How to select and field from an table with similar value

Hi Gurus,
I got an requirement where i need to capture some values from an table whose value start with "vmr*"
could anyone tell me the syntax to be used with this?
My table contains valies like "lrt", "vmr'" nut i need only values starting with "vmr"*

In where clause, you can write,
where field like 'vmr%'.

I am able to populate all fields data from database table, using dynamic table creation.
eg,
SELECT * FROM (w_tabname) INTO TABLE <t_itab>.
where w_tabname is the table name given by the user, and t_itab is field symbol.
but some requirement is like that i need to pick up only few fields, which user will give at the runtime.
I can take those fields from file into any internal table,
but the problem is that instead of select *, i need to put selected the fields given by user.
i have tried with field symbol, it is not working (as per my knowledge.)
do i need to create any structures dynamically ?
Can anybody please help in this regards ?

Adding to the below code , you can use some more fields in the select stmt as below:-
REPORT ychatest.
PARAMETERS : p_field1 LIKE dd03l-fieldname,
 P_field2 LIKE dd03l-fieldname,
 p_table LIKE dd03l-tabname.
FIELD-SYMBOLS : <fs> TYPE STANDARD TABLE.
SELECT (p_field1) (p_field2) ( FROM (p_table) INTO TABLE <fs>.
Now p_field1 & p_field2 belong to the same table since you have give the user to enter only one table name.
This should work fine.

Select max date from a table with multiple records

I need help writing an SQL to select max date from a table with multiple records.
Here's the scenario. There are multiple SA_IDs repeated with various EFFDT (dates). I want to retrieve the most recent effective date so that the SA_ID is unique. Looks simple, but I can't figure this out. Please help.

How to select RSNUM field from SUPO_MD_MRP_LIST_ITEM_RFC function?

Hi all,
From my program, I call the SUPO_MD_MRP_LIST_ITEM_RFC function passing MATNR and WERKS to it and receiving a internal table with the MRP list related. So, I check, for each record returned, if the DELKZ field - MRP Element - is equal to 'AR'. So far so good.
However, when DELKZ field value is equal to 'AR', the EXTRA field value returns the BAUGR value - Material number of higher-level assembly - and not the RSNUM value - Number of Reservation -, that it is the information I need.
Does anybody know how I find the RSNUM related to that results returned from SUPO?

In table is the MRP list appearing with all the entries. If not then the storage mode of the MRP list mihgt have been set for transaparent table storage. Check in customization :
SPRO>Production>Materials Reqmt Planning>Check for performance settings>Check storage mode for MRP List. In this the check box might not be selected.
Now it depends whether you really want to check this or not because the database size is going to increase.
But from the point of view of your program you can check this. Run MRP -MD02 for a material. Then check the MDTB table. Now this table will have entries and also the individual segment number.
I am interesten in kwnowing why you are requiring to know the MRP list details. Why not the stock requirements list which is dynamic. I could give you a function mudule which fetches the data from the stock requirements list in an internal table.

in SD the order,delivery or invoice , evrything has field name vbeln.
only difference is which table your are referreing.
if you are working on VBAk, the vbeln will give the sales order..
if in LIPs, it will give delivery while in VBRK for vbeln you will get invoice number.
VBFA will give you the complete flow of order, delivery and invoice
e.g:-
Find sales order number and item from the delivery document
number and delivery item no by using sales document flow table
    select single VBELV POSNV from VBFA into ITAB where
           VBELN = mseg~oivbeln and         "delievry
           POSNN = mseg~oiposnr,     and "Delivery item
           VBTYP_N = 'J'.

Question reg. how to get a field from a table

What is EIN? (I think it is employer identification number). My functional consultant told me to get this value from company code. Can you tell me from which table and field I can get this value?

How to read specific fields from BW table into ABAP?

Can someone help me how to use to FM: RFC_READ_TABLE to read specific fields from a BW table '/bic/zcust_chO01' which DOESN't EXIST IN ABAP.
I am getting an error in OPTIONS & DATA parameters.

