How to reference sapjco from EAR deployment descriptors

Hello techies,
I´ve set up an EJB to use the JCo RFC Provider Service of the J2EE engine. Connection from R3 to EJB works but as soon as the EJB gets invoked, I get the error 'incompatible bean type - no processFunction found' from the RFCDefaultRequestHandler.invokeBean(..., JCO.Function) method.
The reason is clear to me - the JCO.Function class is loaded by different class loaders and thus the method parameters don´t match.
I´ve read in earlier postings that it is neccessary to reference the JCO in the module project and the ear deployment descriptor. That´s where my question begins.
How do I reference the JCO in the module project (what´s that?)? I think it has to do with the EJB jar, doesn´t it?
In the DeployTool I found a way how to set a reference to a library in the menu deploy-->libraries. But I am not sure what to specify here. I entered 'sapjco', since I saw an entry in the managers/library.txt file. Is that correct?
Any hints are welcome!

Jan,
you can set the reference to the EAR project using the reference.txt file that exists in the /managers folder.
In the library.txt file set a path which is reference to sapjco.jar files..like
library JCO sapjco.jar
in the refernce.txt add the JCO referece to the EAR project...like
reference Project library:JCO
where Project here is the name of your EAR file..

Sorry, it's still not clear. You have a deployment profile. Now:
Are you right-clicking that profile and saying "deploy to <app server>?" If so, you define the instance when you created the app server connection.
Otherwise, if you're using some other way of deploying (e.g., AS control), you explicitly navigate to the instance and deploy the app from there.

sit alone. They dont say how to hook them into weblogic. They say to use JAAS
but they have just JAAS examples! No hooking of it into an EJB, servlet, etc!
They also dont show how to hook that code into WLS to use it as your security
module!
Help, I'm at a loss.
They recommend using JAAS but their documentation and examples of doing so suck
or are non existant. We have a complex real world product and need examples of
the same. Stupid, stand alone examples that teach nothing do no help.

Also, I use struts....
In struts you have to extend the Action class which then calls the perform()
method on your servlet.
So to call an EJB I have to have my servlet implement PrivilegedAction?
If so, then this wants a run() method. Struts calls perform so that means
I'm going to have to make another class to call from my servlet with a run
method()? Or I'm going to have my servlet implement PrivledgedAction and
call Security.runAs()?
What if I just want to call the EJB from my servlet and put my security
credentials in the JNDI lookup? I want the container to use the roles of the
user in the JNDI lookup to authorize methods based on the deployment
descriptors.

WLS is setup for, which could be a file Realm, or a RDBMS realm (in whichcase users

Roles cannot be defined at the database level. This needs to be atapplication level
which you can define in web.xml or
console(in 7.0)

How To Define Security in the deployment descriptor for an ejb

Pls help!
I am trying to call a remote ejb running on JBOSS in a remote server. Typically inside my code I would include a System.setSecurityManager() = new RMISecurityManager () etc. and specify a security policy file to use when running my client.
But since I am running inside the application server where many other applications are running, I cannot use system.abc() it breaks everyone's application.
Can someone please refer me to how to specify security manager policy inside the ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor or how I can resolve the above issue. O am using OC4J to run my ejbs.

How to reference images from CSS for a portal component

how can I reference an image stored in the standard "/images" folder in a .PAR file from a CSS file?
I tried
.myHTMLelement {

but it does not work (the image can't be found).
I don't want to use the API
request.getWebResourcePath() + "/images/saplogo.gif
in my JSP because this needs to get into a CSS file.

When project is deployed, the JSP's are usually located in private section:
<i>\usr\sap\EED\JC00\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\portal\portalapps\projectname\pagelet\someJSP.jsp</i>
but the CSS is in public section:
<i>Z:\usr\sap\EED\JC00\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\portalapps\projectname\css\someCSS.css</i>
Now if you want to include the CSS in JSP I think you HAVE TO use the <i>getWebResourcePath</i> method:
<link rel="stylesheet" href='<%=componentRequest.getWebResourcePath()+"/css/someCSS.css"%>' type="text/css" />
or directly define the style:
<style type="text/css">

</style>
Just check your deployment and fit it to your needs...

We are in the process of deploying our standard J2EE EAR file to
WebLogic 9.2 MP2. The EAR file does not contain weblogic custom
deployment descriptors (e.g.: weblogic.xml) but only standard DDs (e.g.:
web.xml)
I have some doubts about resources mapping and I'd like to get some help
from experienced WL users.
Basically our EAR file is composed of an EJB module and a WEB module.
Each module declares some references such as:

<res-ref-name>jdbc/Datasource</res-ref-name>
<res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>

A deployment plan is external to the ear/jar file.
It is probably easiest to deploy the application with the console, and then
use the console to change the values you want. It will automatically
generate a deployment plan for you.

Custom Deployment Descriptors?

