How to set VO attribute Display Hint in programmatic way

Hi,
I want to dynamically control the display of Attributes(Show/Hide) based on the other table results.
Is there any way to contol the Display of the attibutes in AMImpl class ?
Thanks,
Swathi

Hi,
given that rendering is a client side interpretation (especially if it is conditional for each row in a table) I suggest using EL on the "rendered" or "display" property

  • How to set two attributes as  a primary key in database ?

    how to set two attributes as a primary key?
    Take COffeesbreak as an example ,
    let's suppose that there are cof_name ,sup_id,price and so on;
    the same cof_name may be suplied by more sup_ids,
    and one sup_id may suply more cof_names.
    so the Primary key should be set the cof_name and sup_id ,
    how to set ?
    (of course that i konw if I set a cof_id,the problem will be easy work out
    but now there are those like above)
    I set that as following:
    create table coffees (cof_name VARCHAR(32) PRIMARY KEY,sup_id INTEGER, PRIMARY KEY,PRICE INTEGER )
    THE database print error :cant add more primary keys!
    thanks in advance

    You can only use the PRIMARY KEY declaration on a column if it is the only Primary Key column.
    Use the PRIMARY KEY constraint statement instead.
    create table coffees (
      cof_name VARCHAR(32),
      sup_id INTEGER,
      PRICE INTEGER,
      PRIMARY KEY ( cof_name ,sup_id )

Then if it fails, come back with your code attempt.
    One concern of mine, and my main reason for posting is that it seems like your JButton will initialize a task that may take a bit of time to perform (hence the need for the hour-glass). I just want to make sure that you call this task in a background thread such as within a SwingWorker's doInBackground() method. Hi
    Max. Rows per Page is depend on PLD Settings and Depend on Repetitive Area Fieds Height.
    Try this,
    1st Case:
    ->> Administration Module.
    ->> System Initialization.
    ->> Open the Print Perferences Window.
    ->> Click General Tab on Print Perferences Window.
    ->> Assign the Max. Rows per Page - 99 (or) your wishes.
    ->> Update the Print Perferences.
    2nd Case:
    ->> Open your PLD.
    ->> Choose Repetitive Area on Field Index Window.
    ->> Click Format Tab on Properties Area Window.
    ->> Assign the Lines in Repetitive Area - Your Wishes .
    ->> Save the PLD.

  • [JDev 9.0.3/JClient] ViewObject/Entity attribute: Display Hint ignored?

    I have a small problem with the ability to hide ViewObject/Entity attributes in generated JClient Forms. Hope somebody might know a bit more of this issue.
    When setting the "Display Hint" to "Hide" on an attribute (of either the Entity or ViewObject), the appropriate JLabel and JTextField (or whatever Swing control is used to edit the value) will not be hidden, neither at designtime nor runtime.
    I'm not (yet ;)) an expert when it comes to JClient, but it seems to me that when I tell an attribute of a ViewObject to be hidden, I would expect that the visible property of the appropriate Swing controls be set to false. [ setVisible(false); ]
    In some other thread [ http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jsp?id=1342592 ] I read that the problem might be related to setting the control hint AFTER the JClient Form was generated. However, in that same thread someone else suggested that the control hint is processed at runtime. So, I've tried both approaches: first setting the control hint, then generating the JClient Form and first generating the JClient form, then setting the control hint. Neither approach worked.
    However, I did notice that after I set the control hints, the JClient Form wizard allowed me to hide 'hidden' attributes (which indeed were the attributes which I had specified to be hidden). So that worked ok. But even though I unchecked the hidden attributes box, the end result was still the same: a Form with all attributes on it. Running the project revealed that the controls were not hidden at runtime either.
    Am I pherhaps missing something? Or else could this be a bug?
    (As the subject indicates, I'm using JDeveloper 9.0.3 Production Release.)

