How to save to disk ?

I've extracted an image from a larger draw >
cropFilter = new CropImageFilter(630,230,150,150);
croppedImage = createImage( newFilteredImageSource(image.getSource(),cropFilter));
And built a buffer >>>>
buffer = new BufferedImage (150,150,BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB);
graphics2d = buffer.createGraphics();
graphics2d.drawImage(croppedImage,0,0,null);
To write it >>>>
File outputFile = new File("C:/PgmJava/AnimatorApp/imag.png");
ImageIO.write(buffer, "png", outputFile);
The image extraction works ( I can paint it). This image doesn't enter to
the buffer ( this code is OK : other images enter to the buffer and I can
paint them).
Is there another way to write the extracted image to disk ?
Thanks a lot

Did you find out how to go about for it? Since i am also facing the same problem. Are you doing in Applet? Pls do reply to my question.

How to save iPhoto file in a separate portable hard disk drive?

You want to move the iPhoto Library?
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • How do I avoid the "can't save to disk" notice when updating LION?

I've tried to update Lion 3 times (through Software Update) and after 2 hours of downloading it gives me a notice that it can't "save to disk."  I have 80 gigs available on my harddrive so I don't know what I'm doing wrong.  Please HELP!

Thanks for showing an interest… But!
I have tried all the regular stuff. This problem only showed up in OSX Lion. Up till then all was well at Snow Leopard and Adobe CS5.5 Suite. After upgrading to OSX Lion all Hell broke loose. Quite a catastrophe of conflicts. In Design wouldn’t launch. A problem with Suitcase Fusion 4. But PS CS6 had two major problems. One the Epson Artisan 835 could not be seen in Imports. A conflict between 32 and 64 bit formats and again, drivers. But the most persistent and perplexing problem has been that of the preferences. Oh and one other thing, whenever you quit the program, PS CS6, a message appears saying that the program has quit for no good reason and did I want to send a report to Adobe and/or Mac. Well I must have sent them a thousand reports. What I most suspect is file damage and incompatibility. What I have tried has not found the files to replace those that will reset themselves. i.e. .plst etc. without buggering up the works. I have tried to figure out what might have caused such changes between Snow and Lion other than the well known differences regarding supported stuff, formats and out of date software i.e. Rosetta. Some how or other I suspect damaged files. The kind of damage where a single character is missing and nothing works but no file checker in the world can detect as screwing up the works. Now in several cases a lot of re-installation has been done. But again no help. So putting a finger on the culprit file(s) has not been easy. Fortunately this machine has four active drives so reverting back to where all was OK is easy. But as for going forward, well that is at a standstill.
So, if any body out there has any insight to these three problems I would be most interested to see what you got.
    Many Thanks

  • How to save iPhoto folders to external disk?

How to save iPhoto folders to external disk?

    You are not clear
In iPhoto folders go not hold photos - they are organizanially ielements and hold other folder or albums
are you talking aobt events by any chance? What do you want to do?
To move the photos form events to an external drive select them and export - see the user tip on exporting for details on the options available
to run iPhoto with your library on an EHD
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • How to save SOME time machine Mac backups from the TM disk to other disk WITHOUT formatting the destination disk?

    Hi,
How to save SOME time machine Mac backups from the TM disk to other disk WITHOUT formatting the destination disk?
I have a Time Machine disk (A) including the backups of several different Macs (B, C, D & E) generated with an old Mac OS X 10.5.8 (iMac PowerPC) over the years.
I have transferred the old Mac contents to a new Mac with OS X 10.8.3 using Migration Assitant. All OK.
Now, I want to erase such TM disk A to use if for other purposes, but first, I would like to RECOVER the backups of some Macs inside it (D and E). Is that possible WITHOUT formatting the destination disk and selecting only some Macs from the TM disk and not the fulll TM disk? How?
    Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I do not think that is messy, anway. I simply used the same external disk as Time Machine disk for different Macs. And that worked OK all the time for years.
The ExternalTimeMachineDisk contains the folder Backups.backupdb
which contains the following folders (each one corresponding to the Time Machine backup made from each Mac):
    Mac1
    Mac2
    MacBook1
    MacBook2
In relation to my message above, is it possible to select specific files, folders or full Mac backups from such Time Machine disk and save them to other disk? How?
    Thanks.

  • How backup/save software installed on T400 before doing clean install of Windows 7?

