How to retain filter effects from photoshop
Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to retain filter effects in
an image in photoshop and import into flash.
(ie.Overlay, lighten, screen, etc.)
Is this possible and if so will it slow down the speed of the
swf. file by a massive amount?
Cheers
You can apply (most of) these same filters and blend modes to
any image using only Flash 8
or
You can save the file out of photoshop as a png, gif, or jpg
file. The filter effect will be "flattened" into the final image

How to get "Layer Mask Hides Effects" from Photoshop Plug-in
How to get "Layer Mask Hides Effects" from Photoshop Plug-in.
I don't think there's enough information here to give an answer. Is this a Plug-in that you're writing or intend to write? If so, what type of Plug-in is it?
If you are writing your own plug-in, the header files included in the Photoshop SDK/API have a bunch of defines for the proper codes to use.
PITerminology.h has a large amount of keys that can be used to query for information. PIUGetInfo is probably the function that you want to call to determine what you need to know.
If you're looking for information about a specific layer, you will want to make a new PIActionDescriptor, call sPSActionDescriptor->Make(*PIActionDescriptor), and then call GetLayerInfo on the layer that you're querying information about.
You can then call sPSActionDescriptor->Get<datatype> on the layer while passing in the key of the data that you want. -
How to create "Fisheye Effect" with Photoshop 10, on a Mac computer
How to create "Fisheye effect" with Photoshop 10 on a Mac computer?
One way : use the filter : correct camera distortion. Move the remove distortion slider towards left (barrel distortion)
Or, first increase the canvas size to a square format bigger than the larger dimension of the image and play with the filter : distort, spherize. -

Why am I getting a red and blue haze over my oil paint filter effect in photoshop cs6?
Why am I getting a red and blue haze over my oil paint filter effect in photoshop cs6? I am currently using a trial version.
The last time someone reported this problem with Oil paint, the fix was to go Preferences (Ctrl k) > Performance and set the cache levels to something other than '1'. If you cache levels were not previously set to 1 then we'll need to think again.

How to extract channels names from PhotoShop-written TIFFs?
Hi,
Does anybody know how to extract channel names from PhotoShop-written TIFFs? (I'm really asking about spot color channel names, as basic channel names, such as "Red," "Green," "Blue" or "Cyan," "Magenta," "Yellow," and "Black" can obviously be derived from the color space tag.)
There's some XMP data in those TIFFs, but manual inspection does not seem to reveal channel names. So, this may not be an XMP question, after all. There's also a larger (for metadata) data block associated with a private (Adobe) tag, which could contain the information. It's binary, though, and I wouldn't know how to crack it open.
The data must be present somewhere in the file, as PhotoShop will show the channel names on re-open of the TIFF.
There's a TIFF/IT TIFFTAG_INKNAMES tag, which PhotoShop doesn't utilize.
Any pointers greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

