How to set store procedure parameters

Hello,
To summarize our problem, we are not able to set store procedure parameters using JRC and without using a Viewer.
Inside an rpt document we use a call to a store procedure that requires some input parameters.
We attempted to pass the required parameters to the report (please see below) but it seems that those parameters are somehow ignored.
In fact null values are always received by the store procedure.
For your information, if the document doesnu2019t contain a call to a store proc but SQL clause parameters instead, then that works.
Does that mean that sp parameters have to be set in a specific way?
Please can you advise?
Tanks a lot,
Joseph
This is how we set parameter values:
private void handleParameters(ReportClientDocument pm_document, List pm_parameters) throws Exception
     ParameterFieldController pfc = pm_document.getDataDefController().getParameterFieldController();
     pfc.setCurrentValue(reportName, parameterFieldName, parameterValue);
Then we export in a pdf file:
private InputStream createInputStream(ReportClientDocument pm_document, String pm_reportName) throws Exception
     return (ByteArrayInputStream)pm_document.getPrintOutputController().export(ReportExportFormat.PDF);

First question:
Do you set the parameters before the database logon?
Sincerely,
Ted Ueda

    Right-click the WINDOWS desktop, choose New->Microsoft Data Link. That will bring up a dialog that allows you to configure and test your database connection. You might connect to the Access database via ODBC or directly via Jet Engine. The Jet Enginge saves you the trouble of creating an ODBC connection on your PC. After you leave the dialog, the "data link" will show up on your desktop as text file. Open it and copy-paste the connection string to your VI.
    This webpage is an excellent resource for connection strings: http://www.able-consulting.com/ADO_Conn.htm
    If your application requires users to change the database connection at runtime, you can also include the dialog via ActiveX (MSDASC.IDataSourceLocator).

  • How to change Stored Procedure Parameters to a value in a formula?

    My Client is using Crystal 8.5 on MSSQL 2005.  The crystal report is called from vb6 application, the client does not have access to the vb6 source code (they are upgrading vb.net), therefore I can only work in the crystal report.
    The vb6 code updates 2 formula fields Start_Date and End_Date in the crystal report.  I would like to pass these values as parameters to the stored procedure and suppress the "Enter Parameter Values" box.
    Stored Procedure: tcs_AMP_eSuper
        Parameters:  @startDate, @EndDate
    What I would like in crystal:
        {?@startDate} = {@Start_Date}
        {?@endDate} = {@End_Date}
    Thanks
    Barry

    Hi Barry,
    You can't run a Stored Procedure with Parameters unless you fill in the values and you can't get the values unless you prompt for them or provide then in the connection properties in code.
    So in your app just fill in the parameter values when logging in. Create your own Param UI or get them from somewhere from a preselected list. As long as they are valid then CR won't prompt for them.
    I don't understand why this is such a problem for you? Parameters will prompt, it's by definition. Create a UDL file, open NotePad and then rename it to *.udl. Double click the file and the OLE DB Provider log on UI will pop up. Connect to your SP with parameters and then save it. Open in edit mode and you'll see the SQL to open the SP with Values in the connection.
    Something like: exec YourSP;1, startdateValue, Enddate value
    So in code use that line in the log on method and the user won't get prompted. How you fill in those dates is up to you.

  • How to create Store Procedure for export result select in .txt or .csv

    Hello,
    I'm using MSSQL Server.
    How to export results query  in .txt or .csv?
    But
    I can not use bcp or SQLCMD.

    1) linked server
    insert into txtsrv...table1#txt(CustomerNumber,CustomerName,EntryDate)
    select orderid, shipname, orderdate
    from Northwind..orders
    Set up the linked server
    Connecting a directory of text files as a linked server is easy.  Here’s how:
    In Windows, create a new directory for the linked server.
    For this article, that directory will be E:\txtsvr.
    Add that directory as a linked server with sp_addlinkedserver:
    EXEC sp_addlinkedserver txtsrv, 'Jet 4.0',
      'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0', 'e:\txtsrv', NULL, 'Text'
    That’s all that’s required to add the linked server txtsrv
     as a connection to the text files in E:\txtsvr, but there are
     no tables in txtsvr yet.  Also missing is a required file, schema.ini,
    which must contain a description of each table’s format.
    You can  learn more about schema.ini from the Microsoft MSDN Library,
     but for now, just use Notepad or your favorite text editor
    to create the file e:\txtsrv\schema.ini as shown in Listing 1.
     In addition, create an empty text file in e:\txtsrv named table1.txt.
    The file e:\txtsrv\table1.txt is now an empty table in the linked server txtsrv.
    We can see that if we list information about all the tables in txtserv with
    the system stored procedure sp_tables_ex:
    EXEC sp_addlinkedsrvlogin txtsrv, FALSE, Admin, NULL
    EXEC sp_tables_ex txtsrv
    Text files are tables
    We can’t issue a CREATE TABLE statement against this linked server,
    but we have created a table easily enough.  We can, however,
    run INSERT and SELECT queries, if we use the four-part naming
    convention <server>…<table> (that’s three dots):

  • How To Set Server Start Parameters With WLST?

    I have WLST scripts that create my WebLogic 10.0 domain(s), managed servers, resources, etc. I'd like to add code to set the server start parameters but I can't seem to find the properties related to server start like root directory, java home, arguments, classpath, etc.
    The relevant piece of the script here that I have so far is:
    def createManagedServer(d,noManagedServers,managed_server_port):
    dhome = DOMAINHOME + "/" + d
    readDomain(DOMAINHOME + "/" + d)
    x = 0
    while x < noManagedServers:
    ms = d + "Man" + str(x+1)
    create(ms,'Server')
    cd("Servers/" + ms)
    lp = managed_server_port + (x * 10)
    set('ListenPort',lp)
    set('AutoRestart','true')
    set('AutoKillIfFailed','true')
    set('AutoRestart','true')
    set('IgnoreSessionsDuringShutdown','true')
    set('GracefulShutdownTimeout',30)
    cd('/')
    x = x + 1
    updateDomain()
    closeDomain()

    From WLST you can find these parameters in
    wls:/DOMAIN_NAME/serverConfig/Servers/SERVER_NAME/ServerStart/SERVER_NAME
    Of course, from your scripts you can set these parameters once you have created the managed server and getting its MBean.
    I hope this helps

    Hi,
    Could not understand your problem exactly. DId you try adding bind variables in the query like below:
    AND hp.party_name='Business World'
    AND csi.incident_date BETWEEN to_date('01-JAN-2000','DD-MON-YYYY') AND to_date('31-DEC-2008','DD-MON-YYYY')
    change to
    AND hp.party_name=:1
    AND csi.incident_date BETWEEN :2 AND :3
    Please note you will need three bind variables. Second and third for SR Dates.
