How to script custom Photoshop panel?

Hi everyone,
I am trying to create a custom panel button when clicked that runs a custom script. I used Adobe Configurator 4 but the button disappears in the panel when I ran it. I use Photoshop CS5 and Configurator 4 is designed for CS 6 and beyond. So I am gussing that may be the problem.
And I can't find Configurator 2 anymore anywhere online. So, I was wondering whether there is a way to script panel? Or is there other way I can create the custom panel button?
Thank you very much for your help in advance.
Thanks,
Frank

yes, I do the same thing that you are looking for. I use a program called PowerPro, and it allows you to place custom buttons all over your desktop, and when pressed, those buttons do whatever you want them to do (run a program, send a keystroke, run a script, etc.) It really is a fantastic program, and is free. And it works excellent with Photoshop. Here's the website:

  • Is there any alternatives to Configurator for creating custom Photoshop panels?

    I've been using Configurator for quite some time now in order to improve my workflow; having custom panels is huge to me.
    So I was surprised that Adobe decided to stop supporting flash panels, starting with version CC 2014. I want to update Photoshop to CC 2014 but am unable to do so due to my custom panels (which DOES NOT work in said version!!): I would be handicapping myself by upgrading the software.
    I've looked around for alternatives, but so far I haven't found any decent replacement to Configurator for creating HTML5-based panels. I know about PsTools but it appears to be limited to Tools only, and I need to both create a custom toolbar as well as custom panels for my most used filters and selection -actions. Also I know there's an API for creating HTML5 panels now, but I'm a 3D Artist - not a C++ programmer.
    So what exactly are the alternative here?

  • How to Keep Custom Brushes in the Brush Panel Flyout Menu?

    So I have a set of brushes that I mostly commonly use. However, I still use other brushes on occasion. When I load those brushes, my custom brush set doesn't stay in the flyout menu and I have no choice but to find the brush file and reload it. Every time.
    It's getting to be a pain in the butt, so I'm wondering if there is a way to permanently keep your custom brush set in the flyout menu of the brush panel I've attached a screen shot in case what I wanted wasn't quite clear! I want my custom brushes to go where the green area is point.
    Also I'm running a Japanese version of PS, but I'm pretty sure almost all the menu places remain the same. I translated some of the menu (although it might not be the exact same as the US CS6, but if you give me instructions, I'm pretty sure I can figure it out!)

    Thanks! You're a life saver

    Looks like you using mac os x?
    There are two places you can put your brush presets file:
    1. /Macintosh HD /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets/Brushes
    2. /Users/User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets/Brushes
    The difference is that the ones in the cs6 application folder show in your red area and the ones in the library show up below the red area with a separator line

  • How to install custom XMP Get Info Panels in Adobe Bridge CC

    Adobe changed their way they store the custom XMP Get Info Panels in Adobe Bridge CC. Check out this blog to see how you can install the XMP Get Info Panels that you used in Adobe Bridge CS6 in Adobe Bridge CC:
    http://www.databasepublish.com/blog/installing-custom-metadata-panels-and-get-info-panels- adobe-bridge-cc

    Check your Bridge preferences.  It seems that you have the "Don't process images larger than…" option set to a lower amount than some of your files.
    So, don't blame it on Bridge, but on the user who neglects that setting.

  • How would i move a panel in a custom component ?

    Hi All
    I have a custom VGroup component that i am using for navigation on a web application.  In the VGroup i have 6 Panels and inside each Panel between 3 & 10 LinkButtons.  How would i move a Panel to below the first Panel of the VGroup Component, based on which LinkButton the User clicked ?
    This is roughly how my component looks
    <s:VGroup id="appNav">
    <s:Panel id="p1">
    <mx:LinkButton />
    <mx:LinkButton />
    <mx:LinkButton />
    <mx:LinkButton />

  • How do i transform a layer with maintain aspect ratio through scripting in Photoshop?

    Hi,
         How do i transform a layer with maintain aspect ratio through scripting in Photoshop? I am expecting your reply.
    thanks,
    Rajiv.s

    I don't think your talking apples to apples.  First I do not know of any Maintain Aspect Ratio icon in Photoshop. The only icon I think associated with transform is the anchor point icon in the option bar for transform. I think you may referring to the constrain check box in the image size dialog which you can check when resample is checked. Image size effect all layers in the document and the documents canvas size. The document canvas size will be changed to the values in the images size dialog and all layers will be transformed by percentage the canvas was changes while maintaining the layers position over the canvas and the layers I think may be cropped so only pixels over the canvas remain.
    I do not know if you know that layers can be any size and have aspect ratios different then the documents canvas.
    In your case it sounds like your describing a template that has a canvas size that is 2000px wide be 3000px high a 2:3 portrait aspect ratio.  Your image file has a landscape aspect. If you place that image into your template place would by default transform the image so the image would fit within the 2000px by 3000px canvas size there would be a white border top and bottom.  You could transform that smart object layer to it actual pixels size activeDocument.activeLayer.resize(100,100, AnchorPosition.MIDDLECENTER); then calculate the size you want to transform its height to. By retrieving the canvas size and the layers boundaries. Divide the canvas height pixel size by the layers pixel height size should give you the percentage you need to use. Make sure you set the ruler units to pixels so your working with pixel values for the canvas and layer size values. The resulting layer will be larger then canvas size keeping the anchor point centered will result in the canvas size masking off both sides.  In effect cropping you landscape to a portrait.  Note cropping a image from one orientation to the other changes the composition drastically.
    If your trying to make a composit like collage you may want to look at my Photoshop Collage Toolkit it will fit images to fill a 2000px by 3000px area http://www.mouseprints.net/old/dpr/PhotoCollageToolkit.html
    You could also do centered 2:3 crop that is resized to a 3000px

  • Custom XMP Panel with "pulldowns" in Bridge

    Hello,
    I have a custom XMP panel built that is visible in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, which is nice.
    I can view this custom XMP panel in Bridge as well, however the fields with pulldown menus don't show in Bridge. Being able to use pulldowns is critical for our workflow...AND I want people to be able to use Bridge for metadata entry. Does anyone have a solution for this?
    I want fields with pulldowns in my custom XMP panel to be viewable and editable in Bridge. Help!!
    Thanks
    Rob

    Bridge's metadata panel only supports plain-text fields for custom metadata. See the following article on how to submit and feature request to Adobe via the feature request form:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/800/e8008c68.html
    I assume you already know that you can open the File Info dialog itself directly within Bridge for a selection of one or more files, yes? The same custom File Info panel that appears in Photoshop's File Info panel will appear in Bridge. To open File Info in Bridge, use the File or thumbnail-contextual menus or the keyboard shortcut Cmd+Opt+Shift+I.
    If you really require a highly customized metadata UI right inside the Bridge window (File Info is a modal dialog box), and you are willing to invest some coding effort, then I suggest using Flex Builder to create a custom Flash Panel for Bridge. You will have to take on some non-trivial work to sync up what's displayed/edited in your custom panel with the current selection of Thumbnails, etc., but such a solution should be technically possible. The Bridge Scripting SDK includes example for how to add a Flash panel, how to get your Flash ActionScript and Bridge JavaScript to talk to each other via the Flash External Interface, and how to use the XMPScript API to modify metadata for files. Again, I think the effort required is non-rivial, but Bridge does provide a platform upon which you can build a highly customized solution.
