You have to install the Forms Runtime and SQL*Net on every
Client that wants to use your forms.
But you can use Forms Server + a Web Server to access your
application via a web-browser (Netscape 4.5). Then the only
thing the the clients need is that browser...

How to start to use Oracle client to access Database ?
Folks,
Hello. I have just installed Oracle Client into directory /home/myOracle/Oracle_Client. But I don't know how to start and configure the client to access Oracle Database.
Can any folk tell me how to start to use Oracle client to access Database ?user13764998 wrote:
I have earlier managed to install the Oracle Client (32-bit) in 32-bit clients and servers Oracle Client 10.
The reason that it went well before was the exellent setup and configurationprograms we got with that version. It seems you are confusing the "full" Datbase Client with Instant Client.
Now I'm trying to install the Oracle Instant Client 11g R2 both 32-bit and 64 (of the latest revision) on a 64-bit Windows 2008 Server .
I have managed to install the driver but the setup doesn't give me any Net Configuration Assistant or Net Manager to help with the configuration. What setup? Are you not using just the zip files?
What are you installing exactly, i.e. what install media (file) did you download?
So I haven't succeded in configuring it despite I I read the readme-info that comes with the Instant Client files. There's not much to configure - that's sort of the point of Instant Client. Just drop a few files in a folder, set PATH and off you go.
Doesn't <instant client dir>\sqlplus user@'hostname/servicename' work? -
Oracle Dot Net Connectivity without oracle client

I think is not possible. See if these links below help you:

How do I check the oracle client version?
Hi All,
How do I check the oracle client version installed from the OS level. I do know my database version I need to check which client is being used. Is there a table where this information is stored.
Thanks
Shabnadisp+work.exe -V will tell you which OCI version was used during compiling and linking.
Oracle uses release independent DLL Names (Unix people would say Shared Libraries) and therefore the SAP Kernel will dynamically load any Oracle Client Version found in the standard DLL Load Path during startup.
If you have more versions installed on your computer and you are not shure which one is loaded you can use Process Explorer (freeware, see www.sysinternals.com) to find out which one is loaded. If they belong to an Oracle_home (up to release 9.2) refere to Oracle Universal Installers Inventory information in order to find out which exact version is used.
If an Oracle10 Instant Client is used, there is no corresponding Oracle_Home. In this case you can use Windows Explorer (right click on the DLL -for example oci.dll), select properties, the Version Tab and File Version).
But unfortunately Oracle is not updating the File Version every time they are patching something.
An SAP ABAP Server Integrated Resource is the version information disp+work.exe -V is listing (evquivalent to SM51 - Release Information).
<b>Datenbank Client Library : OCI_10201_SHARE (10.2.0.2.0)</b>
OCI_10201_SHARE is telling us the compile/link environment, the number in brackets (only available starting with Oracle10) tells us the the result of an Oracle Client GetVersion call. Unfortunately this one does also not reflect the installed Minipatch version up to now.
Here are some results on 10.2.0.2 Windows X86_64:
SM51: Datenbank Client Library : OCI_10201_SHARE (10.2.0.2.0)
Explorer (OCI.DLL located in the same directory as disp+work.exe):
10.2.0.2.0 Patch2
Explorer (oraociicus10.dll - the instant client implementation, this version is the one actual since mini patch 10.2.0.2.5 and it was definitely changed in 10.2.0.2.5):
OraOCIICUS10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0
oracore10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oranls10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
orasnls10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oraunls10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oravsn10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oracommon10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Patch1
orageneric10.dll - 10.2.0.2.0 Patch2
oraclient10.dll - 10.2.0.2.0 Patch2
orapls10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Patch1
orasql10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oraxml10.dll - 10.1.0.2.0
orahasgen10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oraocrutl10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oraocr10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oraocrb10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oranbeq10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
orantcp10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oracommon10.dll from the rdbms server does report 10.2.0.2.0 Patch5 at the same time. compare it with the version information of oracommon10.dll included in oraociicus10.dll. Both patches are included in the same patchset (10.2.0.2.5).
there are two possible conclusions about this:
1. the version infomation is not very reliable.
2. the Oracle Patch and Build environment is not very reliable