How to use imported paths from Photoshop/Illustrator as motion guides
Hi folks,
I've been raking the internet with no success for an answer to my question, but I've had no luck so far.
What I'm hoping to achieve animation wise is to have a shape move around a set path that was created in Photoshop. The reason being, it's a very specific shape (near enough a square but with curved corners and a chunk missing out of one of the sides), and I used the paths feature in Photoshop to create it and stroke the path for the smoothest possible effect. What I'd ideally like to do is import the same path I used to create the shape into Flash Professional CS6 and then use that same path to guide a small symbol around the edge of the square.
So far, I've worked out how to apply motion to a symbol through basic tweens, and then I can draw out a line using the pencil tool and apply that to the tween so it follows the pencil line instead of just going from point A to point B. The problem is, this looks awful...I'm not good enough with a mouse to create absolutely perfect shapes freehand, so I just want to be able to use the Photoshop path as my motion guide instead of having to make another one from scratch.
I've looked around for various importing methods, the most success I've had is exporting the paths to an Illustrator file, and then importing the Illustrator file into Flash directly. However, I have NO idea where these paths go when they're imported, or how to access them. If I import them to the stage, they seemingly disappear before I've even seen them, and if I import them to the library they just aren't there.
I could also do with a brief description of how paths work in Flash - I'm familiar with the Photoshop layout, what with the paths appearing in a panel next to the layers one (makes perfect sense to me, as you can just switch between the two panels to view whatever you want). I just don't understand how they work in Flash and what I should be looking for....
Many thanks in advance for any help!
ToddI had a play around with some variations of this. What I can't grasp is why Flash won't recognise my shape layer as a motion path. I've tried breaking it down, that doesn't work... I traced it narrowly in Photoshop and imported it as a thin line with a gap (so essentially a line with two ends), and it comes into Flash as a bitmap or something of that sort. I found an option that traces the bitmap, and appears to convert it into a shape layer...I've managed to find the optimal settings so the line is joined all the way through apart from the start and end points. The only thing is, Flash seems to not even notice this as a guide layer when I apply it to the symbol I'm trying to animate. It just doesn't even notice it's there. The object moves straight from point A to point B in a straight line, the guide layer does nothing to adjust the motion... Is it not possible for the traced line to act as a motion guide? It's a shape, it is a single line with a start point and an end point, and there are no other instances of anything else in the layer - just the line and nothing else.
This seems way more difficult than it should be...I'm sure Adobe could have integrated a MUCH easier system for importing paths from Photoshop that actually exist in Flash rather than disappearing into some abyss instead!
Here is a screenshot of what I'm working with: http://gyazo.com/4c1046767e1ee8bf99f65751b9ba81b8
The long black oval is the shape I'm trying to animate. I've tried applying tweens to it while it's in shape form and while it's in every different symbol form, all to no avail.
The black line is what I'm trying to use as the guide. Having looked online, people seem to be able to just use the "paste in place" option and it somehow knows exactly what they mean and animates around the line perfectly. I tried that and it didn't work (no surprise there), and then I tried the motion guide layer setup and it also didn't work. I'm not sure if tracing a bitmap into a shape layer somehow removes any possibility of the line being recognisable as a line or something...could that be the case?
Is there a simple way to turn a shape layer (in this case the black line) into a motion guide that I'm missing? I thought just turning the layer into a guide layer would do the trick, but obviously not :/ -
How to make color consistent from Photoshop 5 to Photoshop 6?
Hi, I recently upgraded from photoshop 5 to photoshop 6, and the colors printing out so differently.
In phothsop 5, the color management setting was on Photoshop Manages color, Adobe RGB (1998) and Relative Colorimetric.
But on 6, Adobe RGB (1998) under Printer Profile is missing. How can I set up the color management so the colors print out consistent?
Thank you. What printer? What profiles? What system? Sorry, but your post is not particularly useful. You have to be much more specific.

How to insert cropped images from photoshop without the white background
Basically all I want to do is take a peice of writing from a video and insert it into another video. To do this I've took a screenshot of the font from the video and imported it into photoshop. I've then cropped/cut/took the the peice of writing I want, letter by letter. I want to be able to insert it into another video, but whenever I attempt to do it, I have the default white background of photoshop. Is there anyway to insert an image from photoshop, without taking the background with it, or even insert a layer from photoshop straight into final cut pro? Sorry if this is confusing.
I don't think so. I cropped the letters, put them each an individual file, removed the background, saved them as a TIF then tried to import them onto Final Cut Pro, but a white background still appeared in the TIF file. Basically I just want to make the background transparent I believe.

Can someone please tell me how to save an image from Photoshop CS4 as a RTL file?
I recently bought a VuTek Printer and I have to have a RTL file that is from Photoshop, does this have anything to do with PostScript?
Are you sure about that .RTL file extension?
All that I can find (quick search on Google), indicates that it is a Borland (software) RunTime Library file, in a TXT format.
Are there any details in the printer's manual about what it needs, with an explanation of the .RTL format?
Good luck,

How to sync an Album from Photoshop Elements 9 to an IPad?
I have editd lots of pictures in Photoshop Elements 9 and put them into an album in a particular order. Is there a way to sync the album from Photoshop to an IPad without losing the sequence in which I have arranged the photos? So far they come up in some sort of date order which is not what I want. Transferring the pictures into iPhoto and then rearranging them would be too much of a task as there are hundreds of them.
Anybody out there with a bright idea?
Thanks
ZigIf you are referring to a music album that you've purchased from iTunes then you can only transfer all purchases over to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, you can't just copy a single album

Gurpreet ChauhanPlease define "editable"? Do you mean "fillable", so that a person can easily type in the blanks? That doesn't seem the right job for Photoshop.

How to remove flicker effect from screens / projections?
Hey,
I wondered if there's an option within Premiere Pro CC ( or AE) to remove flicker effects from screens and projections. I attached a jpg as an example of such a projection. Here is an anti flicker option in Premiere Pro, but it doesn't seem to have an effect on my problem.
CheersYou need to shoot scenes like that using a camera that allows Synchro-Scan, which can adjust the cameras scanning rate to that of the display in the shot. Any mismatch between camera and siaplay is what causes the flicker, and Synchro-Scan is the only way to correct it without entirely removing the screen from teh shot and replacing it with another, usually via After Effects.
