How to return the correct row of data using diffferent conditions?

I am having some problems with an sql query and I hope someone can help please?
The data I am using is customers with multiple transactions. If a customer contains one transaction where the transaction type = 'W' then I need to set the output value to be transaction.ValueA. If the customer does not contain any transactions where the transaction type is 'W' then I need to set the output value to be
the most recent transaction.ValueB where transaction.transaction_date <= customer.cust_mod_date.
Here is an example of the data. For each test customer 10 and 20 I have put a star against the value I want to return
CUSTOMER_ID CUST_MOD_DATE TX_DATE      TX_TYPE TX_VALUEA TX_VALUEB
10          15/07/2009 16/07/2009     A     110      95
10          15/07/2009 14/07/2009     A     100      90(*)
10          15/07/2009 13/07/2009     A     90          10
10          15/07/2009 12/07/2009     A     80          5
20          15/07/2009 15/07/2009     A     60          10
20          15/07/2009 14/07/2009     W     50(*)     20
20          15/07/2009 13/07/2009     A     40          30
ie
CREATE TABLE
TMP_CUSTOMER (CUSTOMER_ID NUMBER, CUST_MOD_DATE DATE);
insert into tmp_customer
values(10, to_date('15/07/2009','dd/mm/yyyy'));
insert into tmp_customer

INSERT INTO TMP_TRANSACTION

The query I have so far is
(SELECT CUSTOMER_ID, CUST_MOD_DATE, TX_DATE, TYPE_FLAG, TX_VALUEA, TX_VALUEB, RN
FROM (SELECT CUST.CUSTOMER_ID, CUST.CUST_MOD_DATE,TRANS.TX_DATE, TRANS.TYPE_FLAG, TRANS.TX_VALUEA,TRANS.TX_VALUEB,

WHEN NVL(TX.TX_TYPE,'0') = 'W' THEN 'Y'
ELSE 'N'
END AS TYPE_FLAG
FROM TMP_TRANSACTION TX, TMP_CUSTOMER CUST
WHERE TX.CUSTOMER_ID = CUST.CUSTOMER_ID
AND CUST.CUSTOMER_ID in
'10','20'
) TRANS
WHERE CUST.CUSTOMER_ID = TRANS.CUSTOMER_ID
--AND   TRANS.TX_DATE <= CUST.CUST_MOD_DATE
AND CUST.CUSTOMER_ID in
('10','20'
Can anyone please help with how I extract the record I am looking for
ie customer 10 has amount 90
customer 20 has amount 50.
Thanks :-)

  • How to return the entire row from a table

    Hi guys,
    Tabl A
    FirstName varchar2(10),
    Age Number,
    Add varchar2(100),
    Table B
    Filedname varchar2(200), -- contains all the fields of table A
    Datatype varchar2(100), -- Contains the datatypes of the filedname
    Length Number -- contains the length of the fileds
    Now how can i return the entire row from table A with the datatype and its length.
    Any help would be appreciated ?
    Here is the query I wrote but it how to take the datatype and its length..
    create or replace procedure disp_table_data
    as
    type r_cursor is REF CURSOR;
    c_A r_cursor;
    er A%rowtype;
    begin
    open c_A for select * from A;
    loop
    fetch c_A into er;
    exit when c_A%notfound;
    dbms_output.put_line(er.FirstName||'--'||er.Age);
    end loop;
    close c_A;
    END;

    Guys,
    I want column value from table A and its corresponding data_type and length from table B. I think I cant do it through joins.
    Any idea would be appreciated ?.
    Example ..
    Tabl A
    FirstName varchar2(10),
    Age Number,
    Add varchar2(100)
    insert into A values('John',24,'Boston');
    Table B
    Filedname varchar2(200), -- contains all the fields of table A
    Datatype varchar2(100), -- Contains the datatypes of the filedname
    Length Number -- contains the length of the fileds
    insert into B values('FirstName','varchar2',10); -- this is coming from table A.
    Output should be like this...
    John,Varchar2,10
    Here (John is the FirstName - coming from table A, Varchar2 is a Datatype and 10 is the Length which are coming from table B ). Only column values are coming from table A , corresponding datatype and length are coming from B.
    Any idea would be appreciated ?
    Thanks.