    Hi
I have a Thinkpad T400  2764-CTO Running Vista Business 32-bit  and want to do a clean install to Windows 7 Pro.
Sounds like I can get all the drivers via System Update 4.0, but I'm concerned about how to save/re-install some of the software that came on the machine.
In particular, Intervideo WinDVD and Roxio Media Import. If I go to my Programs folder and copy the folders for Roxio and InterVideo onto a flash drive, and then re-copy into the Programs folder on the C drive after a clean install, does that work?
I've never used Rescue and Recovery on the laptop, and am not sure how it works. Any advice is appreciated.
I'm not sure I even know all the stuff that exists from the factory. Anything else I should be concerned about? Thanks! - Kathleen

"In particular, Intervideo WinDVD and Roxio Media Import. If I go to my Programs folder and copy the folders for Roxio and InterVideo onto a flash drive, and then re-copy into the Programs folder on the C drive after a clean install, does that work?"
As Maliha said (or implied) that doesn't work.  Just copying installed programs doesn't set up the registry entries or any data folders and files they may use in your user files.
You might consider copying your entire user directory to large flash or DVD or external hard drive as a way to preserve your personal data and program data files.  Things like Thunderbird mail or Firefox bookmarks are in C:\users\kathleenklein\appdata\... (which may not be visible unless you make them so) and can be plugged back into your Windows 7 install.
"I've never used Rescue and Recovery on the laptop, and am not sure how it works. Any advice is appreciated."
First, have you made your factory recovery media?  That ensures that you can revert to factory Lenovo setup if you ever want to.  To give the machine to your little brother, for instance.  It will burn a pair of CDs and one or more DVDs.
You can/should also use R&R to save a current whole-disk image to external media.  That lets you fall back to your current setup if necessary.  This is likely to be fairly large.  An external hard drive is usually required.  Use advanced R&R to set up the target and start things off.  Once you are sure that Win 7 is going to work for you, you can get rid of the saved Vista image and use the drive for your Windows 7 backups.   You do make backups...
R&R can't (AFAIK) save your Vista user stuff and restore it to WIn 7.
Is this a clean install using Lenovo media or is it Microsoft vanilla?  I just did a MS Vanilla 7 install.  Since the service and recovery partitions in the Lenovo Visa drive configuration will be useless in a WIn 7 install (if MS vanilla) I used the advanced option and had the Win 7 install delete all partitions and just do its thing.  It created a small boot partition and used the rest of the drive for C:
After installing '7, install the latest TVSU and let it pull down the basic/necessary Lenovo drivers and apps.  After that you may choose to install the latest R&R.  Surprisingly, it can be used to make backups even without the Lenovo partitions present.  I've verified that by making a full image and restoring to a bare drive.
It's handy to Install '7, do a MS update, install TVSU, do a Lenovo update, install R&R and then burn a recovery set of CDs and DVDs so you can rewind to a sort of base-usefull-initially-updated condition should that be necessary.
As you probably already know, start here for your Lenovo Win 7 downloads: ThinkVantage Technologies Updates

  • Can anyone tell me how to save a project in i-movie from one Mac to another? Thanks

Can anyone tell me how to save a project from one Mac to another I can save and copy 'events', but the 'projects' won't open, thanks

    Hi
iMovie'08 - NO - Projects can not be moved - As far as I know
You need iMovie'09 or 11 where both Events and Projects can be moved.
DO NOT move or alter any folder named
    • iMovie Projects - or -
    • iMovie Events
on DeskTop/Finder - Else they will not work and in some cases it is un-repairable !
Moving has to be done inside iMovie Application.
AND You need an in between storage eg an external hard disk and here are an IMPORTANT MUST
    • it MUST BE Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange will not work FOR VIDEO
    • Should be a FireWire one - As USB/USB2 performs badly especially when filling up and when editing HD-video.

  • How to save up storage room in lightroom 5 on a mac?

How to save up storage room in lightroom 5 on a mac? I moved all my pictures on an external hard drive, because I knew there will be the option of creating smart pictures to keep on editing if the hard drive was offline.  I wanted to free my laptop of the heavy RAW-files. What do I have to chose? Which preview mode? Which smart previews?
+ Is it possible to edit smart previews in photoshop while the EHD is offline?

You definitely need the smart previews to edit pictures without the connection to the EHD. If you just have the normal previews, you'll be able to see the preview, but you won't be able to edit in the Develop module.
Regular and smart previews are smaller than the original images, but if you have huge amounts of any sort of preview the file size will go up. If you're that concerned with disk space, then you can just do the smart previews for the folders or images that you want to edit while disconnected, and then delete the smart previews when you're done editing those images.
What I've been doing lately is having a "working" Lightroom catalog that has my active projects only. I keep that catalog on Dropbox so I can share it across machines, and since I only have the free account, I want to keep the file size of that catalog as small as possible. So new imports go in to this catalog with smart previews, I edit them, and when I'm done with that project, I migrate the project in to my "full" catalog without the smart previews. So my working catalog stays as small as possible, I get the benefits of smart previews, and I keep my footprint small.
Since I'm moving things in and out a lot, I optimize my catalog once a week just to make sure I'm not keeping a bunch of trash around.
In your catalog settings, you can also change the size of your previews and change how long you keep them. You can also discard all your 1:1 previews by selecting images/folders and selecting Library > Previews > Discard 1:1 Previews.
At some point, though, all the shuffling around might get to be too much work, so it may be worth looking at cleaning up disk usage elsewhere so you can find a nice balance.
    Good luck!