FM: RFC_READ_TABLE is a RF FM so by providing BW system's RF destination you can get the values from required table.
TRY this:

Not able to select and copy from adf table in IE and chrome if we enable row selection

Hi All,
We have an adf table and user wants to select and copy table cell values.
We enabled row selection on adf table. Ifrow selection is in place, IE and Chrome are not allowing user to select and copy data. But Firefox is allowing.
Do we have any solution to this? For our customer IE is the standard browser and they do test app on IE.

How to select one row in a table with radio button

Hi all.
I have a VO where there is an attribute (isDefault [String]) that identifies the default record in the view. The possible values are 'Y' for yes and 'N' for no. Obviously only one record can have the 'Y' value.
In my page I have created an ADF Table (with the usual data control drag & drop). I would to transform the default inputText of "isDefault" field with a selectOneRadio component in order to permit the user to select (and save contextually in the DB) the default row of this table.
Can you explain me how? I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.1.4.

Issue with fetching a record from IHPA table with PARNR value as condition

Hi All,
I am trying to fetch a particular record from IHPA table where i am giving the OBJNR number, PARVW and PARNR as customer no. , But I am not getting any record but if i will give OBJNR and PARVW it will generate a record with having same PARNR value.
Example :
case 1st :-
when i am passing following values in IHPA table,
OBJNR = IE000000000010070910
PRAVW = BP
PARNR = 620000562
it is not generating any record
case 2nd:-
But if i will pass
OBJNR = IE000000000010070910
PRAVW = BP
it will generate a record?(one row) which will include PARNR as same 620000562 along with other value.
Q1 - Why it's not generating in case 1st,
Q2 - How I will resolve this issue ? as i have to link some table as EQUI -

      I have written a code for this to join :
     SELECT A~EQUNR
       B~PARVW
       C~CCNUM
       D~CCNUM

             AND PARVW = 'BP'.
      But it is not generating any record but when i am commenting the PARVW i am getting the mixed record of PARVW as (BP,SP,SH)

How to validate a field of type text for similar values

My requirement is to validate a field Name1 of type Text[40] for similar values when a new record is created. So If the Name1 already exist in repository, the validation has to give warning message saying the customer with Name1 already exist.

To validate a particular field, when a new record comes along with the same value SAP MDM is not capable of generating warning messages, but we can have best method of Tracking at Import manager level.
In the Import manager after successful mapping, access the MATCH RECORD tab. Go to the Default import action area there you can find Match type & Default import action. For example if you are sending same Material record which is already available in the Repository, Match type will have the value EXACT where as Default Import action will have UPDATE (ALL MAPPED FIELDS or NULL FIELDS).
Here I have copied various Match types as well as Default Import Actions along with the definitions, pls go thru the same and feel free to revert to me for further clarifications.
Default Import Action
Skip -> Skip source value combinations that already
exist.
Update(NULL Qualifiers Only) -> Update just the NULL remaining qualifiers of each existing qualified lookup value.
Update (All Mapped Qualifiers)-> Update all the remaining qualifiers of each existing
qualified lookup value.
Replace -> Replace all the remaining qualifiers of each existing qualified lookup value by first deleting them and then creating a new value combination.
Delete -> Delete this qualified lookup value during import Processing.
Match Type
None -> None
Exact -> Whether the match type for the destination record with the current source
record is Exact.
Partial -> Whether the match type for the destination record with the current source
record is Partial.
Conflict -> Whether the match type for the destination record with the current source
record is Conflict.

How to select a field from view

This is my view name mtl_item_flexfields mif
i can able to select a single column Ie Inventory_item from view when i use this
Select inventory_item from mtl_item_flexfields mif.
But i not able get the values when i use this select statement

Hello Srikkanth,
The query you posted cannot return the inventory_item column because that column isn't part of you GROUP BY clause.
If you need to see the inventory_item column, you should either include it in your GROUP BY clause (but I doubt that's the right thing to do in this case) or, you need to apply an aggregation function to the inventory_item column, such as MAX or MIN (this may be appropriate in this case but, without seeing any data, can't really tell).
The GROUP BY limits the fields you can select to be either, included in the GROUP BY clause or, arguments of an aggregation function whose result is driven by the GROUP BY clause. In any other case, you'll get message complaining about the field not being part of a group by group.
