How to restrict the number of Records into the Table?
Is there any way that I can restrict the number of records can be entered into the table?
For example I have created a table TAB1 with size category 0( zero).
User dont want to enter more than 100 values, How to restrict the number entries? Whether Basis can do it?
Regards,
Prathap
Hi Prathap,
You can write a code in table maintenance events to restrict the number of Records added into the Table to constant.
Solution:
Se11 -> enter table name (TAB1) -> F6 -> Utlities -> Table maint. generator -> Envirnment -> modification -> events -> write here the form routine name.
Double click on routine name. You will get into include section of the code. Write here code like:
IF current_rec_num > 100.
messgae error 'Entry restriceted to 100'
ENDIF.
Somewhat this way you can achieve your target.

Sachin

How to upload the flat file records into internal table by position?
Hi
I have a flat file which has 7 records in each row and they are NOT provided with CSV or Tab demilited...
They are continous text without spaces....
but i know the fixed length of each field Eg : 1st field 7 char and seconc field 3 char and so on...
How can i upload this file into internal table by reading positions of each field...I know we can use GUI_UPLOAD and Read dataset and Open dataset...
But please let me know to read the file with the fixed postions and load into internal table...
Thanks in advance
MMHi
As per my knowledge i dont think thr is some function module or so to read with a fixed positions.
You can use the below method if you think this is the best way.
Suppose your file has
types : begin of ty_itab,
field1 type char7,
field2 type char3,
field3 type chat3,
field4 type char3,
end of ty_itab.
types : begin of ty_upload,
str type string,
end of ty_upload.
data : it_itab type standatd table of ty_itab,
it_upload type standard table ot ty_upload,
wa_itab type ty_itab,
wa_upload type ty_upload.
use gui_upload.get the data in it_upload.
here you know that u have first 16 charcters makes a first row n then next 16 charcters next row
Loop at it_upload into wa_upload.
v_len = strlen ( wa_upload ).
v_len = v_len / 16.
You get number of rows per record ,if it is decimal value make it final value if 3.9 make to 4.
do v_len times.
wa_itab = wa_upload.
By this only first 16 characters are moved and respective fields will get a value.or else u can use offset
wa_upload+0(16).
append wa_itab to it_itab.
Now shift 16 characters using shift command in wa_upload.
enddo.
endloop.
Hope this syntax help you to resolve your issue.May be something i have missed .Right now i don't have sap system to send you the full correct syntax code.
Cheers

I have a master table and i need to import the rows into the parent and child table.
Master table name is Flatfile_Inventory
Parent Table name is INVENTORY
Child Tables name are INVENTORY_AMOUNT,INVENTORY_DETAILS,INVENTORY_VEHICLE,
Error details will be goes to LOG_INVENTORY_ERROR
I have 4 duplicate rows in the Flatfile_Inventory which i have already inserted in the Parent and child table.
Again when i run the query using stored procedure,
its tells that all the 4 rows are duplicate and will move to the Log_Inventory_Error.
I need is if i have the duplicate rows in the flatfile_Inventory when i start inserting into the parent and child table the already inserted row have the unique ID i
must identify it and delete that row in the both parent and chlid table. And latest row must get inserted into the Parent and child table from Flatfile_Inventory.
Please help me to write the query i have attached the Full stored procedure Script..

How to speed insert my 1000000 records into the database?

time, but I have 1,000,000 record to insert , is there any way to
enhance the insertion speed?
Thanks a lot.By removing ColdFusion from the process as much as possible.
Where is the 'insertedDB' data coming from? It looks to be a
record set?
Are you moving data from one data source to another? If so,
some DBMS
have the ability to insert an entire record set in one step.
I do not
have the exact syntax at my finger tips, but I have done
something like
this in the past with Oracle. INSERT INTO aTable SELECT FROM
bTable.
Are you building a record set from a text file such as CSV?
If so, many
DBMS have the ability to do 'bulk' inserts from such text
files and CF
does not even need to be involved.
As you can see, knowing exactly what are you working with
will help us
provide suggestions an how to improve your process. -

How to calculate the number of records in Multiprovider
Hi Experts
I have created a report based on the multiprovider (Consist of Cube and ODS)
I need count the number of records inside the multiprovider, how can i do it in the reporting level
Regards
SantoshHi,
You can use calculated key figure with replacement path variable.
Follow This:
1) From the context menu of the Key Figure directory, choose New Calculated Key Figure.
2) From the context menu for the Formula Variable, choose New Variable.
3) Choose the Processing type as Replacement Path.
4) In the next screen, select the Characteristic Info Object based on which the number of documents is to be displayed in the report (For example: Document Number / Order Number).
5) Choose Next.
In the Replace Variable with drop down box, choose Attribute Value.
In the Attribute drop down, select Characteristic Reference (Constant 1).
6)Choose Next.
On the Save Variable page, an overview of the settings made for the variable will be displayed.
Confirm the entries and Choose Finish.
7) If the Formula variable is directly assigned to the Calculated Key Figure, a warning Calculated Key Figure is not defined correctly will be displayed while executing the Query.
8) Properties of Calculated Key Figure dialog box, assign a Technical name for the CKF.
9) set the Time of Calculation to After Aggregation.
Hope this will help you.
Cheers,
DK

