How to replace original photos?

I am helping my mom set up her iPad. We bought her a used one, generation 1 with ios 5. Every photo editor we have tried saves edited photos as a new photo. It's making tons of copies of photos that she just doesn't need. Even a simple edit, like rotate, makes a new photo.
Is there a way to change the settings in Photoshop Express so that the edits replace the original? For non-photographers who don't care about retaining the pristine original copy (which probably isn't that great in the first place), this would be an ideal option.
If Photoshop Express can't do this, can anyone recommend an app that does?
Thanks so much,
Angie

Photoshop express always creates a new copy of the edited photograph in order to preserve the original image. Also we do not provide a setting to do so.
Thanks,
shuchi

  • How to replace original photos with modified ones?

    Hi from Paris France ,
is there a way to get rid of original photos and replace them by the modified ones (ie "modified" are becoming "original")?
    Thx

    it is bad philosophy anyway...
Actually iPhoto is following the digital asset management best practice philosophy of always keeping a digital negative untouched and intact. iPhoto is an entry level DAM application for the general public. To do what you want you might look into the more advanced DAM applications that will let you do what you want. You can learn about them at The DAM Forum for professional photographers.
I use Media Expression which I think is one of the best as my primary DAM and iPhoto for special projects. But alas it doesn't not have Faces and Places. It does read geo-tagged image files but you'll have to assign "Location" identity to them by editing the IPTC metadata fields with EM.
One method to avoid having the portrait photos modified by iPhoto it to upload the photos to a folder on the Desktop before importing. There you can losslessly rotate those files that need it. It also gives you an opportunity to rename the files to something more informative that IMG_001.jpg.

  • Delete or replace "original" photos in iPhoto '08?

Once I've completed all edits that I want to do on a particular picture in iPhoto '08, is there a way to replace the original photo so that I am not storing two versions on the hard drive? (Mostly to save space.) I don't care to ever revert back to the original once I'm satisfied.
    Thanks!

Export the photos, delete them in iphoto, empty the iPhoto trash and import the photos you exported
There is no other way to do it safely

  • Can anyone tell me how to separate original photo files from the edited files in Photoshop Elements 13?

We run a child sponsorship program and we only use the edited files and delete the originals after they are edited due to space restrictions. We are using Mac's and we save our photo files each month into a folder (Not Iphoto) and then pull them into Photoshop Elements 13 to edit and resize.  When they are saved, Photoshop Organizer saves the edited files in the same file folder as the original.  We then have to manually go through and delete the original Photos.  We tried exporting and that does only export the edited files, but is there any way to edit photos and then the edited photos go into a separate file?

    GLADIXIE a écrit:
For all 5000 photos?  Surely there is a simpler way after we go through and crop each photo and clean it up and then resize it?
I imagine that what you want, once you have edited your month files in their month folder, is to delete the original and keep only the 'top' file in the version set. Then select all the files in your folder (Ctrl A), right click on any thumbnail and choose 'Version set'. In the dialog that opens, select 'flatten version sets'.

  • How to replace original submit_mc?

    Hello
I have an FLA file which came with an online tutorial on how
to send emails from Flash MX 2004.
I wish to incorporate it into my own site and have done most
of the work which this involves.
However, the original came with a huge, ugly 'Submit' button
(submit_mc) and I would like to replace it with my own JPEG
'Submit' button which is more subtle and attractive.
How do I replace the original with my own, that is, how do I
substitute my own while assuming all the properties of the original
    submit_mc?
    Many thanks.
    Steve

    Steve,
If the original .FLA file has all the graphics in the
library, you should be able to get the properties of that submit
graphic in terms of dimensions and pixel size. Create your own
button with those dimensions, and then, go into flash, view the
properties of the ugly submit button (the original graphic, not the
movieClip) and there should be an "Import" button. You can choose
this and if you import your graphic, it should replace the old one
with yours. I don't have MX2004 here, so it's possible that button
is called something else, so someone can let me know if I'm wrong
    there. That should do it.

  • How to delete original photo's that have been retouched?