  • How to return only 1 row of data

    Hi,
    My problem if the table looks similar to the 1 below.
    ID pay_cycle pymnt_dt
    1 PAY 12/01/2006
    1 EX 12/05/2006
    2 PAY 12/08/2006
    If the ID (such as ID 1) has a pay cycle of EX, I only want to get its payment date. I don't want it to return any other rows. However if the ID has no pay_cycle of EX (such as ID 2) I want it to return the pymnt_dt of PAY. Is this possible through SQL? I am planning to place the SQL on a table view.

  • How to fetch the correct netprice based on contract item conditions

    Hi,
    When you display a contract using ME33K and you click on a item and view its conditions(shift+F6), there might be 2 validity periods for a given item.
    and each period will have different netprice in it.
    Let me describe the same.
    Suppose the PO creation date is 04.07.2007
    The conditions for an item in a contract for the PO are as follows;
    1. Validity from 04.07.2007 validity to 04.07.2007 Netprice = 100.00
    2. Validity from 05.07.2007 validity to 31.12.9999 Netprice = 200.00
    We need to always fetch the net price from the validity period which always matches with the PO creation date. here the value 100.00 should be the correct netpr as the PO creation date matches with the first validity period.
    But the program is fetching the netprice 200.000 which belongs to the second validity period. That is because the select statement which fetches the data for contracts collects on the basis of EKKO-kdate and ekko-kdtab.The fields kdate and kdtab retrieves the validity period of the contract which is from 04.07.2007 to 31.072007. This data is then used to retrieve the netpr data from EKPO and it fetched 200.00 as it retrieves the net price of current data in contract validity and not with respect to PO creation date.
    This data is then used to fetch the get the netpr data from EKPO.
    what we need is the netprice for that validity period of item(Conditions) that matches with the PO creation date..
    Now I have the internal table which is having data retrieved from Ekko and EKPO table.
    Now how do I retrive the correct price by using the condition tables KONV and KONP.
    Can you pls give the code snippet..
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Please get the valid condition ( based on date ) from A016 (MK & LPA). With the appropriate KNUMH read the Condition header. You can access the different condition items viz., PB00, RA00 etc., for the values from table KONP. Further if you have Value scales / Quantity scales, you can read the data from KONM, KONW.
    An additional tips: in KONP, if you have a condition like RA00 - Rebate, the value will be multiplied by 10 and saven in database to accomodate the discount to the third decimal.
    I could not completely understand your requirements like nature of development ( Is it a Report / SAP Script ??) you are working etc., so that I could help you precisely.
    Hope this helps,
    Best Regards, Murugesh AS

  • Return the end of week date using month and week number

    Hi all,
    I am trying to find the date for end of the week using given month (201401, 201402...i.e, 2014 is year and 01,02 are months) and week number (01,02,03...) for the year. For example if my month is 201402 and week_number is 06 then it return the week_date
    as 2014-02-08. Can you please help me in writing a sql statement for this scenario.
    Thanks in advance,
    Nikhil

    Current month is irrelevant
    with dt as (
       select dateadd(day, (6-1)*7, '2014-01-01') as xwk
    select dateadd(day, 7-datepart(weekday, dt.xwk), xwk)
    from dt;
    Change the "6" in the with statement to the week of interest and 2014 to the year of interest...

  • How can I get Numbers to return the first row in a group of VLOOKUP query results instead of last one?

    I'm trying to query from one table (call it Table1) a batch of rows in another table (Table2) using VLOOKUP on a date specified in the first table (Table1). My problem is it's returning the last incident in Table2 of the requested date instead of the first incident. This really breaks the OFFSET scheme I'd like to use to collect the rest of the items for that date. Is there some way to compel VLOOKUP to return the first row of query results, not the last?
    NOTE: I see I've asked this before, but forgot to go back and look at responses given. It's been a while and I've limped along until now with the way things were. I'm actually trying to delete this questions, so if you see it, ignore it. I suppose if someone can tell me real quick how to delete a stupid question, that might be helpful.

  • How to retrieve the multiple rows data on PDF form in a web service method using WSDL DataConnection

    How to retrieve the multiple rows data on PDF form in a web service method using WSDL DataConnection.
    I have a multiple rows on PDF form. All rows have 4 textfields. I want to submit the multiple rows data to a method defiened in webservice.
    Unable to retrieve the data in multiple rows within webservice method.

