  • How to see colors on my Mac the way a PC user sees them

    Hi all,
    I've been scouring the web to try and find a simple explanation of how best to calibrate color on my Mac so that photos that I edit there will appear properly when viewed on the web by a Windows user.
    I was working using a profile that made the images look great on the Mac (I think it was a Gamma of 1.8 and temperature of "Monitor Default"), but when I saw the images in IE6 on a Windows PC, they all looked dark and over-shadowed.
    So... now for the questions:
    (1) Is there a way to calibrate the monitor so it better represents what a PC user would see? (I've read that using the sRGB profile is close, but didn't know if there was a way to get even closer)
    (2) If you use Windows on an Intel Mac under either Boot Camp or Parallels Desktop, are the colors displayed the same way a PC user would see them? (I may be updating my PowerBook G4 to a MacBook Pro and would want to have a "test environment" that could emulate PC colors).
    Thanks for your help!
    - John

    In Windows, the default gamma is a much darker 2.2 with a bright bluish white point of 6500K. Change your Mac's display profile to match those settings and the images you create under those settings should look much closer to how you see them on your Mac in Windows.
    Profiles are very important in RGB. They let color management software (Kodak in Windows, ColorSync in the Mac OS) know what to do with the image when you open it. That is, when the source and destination profiles don't match (both the monitor and image profiles), the software knows how to alter the image values so the picture looks close to the same on one computer as another. With no profiles embedded, the color management software can't determine the original color spaces. As such, how the images will display on any given monitor will vary slightly, or a lot. It all depends on how that monitor is set up. But this pertains more to color then overall contrast, though it does affect both.
    Some (not all) web browsers are aware of profiles. Safari is one. So even if your files have a gamma of 2.2, and a person visiting your web site has their monitor set to a 1.8 gamma, Safari can adjust the color of the images on the fly to have them view correctly by knowing the difference between the embedded image profiles and the user's monitor settings. It's not perfect, but works pretty well.

  • How To See Color Profiles in LR2?

    How can I see, within LR2, which Color Profile is embedded in JPEG and TIFF versions of my pix?  The "Color Profile" field is provided in "Properties - Metadata" in Photoshop Elements, but I cannot find the "Color Profile" field in LR2 "Library - Metadata", even when I select the "All" option for the Metadata panel.
    Is there some way to really see "ALL" of the metadata in LR2?

    Paul,
    I don't think you can. But, in LR, the color profile (as long as it's taken into account correctly) does not matter that much, since upon Export you have to specify a color encoding to be used (and profile to be included)  anyway.

  • Can anyone plz tell how to bundle a color box?

    Hi all,
    I am trying to pass the color of a color box control from one vi to another vi by bundling it into a cluster and passing the values. There are some other values also which are bundled along with the color. In the second vi when i tried to unbundle the cluster passed from the first vi and then wired the color passed, to a color box, it is getting connected and showing the correct color . But when i am trying to connect the whole bundle to a cluster, it is not gettting connected because of the color box in the cluster.
    Can anyone please tell me how to solve this problem. I have herewith attached my 2 vi's which i am working with.
    Thankful regards,
    Nitz

    Hi Nitzy,
    gaa, I'm color blind now
    Well, in your vi2.vi you call a subVI (inputmodule2), which you didn't attach... There's no direct connection between vi1 and vi2...
    -You also have a big race condition in your vi1 because of all those colorbox locals - when more than one condition is true you can't predict which color is used...
    - Why don't you use UnbundleByName?
    - VI2 shows no wiring error...
    - Why don't you use a cluster in VI for all your inputs? You can hide the border and place the cluster elements in the same way. No need for several locals for initialisation and no need for a bundle node...

  • How can I make a color box indicator transparent?

    All, I would like to make a color box, which is part of a cluster in an array, transparent programmatically.  Instead of appearing transparent, it shows up with a LARGE "T" inside the color box, with a white background.  Because it is part of a cluster within an array, it will not work to use a property node... and because I would like to programmatically change the color, having it permanenty transparent (as proposed on another discussion topic) will also not work.  Can someone please help me turn a color box transparent programmatically?
    Thanks.
    Anthony

    The problem is that arrays of clusters cannot be passed into property nodes as falkpl has previously said. The attached jpeg shows how you would programmatically break the arrays into cluster, into elements, and then manipulate that color box to a transparent one. The T within the white color box indicates transparent though. If you were to attached that to a color attribute then you would see that object disappear (well I guess not since it's transparent )

  • How do I create multi colored boxes using CSS3

    OS - Windows 7 using DW Cs5.5
    I need to create a screen with lots of equally sized colored boxes with text colours that will be visible easily within them.
    I have a class set up as follows:
    .yellowbox {
        font-family: "Lucida Sans Unicode", "Lucida Grande", sans-serif;
        font-size: small;
        color: #F00;
         background-color: #FC3;
        text-align: center;
        vertical-align: middle;
        margin: 4px;
        padding: 4px;
        clear: none;
        float: left;
        height: 10em;
        width: 30%;
        position: relative;
        border: thick solid #F00;
    This displays a box that is yellow with a red border.
    With a set of 9 divs of this class, I get 9 boxes arranged as a 3x3 grid in a 960px wide container.
    How do I modify the CSS so that the background color changes with each box, and the text color is always in a color that is readable?

    First change the CSS as follows
    .box {
        font-family: "Lucida Sans Unicode", "Lucida Grande", sans-serif;
        font-size: small;
        color: #F00;

        margin: 4px;
        padding: 4px;
        clear: none;
        float: left;
        height: 10em;
        width: 30%;
        position: relative;
        border: thick solid #F00;
    .yellow {
       background-color: #FC3;

  • How to make a round color box?