For Ex: I'll have 8 similar picture's of my ferret's that I have retouched in order to look better--but how do I delete the original 7 that I don't need anymore? And this goes for practically my entire library--I have about 1000 photos with about 8000 similar duplicates--that I don't need.
How do I get rid of these . . . and I've tried iPhoto Diet--and (I might be using it wrong or something but) it doesn't delete more than 3 or 4 photos after about 30 mins. and like I stated above I need to get rid of about 7000 more photos.
I've tried going thru each and everyone deciding if it was the better "retouched" photo but it takes light years to go thru my entire library.
    Any easier way?
    Thanks!
    --Dave

    Ok, let's try:
In the finder sidebar, you should have the different Music, Applications, Pictures Icons. In Pictures there should be one folder called iPhoto Library.
I set up a Smart Folder (in Finder > File > New Smart Folder), searching for the term 'original' within my Pictures folder.
This folder should show you all the Originals folders within the iPhoto Library.
Clicking on List View (Apple-2), you can sort your Originals folders (well, at least the search results) by Date, if you know you edited some pictures today or yesterday, or by size, finding the most edited pics from one day.
Clicking on each of these Originals folders will reveal the original, unedited pics (which you probably wanna throw in the bin, if you don't need them), as well as the MPG movies which some digital cameras can make. So be careful with throwing away the whole folders before checking the contents.
If I really want to keep an original shot, say if I do some major colour change in Photoshop for example, then I usually duplicate the photo within iPhoto. This way I can edit one, and still keep the second, both visible within iPhoto, without having to worry were the 'invisible' Original is.
I hope this makes things clearer. Let me know, if it helps.
    stefan.

  • Retroactively replacing "original" photos?

I have a camera whose RAW files aren't supported by iPhoto, but I hope that they will be soon. (See http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10331751 )
I'm trying to figure out what to do in the meantime, since I don't want really want to be stuck with only JPGs from the time between now an when Apple gets around to adding RAW support... but I can't easily wait to edit and use my photos until iPhoto can read the RAW version.
    I'd love to
    - simultaneously shoot RAWs and JPGs (i.e. store both versions of each picture, which most Nikons let you do),
    - import the JPGs now into iPhoto
    - make edits to (most of) the pictures
    - then, once RAW support is added, overwrite iPhoto's "original" JPGs with the NEFs, while maintaining the "current" version with the edits.
    - For the pictures that need further tweaking which won't work as well on JPG (e.g., significant WB adjustment or highlight recovery), I can reprocess RAW and start over, and for the rest I can stick with what I've got.
Is there any way to do this... or is this just wishful thinking?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Mike
I don't think you can do this.
    - simultaneously shoot RAWs and JPGs (i.e. store both versions of each picture, which most Nikons let you do),
    That's easy as you know.
    - import the JPGs now into iPhoto
    Easy too
    - make edits to (most of) the pictures
    Straightforward enough
    - then, once RAW support is added, overwrite iPhoto's "original" JPGs with the NEFs, while maintaining the "current" version with the edits.
And this is where it falls apart. You'll be replacing Pic1.jpeg with a different file called Pic1.NEF. iPhoto won't recognise it as related in anyway to the modified version. So where you try to
    - ...reprocess RAW and start over...
iPhoto won't know of its existence. It'll just complain that it cannot find the original.
FWIW: I shoot Nikon too, and while my D40 is supported I actually process the RAWs in Capture NX2, export as jpeg and import the jpegs to iPhoto. I store the RAWs separately. I do this because NX2 does the best job on the NEFs that I have seen. And I've tried Aperture, Lightroom, iPhoto, Capture One and a couple of others.

  • Replacing original photo library on iphone

I synced my phone and lost the original artwork /photos that came on the phone. Anyone know where or if you can download those?

They should not have been removed from the phone when Sync'd. Go to settings and tap on Wallpaper, will take you to another Screen, Tap wallpaper again. You should see all the preloaded Pictures and artwork.
If this does not show all the original Pictures and artwork, the phone would have to be restored to get them back.

  • How to download original photo from iCloud photo (beta) on PC?

I'm having this problem a while now... I hope there is a solution for it.
When I edit a photo on my iPhone it uploads to iCloud photo (beta) edited, when I access my iCloud photo (beta) from PC... I can only view and download the photo edited and I can not revert it to original.
Is it possible in the beta? If not, will it be in the future?
    Thanks,

Unfortunately you can't download an iCloud backup to a computer, or restore individual files.

  • How to replace original JTree node with + and - sign or icon??

You have to use Windows look and feel instead of Java look and feel.