  • Help! I have no Save As Disk Image

Ok, I just got iLife 6 and I'm having HUGE problems. I have a plextor external drive and just downloaded toast 7. I tried to go to save as<disk image and it's not there. I don't know what to do, I put to save to desktop and then drag it to toast, but it said it was an unsupported format. I don't know what to do, any advice would be MOST helpful!

tried to go to save as<disk image and it's not there.
File/Save as Disk Image isn't in the Menu bar? Then how did you do this?:
I put to save to desktop and then drag it to toast
but it said it was an unsupported format. I don't know what to do, any advice would be MOST helpful!
    File/Save as Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. If you hold your mouse cursor over the pop-up it says: "Select a slower speed to work around burn failures," so select 4x or slower for best results. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • Burn to Disk/save to disk image

A short answer is fine if you can send me to where i can find the explanation of what exactly these are are how to do it. Is it MAC 101? I am new to mac
I have been using the same ol movie to experiment with and see what i can do.
I tried to burn the project to disk and it says its too large..I have nothing in the trash. In Finder and (command i) on the star it says its 13.21gb's
In Finder and QT FQ it says 9.84 gb"s
I only see a burn to disk in i Movie
I don't see an option of saving to disk image but have seen a post where it was being done,it may be the same thing.
I though I would be able to save the movie as just data using very small bytes
without loosing quality. Am I even in the right ballpark here?
    thank you

My movie is filmed using the HC3 Sony HD .. Its about 25 min long .I have done everything using HQ when asked , so far with the movie.
I have burned to dvd in iDVD, no problems( other than the time to encode the audio)...lost some quality there in i DVD, but I understand that..Its not burnung to High Def .
I have shared it back to the camera with excellent result. seems like no loss of quality there. Looks great on the HD tv.
I have shared it to Quick Time and viewed it on My PC . Looks good there also.
I have shared it to ITunes and viewed it in iTunes, looks great, but so far unable to put it on an iPod. I have that 60gb ipod that plays music videos and has the movie capabilities.
I saw in iMovie under the dropdown menu under file it has BURN TO DISK
Thats what I tried when it said it was too large..so whats that for?
I am now trying to share to iDVD and I see the> Save as disk image.
Now by doing that I will have saved the movie to a file that I can later use to burn another DVD? Just import it into i DVD and burn. Then it can be played on a dvd player? And I will have lost the capability to share it back to a camera for the high def?
If so I guess the advantage here is that mabey I could save multiple movies on a single disk being the size is so small . Is ther any other advantage...maybe shorter time to burn more of same movies at a later date?
    I think I may understand a... little ..
    Thanks VJK

  • Re Iphoto stream - how to save space on icloud by deleting on iphone but not on mac iphoto?? thanks

Hi - be great if anyone can help....
It's unclear to me as to how to save photostream photos from iphone to macbook if I want to delete the same photos from my phone to save space on icloud.
Thanks in anticipation of any advice

    Hi
It's a very good idea to use an external hard disk to take load off the Main Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk.
BUT there are some VERY Important things to know.
    A. NEVER move via DeskTop/Finder or alter any folders named
    • iMovie Events - or -
    • iMovie Projects
As this will result in disaster (hard to impossibly to mend)
All moving's of Events and Projects must be done Within the iMovie Application to be done in a Safe Way
    B. The External/Second Hard Disk
    • MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted for VIDEO - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange works for most things BUT NOT FOR VIDEO - whatever program is used iMovie or FinalCut or iDVD doesn't matter - VERY IMPORTANT ! ! !
    • Should be a FireWire one as USB/USB2 performs badly to me especially when filling up. (Thunderbolt might be even better - have non to test)
    BUT when reg. iPhoto Library.
    • Yes it can be moved
    • Yes iPhoto can be directed to find it
    • BUT - iMovie can not find those out-localized iPhoto libraries (AS FAR AS I Learned up to now 12-April-03 - anyone with more insight may kindly set me into a possibly way to do this)
So I've outsource my iMovie Event's (most important as they take space) and Projects (not so important as they are very small - no movies in them only text document conducting how the Events are to be viewed) - BUT iPhoto stays - will not touch it.

  • New help with my mac air and airport extreme time capsule dont know how to save to time capsule and use as a external hd

new help with my mac air and airport extreme time capsule dont know how to save to time capsule and use as a external hd would like 2 store my home videos and pictures on the time machine (ONLY) as the MAC AIR has storage space limited space please help. THANK YOU.

See the info here about sharing or using the TC for data.
    Q3 http://pondini.org/TM/Time_Capsule.html
It is extremely important you realise.. the Time Capsule was never designed for this.
It is a backup target for Time Machine.. that is the software on the computer that does backups.. it has no direct connection to the Time Capsule.
It has no ability to back itself up.. unlike all other NAS in the market. It is therefore likely one day you will lose all your files unless you seriously work out how to backup.
The TC is slow to spin up the hard disk and fast to spin down. iTunes and iPhoto will continually lose connection to their respective libraries.
iPhoto in particular is easy to corrupt when you move photos over wireless into the library.. once corrupted all is corrupt. A single photo will ruin it all.. so backup is utterly essential.
Time Machine cannot do backups of network drives. ie the TC. You will need a different backup software like CCC. You will then need another target to backup to..
