How to reference a file in file system?

Actually, in my application I am retrieving files with a "File Browse..." item and save then in DB.
Or, users would like to open these files from APEX application, add their modifications and save in the same location.
Once in the file's application (Word, Acrobat or other) I see no possibility for user to save the modified document back in the DB.
So, the best way, IMHO, would be to stock file path and allow users to open file.
My problem is - how to get the file's full path from "File Browse..." item? Then I could show the link as "file://.."
Or there is another way?
Igor

Well, if it was that easy... Paranoidal Firefox 3.x does not let you put your hands on the full path to the file in type=file input. You can get the whole file contents, you see the full path, but you cannot handle it programmatically.
So, what I have found with Google is this
It works nicely. Just drop the applet's *.class file in #IMAGE_PREFIX# arborescence and don't forget to reference it with 'codebase="#IMAGE_PREFIX#/.../...../" when loading the applet on your page.

    fstyp [-a | -v] special [:logical-drive]

  • Strategy to reference a file system in the application?

    Hello,
    I am working on a web application which has a file system[d:/appname/images] on the application server where images upload by the application are saved.
    The file system is referenced in the application code at two different places. One on file upload and another when displaying the image to the client browser.
    What is the best strategy to reference the file system in the application context?
    Note: Using Struts on the web framework, Spring for the data access framework.
    Thanks,
    Mohideen.

    Personally I don't like to reference the file system directly from a web application. What I would do is put the directory in classpath and then use the Class.getResourceAsStream() method to read the files in the web app. This keeps you from accessing the filesysetm directly from the web app.

  • How to work with file system in linux within a JSF app?

    I use this line in my backing bean to log some events:
    FileHandler fhxml = new FileHandler("../webapps/MyWebApp/Log/MyWebAppLog.xml", append);
    fhxml.setFormatter(new XMLFormatter());That works fine in windows but when I deploy it in my Tomcat 6 in linux It doesn't work. How can I work with file system in linux?

    You should never use relative paths to access the filesystem. The path would be relative to the current working directory which is not per se the same in all environments. To convert a relative web path to an absolute file system path, you need ServletContext#getRealPath(). Use this absolute file system path in the java.io stuff. In a JSF application on top of Servlet API you can get the underlying ServletContext by ExternalContext#getContext().
    Alternatively, if the file is located in one of the default paths of the classpath or if its path is added to the classpath, you can also just use ExternalContext#getResource() or even #getResourceAsStream() using just the file name.

  • How to design a file system based on java card

    I have reviewed all kinds of articles about it.And right now I can not find any source code to do that function.But how to design a full gsm file system using java card.
    of course you need fast access,dynamic allocate memory,file properties management.Let's talk about it.

    just do it.
    there is no such feature in the javacard api. This must be coded by hand, you have to manage memory, etc.
    I know, that's not cool.

  • /em/console/notif/addMetrics, How I specify multiple file systems?

    People,
    In EM 10gR2,
    How do configure
    Filesystem Space Available (%)
    metric which I find here:
    /em/console/notif/addMetrics
    It seems obvious if I have just 1 file system to monitor.
    I just type in /u01 for example.
    How do I specify multiple file systems?
    Do I separate each file system name by a comma:
    /u01, /u02, /u03
    ...Peter
    http://GoodJobFastCar.com

    You can use like /u0*

  • How do I switch file systems?

    I have /home on a separate partition with jfs as it's file system. It is driving me bonkers by freezing and having to be restarted and checked every hour or so. It just started doing it this much just over the last week since my gal got a new Dell XPS with Vista. It seems to happen much more frequently when I have had the computer on for long periods when she is also on the wireless network. It's a Linksys Wireless N WRT300N, she has an Intel Wireless N card that I believe is the latest model, the 5100, and I have the 4965.
    All of my temps are reading normal, including the hard drive. I have never had a fail from the reiserfs / partition, or any ext3's that I had had in the past. I just want to swap it back to the ext3, because I have not seen any performance gains, and it has this lovely freezing issue.
    I have it mounted noatime and nodiratime (I think thats the spellings for those two) and I have made sure to keep the commit times fairly low so it doesn't use up the hard drive's Load Cycle Count, because mine is one that has that issue in Linux. (Has it in Win Serv 2k8 as well, but that is another story.)
    I know that I can simply reformat the partition my home partition is on, but I am not sure how to go about re-establishing the /home and the users that are stored on the partition. I've taken out the / partition and re-installed leaving the /home, but I have never just done the /home.
    Is there an easier way to alter the file system? or am I just going to have to deal with a reformat?