  • How to see original photo after exporting to photoshop

    Hello,
When making adjustments to the RAW file in Lightroom I know you can use the "\" key to see the before image. However, when I export to photoshop it saves a second image back into Lightroom.
When looking at this new image is there a way to flip back and forth with the original RAW??
    Thanks
    Scott

No, that isn't possible because the new image is a completely separate file. But there's nothing preventing you from using the arrow keys in Lightroom to move back and forth between the two images. Or, you can highlight the two images and press the letter C to compare the two images side-by-side.

  • How to view original photo?

Once I drop a PDF or image file into numbers, it fills the cell it was dropped into. Is there a way to view the full image? When I double click the image, nothing happens. There aren't any options in the context menu for viewing it.

    Badunit wrote:
I was also unable to figure out how to pass the background image from one table to another. Do you know how to do it?
    Nope.
In fact, background color isn't defined as a cell's property but as a range one.
    Look a this short script.
I splitted it in pieces to be able to check easily what fails.
tell application "Numbers" to tell document 1 to tell sheet 1
    tell table "Tableau 1"
set bc to get background color of range "B2"
    end tell
    tell table "Tableau 2"
set background color of range "C2:C3" to bc
    end tell
    end tell
If the background color on the cell "B2" is a solid color, it behaves flawlessly.
If the background color is of an other kind : *_blended color (gradient), image, Tinted Image_* it fails.
The only workaround which I got is based on my first script.

  • Diappearing photos replaced by an exclamation point within a triangle.  Prior to loading Lion I could put the image number in finder and locate the original file for that photo.  How do I restore photos now?

I had problems with photos disappearing and being replaced by an exclamation point within a triangle.  I can see the photo in the thumbnail summary but when you click on it, the screen goes black and the exclamation point within a triangle appears along with the info on the original image number (i.e., img_1120.jpg). Prior to loading Lion, I could go to Finder, enter the image number and locate the original file for that photo.  I could then restore it for editing, copying into Print Shop directly, etc.   That no longer works after installing Lion.   How do I restore photos now?  I have 100s of photos that I have been going back to the original files and restoring and I am frantic that I will no longer be able to get to the original files.  Please help!  Thanks

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • How do i make picture files on my ipod touch 4th generation, without itunes wanting to keep deleting everything in the original photo library.... I was only able to make on and can't remember how, but when I try to sync when touch is hooked up to itunes

I have had my ipod touch 4th generation for a couple months now.... Nowhere in the manuals or help sections does it tell me how to make individual pucture files(like that already on my computer) put onto my ipod touch.... I managed to make one and I can't remember how I did it but when I have the touch hooked up to itunes and try to pick which picture files from my computer to sync, a box always opens and says that it will delete everything in the original photo library that was in there.....
Can anyone help me there has to be away, I know someone has done it but they don't live here to show me!!!!
    Please and thanx in advance!!!!!!!

where on my computer am I suppose to make the individual picture files and have them to upload on my ipod touch.... I do have a photo library on my computer, but in the photo tab in itunes for the ipod touch and there is nothing checked for syncing, cause when I do check it it always says its going to replace everything i have in my photo library on my ipod touch.....  So how am i suppose to have it checked and have it NOT replace pictures on it????
Also I cannot make more photo albums into my ipod touch, it just replaces the one album every time....
I am very frustrated cause I have tried the manuals and the apple support help etc and nothing pertains to my exact issue.....

  • How can I add photos to a video without interrupting the sound of the original video?

In PE11, How can I add photos to a video without interrupting the sound of the original video?

Thanks for getting your details posted. Good job.
    You further explained
I am simply wanting to “overlay” a new visual element without disturbing the underlying audio.
A classical way to do a Premiere Elements Overlay is to hold down the Ctrl key of the computer main keyboard and drag the new clip over the area of the one you want to replace on the Timeline. That should not do anything but replace one portion of the video on the Timeline. No change in duration video or audio track if you are dealing with video linked to audio.
If you hold down the Alt key of the computer main keyboard, I am envising a scenario where you want to add to (not replace) some Timeline content.
A just in case note, if you have video on Video 1 and 2 and the video in 2 does not have transparent areas in it, then all you will see is the Video 2 content. I believe that Hunt eluded to that concept as a possible technique for what you might be doing.
Another just in case, if you have not seen the following Adobe documentation on arranging clips, you might be interested in the following link
