How to restrict selections...

Hello guys,
How can I restrict certain values on a system table? for example: p_matnr like matnr in the selection-screen. Also, how can I show a error message that when a user selects an invalid value?

You have event called AT-SELECTION_SCREEN.
Validate your input value on the same table and rasie error message if that value is not found.
AT SELECTION-SCREEN.

Hi Friends,
I have 3 roles, which are Role-1, Role-2, Role-3.
Role-2 & Role-3 are Under/Part of Role-1.
Now, I have assigned Role-1 to a user. By doing this, When he logs in he is able to see the Role-2 and Role-3 also eventhough we havent assigned Role-2&3.
Now My question is, How to restrict a role under a role. For example, I dont want to show Role-3.
When i checked the user roles assigned, i see only Role-1 but not 2 other roles.
Could anyone advice on how to make unwanted role in role. Assuming, no one is going to assign directly with Role-2 & Role-3. They got assigned only Role-1.

Thanks for important/useful information. I really dont understand is., Inspite of giving the properties to the each of role/workset, How do we call the approprite under the role. for example :
If we have Role-2 with propery dept=sd,
and Role-3 with propert dept=xi, etc.
Now i have Role-1, within which i have Role-2 and Role-3.
Now, if i want to see only roles with dept=xi then where should i mention and what should i mention.
I understood till creating the properties, assigning the properties to roles/worksets, giving values to properties.
Only i doesnt understood is how to activate which we want in the scenario.

Whenever we create nodes then by default the Initialization lead selection property of node is always checked. That why in the alv by default the first row is selected.
To restrict this default selection just unchecked the Initialization lead selection property of your node.

We can get the Program whether this is running in background or not then we need to use SY-BATCH, if the SY-BATCH is set to X then the program is running in Background,
so in the INITIALIZATION event, you can use this SY-BATCH and check the User names, and give the error messsage which you want to restrict

How to restrict the user(Schema) from deleting the data from a table

Hi All,
I have scenario here.
I want to know how to restrict a user(Schema) from deleting the values from a table created in the same schema.
Below is the example.
I have created a table employee in abc schema which has two values.
EMPLOYEE
ABC
XYZ
In the above scenario the abc user can only fire select query on the EMPLOYEE table.
SELECT * FROM EMPLOYEE;
He should not be able to use any other DML commands on that table.
If he uses then Insufficient privileges error should be thrown.
Can anyone please help me out on this.

I just saw the previous response, which makes some additional good points (e.g., a user can always TRUNCATE his own tables). ALso, if user ABC applies a security policy to the table, then user ABC can also remove the policy, so if you really want to prevent user ABC from deleting rows, no matter how hard the user tries, then you need to create the policies in a different schema. If you're creating things in a different schema, then you might as well create the table in a different schema.

How to restrict users from printing documents and exporting to local file

1. How can I restrict users from printing a document? i.e. billdoc? I would like to know if I could block it though authorization. If yes, what auth obj to use?

Check this:
Create your own gui status and attach it to the list in the event START-OF-SELECTION.
In the menu painter extra -> adjust template.
Make it a list status and you will see all the standard list options appear including list->download
Deactivate the ones you don't want.
If you just want to prevent users from downloading the list you can achieve this with authorization object S_GUI, activity 61. Menu option will still be there though.
Please note that if you remove authorisation for S_GUI activity 61 then all downloads will not be possible.
If you just want to disable downloads only for a particular report, you can try this test program:

I want to restrict the duplicate values at lov which is a colunm in an Adv Table.
If user enters duplicate values then first it should show an error msg that Duplicate values have been entered.
After the duplicate values have been removed, then the user can save all the values in the table.
My Adv Table is based on a VO.

I hope u had gone to the screen fields which u want them not to be editable. So there u select all the fields contents which u do not want to to be changed and check the boxes with W.content and Display and save it. Once evrything is done u have to activate the particular transcation going in to the standard variants and put the name and click the activate button.

I mean, when a user saves a variant for his/her purpuse on some report program, only he/she can refer the variant while other users cannot.
I know that by setting the attribute of the variant ("Protect Variant ", "Only Display in Catalog"), this would be possible, but I want to know another way, without this setting.

How to restrict service purchase orders in MEIS report

We create service PO (Doc type NB)with acct assignment u201CKu201D and with material description (No Item category and without service master) , GR with MIGO and invoice with MIRO.
While executing MEIS report (INTRASAT Arrivals-EU countries) it should not show the service PO. but due to EU region vendor
System is populating Import tab at header and item level with Number of foreign trade data say as 0000203584 and Delivering country as GB

You can go for the Dynamic Selection, at the Purchasing Document Item Level and in that you will find Material,
on selecting it, in the field for Material,
Double Click it, a screen will pop-up Giving "=", Not Equal to Options, there you Select "not Equalt To" Option.
that means, you want the line item with the Material No present in it.

How to restrict the user to enter only numeric values in a input field

How to restrict the user to enter only numeric values in a input field.
For example,
i have an input field in that i would like to enter
only numeric values. no special characters,alphabets .

Hi Venuthurupalli,
As valery has said once you select the value to be of type integer,once you perform an action it will be validated and error message that non numeric characters are there will be shown. If you want to set additional constraints like max value, min value etc you can use simple types for it.
On the project structure on left hand side under local dictionary ->datatypes->simple types create a simple type of type integer
The attribute which you are binding to value property ;make its type as simple type which you made