    This guide describes the procedure I use when I want to switch a partition to a different filesystem: http://inferno.slug.org/cgi-bin/wiki?Dr … nd_Cloning
    It needs to be adjusted intelligently for Arch (i.e. sda rather than hda and so on) but the general principle remains the same.

  • How to reference PDF files in Pages09?

    I recently changed full-time to Pages, and still have a few things that I can't comprehend.
    Often times, I need to reference PDF files within a Pages document.  Kind of tedious to type the file names.  Is there a way to add those files (as a reference in a section Material, for instance; a bit like in iCal in the Get Info window when you do Add Files) by accessing my Finder and selecting them?  That would be a great time-saver.
    Thks!

    Please make your question more clear . Also mention the reports version.
    1) If you are runnning reports in Unix, you can give
    .... destype=file desformat=pdf desname=<filename>
    in command line
    Please refer docs below.
    2) If by your question you mean
    "My reports server is running in Windows but I want to ftp my files to Unix after creating it"
    then the answer is that you can use pluggable destination "ftp"
    .... destype=ftp desformat=pdf desname=<ftp url>
    Pluggable destinations download

    If you are using EP 6, for creating the file system repository go to the following path.
    System Administration->System Configuration->Knowledge Management->Configuration->Content Management -> Repository Manager -> File System Repository.

  • How to reference JAR files in stored java class ?

    I don't know if it's exactly the right place to post this, I hope it could be :-)
    Here is the problem :
    I developped a Java class with some public static functions.
    To store this class in Oracle, I use the SQL below :
    CREATE OR REPLACE AND COMPILE JAVA SOURCE NAMED "SYSTEM"."MYCLASS" AS
    // ... (Java source code) ...
    This works pretty well with simple functions, but we need to import specific class. Here is for MQSeries : import com.ibm.mq.*;
    When using the SQL to put the Java class, we get an error message saying that the class wasn't correctly compiled. It seems it's about the import.
    The question is : how to proceed to reference the JAR files needed so that my class can correctly import the needed packages ?
    Thanks in advance,

    Here is a simple example of code :
    CREATE OR REPLACE AND COMPILE JAVA SOURCE NAMED "SYSTEM"."TEST" AS
    import com.ibm.mq.*;
    public class Test {
    public Test() {
    try{
    MQQueueManager manager = new MQQueueManager("");
    catch(Exception e){
    In this way, I get message "Warning : Java create with compilation errors".
    When I comment the line of the MQQueueManager object creation, it is well created.
    Any ideas ?

    (first sorry for my english )
    hi, i am using larch is great but in the past i used linux-live with slackware and in linux-live you can edit "linux-live files" doing:
    mo2dir system.mo /livecd-tmp/system/
    then you touch everything you want and then rebuild
    dir2mo /livecd-tmp/system/ system.mo
    i like so much this function because you can personalize everything, with larch system you can do something like that?

    larch uses squashfs. Take a look at mksquashfs.

  • How to reference a file with the XML Forms Builder?

    Hello,
    I've created a form at the XML Form builder (I am using NW 04). This enables the users to create new topic.
    I've created at at the "Edit" form an option to upload a file along with the new topic. The file is being saved in a subfolder of the topics main folder.
    My question is how to create a link to the specific file that has been uploaded with it's specific topic at the "Show" Form? Note that the subfolder contains files of many topics, I want to link to this specific file uploaded with it's relevant topic when created. How do I do that?

    Hi Roy,
    > I've created at the "Edit" form an option
    > to upload a file along with the new topic.
    What I expect that you have done is to add a browse functionality which browses within KM with the possibility to upload an image into KM?! As done within SAP Demo News?!
    If that's the way, just compare the SAP Demo News: Create /DataSchema/News/image and map it to the browser, whereas in the show form part you'll map it to an image.
    If I didn't understand you right and the issue is still open, please report...
    Hope it helps
    Detlev
