How to select the most recent date in a CR XI subreport

I have a sub report and it is simply a reporting of a sub table. It is a table that has multiple records with many dates coupled with types. I only want the most current date for certain types - the types can have more than one date. Much like the following select statement
select type, max(date) from table where type <> 'E' group by type.
How can I accomplish this in crystal?

Group on type. Use record selection formula for type <> E, use group selection formula for the max date. e.g. group formula is{table.date} = maximum({table.date, table.type})

Make a copy of the table and produce your Line chart or Bar chart from the copy. Sort the copy into the order you want to see in your chart.
Alternately you could use a Scatter Chart...

How to display maximum (most recent) date value in a query

hello,
I have the following query:
StudentNumber | ExternalOrganization | Date |         | NumbeOfAdmissions
0112                  050                            06/27/2007   1
0234                  060                            07/15/2008   1
1356                  025                            01/08/2008   1
My dilemma is how to display only the row that has the most recent Date, e.g. here I want to only see the row with student number 0234 and date 07/15/2008; everything else should be hidden.
I know it should be very simple....yes/no?

Even I have made my date field as KF.. n have put condition on it.. but not getting desired result.. may be I am missing something.. somewhere..

Highlighting the most recent date in a row

hi all
I have a series of 5 dates in a row. I would like to be able to highlight only the cell containing the most recent date (in respect to the current date) in each row.
There will be instances when there is no date in some of the cells.

Jason is correct. It requires two tables.
I had started experimenting with this last night, but an outage at my ISP prevented posting at that time.
Conditional formatting of a cell depends on comparing the value in that cell with a fixed value contained in the rule; the rule itself cannot reference a different cell to pick up the comparison value. So you need to calculate a value in a cell on a second table, apply conditional formatting to that cell, and place it directly behind the cell containing the date to be highlighted.
Example:
Dates are in cells B7 to F7 of Table 1
Cell H1 is used to select the maximum date.
Table 2 is a single row table with no row or column header cells, and only 5 columns.
Select Table 1, open the Inspector, and use the Table inspector to set Cell Background to “None”
In Cell H1 enter: =MAX(B7:F7)
Go Insert > Table > Plain
Resize the new table (Table 2) to 1 row x 5 columns.
In A1 of Table 2, enter: =DATEDIF(Table 1::B7,Table 1::$H7,"D")
Drag the handle at the lower right of the cell to copy the formula into all five cells.
Click on A1.
Open the Inspector and choose the Cell Format inspector.
Check the Conditional Format checkbox, then click Show rules...
Set the rule to “Equal to... 0”
Choose a Fill colour to serve as your highlight colour.
Click on the next cell and repeat.
When you have applied the rule to all five cells, close the Conditional Format dialogue.
Choose all five cells. Open the Text inspector.
Click on the colour well.
Leave the text colour set at Black, but move the Opacity slider to 0%.
Close the Inspector and the Colors dialogue.
Select Table 2 and drag it into position covering the five cells with dates on Table 1. Use the Arrow keys to nudge it into exact alignment.
Go Arrange > Send Backward to move Table 2 behind Table 1. Repeat until you can see the dates on Table 1.

I just want the old version of it back since I apparently can't download the Adobe stuff that is necessary to keep my computer safe from Hackers. It sure would have been nice to know there was an issue with the new Firefox Update BEFORE I uploaded it. I have Vista which is usually an issue with both Adobe and Firefox. I don't seem to be able to run much of Adobe at all on my computer because of the Vista.

Does anyone know how to update the most recent Adobe Flash Player on Mavericks? I have downloaded and tried to install it but failed to install. It says "Install Adobe Flash Player" can't be opened because it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store.

Clicking the Stamp tool doesn't select the most recently used stamp - Acrobat X

My issue is pretty much what the title says. Clicking the Stamp tool doesn't select the most recently used stamp. According to the Help screens and training videos, it should. I've checked Edit > Prefernces and could not find a setting that adjusted this behavior of the Stamp tool. Does anyone know what can be done to fix this? BTW - It's not just my installation of Acrobat X. Other users at my firm are having the same issue. The OS is Windows 7. Users have administrator rights. Thanks in advance.

So, what your saying is that this function, the ability to select the most recently used stamp by clicking the stamp tool, has been removed, in spite of the fact that Acrobat's Help pages says it can be done (Using Acrobat X Standard > Collaboration > Commenting > Apply a Stamp > Step 1 > Second bullet). I wish they would put it back. It was quite handy.
Perhaps I should adjust my request. Do you (or anyone else) know of a way to use the same stamp several times in a row without having to choose the stamp from the stamps list? For example, if you needed to put a check-mark stamp in several places in a document, it would be a pain to have to go back to the list each time. Is there perhaps an undocumented feature (maybe holding down a particular key while using the stamp) that would allow for multiple stamping?

In mail how do I stop messages from the same sender from showing up when I select the most recent message from a sender?

on my iMac, when I view messages there is a grey number at the top of the message. This number denotes the amount of messages from that sender and when I view the most recent message in my mailbox (from that sender) all of the older messages load with it and this takes a while for the message to become moarked as "read." I know that I can turn this off because I have mountain lion on my air and i do not have this issue. how can i turn it off?

