Now we have got new(virtual Instrumentation) lab. when we purchased NI speedy 33 we have got only installation guide with the h/w. we want to run speedy33 with core s/w(LabVIEW8.5.1). This forum is a predominently user supported one, although National Instruments monitors it and supports questions when they can, but it isn't an "official" communications pathway to National Instruments. To find a copy of LP7 you would need to look for a copy on eBay.. However, the protection method used with LP7 no longer functions so you cannot register it and therefore you cannot use it. unless you have already registered LP7 yourself in the past using the security key dongle provided
Any version of LP7 from a torrent would be an illegal (and most likely non working) version due to the protection that was used at that time... and so posting about it here, was not be wise.
So.. thats why my previous answer was so brief... Simply put, you cannot use LP7 unless you already have a validated and registered security dongle... even if you found a copy of LP7 somewhere
The only practical solution is to find some kind soul who already has a working version of LP7 installed, that you can send the projects to... for them to do the conversion for you.
I would, but I no longer have LP7 installed here on any of my testbed Macs...

This may be because I have downloaded the JRE 1.7Yep, that's correct, the java_home command only works for jdk's - sorry for the confusion.
For jre7+ versions, only a single Oracle jre version is allowed to be installed on the machine at a time - making a tool like java_home redundant for jre checking.
Weirdly, jre7u10 does not supplant the Apple Java on the command line path by default. If you just type java -v, then the Apple java version will displayed if you have an old Java 6 from Apple and a new Oracle jre7+.
The Oracle jre is always located under (also somewhat strangely):
/Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/javaTo test jar launching, I used the willow JavaFX browser pre-release jar available here:

Macs newer than 10.7's release just need to boot with the 'D' key.
Otherwise you need to find the original installer disk of the Mac, or call AppleCare for it to be able to run the hardware diagnostic.

Thank you for contacting National Instruments. Ssk's suggestion of a starting point is a good place to begin. Many of our DAQ cards can handle -10 to 10V analog signals, however you may also have digital signals as well. Some places to look for how connect everything together are listed below:

Install labview 6.1 (or compatible) run-time engine with labview 2011

I have installed a trial period version of Labveiw 2011 in order to check for possible upgrade issues I may have if I decide to upgrade from labveiw 6.1. Well, needless to say there have been alot. That is as expected since I have not updated labview in many years. I am still not under any pressure to update; however, I would like to in order to get support and make sure I do not have any compatibility issues with new equipment purchases. I have been able to resolve most of my compatibility issues with simple code fixes and such. However, twice now I have run into an error when launching labview executeables compiled by two different equipment manufacturers. The equipment I am using is not even old...maybe a year or so. When I launch the labview executables to control this equipment on a PC that has the trial period labview 2011 installed, I get an error message stating something like " This requires a Labview 6.1 (or compatible) run time engine." I have tried to download and install the 6.1 labivew engine but I can't install this engine on a PC which has labview 2011 installed. Can someone explain how I am to run these executables under labview 2011. I can't imagine these executables were developed using 6.1 since this equipment is not even a year old now.

Im not for sure I am on the same page with you here. Im not trying to develop any code myself. I have some labview executables that came with hardware we purchased in order to control it. We used to have labview 6.1 installed; so everything was working ok. But now that I have installed 2011, I get an error message when trying to run these executables. The error message states that this executable requires a labview 6.1 or compatible run-time engine. I have seen this error on both XP and Windows 7 machines. I did not develop the executable, it was developed by the hardware manufacturer. But since this hardware is only about 1 year old, I an assuming they used a newer version of Labview to develop this code. Certianly newer than 6.1.
So I guess my question is..is there a way for me to get this executable to work on a PC that has labview 2011 installed. I have tried to install a labview 6.1 run time engine but it will not install. Any other options?

