How to return the rank compared to other cells in Numbers

Hi All,
I am working on a spreadsheet that provides a seasonal average for a set of canvassers. I would then like to add a column which returns their ranking compared to the others. For instance:

Hi Kozguy,
Let's start with the Averages column:
Assuming the names are listed in column A, and that there are no hidden columns, Average is column G (ie. not column '7')
The formula for Joe's average should be =AVERAGE(B2:F2).
Filled down, that will also give the correct formulas for Tom's and Ellen's averages.
Rank is calculated in column H, using the RANK function.

To be able to do this, the script needs to know on which task flow a user has clicked. So, I am looking for a function or statement which returns the name (or ID) of the task flow. Based on this name (or ID) a conditional statement can be performed in which a variable is dynamically filled. This variable can then be parsed as a parameter to my generic script.

The Generic script contains 600+ records, which I would like to maintain once, when having multiple Task Flows for Import, UpToValidate, ValidateOnly, UpToExport, ExportOnly etc.

Hold down the 'ctrl' key and scroll backwards on the mouse.
Then go to System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing. Turn off the Zoom feature.
Similarly in Sys Pref > Mouse uncheck the box for 'Zoom using scroll wheel…'
If it still occurs after that there may be a corrupt .plist file.

When I use the drop down menu under Inspector, and set the preferences I want, a blue line shows up in the appropriate cell or cells to which I want to apply a border. When I close the menu, the blue line goes away and there is no border.

I'm sorry for the intrusion on this thread. I had only made a simple comment, and then others responded. It was not my intention, especially since the original question was marked as answered. I will direct responses to any comments I make in fture postings that deviate from the OP's question to a newly created topic if I need a response, if not, I will just add a statement at the end of my comments to please not respond.
As to your diagram, it is the ability to select the non-contiguous cells, and then be able to simulataneously select a specific part of the border edge, and then be able to change them all at once that I was after. That is something that is not possible in Numbers. It seems that in your diagram the "before", was attained by selecting each cell one at a time, and changing its border edge, one at a time. Then, in the "after", selecting the non-contiguous cells and changing the "Stroke" settings for the lines was attained simultaneously since that is possible in Numbers.
If I am correct in how you attained the results in your diagram, that wasn't really what I was trying to achieve, since if the option were not grayed out, it would only select the same border edge on all selected cells. If I am incorrect, then I would like to have your input.

Question about cursors in a function and how to return the results

I'm using Oracle 11G database and APEX 4.0.2.00.06
I use three cursors in a function. My function is called in an APEX standard report, like this by example:
SELECT fnc_exp(tab.arg1, tab,arg2) FROM table_exp tab;
My question is: how can I return the values calculated from my function to a standard APEX report? Before, this function was used like this by Oracle Forms to fetch the cursors in the right table columns:
open c_a;
fetch c_a into :loc.arg1;
close c_a;
open c_b;
fetch c_b into :loc.arg2, :loc.arg3, :loc.arg4, :loc.arg5;
close c_b;

I don't think you can do exactly like that in APEX.
Go for a pipelined function if you want the value be returned from the function.

I am having some problems with an sql query and I hope someone can help please?
The data I am using is customers with multiple transactions. If a customer contains one transaction where the transaction type = 'W' then I need to set the output value to be transaction.ValueA. If the customer does not contain any transactions where the transaction type is 'W' then I need to set the output value to be
the most recent transaction.ValueB where transaction.transaction_date <= customer.cust_mod_date.

How to return the newly generated sequence id for an INSERT statement

A record is to be inserted into a table with a sequence for the primary key. The newly inserted sequence value is to returned on successful insertion. Is it possible to do all this in a single statement (say executeUpdate or any other) using java.sql.* ?
E.g.: - A student record is to be inserted into the STUDENT table. There is a sequence (by name Student_ID_SEQ) on the primary key Student_ID. Student_ID_SEQ.nextval will generate the new sequence id which will be provided as input to the SQL statement (say statement.executeUpdate) along with other student attribute values. On insertion the created sequence id should be returned. And all this should happen in a single statement (single call to database). Stored Procedures can accomplish this. But is this feasible without the use of Stored Procedures?

a better aproach is to generate the auto key on the
database side, not on the application side.That's his problem - since the database is supplying the key for the new record his application which executed the SQL has no way to identify the record that was just added. I just create the key on the app server and accept the likelihood of overlap (which is extremely small).
Here is a more technical explanation:

   Name,
   Phone Number,

}The field ID is an autonumber, and all other fields are not unique.

but union will not work because the result sets datatypes are not identical so how to go about this ?

You have to CAST or CONVERT (or implicitly convert) the columns to the same datatype. You must find a datatype that both columns can be converted to without error. In your example I'm guessing id is an int and name is a varchar or nvarchar.
Since you didn't convert the datatypes, SQL will use its data precedence rules and attempt to convert name to an int. If any row contains a row that has a value in name that cannot be converted to an int, you will get an error. The solution is
to force SQL to convert the int to varchar. So you want something like
select cast(id as varchar(12)) from tableA
union
select name from tableb
If the datatypes are something other that int or varchar, you must find a compatable datatype and then convert one (or both) of the columns to that datatype.