    Hi Paul,
    I'm now able to save the retrieved xml in a hidden text field and create dynamic table, and I'm able to fill this table from the XML, but the problem is that I could not find the correct way to loop on the xml, what I'm trying to say, the table will have number of rows with the data of the first row only, so can you tell me the right way to loop on the xml!
    this is my code
    TextField1.rawValue=xmlData.document.rawValue;
    xfa.datasets.data.loadXML(TextField1.rawValue, true, false);
    for(var i=0; i<count; i++)
    xfa.form.resolveNode("form1.P1.Table1.Row1["+i+"].Num").rawValue = xfa.datasets.data.record.num.value;
    xfa.form.resolveNode("form1.P1.Table1.Row1["+i+"].Name").rawValue = xfa.datasets.data.record.name.value;
    Table1.Row1.instanceManager.addInstance(true);
    Thanks

  • TABLE(CAST()) function not returning the correct results in few scenarios.

    I am using TABLE(CAST()) operation in PL/SQL and it is returning me no data.
    Here is what I have done:
    1.     Created Record type
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE target_rec AS OBJECT
    target__id          NUMBER(10),
    target_entity_id NUMBER(10),
    dd           CHAR(3),
    fd           CHAR(3),
    code      NUMBER(10),
    target_pct      NUMBER,
    template_nm VARCHAR2(50),
    p_symbol      VARCHAR2(10),
    pm_init          VARCHAR2(3),
    target_name     VARCHAR2(20),
    targe_type     VARCHAR2(30),
    target_caption     VARCHAR2(30),
    sort_order      NUMBER (4)
    2.     Created Table type
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE target_arr AS TABLE OF target_rec
    3.     Created Stored procedure which accepts parameter of type target_arr and runs the Table(Cast()) function on it.
         Following is the simplified form of my procedure.
         PROCEDURE get_target_weights
         p_in_template_target IN target_arr,
         p_out_count          OUT NUMBER,
         IS
         BEGIN
              SELECT count(*) into p_out_count
         FROM TABLE(CAST(p_in_template_target AS                     target_arr)) arr;
         END;
    I am calling get_target_weights from my java code and passing p_in_template_target with 10140 records.
    Scenario 1: If target_pct in the last record is 0, p_out_count returned from the procedure is 0.
    Scenario 2: If target_pct in the last record is any other value(say 0.01), p_out_count returned from the procedure is 10140.
    Please help me understand why the Table(Cast()) is not returning the correct results in Scenario 1. Also adding or deleting any record from the test data returns the correct results (i.e. if keep target_pct in the last record as 0 but add or delete any record).
    Let me know how can I attach the test data I am using to help you debugging as I don’t see any Attach file button on Post Message screen on the forum.

    I am not able to reproduce this problem with a small data set. I can only reproduce with the data having 10140 records.
    I am not sure if this is the memory issue as adding a new record also solves the problem.
    This should not be the error because of wrong way of filling the records in java as for testing purpose I just saved the records which I am sending from java in a table. I updated the stored procedure as well to read the data from the table and then perform TABLE(CAST()) operation. I am still getting 0 as the output for scenario 1 mentioned in my last mail.
    Here is what I have updated:
    1.     Created the table target_table
    CREATE Table target_table
    target_id          NUMBER(10),
    target_entity_id NUMBER(10),
    dd           CHAR(3),
    fd           CHAR(3),
    code      NUMBER(10),
    target_pct      NUMBER,
    template_nm VARCHAR2(50),
    p_symbol      VARCHAR2(10),
    pm_init          VARCHAR2(3),
    target_name     VARCHAR2(20),
    target_type     VARCHAR2(30),
    target_caption     VARCHAR2(30),
    sort_order      NUMBER (4)
    2.     Inserted data into the table : The script has around 10140 rows. Pls let me know how can I send it to you
    3.     Updated procedure to read data from table and stored into variable of type target_arr. Run Table(cast()) operation on target_arr and get the count