Applescript - how can I count the number of records in a Word data source?
I have written a script in AppleScript to open Word and then perform a mail merge from a data source and everything is working fine.
One thing I want to do but am struggling with is to return the number of records in the mail merge.
I am trying things like:
get last record of datasource of mydatasource
and also haven't been able to find anything in the AppleScript 2004 Word Reference Guide.
Can anyone help as I have been searching the web and trying things all day and I am sure it can't be difficult.
Thank you.I don't think there is an automatic way to get a line count, but I don't have any problem just counting the lines on a page. Maybe some more information about what you are trying to do and why you can't do it would help someone to come up with a helpful suggestion.

Limit the number of records in result list cartridge
Hi experts
I want to use result list cartridge for displaying some products but also want to limit the returned results to some max records.
Is there any way i can limit the number of results in result list cartridge?
ThanksResults list has a 'recordsPerPage' property that will limit the number of records on the page.
Are you looking to limit it at some other place?

NUMBER OF RECORDS IN EACH TABLE???
Hi!
how can i find the number of records in each table in the database. the result should be like this
table_1 123
table_2 60
table_3 88
thanks!!
also if we want to see it only for a particular schema???You can get all the table names and schemas from ALL_TABLES table.
then you can stored that on a cursor,
then you can create a function where you use an execute_immediate to run the queries dinamically. with that you can run a COUNT for each TABLE
That's the idea give it a shot :)

Number of records in SETUP table
Hello
I am working with PO extractor. Is the number of records in XXXXXXSETUP table equal to the number of records setup?Hi if I understand the question the answer is no. For example I have recently carried out a setup run for Stock Initialisation MC03BX0SETUP.
The number of records in this table is just over 4000 and when I carry out an opening balance load to BW for the 2LIS_03_BX the number of records are just under 2million
The setup tables are cluster tables -
How do know the number of records ina cube for particular restriction
Hello all,
When you do right click on cube and display data then you have option to choose the fields. Lets say I restrict show me all the records for fiscal year "2006" then wgere can I see actually how many records there are of 2006.
ThanksHi Raj,
By using LISTCUBE you can put a check mark for Output Number of Hits:
If you do not select all fields in the field selection for output and have activated the database aggregation, several records may be collected together into a single record. If you select the option 'No. of Hitsoutput', an additional key figure is generated in the output table that specifies how many records the current record is made up of, that is, how many database records have been made into the output record.
You can also use this option to determine how many records there are in a particular selection condition in the InfoCube. Specify a selection condition, but do not select any characteristics or key figures. In the return list, you only get the column return with the number of hits and the number of entries that are relevant for this selection condition.
Hope this helps... -
Restrict the number of records to be fetched
Hello Gents,
The situation is like this, I have a report on Oracle reports 6i which fetches 2+ million records and it takes lot of time to generate,
I’m not sure whether it can be handled in discoverer because the report has some validation procedures (Program Unit) and triggers.
I want to restrict the number of records to be fetched in groups; I have gone through of Oracle online help
1. Group Filer: Filter fetches all records from database and displays only the number of records which is set to the property
2. Maximum Rows to Fetch: This property fetches only the number of records which is set to the property.
I want to fetches records incrementally; I don’t want to keep resources busy
Is there any property similar like Discoverer “Retrieve data incrementally in groups of” or any workaround?
Help or any advice is appreciatedIf you generate a pdf, it has to fetch all records for pdf.
If its in previewer: do you display total number of pages on the report?. If yes, >remove that and see how it comes. Other options are tunning queries and gather >the data into temp table before displaying it on the report. No, I'm generating a pdf
No, the report is not having display page no on it.
If I would have to create temp table, I would have used discoverer instead
Is there any property in reports to restrict the query to get the data in groups?
Any advice appreciated. -
How to find the number of records per months in cube
Hi,
how to find the number of records per months for my all cubes?
Can i use the ListCube transaction to find totl number f records per cube monthwise ?
JimmyHi,
Here is a program to generate no of records and list of ODS and Cubes in Active version.Schedule this program in background and create a cube to load this information and schedule to the data from the file generated by the program. Schedule this all per you requirement.
1.Copy the code into your Z<programname> from Se38.
2.change the FILENAME in CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_DOWNLOAD' in the program to the location from where you can pick the information to load data to cube(eg Application server).
3.Save program.
4.Schedule the program in background as required
5.Create cube with infoobjects to hold no of records and Infoprovider name
6.Load this cube based on event after the program job is done.
Hence you can report on this cube to see no of records in CUBE or ODS in your box.
Please find the code below.