Select the Most Recent Record

I have a 2-page report that is grouped by employee, where the first page is a standard letter except for address, and the second page is a reproduction of a scanned form that the employee had returned. The employee may have returned several versions of the form over time, updating it each time.
I would like to have the report only pull in the most recent scanned image, ignoring all prior images. I'm struggling with the correct record selection criteria.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you have any date field in the data base that updates the time whenever the image is updated then use that date field in the report-->record sort expert and use ascending order. Now place the image field from the data base in the group footer of Employee which shows the latest image. If you want the old one then goto record sort expert and change the order for date field to descending.

How to get the Most RECENTLY installed JRE path and version ?

Hello Experts,
I am working on Installshield, and for some purpose, I need to get the MOST RECENTLY installed JRE version and Path. Now I have two choices :
1. Go into the directory " C:\Program Files\Java\" and get the most recently changed directory, ( that will be the installation directory of the most recently installed JRE ). And then search in the registry under : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/JavaSoft/Java Runtime Environment/ and look for the version which is having
the value of the key INSTALLDIR as the above found Installation Directory.
But in this approach, I'll never find the Installation dir or version, if the JRE is installed somewhere else than the default location.
2. Now this is the reverse. I first search in the registry, and get the Installation Directories of all the versions installed in the system, and then look at the file attributes ( may be by using some batch file ) and see which one is most recently installed.
My question is, is there any other way, by which I can get the most recently installed JRE's installation Path and version? Or can we trace it during the installation itself ? I mean when we install the JRE, it creates some log files in %TEMP% directory. Is it possible to trace the version and installation directory of the most recently installed JRE from the log file ?

Rendering times are pretty much based on processor speed if I have that right. Not much you can do about that other than buy a new computer. Your day to day work in the finder and accessing of files would be faster with your boot drive internal. One thing you can do is ensure your FCP System Settings are on the fastest disk you have. If you put a pair of drives internal and made a RAID volume for them you would improve your write speed when capturing and for any other read/write operations. You would have to be sure you kept that backed up properly because you double the odds of a failure when two drives spread the data between them. There are many RAID options.
You could also bump up the RAM but you'd have to look at your processes to see if you are being limited by RAM. I'm guessing not but it's not impossible. If you are accessing scratch disks due to RAM limitations that would be one thing you could do.
I would never bother connecting an external via USB if there was an esata or firewire option. I use an esata card internally to give me access to estata storage. I also keep an external FW800 drive for a mirror backup of my boot drive. All my data and booting is internal with all my backups external. Each internal has an external and I have additional externals that I keep off site to protect against fire and theft.

How do I select the row with the most recent date/time?

We have a medication report that needs the last administration time displayed. Can anyone help with a selection formula that chooses the max date?

The easiest thing to do is sort by the date (descending), and show the first record, suppressing all others until the next medication, patient, or whatever your grouping is. This is done with a global variable: Set it to FALSE at the beginning of the group(s), suppress the detail line based on the value of the variable, and then set it to TRUE (which can also be done in the Suppress Format formula).

How can I use only the most recent data in an average?

I have a class which has regular listening quizzes. If a student's average from the last three tests falls below 10 points (out of 20), then that student has to come in for extra practice.
My Sheets are set up with the students' names running down column A. Test 1 is column B. A a check box for whether students handed in the pre-listening homework is in column C. The test and homework column pattern is continued for tests 1 through 20.
I then have an average for all the tests for that student further over to the right.
Next to the overall average, I would like to make a column with an average showing only the latest three test scores. So, for example, the students have just finished test 10, the average of test 10, 9 and 8 would appear, but everything prior to that would be ignored.
I appreciate any suggestions on a formula for how I could make that happen.

Here's one approach. Note that I used Header Columns to make the programming easier. If you choose not to use Header Columns, you can adjust the formulas to account for the difference.
The formula in Overall Average is: =IFERROR(AVERAGE(2:2), 0) for Alice. Fill Down.
The formula in Last Three Scores average is: =IF(COUNT(2:2)<3, B, AVERAGE(OFFSET(D2, 0, (COUNT(2:2)-3)*2, 1, 6))) for Alice. Fill Down.

How to deactivate the Most Recently Used List in Adobe Reader?

how can I deactivate the "feature" of last used file list.
In our firm it is not alowd to see which document was used last time on a computer/login.
A sheduled erase at the registry is not a functional way to deal with the problem.

You can't COMPLETELY remove it, but you can reduce it to one (1) item. Under Preferences>Documents
1 is the minimum and 10 is the maximum. Hard coded, no way to expand or reduce these limits.
The ONLY other option is to disable the "welcome screen" altogether under Preferences>General

How often does the Most Recently Used list get saved?

Has anyone ever done the analysis to see what triggers the SAVE of the MRU list to table PS_PT_PORTAL_MRU?
I'm about to do this tracing work and wanted to see if anyone else had before I start.

I haven't done a trace, but I would infer from the description in the "Using PeopleSoft Applications" Peoplebook--Using the Recently Used Menu--that the changes are saved when a users logs out. If they close the browser without logging out or the session times out, then the changes aren't saved. It also says that entries are added to the list when you leave a component, but they are probably cached somewhere--probably in memory but maybe in a cookie, or a temp table.
I'll be interested to see what your trace uncovers!

EDIT - I did a quick test, and I don't see the behavior described in PeopleBooks. I saw changes in the MRU table without logging out, and they didn't get rolled back. Maybe there was a patch that changed the original behavior.

If you have 5 sub_names that you're interested in, change the WHERE clause to have those 5 sub_names. The list after "IN" can have as few as 1 or as many as 1000 items. (I'm not too sure about the upper limit, and it may be version-dependent.)
If you want to include all sub_names, then omit the WHERE clause.
