How to reference to a relative group of cells in numbers for iOS ?

Hi,
I'm trying to use numbers on my iPhone to track my daily work expenses, inputting my data through a formulary.
What I've come up with so far is a 2-sheet, 1-formulary document. The first sheet contains the raw data : week number, date, place, expenses, and a few checkboxes. The second sheet is meant to be a weekly summary where each row synthesizes a whole 5-day week, giving me the total money spent on that week and the number of checkboxes ticked.
Say my raw data sheet contains daily expenses on column C.
In my weekly summary sheet, I write a formula that sums first sheet's C1:C5.
But as I copy that formula down, I don't get the result I want. Where I look for the sum of first sheet's C6:C10, I get the sum of C2:C6, C3:C7 when I want C11:C15 and so on.
How can I tell Numbers to give me the sum of a group of 5 consecutive rows, and then use the same formula on the next rows getting the sums of the next 5-item group ? (manually modifying each formula to refer to the right cells is not an option)

Would the "Find" option in the "Tools" menu do the job?
If you search for the part number, it will be highlightet, and with your outline for a setup, I guess that would give you the overview you are talking about.

is there any way to insert an image inside a cell using Numbers for iPad? I tried doing it on desktop version and it works, then I shared it through iwork.com and downloaded into my iPad and it's showing fine on the iPad ( although there's no way to edit or change the image inside the cell ) but when I try to do the same task on iPad itself, the image always comes floating even if I place the cursor inside a cell before inserting.
any idea how to do it or if it's even possible?

Images can be added to cells only as "image fill." Cell fill is an attribute of the cell, not content of the cell. Only cell content can be retrieved by a formula or by copying the content of the cell.
Copying the cell will also copy its format, including the image fill, but I've found no way to extract the image from the cell.

Yes!! I solved my own problem!
Tap the thick table toolbar at the top of the column you want to resize, then when this toolbar section is highlighted in blue, drag the tiny little double line at the right hand side of highlighted toolbar as wide as you wish! This can be repeated to change the height of columns by repeating these steps on the left hand side table bar.

I can't be the only person to find it incredibly frustrating that it seems impossible to add a comment to a cell in beta. I use this function a lot on my ipad - is it really not available in beta?? And if not, why not??

Thanks for the question. You are correct, comments are hidden from all iWork apps when imported to iWork for iCloud beta. Please note that the current release of Numbers for iCloud is a beta version. Therefore, certain features aren’t yet supported.

On a smaller keyboard, such as the wireless, or on portables, you can use fn- left arrow for home and fn- right arrow for end.
On a Mac, 'home and 'end' take you to the beginning and the end of document, respectively. Getting to the beginning or end of a line is done with cmd- leftarrow and cmd- rightarrow. Emacs shortcuts, such a ctrl-a and ctrl- e also work in most places, where the app is done right.

You can style a table to remove grid lines and only show an "outline" around the table itself.

Maybe I'm not I'm not seeing things wright but I can't find any possibilitie to search photos by name, title, keyword with iPhoto (1.0.1) on my iPad 2 (5.1.1)

as Frank Caggiano said. There is not really any Apple-provided application on the iPad that will support a full-fledged photo database like the Mac-versions of Aperture or iPhoto. Even the IOS app iPhoto is nothing like the Mac version of iPhoto. The iPad version is not a photo database but a tool for editing, sharing, and viewing photos - the iPhoto Help is saying:
With iPhoto for iOS, you have everything you need to view, edit, and share your photos on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch (with iOS 7).
You can organize your photos in iPhoto IOS in a limited way by tagging them, so that they will apear in albums: What are albums?
To tag them with flags or keywords see: Flag, tag, hide photos
Considering the limited space on IOS devices, the designers probably did not expect anybody to try to store so many photos on an iPad that it would be necessary to search for them other than using the predefined Views (Moments, Places) in the Photos.app, or iPhoto's albums. And any library organization you are doing in the Photos.app or iPhoto will not sync back to your computer.

You mean for iOS 6 that was recently announced and won't be released until this fall?
If so, iOS updates are free - you won't be paying anything for it, and the same for iOS 5.
Apple has provided some of the new features included with iOS 6, but not list of all since iOS 6 has not been released yet. Some of the features included with the current iOS 6 BETA version may be removed or changed.

How to create an action to insert hundreds of different numbers for limited edition prints?