    Can anyone walk me through the steps in making a round color box?
    Thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Do you need a color box because you want the user to pick a color or you want the vi to spit out a color? Or do you want the color box for some other reason?
    If you want to make it open a color picker pallette, I don't know of a way. However you could always make a round decoration, make sure it is on the top layer and the refnum for it should be This VI.Panel.Decos[0], and then you can programmatically change it's color via a property node. See attached.

  • Exchange 2010 DAG and NIC Teaming | Team broke and now cluster doesn't see the box

    Hello everyone,
    Question for the group. We are running an Exchange 2010 DAG cluster with four boxes with active/passive DB's on each of the four boxes. We run HP boxes for Exchange and the NIC's are teamed. Now mind you, I arrived at this company well after this environment
    was set up so I have inherited everything here.
    What has happened is one of the four boxes had an issue after an otherwise normal reboot. We could no longer ping it. Logged into the ILO and was able to log into the server, only to discover its team NIC was messed up and our only option was to rebuild
    the team NIC. So I rebuilt the team and gave it the original IP/subnet/gateway it had. The server reboots and we can ping it.
    However, when I look in the EMC at Database Management, all the passive copies that were on that DB are showing Failed. Ok, so I suspend the copy and attempt to reseed. No luck. I get the error "The NetworkManager has not yet been initialized"
    and it references my machine which had the bad team NIC. Curious, I go look at my Failover Cluster Manager.
    Looking at the fail over cluster manager, I notice a X on the cluster and I am showing my server which had the bad team NIC being listed as down. I attempted to start the cluster service for the machine, but it did not work.
    Is there something I a missing? What are my exact steps to take to get my cluster configuration working correctly again and see my box? Do I need to remove the box from the DAG, evict it from the cluster, and rejoin it again? If so, can I do this without
    affecting the other three machines so users don't notice any outage?
    Thanks for any help you can give!

    Hi Kyle,
    I am Chetan Savade from Symantec Technical Support Team & sorry to know the problem you faced because of SEP.
    Symantec recommends that the Exchange server's OS always be protected by the latest available release of SEP.  The Exchange server's message flow and Information Store must be protected by a dedicated mail security product, such as Symantec
    Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange.
    For cluster environment I would recommend to follow this article:

    This was driving me crazy, too--and the previous answers did not seem to work. I eventually found that if I click one of the data symbols in the graph in exactly the right spot (see below), it selects only the data symbols and not the line. I can tell this because the little selection dots will be around each data symbol, but no selection dots will be on the line between the data symbols - like the graphic in Yvan's answer. Then and only then will the color symbol in the tool bar show the color of the data symbol, instead of the color of the line. I believe that you then have to first click on the color swatch in the toolbar and then select your color (or choose Show Colors and select from the color tool). Just clicking a color in the crayon box, for example, did not seem to work unless I first clicked on the color swatch in the toolbar, then clicked Show Colors on that dropdown, and +only then+ clicked the crayon or whatever.
    _The right spot to click_ seems to be just above the exact center of the data symbol, at least for the diamond shape symbol that I prefer. Sometimes it takes several tries to hit the right spot. If I miss it, the whole line is selected, which is indicated by the little selection dots on the line, between the data symbols. When I click the right spot, those selection dots go away, leaving only the data symbols selected. Then I can change the color, as described above.
    I hope this works for you too.

  • Randomized Colors are Too Dark. Questions on Color Boxes

    Hey all,
    I am attempting to change the color of the plots on a mixed signal
    graph remotely using the "color box" control which works fine; however, I
    am also setting the color boxes to a random color when the program
    first starts up which is where my problem lies.
    What I currently am doing is that I have a random number generator
    pumping out a number after which I multiply the number by 10000000, just
    to give me some colors brighter than black, and then I have that wired up to
    the color box control I am setting the random color on. The problem with
    this is that although it does produce some decent colors some of the
    colors produced are quite dark and pretty hard to see on the mixed
    signal graph.
    I could make the graph background a different color if I have to in
    order to see a majority of the colors that come out, but I would much
    rather just have the colors come out more on the bright and colorful
    side.
    So I have two questions for you guys and gals:
    1) How do the colors of the colorbox get determined using the unsigned 32 int?
    One such example of why I am confused is that the number that I have
    going in is 5726420 from the random number generator (+ being
    multiplied), but on the colorbox control the RGB value is R:87 G:96
    B:212. Why is that?
    2) Is there any kind of algorithm out there that someone has done
    that can produce values randomly that will give kind of neony colors? or
    anything semi-bright for that matter?
    Any help is very much appreciated!

  • Can a Color Box display the transparent color [16777216]?

    I was trying to force a Color Box to display the transparent color [16777216 = "2 to the 24th"], but I didn't have much luck.
    Instead of displaying transparent, the Color Box wanted to paint a replica of the coloring tool's "transparent" icon, which is a small "T" on a white background.
    Is it possible to make a Color Box display the transparent color?

    > Well just for the record it appears it is possible to make a color box transparent.
    Okay, that's pretty cool. How'd you do it? Also, your transparent "color" reports as being 0 [zero], which should be black. [Frankly, this strikes me as something of a bug...] And your Color Box does report as Visible.
    Or maybe it's only reporting the first 24 bits of your color as black, and omitting some values in the other eight bits [such as, maybe {1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1}???].
    I added a couple of other values [2^32 - 1, and (2^32 - 1) - (2^24 - 1), which should have 0 in the low 24 bits, and all 1's in the high eight bits], but I couldn't get it to take a value of 2^32. [I don't know how to do long ints in LabVIEW - I seem to recall that you can't.]
    Anyway, when I get some time [maybe tonight], I'll write a script to display all 256 possible values of the top eight bits.
    But in the meantime, do tell how you got the Color Box to display transparent.
    Thanks! Gotta run.