I am working on a project using myRIO. Now, I have a labview program and it can run very well on PC, with usb connection to myRIO. What I want to do next is to run this LabVIEW program on myRIO processor, without the PC. How can this be realized? Thanks!

im still noob myself, so bare with my advise =P
1. The VIs run on which processor? The myRIO processor or the PC processor?
According to the pic you linked both of those VI are running on your target devise not your pc, at this stage you should be able to open one or both of those VIs on you PC and see what is happeneing in Real Time
2. If the program run on myRIO processor, why it stops running as soon as I disconnect the USB between myRIO and my PC?
From what i understand this is happeneing because you have not set a build specificatgion for your particular VI...
if you right click on Build Specification>Source Files>project Files - add your project file VI by clicking the right arrow to Startup VIs and click build
now you should see a new file under build specs right click on that and click set as sartup and run at startup and a promt windpow should pop up asking you to reboot
*** I still dont fully understand this proccess and i might be wrong but maybe someone else can elaborate a little more***
3. How to run a program on myRIO independent of PC?
As vague as this question is i think i can shed some light on the subject...
If you develop a code to run on your PC you most likely will not be able to just drag and drop it to run on your target device...
if you right click and create a new VI under both "my computer" and your "myRIO" and then right click on both the front pannels of each VI you will notice that some of the options that are available on the front panel of the my computer VI will not be available for the front pannel of the myRIO VI...
With that said if you have developed your VI for a PC platform, and drag and drop it under your myRIO and open it you will most likely see broken wires and a list of errors =P
(this happened to me)

How to build demo versions with Labview ?

Hello,
is it possible to design Labview applications in a kind,
that it is possible to generate "demo versions" of it ? Demo version in the means of feature-limited crippled versions of a full instrumentation software, where SOME hardware access is denied, but you can load and view and analyse data.
Of course it might be useful to compile this demo version with the Labview Application Builder,
What might be the business modell for demo versions:
A hardware manufacturer creates a Labview application which controls the manufacturer's components, and allows instrumentation and data recording. The application is not free but sold for extra money.
As pre-sales benifit, the manufacturer would like to send the (compiled) Labview application to future customers.
Now the problem is, that the customer has not (all) the external devices or PCI/USB devices,
on the other hand the hardware manufacturer does not want to give the "full application" as gilft to the customers.
Now with traditional software development with C++, Java, C#,
either a demo version is gained from the full version by replacing some module with hardware access by modules wth "empty" function body or with function body which return constant values instead of accessing the hardware.
In the world of process industry, usual process control systems may supply "alternative" values if the original device is not available.
What kind of software structure must I build with Labview, to do the same ?
Now the problem with Labview applications is
Labview applications depend on drivers. Drivers depend on hardware.
So if the FULL commercial version of the Labview program accesses a DAQmx driver, GPIB driver or any other hardware driver by a VI,
and often this means that a special manufacturer VI is used in the Labview program which does the actual hardware access,
how to modify the software to make a demo version
a) so that IF the customer buys the hardware and gets the hardware driver, he still does not have the full version
b) so if the customer neither has the hardware nor the driver, he still can run the Labview software and load an view data, push buttons, can execute menu items even can manipulate data ect, can use the manufacturer's VI
Unfortunately, it is no solution just to delete "some" of the VIs with hardware access from the distribution of the demo version, as this just causes error messages during the loading of the (compiled) Labview demo application.

are indeed at least a part of what I wanted.
Anyhow, as such "suspended" VIs are often the *source* of signals,
so there must be an addtional method how to provide "alternative" signals for the demo version,
which does not make the administration / further development the full version too complicated...
For example: The VI for an external signal generator device is disabled, but alternatively it would be nice if the users of the demo version can get a fixed sinus signal instead...
How to do that with Labview and the "Conditional Disable and Diagram Disable Struktures",
and can I test this all even without Labview Application Builder, in the full development system ( so that I don´t need the compiler for frequent checking ) ?
Btw, with what version was this "Conditional Disable and Diagramm Disable" feature introduced ? Is ist already available with Labview 7.0, /.1 ?

How to run .exe files with Virtual PC for Mac

Hey Guys, I'm new around here and with mac technology as well. Anyway, I have an iMac OS X 10.5.1 Leopard and I've recently purchased the Virtual PC for Mac 7.0.2 software. So I'd like to know how to use this program properly, because I need to run some executable files in my computer. It is confusing for me because I don't know how to get started, and I only get to the part when it says "OS not found, Install an OS on this hard drive".
Honestly I've no idea of what an OS is or where do I get that. So I'd really appreciate if one of you guys could tell me, step by step, what to do to use Virtual PC properly, and finally learn how to run .exe files on mac.