    Alright, consider this scenario:
    I have a ViewObject with some attributes and in particular the attribute 'X'. In the database table column X is NOT NULL and so attribute X automatically is Mandatory. (This is correctly generated by the BC4J wizard.)
    Next, I manually specify that attribute X is invisible (Display Hint). This should cause any bound Swing controls to become invisible when simply browsing the database. However, when inserting a new record, all controls associated with attribute X should become visible (since X is a Mandatory attribute). After the new record has been committed, the appropriate Swing controls become invisible again.
    I suppose that this behavior could be the same for non Mandatory attributes, but that's (somewhat) less important.
    In case you want a 2nd form in which existing records can be edited (including column X), attribute X should nolonger be invisible. Then the Swing controls bound to attribute X should be removed from the browse form and the 'insert capabilities' of that particular form should be removed as well. The new 2nd should be used for editing/inserting, while the 1st one is for browsing only.
    I realise that this scenario may contain a couple of flaws, but it's to give you an indication of what I'd like to be able to do with the existing wizards and attribute editors.
    Enjoy :)

  • How to set session attributes in a bean?

    How do I set a session attribute in a server-side bean?
    I'm not sure if I asked the question the right way. What I meant is, while it's easy to set session attributes in a JSP page (session.setAttribute("sessionname", "sessionvalue")), I'd want to set such an attribute within a server-side bean defined in this web application. But what is the syntax for doing it?

    Here a simple bean that stores something in the session and retrieves something from it.
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpSession;
    public class TestBean {
      private String value;
      public void doSomething(HttpSession session, int a, int b) {
        if (a+b > 0) {
          session.setAttribute("ab",Boolean.TRUE);
        } else {
          session.setAttribute("ab",Boolean.FALSE);
      public void init(HttpSession session) {
        if (session != null) {
          Boolean b = (Boolean)session.getAttribute("ab");
          if (b == Boolean.TRUE) {
            value = "a + b is greater than zero";
          } else {
            value = "a + b is not greater than zero";
        } else {
          value = "no session";
      public String getValue() {
        return value;
    }In your JSP, use something along the lines of :
    <%
      TestBean bean = new TestBean();
      bean.init(session);
      bean.doSomething(session,1,2);
    %>If your bean only lives during one request, you can pass the session to the constructor, which stores it in a private variable. This saves passing the session each time.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to set a attribute value of a sub node binded to a table.. pls respond.

    Hi friends,
    I have context defined like this.
         Head_node ( table 1)
              Item_node ( table 2, sub node ).  ( now this im saving in global internal table).
    so now when i hit save button, im passing my internal table (it has col1- sales order no, col2 item details(table type, which can have more than one record) to a FM, to create sales order.
    My sales order is getting saved.
    But the function module will return some new values (like sales order number, item number etc).
    Now i want these values to be updated in my context.
    Meaning whenever after that i do get_attribute, i should get these new (sales order no, item no ) also.
    I dont know how to set the context values of sub nodes , so im missing these values.
    kindly respond back to me..
    thanks in advance,
    Niraja

    Its very simple.
    Follow these steps. e.g you want to get the new sales order number. Define a attribute in ur node (or set of attributes in ur case as per reqruirement) say new_so_number.
    Check your FM, if its returning new_so_number then it's fine, otherwise you have to change the FM to return the new_so_number or you have to get from db table somehow, which best suites your req.
    So once you have new_so_number after calling the FM, say in lv_new_so_number field. Then write this code to set the attribute (change the variables as per your context attributes)
    DATA lo_nd_head TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
      DATA lo_el_head TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element.
      DATA ls_head TYPE wd_this->element_head.
      DATA lv_new_so_number LIKE ls_head-new_so_number.
    * navigate from <CONTEXT> to <HEAD> via lead selection
      lo_nd_head = wd_context->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_head ).
    * get element via lead selection
      lo_el_head = lo_nd_head->get_element(  ).
    lv_new_so_number = new_so_number. " (You got this as a exporting parameter of FM etc..)
    * get single attribute
      lo_el_head->set_attribute(
        EXPORTING
          name =  `NEW_SO_NUMBER`
          value = lv_new_so_number ).
    Hope it works.