    I dont know what table names and fields you have but
    say you have a table called XYZ which has a primary
    key field called keyID.
    So in order to get the last row inserted, you could
    do something like
    Select *
    from XYZ
    where keyID = (Select MAX(keyID) from XYZ);
    Good Luckwhat gubloo said is correct ...But this is all in MS SQL Server I don't know the syntax and key words in MYSQL
    This works fine if the emp_id is incremental and of type integer
    Query:
    select      *
    from      employee e,  (select max(emp_id) as emp_id from employee) z
    where      e.emp_id = z.emp_id
    or
    select top 1 * from employee order by emp_id descUday

  • Master Child tables how to get the latest rows from both

    Hi,
    Need some help with the sql. I have two tables Master & Child. In my Master table I have multiple rows for the same record and in the child table also multiple rows for the same master row how can I get the latest one's from both.
    For example Data in my Master table looks like
    CONT_ID                  SEQ_NUM        DESCRIPTION
    1                         189             Update 2
    1                         188             Update 1
    1                         187              NewNow in the child table for the same CONT_ID I may have the following rows
    CONT_ID                   UPDATED_DATE                                     STATUS
    1                        3/16/2010 2:19:01.552700 PM                          P
    1                        3/16/2010 12:29:01.552700 PM                         A
    1                        3/16/2010 12:29:01.552700 PM                         P
    1                        3/16/2010 12:19:01.552700 PM                         NIn my final query how can I get the row with seq_num 189 as it's the latest in Master table and from child table the row with status of P as it's the latest one based on the time. Here is the query i have but it returns the latest row from the child table only and basically repeats the master table rows as opposed to one row that is latest from both:
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You can use the analytic ROW_NUMKBER function to find the latest row for each cont_id in each table:
    WITH     got_m_rnum     AS
         SELECT     cont_id,     seq_num,     description
         ,     ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY  cont_id
                                   ORDER BY          seq_num     DESC
                           ) AS m_rnum
         FROM    master_table
    --     WHERE     ...     -- any filtering goes here
    ,     got_c_rnum     AS
         SELECT     cont_id, updated_date,     status
         ,     ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY  cont_id
                                   ORDER BY          updated_date     DESC
                           ) AS c_rnum
         FROM    child_table
    --     WHERE     ...     -- any filtering goes here
    SELECT     m.cont_id,     m.seq_num,     m.description
    ,     c.updated_date,     c.status
    FROM     got_m_rnum     m
    JOIN     got_c_rnum     c     ON     m.cont_id     = c.cont_id
                        AND     m.m_rnum     = c.c_rnum
                        AND     m.m_rnum     = 1
    ;If you'd like to post CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements for the sample data, then I could test this.
    If there happens to be a tie for the latest row (say, there are only two rows in the child_table with a certain cont_id, and both have exactly the same updated_date), then this query will arbitrarily choose one of them as the latest.

  • Check box als column in a standard table, how to get the selected row

    Dear experts,
    I habe standard tablt with check box as column. Now I want to get the current selected row structure and do some changes. How could I solve this problem? till now I just know to get the structure via lead selection.
    lo_node->get_element().
    lo_element = lo_node->get_static_attributes ( static_attributes = ls_row).
    How could I get the element through check-box in stead of lead selection. Many thanks!

    check this code
    To get the selected row number
    data: lr_element type ref to if_wd_context_element,
              lv_index type i.
      lr_element = wdevent->get_context_element( name = 'CONTEXT_ELEMENT'  ).
      lv_index = lr_element->get_index( ).
    Thanks

    Any ideas on what would cause this NOT to work? I added this row right after the table is created and populated and it is still not highlighted when I enter the form. The snippet of code that does this is:
    MyTableModel modelS = (MyTableModel)dataModel.get("S");
    jTable1 = new JTable(modelS);
    jTable1.setRowSelectionInterval(0,0);MyTableModel is this:
    class MyTableModel extends DefaultTableModel {
      public MyTableModel(Object[] columnNames, int numRows) {
        super(columnNames, numRows);
      public boolean isCellEditable(int row, int column) {
        if (TableKey == 'S') {
          if (column == 6) {
            return false;
        if (TableKey == 'O') {
          if (column == 0 || column == 4 || column == 5) {
            return false;
        if (TableKey == 'P') {
          return false;
      return true;
    }Can anyone help? Thanks.