This brings up the second part of your problem. The first part is setting up either a proper Virtual Machine program like Parallels or VMfusion, or setting up a Boot Camp partition on your drive.

OS stands for Operating System. You are running Leopard 10.5.7 as an operating system on your Mac (MacOS X).
The second part of your problem - You will need a copy of Windows XP or Vista if you want to run Windows on your Mac.
There is at least one other solution for running Windows programs on a Mac. It's called "CrossOver" by a company named 'Codeweavers'. It's based on a project for "Wine" to be able to run PC programs on a Mac or Linux, without having to buy or install Windows. It works with a narrow subset of Windows programs so you would want to make sure the program you want to run is compatible with CrossOver before you buy it.

In addition to all the above information, you need to upgrade your Mac to the latest 10.5.7 from 10.5.1. "Software Update" is located under the black Apple icon in the Menu Bar at the top left corner of your monitor. After you are updated you will want to update your Profile here so that it shows the proper OS version.
With your level of experience with MacOS X and the Windows OS's you should probably get some help from a local Apple store. They have an appointment system and do offer many types of help and training, and they can offer assistance with choosing the proper programs for you to purchase for your machine.

The Quanser website indicates that the QNET products are fully
compatible with LabVIEW and NI Elvis. However, I could not find more
information on any drivers they provide for LabVIEW, so I suggest you
contact them directly about this. If they have drivers written for
LabVIEW, that should be enough to communicate with the board from
LabVIEW. In order to communicate to NI Elvis, you need to install
NI-DAQmx and NI ELVIS drivers available at this page.

How to run .exe files with DAQ on a target PC?

Hi,
I want to run LabVIEW executable files on a target PC, where there is no LabVIEW installed. These files are used to do measurement using DAQ devices.
In order to run these .exe file, I guess that I should install both LabVIEW Runtime Engine and NI-DAQmx on the target PC. Is it right?
I'm wondering if it is mantatory to install NI-DAQmx on the target PC. I tried running .exe files without NI-DAQmx installed, but there was an error: nilvaiu.dll couldn't be found. Shouldn't this file be included automatically when building the executable files?

No, none of the hardware drivers are included in the LabVIEW exe that you build. You have to install DAQmx. With LabVIEW 8.x, you can include the DAQmx driver with the installer that you create. You also have the option to install different versions of DAQmx. These different versions are smaller than the full DAQmx install (i.e. you may choose to install documentation, MAX. etc.). When you create the installer, you also inclue the LabVIEW run-time and you should also choose to install the hardware configureation that is in MAX.

We have a std program which will be run by different users in the company. Now the requirement is to make sure that each user runs the report with a specific varaint. Can we control this if yes how?
one options we thought about was to create a transaction in SE93 and define the program to run with a predefined varaint and assign the new custom tcode to the user profile. But we have many different users and we will end up with creating many transactions which we would like to avoid. Is there any other option to control the std program such that each user can run the program only with a pre-defined varaint and the one which only the user is suppoed to run. thanks in advance.

You can create a Custom table
userid keyfield
program keyfield
variant keyfield
programdesc
Make the table Maintaintable(usnig table maintenance )
Now create another Program
It takes input of the Program name( using selection screen)
LOGIC
in side that place a logic ,
Based on the user name and program name Get the variant name from above table
Now Submit the program with the variant you have selected above.
Use Variant Addition when you use SUBMIT
So now program executed based on user variant.
Now you create a Transaction for this program.
When use Runs the Transaction , user needs to input the Program name which he wants to execute.
and Output will be shown based on the variants

I want to know how can I run the program with a variant automatically without defining any transactions or jobs. I want my program to run with a variant automatically, when I press F8.

Try doing this way...
First Create a Sel Screen varient, 'ZTEST123' in this case
Report ZTEST.
parameters:
w_kunnr type kna1-kunnr,
w_flag type c no-display.
start-of-selection.
if w_flag eq ' '.
submit ZTEST USING SELECTION-SET 'ZTEST123' with w_flag eq 'X'.
endif.
end-of-selection.
write: w_kunnr.