  • How to set a dropdown display value

    I know how to access the current value of a dropdown box. But how can I set it?
    I have a dropdown box and one of the choices is 'Other'. When 'Other' is selected, a text box is enabled so the user can describe what they mean by 'Other'. Now, I want to make the dropdown more robust where if after selecting 'Other' and providing a comment the user willingly or not makes a different selection, the user is warned that the 'Other' description will be deleted with a choice to proceed or not. If the user proceeds the description is deleted and the text box disabled; if the user doesn't want to proceed with the deletion the text box is left enabled with its value untouched and the dropdown value is reset to 'Other'. This is the part that I can't figure out: how do I reset the display value of the dropdown?
    Thanks for the help!
    Marc

    Ok, thanks Malcolm. Yes, you were correct about using the rawValue property to reset the selected value of the dropdown.
    Why I got so confused is because all my scripting, including trying to reset the newly selected value, was done in the Change event of the dropdown. The rawValue property 'appears' to behave differently here I think because of the order of the events, where it holds the original value through the whole selection process. So essentially, the rawValue during the Change event doesn't hold the newly selected value and will not hold it until the Change event is fully completed.
    So I was able to reset the selected value through the Exit event by using a form variable whose value I set in the Change event. So my Change event uses this line at the right location in my script:
    cancelDDSelection.value = "yes";
    and my Exit event uses the following;
    if (cancelDDSelection.value == "yes") //if the Change event reset this form variable to 'yes'
    this.rawValue = "Other"; //reset the selected value to 'Other'
    cancelDDSelection.value = "no"; //reset the form variable to its default value
    Not sure if there's a better to do this, but all works as I wanted it to now.

    Hi Experts !
    I am trying to build search UIBB where I need to configure the search criteria dynamically in the IF_FPM_GUIBB_SEARCH~GET_DEFAULT_CONFIG method.
    Please can anyone tell me is it possible to set the attribute types in dynamic configuration .... because I need to create a drop down field in the selection screen.
    Thanks !

    Was it really necessary to post the whole API description?!?
    Locale[] locales = Locale.ENGLISH();ENGLISH is not a method in class Locale, so do not add the braces "( );".
    Also, the constant ENGLISH is not an array, but just a single Locale object.
    You didn't say what your problem was. What do you want to achieve with your program and what is it that you don't understand?

  • How to set cell attributes in a table line ?

    Hello,
    In a PDF form (SFP) , When I loop to display a table, Some conditions will be checked such as the Invoice amount > 1000 , then this cell will be printed in BOLD and Underlined . I think that we will use Java scipt at client But I do not know how to check a cell value and set attribute for a cell. ( BOLD and UNDERLINE)
    Could you please help me ?
    Thanks in advance .

    First of all: do not use table (like the MS Word table). Create a tale "look and feel" using subforms: one for row and one for the table. Then accessing the row and its value is not a problem and has been explained many times here or in the manuals. The same way you will manipulate the font properties of the cells.

  • How to set a uniform display size of multiple intermedia image types - wher

    I have read "If you want to limit the size of the file that can be uploaded, you can do this as a post generation
    step, by adding the maxFileSize property to the <controller> element in the struts-config:
    This does not address how to limit the *** display size *** where you have multiple intermedia image types - where the original size is not uniform.
    If an image is uploaded where the true image display size is 1024 x 768 - it will display that way in the table/table-form. This will create un-even display size's where previous images sizes where different 384 x 384 and so on.
    Is there a way to encode the display size so that *** ALL *** images regardless of their true size are displayed uniformly at least on one dimension (64 x ???)? This is possible when using products such as Dreamweaver or Flash.
    BTW - JHS/***JDev*** synergy is truely magnificient!!! Way-To-Go Oracle!!!!!!!!!!! Keep it up!!!!
    BG...

    Bill,
    I did some tests, and was able to reproduce it. The problem is that JHeadstart distinguishes between display types fileDownload and image, but UIX uses the same <media> tag to handle both display types. It will look at runtime whether it must render a hyperlink to download the document, or to render it right away as an image.
    To get all images the same size, you can set the display width and height, AND the display type must be set to image.
    However, to get the file name used as download link, you must set the FileName attribute AND the display type must be set to "fileDownload" ..
    So, to solve your problem, it is easiest to set the displayType to "fileDownload" and set the width and height properties post-generation in the generated UIX page.
    In the next release of Jheadstart, we will fix this, and always pick up width, height and fileName settings regardless of the display type.
    Note that you should also set the FileName property against the attribute you are using to upload the file.
    Steven Davelaar,
    JHeadstart Team.