I sell limited edition prints of a run of between 350 and 500.
I am trying to get it set up so that my signature and the print number is included as part of the print. Here is an example:
You'll see at bottom left there is my signature and underneath is is the print number e.g. 110/350 (this is legible when printed at 18x12" size).
Inserting the signature and the "/350" is easy since it only needs to be done once per image.
The difficulty comes with inserting the actual print number e.g. "110"
At the moment I have 0 to 9 written out and scanned in as separate numbers. So to make "110" I use the "1" digit twice, plus the "0" digit. I.e. I haven't written out 1 to 500 and scanned them in all as separate numbers, I've just done the 10 digits and use those 10 digits to make all the different numbers I need.
Is there a way to create an action that will create say 350 JPEG copies of the original file, each one with its own unique print number inserted? (And ideally automatically saved with the print number as its file name!)

Edit: This Script just uses the layers’ horizontal bounds for orientation, so it does not address the issue I referred to earlier reagrding aesthetically pleasing spacing of the elements.

How can I specify which contacts group is my preferred/default for my iPhone?

Similar situation as others I've seen...
My wife and I share an iTunes account. We also use that account for our iCloud account. We want to share our calendar(s) with each other. We enjoy having access to the number of contact groups we've put together over the years.
I want to be able to designate one of the contact groups as my default reference for my iPhone so that when I recieve messages and calls they are recognized by the identifiers in my phone's contacts list (not as if they are my wife's contacts). Sure, we could set up multiple iCloud accounts... We feel we shouldn't have to, besides, that wouldn't allow us to share our calenders and contacts anymore. It seems to my that the most "Apple" way of fixing this would be to have a "Settings" option in the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" - particularly in the "Contacts" grouping to have a "Primary Contacts Group" (if more than one is detected) option to choose from.
Is this something that can be done or do I need to submit this as a requested future feature to something like the Apple Bug Reporter?

However, I got an error: not a GROUP By expression.
If i just run: select count(*), to_char(s.pdate,'Mon-yyyy') as month from sTable s

it is work fine.
How to solve the problem.

How to reference latest entry in row B (cell number unknown)

Hi,
I have a spreadsheet charting coins recieved each day. Along the top I have dates increasing, and down the left hand side I have different coins e.g. €2, €1, 50c etc. So for example in cell (September 20, €1) I might have 23. Then underneath all this I have total numbers of each coin, and then the total amount of money in the whole table. However what I want to do is find the totals for the most recent day as well. So what I need to do is to be able to reference the furthest right occupied cell, so that the totals will update every time I fill in a new column.

How do I print or export only selected cells in Numbers?

Does anyone know how to do this in Numbers? I have been trying to do this for well over an hour...... I have looked at other posters' questions first, all the way back to 2008 in fact. The closest I have seen to an answer (and it is a workaround, not a true answer) is copy the selected cells into a new sheet. I have been using software spreadsheets (Lotus 123 and later Excel) going back to the mid-1980's. I cannot remember the last time I could not do this.
Friends, I do realize that many of the workarounds would have taken far less time than what I have invested, please do not feel the need to point that out. I am heading for a workaround right now as I have run out of time to devote to this task. Also, please do not suggest that I should "capture" the data by copying a screen shot to the clipboard or have it dump a .png on my desktop. Most of us here should know how to do that by now but that does not address the underlying issue of how to provide only a select piece of a spreadsheet to a 3rd party in a professional looking format. Well, off to copy and paste........

Update (15 min later):
Boy, I hope one of you out there knows the solution to this. Copy and paste the selected area does not work either. You lose (this was an "Oh, duh!" sort of moment BTW) any figures populated by calculations not in the selection area.
Need to go eat, will try to feed the values in the new table from the same calculations in the first table. I can do that easily in Excel, I just have not tried it yet in Numbers. I am optomistic that it will work.

I made a test which gave a funny result.
Given a Numbers document with a chart.
I selected the chart, the title and the legends
then I grouped these objects.
Select all
copy
run the script
I pasted in the sheet to be able to take a screenshot.
It's a bit inconsistent.
Text values are passed when they are in cells
They are passed when they are used as value labels in the chart
but they aren't passed when they are chart's title or legend's components.
Funny behavior, the graphic symbols are moved in the process to the location where they would be if the text components were nil strings.
No comment upon a table's title which can't be selected with the table itself.

How do you create forms in numbers the same as in numbers for ios

I have a Macbook Running Maveriks 10.92 and Ipad running IOS7. I have numbers on both machines. On the Ipad there is a function that allows you to add a form to enter data from a sheet using Popups.
I can not find this function on the Macbook Pro.
All versions are the latest.

Numbers for iOS supports forms.
Numbers for OS X does not support forms (yet).
Make a request for this feature using the Provide Numbers Feedback item in the Numbers menu.