Hey all! I'm coming from Eclipse and am loving all the features JDeveloper brings!
This is a really stupid question, but where does JDeveloper store it's deployment descriptors, and how can you create a custom deployment descriptor such as "persistence.xml" which JBoss uses for customizing it's EJB3 entity handling?
One thing I've noticed, is that JDeveloper does NOT give me the ability to create folders, to create my J2EE structure.
Normally, in Eclipse, I build my project with a folder called 'dd' to house all my deployment descriptors such as:
dd/web/web.xml
dd/web/faces-config.xml
dd/web/jboss-web.xml
dd/ear/application.xml
dd/ear/jboss.xml
dd/par/persistence.xml
etc.........
Then, I just configure ant to include the deployment descriptor, depending on what portion of the project I'm building. Then, I create a 'build' folder, to house my compiled jars, war, and ear files.
How do you all create your project structure when you can't create folders?
I've moved to JDeveloper because it is the only IDE that allows me to build drag-and-drop Faces projects while still allowing me to compile against EJB3.0 libraries.
I'd really like to be able to make this work. Obviously there is a better way, so I'm asking for everyone's expertise on how YOU create your J2EE structures with JDeveloper.

I'm building my ant build.xml files now. But I've run into a hitch, and am curious on how the other JDevelopers get around it.
JDeveloper splits my application up into Projects. So, I now have two projects: My Model project and my ViewController project for my entity/session beans and my web files respectively.
I can create a build.xml file for my entity (jar files) and a build.xml file for my web (war files), but normally, most people put a build.xml file in the root of the project to merge the web and J2EE files into an EAR.
JDeveloper won't allow me to put a build.xml file in the root of my Application to jar up all my project files into an EAR.
I found a really good article on Oracle's website, but it mainly dealt with Maven, and not Ant.
Could someone give me their experience on how you create your Ant structure? Granted, I could just add everything into a single build.xml file in my model project, but then, that could get confusing to other developers using my code, as well as, in a team environment, where each developer has their own build.xml file for the project they are responsible for.

Oracle-specific deployment descriptor

Hi all
does anybody know how i can edit the oracle deployment descriptor while using JDeveloper 3.2 to deploy. I need to add an ejb-reference, wich has to be mapped in the oracle specific descriptor. I tried to do it manually but everytime when i depoly, jdeveloper overwrites my changes during the deployment.

I4m just trying to do the same thing: including ejb references in the oracle descriptor, but it erases any line I include as soon as I start deploying.
Have you solved the problem?.If so, could you give me a clue?.
By the way, I imagine that the references have to be included in the EJB which is calling, and not in the one that is to be called.But I don4t really understand how is the name of the ejb to be called introduced in that enviroment directory.

Deployment Descriptors-Configuration management

How do we version control the deployment descriptors in a team development?

Fine. But the difference here is the same file say, ejb-jar.xml is likely to be modified by more than one developer at a time? Also during project start-up all developers are required to create their own enterprise beans. Agreed that we can do all these the way we normally control our sources. But here you see we need to put in some extra effort of co-ordination and integration. I am interested in alternatives to this approach.

In weblogic 7.0, deployment descriptor such as web.xml can be edited from the admin
console, but on weblogic 8.1 I can't find a way to do so.
Is this function taken out? Why is it taken out? Do I have an alternative to edit
it without unpacking and packing the EAR or WAR?

NWDI - How to control EAR deployment order

We are developing a custom application in NWDI. We have created a software component for the this and have created all required DCs under this software component.
All the J2EE DCs are deployed through separate EAR DCs and there are references from one to another ear DC where ever required.
Deployment of a EAR DC fails if the dependent EARs are missing at that time as it looks for some classes at the time of deployment. We could resolve this in development env as we have the control over individual EAR deployment.
But for deployment in QA through NWDI, where the whole software component is deployed as one SCA file, deployment is failing due to wrong order of deployment for the EARs. We are not able to figure out how to control the order of EAR deployments contained in a single SCA.
Please let me know for any further info.

It defines runtime-reference. And should automatically add references to application-j2ee-engine.xml
But as far as I remember it is done only in NW7.1

My requirement is to create an iView for my Web dynpro appn in EP. That is possible only by creating a PAR file. so How to create an PAR file from EAR in NWDS(NetWeaver Developer Studio).
How to access the EAR file in NWDS or J2EE ?

Hi,
To create a iview,
log on to portal, New iView and select SAP webdynpro iview.
It will ask for namespace which is usually , local/Project Name
and application name is the name of the application.
We dont have to create par file for this requirement

In weblogic 7,its a straight forward method in which we have the option to edit the deployment descriptor in weblogic console.
But I'm not sure how the same can be done in weblogic 9.0.

If you want to edit the actual deployment descriptor (ie as a developer) than using any text editor or using an IDE like WebLogic Workshop/Eclipse etc would be the way to go.
If you're trying to change values in an already deployed application, then configuration and tunables can be changed in the admin console. These write the changes to a separate file called a deployment plan. It allows you to change performance and environment settings without disturbing the original EAR file.
