved the permission structure, though not the ownership, when it copied a file, whereas cp used the OS defaults.
I tried the following experiment:
From my test user account "t", I created a textfile named ReadWrite.txt, and gave it Read+Write permissions for Owner, Group, and Others. I then burned it using Finder to a DVD which I named PermissionTest, and then unchecked the "Ignore Ownership" box on PermissionTest.
The original ownership and permissions were preserved on the DVD, though of course you couldn't actually write to anything there:
xxG5-Computer:~ t$ ls -l /Volumes/PermissionTest/ReadWrite.txt
-rw-rw-rw- 1 t t 15 Sep 13 18:25 /Volumes/PermissionTest/ReadWrite.txt
I then copied the file from the DVD to the Desktop using Finder, and the permissions were preserved!
Finder copy:
xxG5-Computer:~ t$ ls -l /Users/t/Desktop/ReadWrite.txt
-rw-rw-rw- 1 t t 15 Sep 13 18:25 /Users/t/Desktop/ReadWrite.txt
I then trashed the Finder copy of ReadWrite,txt on the desktop, and made a second copy from the DVD, but this time I used the cp command from Terminal instead of using Finder. This time the permissions were not preserved, but reverted to the OS default:
cp copy:
xxG5-Computer:~ t$ cp /Volumes/PermissionTest/ReadWrite.txt Desktop
xxG5-Computer:~ t$ ls -l /Users/t/Desktop/ReadWrite.txt
-rw-r--r-- 1 t t 15 Sep 13 19:43 /Users/t/Desktop/ReadWrite.txt
I then switched to a different user account "t1", and repeated the above with the same DVD, first copying the ReadWrite.txt file to the desktop using Finder, and then using cp. The ownership of the copied file changed from t to t1 in both cases, but the permission structure again was preserved in the Finder copy but not in the cp copy:

I got similar results when I tried copying a file with Read+Write permissions for all from a USB flash drive to the Desktop, again with the "Ignore Ownership" box unchecked.

Reading a image file and printing it by a Servlet

In a IMAGE TAG of HTML file i am calling servlets what will write a image to the browser.
<IMG SRC="http://localhost/WriteImage" width="50" height="100">
The Servlet WriteImage has to read a image from a location(it could be gif,jpeg,png or another format of images ) and it has to write to the above image tag.
Anyone can u help me out how i can do this...
I tried out with javax.imageio package but couldn't get it.

Your WriteImage servlet needs to read the image file in from wherever it is (hard drive, database, whatever), then write it back out to the browser. To do that, first use the HTTPServletResponse object to send the appropriate headers, then call the getOutputStream() method to get an output stream to write the data to. This data will be sent to the browser which, if you've set the headers correctly, will display it as an image.
It's been a long time since I did this (we abandoned storing images in databases quite a long time ago), so I can't be more specific than that, but hopefully that'll be enough to get you going. If you run into any problems, reply and I'll see if I can help further.

may help you to access the pictures without any db-access.

Accessing the file system directly from a web app is a bad idea for several reasons. See http://weblogs.java.net/blog/simongbrown/archive/2003/10/file_access_in.html for a great discussion of the topic.
On Weblogic there seems to be two ways to access files. First, use a File T3 connector from the console. Second, use java.net.URL with the file: protocol. The T3File object has been deprecated and suggests:
Deprecated in WebLogic Server 6.1. Use java.net.URL.openConnection() instead.

Using XMLbeans you can generate Java objects from an XSD schema (perhaps DTDs aswell)
Then you can create an instance of the Document object and ask it to write itself.
This will create an XML document complient to the schema.
XMLBeans generates a "type" safe DOM where you can only ever have a structure compilent to you schema.