Hi,i have used Oracle 8.1.6 database and Forms6i before and i installed form server and Webdb listener( i configured listener for WebDb and form server), it was worked fine. i downloaded O9iDS release 2 (9.0.2) from otn.oracle.com. then i installed it on new machine(OS:Win XP Pro) with Complete options . it was okey. when i go to run form in the Forms developer, it run with with web bowser using servlet. Why ? how can i run a form like form6i without browser.it is possible ? i have to run with servlet?. i don't want to use servlet now. Another problem ; i can not run fmx files out of Forms Developer.Where is the ifrun90.exe for fmx file i did't find and how can i install only runtime files like Forms 6i, just execute fmx file on user machines ?
Later i want to configure listener servlet. before (6i) Forms server and Webdb listener run as process and i configured it (e.g. wdbsvr.cfg) which file used instead of wdbsvr.cfg ?...thanks very much for your help..Hi,
Forms9i no longer supports client/server, whcih means that Web is the only option you have. To learn more about teh configuration of Oracle9i Forms, please read the Whitepapers available at otn.oracle.com/products/forms

How to run report without report server
hi
my question : how i can run report without using the report server; by simple URL to the report stored in directory and accessing by HTTPserver; and the report is running by the local client runtime.
thinks for replayhello,
what you could try, is to associate the RDF/REP extension with a mimetype (e.g. application/oracle.reports) on the server and then add this mimetype to the browser applications associated with the reports runtime executable.

How to run a datagram socket client and server program
hi,
I am new to socket programming. I am following the tutorial of sun for socket programming...The link is
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/networking/datagrams/clientServer.html
I have understood the concept, but the problem is i cannot run the program. I am using netbeans and i have created a package and stored the files QuoteServer,QuoteServerThread, QuoteClient in this package. How can i make the server program run first and then client program in netbeans
kindly help me
ThankyouI think you are trying to run both server and client
on one machine!!!
It is impossible, your server is blocking the port to
send packets, so you must run client on another
computer!!!It's not impossible to run a client and server on the same machine just for testing or as a demo. Just have the server listen on one port and the client use a different port.
No need to use 2 seperate computers. I've done it one computer before without a problem.

Connect to Oracle without Oracle Client in Windows?
Hi All,
Is there anyway to connect to Oracle DB without any installation of Oracle Product in Client?
I am using MS ODBC Driver Oracle but It need the "Data Source Name"
It seems that client machine do need to Setup the NET 8 Configure / Tnsname.ora
I can try to set any thing in Oracle Server, But want to minimize the effort doing on the client (Because there are many!).
I am using Visual Basic, WIN XP as client Platform. WIN 2K as Oracle DB Server.
Can anybody give me a hand. Thank you very much!
Eric YuenYou'll need to install Oracle Client in the client machine. ODBC (or other) connections need OCI and Oracle Net layers.
The Oracle ODBC has a lot of dependencies, probably a thousand files. Unfortunately Client is pretty heavy... managewize also. So that's why you should develop "internet apps". :) -
How to run a Java EE client application ?
Greetings,
I have a Java EE Application Project created with Eclipse (OEPE) and I don't know how to run it ? I asked the question on the OEPE forum but didn't manage to have any pertinent answer. I have also looked at Developing Java EE Application Clients (Thin Clients) in the Programming Stand-alone Clients book and tried to use commands as weblogic.clientDeployer and weblogic.j2eeclient.Main but haven't been able to get them working. And anyway, they are not done to be used in Eclipse as I didn't find any ant tasks for them.
Many thanks in advance for any help.

Running OWB without Oracle Workflow?
Hi,
I have developed a simple mapping that joins few tables into one.
Is it possible to run the mapping in runtime environment without installing the Oracle Workflow?Hi,
Yes. You can run a mapping from Deployment Manager without Oracle Workflow.
Oracle Work flow is an optional one, and is only required if you have designed process flows to determine the dependency among the mappings.
good luck

How to run VI without the DAQ card connected to the labtop
This may be a silly question but I want to have the answer and couldn't find the answer for spending time in searching in the web.
I want to run the VI that controls the intruments in my labtop. The VI was run in a destop that has a DAQ card in the PC (a PCI card). I know it is possible to run it without errors (without a DAQ card) in my labtop . Anyone knows how to do it? I used labview 7.1. Thanks,
JunIf you are using DAQmx and if the DAQ card is supported, you can add a simulated device in MAX.
