How to remove any kind of Airport Express settings on computer

My boss gave me an Airport Express 802.11n Wi-Fi to "extend" his current network which runs on a Belkin router. He has another router (linksys) that works in the office area, but wanted to eliminate the need for this router and run everything off of the belkin; therefore having everything on the same network.
Now I was simply getting acquainted with the device and after I plugged in the ethernet cable for the linksys, it has totally screwed up my wireless settings on my laptop. I'd like to go back to just being able to connect to the linksys without having to have the AX plugged in. But as it stands now, any time I unplug the AX, I then cannot connect to the linksys at all. It shows up under my available networks, but anytime I try to connect to it, it times out. This cuts me off from the printer/scanner/fax machine.
Is there any way that I can just remove all this crap from my wireless settings and start over? I've tried resetting the AX, restarting my computer, and whatnot. None of that has worked.
Also, I was told by a friend of mine that the AX is only to be used with an AirPort Express Extreme. Is this true for all uses of an AX or just the extension of an existing network. Any advice on how we could efficiently distribute the Belkin router's signal to the rest of the house/office would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, please try the following:
1. Delete Preferred Network(s)
o System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
o In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
o Delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list
2. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
o Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
o Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
o Restart, or log out then back in.
3. Add Preferred Network(s)
o System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
o In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
o Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
o Restart or log out then back in.
If that doesn't resolve the problem, then try the following:
Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
o Go to /Library/Preferences
o Move the SystemConfiguration folder and com.apple.networkConfig.plist file to the desktop.
o Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder & .plist file back to its original location.)

  • How to remove any kinds extensios in result search

    Hi for all,
In 'crawler.dat' file in 'default file name suffix exclusion list' session I add others extensios:
RX_BOUNDARY (?i:(?:\.jpg)|(?:\.jpeg) ... (?:\.css)|(?:\.js))$However, these files are showed in the result search of SES. I would like remove in result search *.js files, for example.
    How could I do this?
    Kind regards,

That change will only affect files which are crawled in the future. It won't have any effect on results returned from previous crawls. You'll need to recrawl the source (or probably better, drop the source and recreate it) for that to have the proper effect.

I have an old Airport Express streaming iTunes to a Bose Wave Radio. I wanted to change the name, but it requires Airport Utility 5.6 and that isn't supported by Mavericks. How do I access my old airport express with a computer on OSX 9?

Yes, if you are running Tiger 10.4.x and have AirPort Utility 5.4.2 installed.

  • I have just changed internet providers from BT to Virgin, and now my iTunes doesn't show any of my airport express devices.

I have just changed internet providers from BT to Virgin, and now my iTunes doesn't show any of my airport express devices.  I assume that I have to reconfigure them to the the new wireless but how do I do this frmo my PC?  Thanks

I would recommend that you start by performing a "factory default" reset on each of your AirPort Express base stations. Once completed, you can use the following Apple Support article to configure each base station for streaming.

How can I set up mhy Airport Express to extend my Time Capsule wifi wirelessly
Assuming that you have the model A1264 or A1392 version of the Express, it must be located where it can receive a strong wireless signal from the Time Capsule to be able to extend it correctly.
A good general location would be a point that is about half way between the Time Capsule and other area that needs more wireless coverage.
You will use AirPort Utility on your computer to configure the Express. An iPhone or iPad could be used as well.
We can provide more help....if you need it....but we'll need to know what version of AirPort Utility that you are using on your computer....or whether you want to use an iPhone or iPad to setup the Express.

I have a linksys WRT54G router that we use as a base. I want to use Airplay using Airport Express and hook up my stereo to it. How can i set up my Airport express without a PC/laptop? I just downloaded Airport utility on my iphone and ipad, will that work? And one more thing about the setup, the linksys router shich acts as a base is in a different room as the airport express which i wanted to use for airplay. So I'm hoping to hook up the Airport express via wireless signal. If i can set it up, can someone pls help me out by posting detailed instructions. Thanks so much!

The first message that AirPort Utility will display during the auto setup will be that the Express will be confgured to "extend" the network. When AirPort Utility analyzes the network further, and sees that the Express cannot "extend" the 3rd party network, the next message will indicate that the Express is being configured to "join" the wireless network.
Once the Express is configured, if you later go into AirPort Utility to check the settings under the Wireless tab, you will see that the Wireless Mode is indeed "Join a wireless network".

How many people can simultaneously share airport express network?  I want to set up a wireless network in my classroom and need to accommodate about 25 devices.

The AirPort Express will only handle 10 wireless connections.
You will need to consider an AirPort Extreme....which will handle up to 50 wireless connections.

  • HT1515 How do i get my old AirPort Express (7years old) to work with my new Time Capsule?

How do i get my old AirPort Express (7years old) to work with my new Time Capsule?

Does anyone at Apple have help for this sort of question - I too have an old printer (HP LaserJet 5MP) that I would like to keep using on my Mac. (Mac OSX 10.6.8).
I got it working by getting a USB cord that connects to it - but every once in a while it just stops working for weeks. The mac 'sees' it and it sends the data because the printer lights start blinking but then it just doesn't do anything. Is there no one who can tell me (and raterada) how to get some new life into these old printers. I would rather not add this (and a new toner cart) to the landfill just yet. . .

How do I set up an Airport Express as a hard wired wifi accesspoint?

Please check out the following Apple Support article for configuring your routers for a "Roaming" network. In this case the AirPort Express would be connected back to your other wireless router by Ethernet and configured as a bridge. This would effectively make the Express perform as a Wireless Access Point.

Two quick things to check using AirPort Utility on both devices:
    On your "main" base station
Open AirPort Utility - click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab/label located just below the row of icons
There must be a check mark next to "Allow this network to be extended"
Click Update to save your changes.
If you don't see this option, you likely have an older AirPort Extreme that does not support the "extend" feature. Please clarify on the version that you have
    On your AirPort Express
Open AirPort Utility - click Manual Setup
    Click the Wireless tab
Wireless Mode = Extend a wireless network
Wireless Name = Same name as your main network
Check mark next to "Allow wireless clients"
Wireless Security = Same setting as your main router
Wireless Password = Same password as your main network
    Confirm Password
    Click Update to save settings
If you do not see the "Extend a wireless network setting", you may have an older AirPort Express, or if you are sure that you have a newer 802.11n model, try holding down the option key while you click on the selection box to see if the "Extend" setting will appear.
Assuming no major obstructions between the main router and area that needs more wireless coverage, a good starting location for the Express would be a point that is approximately half the distance between the main router and the area that needs more coverage.
As I said, this feature works very well if major obstructions do not come into play.

  • How do I hook up my airport expresses to my internet that has ethernet from router to computer?

    Hello Community,
I recently got new and better internet. In order for the 105 up speed, and 50 down speed to run to its full capacity I had to route my ethernet directly from the modem to the computer. I currently have a Wi-Fi Network that i am operating. Now I am looking to connect my two airport expresses to this new setup.
One surpose being to run my speakers wirelessly and to activate wireless printing. The airport base stations I have are at least 3 years old. They have Ethernet, speaker, and USB connection.
I am wondering how to do this?
    The airport expresses are:
    1. In the same room.
    2. In a different room.
I am wondering if anybody knows how to activate the signal on both airport expresses. Both manually and/or via command lines and PPPoE, or DHCP type setups on the computer.
Has anyone had experience configuring internet in this manner that can help?
    Thank you.

Does the modem provide wireless or only wired? If the latter then you need to get a router or use one AEX as your main router and the other to extend that wireless network. Better yet is to get an Airport Extreme Base Station to use as your principal router.
