How to register "GIF" graphic format

Hi guys;
In my java application , i need to check if the "GIF" graphic format
is registred on my machine registery. If it is not the program should
register this format.I don't have any knowledge how to deal with
System registry using java.can any one tell me how to implement
this functionality ?
I would appreciate a lot any sample source code.
Thanks for helping!
-othman.

An "export filter" strongly suggests an add-on,just
like wordperfect addons for MS Word. And if thatis
the case then you are not going to be changing the
registry to add it because that is not all that is
needed. You would actually need to installsomething.
you are right ! i think this is the issue...when doin
a custom powerpoint installation you choose whih
filter format to support...I'm not sure if GIF will
always be there !
what to do if i have this problem ?
thanksSeveral choices...
1. You check the registry. If if the expected value isn't there you tell the user to install it. Don't attempt to do what you want until it is there. This is somewhat problematic because the registry might change with different versions of power point.
2. Use autoit (google it) to automate the install process. Rather problematic for a number of reasons including that the user might not what to do that, or the user might not have the disks right then or the install changed and your autoit script does't work. And of course autoit has to be installed.
3. Check the registry and don't even start if the registry entry isn't there. In the documentation for you app make it clear that this is what will happen.

    how do i save canvas drawing in a graphical format like gif, tif, bitmap, etc. I have been trying to research it and have not found any definites on how to do this... can it be done directly through java or is a special tool needed? I do not want to save as jpeg because information is lost through jpeg for this particular kind of program. Please help.

    no, i am not looking to draw a gif image or import from a url. I have drawn an image(edges, circles, and rectangles) using graphics on a canvas. Now, what I want to do is save it ina gif/tif/ or other graphical format other than jpeg and be able to open it in programs like photoshop, etc. thanks

  • How to save simple graphics drawn on canvas as gifs, bitmaps, etc.

    I figured out how to draw a graphics object which is abstract for an application rather than an applet. Now, my question is, how do I save these simple graphics (lines, rectangles, circles,etc) drawn on canvas as gifs, bitmaps, etc. so that they may later be opened using other graphical viewers.
    another question I was wondering was if graphics is a AWT only class (ie no better swing equivalent)

    Thanks in advan...........

    I think that is possible because i have seen some commercial applets that do that.
    -http://www.izhuk.com/painter/
    -http://www.lawrencegoetz.com/programs/signature/
    Thses two saves the image in the server since applets cant write in the host they are running. Maybe it would be possible whit JFS, i don't know.
    For now I am trying to store an image draw in the applet on my server.
    My idea now is copying the image to a buffer or something, open a connection to the server and receive the image with a perl CGI.
    There is an example with text:

    I want to do something similar but with an image.

    Hi,
    this problem is not only related to warehouse. even the print preview spool for GR/GI slip in t-code SP01 shows as ABAP list and not as graphical screen.
    my question is why does the system shows the print preview for spool as an ABAP list instead of graphical view.

  • How JPG or GIF Image open in MIDP?

  • How to register a new docicon/progid using CSOM/SharePoint Client object model

    I know how to register a new file-type icon in SharePoint 2013 by modifying docicon.xml,
    but is it possible via any sort of web-based API? Specifically I'm trying to do it for a SharePoint Online/office 365 site.

    Hi Dylan,
    For SharePoint Online, the docicon.xml is stored in the SharePoint online Server and there is no such Web API could modify the xml file directly, so there is no easy way to achieve it.
    As a workaround, you can add some JavaScript and Jquery in the master page to modify the file type icon to the new one.
    <script>
    var IMGs = document.getElementsByTagName("IMG")
    for (var i=0; i<IMGs.length; i++)
    var alt=IMGs[i].alt;
    if (alt.substring(alt.length-4,alt.length)==".pdf")
    IMGs[i].src="/yourlibrary/yourimage.gif";
    </script>

  • How to Add a graphical Sequence panel  in a webhelp layout?

    Hi,
    Can anyone please let me know how to add a graphical pane on
    the top right of every topic which would show the flow of sequence,
    the single source layout being webhelp.
    I'll be more clear......
    If we click on Help>Tutorial>HTML ROBOHELP Tutorial. we
    see a panel on the right which shows the graphical flow of files.
    Can i do the same when i create a webhelp layout.(in html
    format)....Please Please Please let me know!
    Thanks
    Sincerely
    Siddb.

    Hi Siddb and welcome to our community
    What you see in the RoboHelp help file is a browse sequence
    as it is presented in a Compiled .CHM file. WebHelp and FlashHelp
    do not offer this type of a browse sequence. Instead, they use
    little Previous and Next arrows that sit just above the Table of
    Contents/Index/Glossary/Search in that little toolbar.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Labwindows/cvi graphic format

    Hi,
    Does anyone know how to convert an IntensityPlot to a graphical format known
    by Word (e.g.pcx, tif, bmp, jpg,...)
    thank you in advance.
    Bjorn

    Hi,
    there are two pssibilities:
    CVI includes functions to get panels, graphs as memory bitmaps and it is fairly
    simple to make it into a bmp and write it to a file.
    Another possibility we used is to print panels to a temporary file using for
    example a postscript printer driver. Then you get a nice mixture of vector
    graphics elements (for the labels, grids etc.) and bitimages.

    Hi,
    You may or may not need to "register" the workflow - it depends on the changes that you made and which Item Type you modified. Some applications are essentially hard-coded to use a specific item type and process, some hard-coded to use an item type but you can configure the process to use, and some allow you to specify which item type and which process to use.
    Without knowing exactly what you have done, though, there is no specific advice that anyone can give you here on what you need to do, apart from to ensure that you have saved the new definition to the database.
