You first need to learn how to create text filed. When you will be able to create a JtextField then set its text to the result of your expression. Please try it yourself and share the sample code if you gett probelms.

How only show first n characters of field when fields are long

I used to have a document on how to do this but lost it.
How do I specify for a field to display the first so many characters in a given field when the field is too long to display in a table?

How to show fixed values instead of field values in ALV cell.

Hi colleagues,
I have a ALV object of type CL_GUI_ALV_GRID.
I have associted a table with it which has a field called refresh type which is of type char1.
My program works fine.
But the problem is,
The refresh_type field has fixed values in its value range.
On display of ALV i want to show the associated fixed value instead of actual value in table content.
I donno the way to do it.
Please help me.

Another way to do this would be to define a conversion exit function for use in the report.
You can copy a SAP-provided function group like ALFA as a template, but you may need untyped importing/exporting parameters. Name the new functions as CONVERSION_EXIT_Zxxx_OUTPUT and CONVERSION_EXIT_Zxxx_INPUT where Zxxx is some string you choose.
In this case the input to the ...OUTPUT function will be the code value from the database and the output value will be the corresponding text. So the code of the function CONVERSION_EXIT_Zxxx_OUTPUT will do the conversion suggested in steps 2 & 3 of Marcin's response above.
Here is an example based on the SFLIGHT model to enhance example report BCALV_GRID_DEMO.
First the conversion function: (I used 'zalv' as my identifying string for the conversion.)

If you run this amended program, you see appropriate carrier texts in the ALV grid, where the original program had the IATA codes.
This approach makes sense if, for example, the same translation is also required elsewhere, as the function can easily be reused.

How to show only last four digits of SSN after it has been entered.

You did not mention the most important thing.. Where are going to display the SSN ..
if it is in report then:
select regexp_replace ('111-222-3333','[0-9]{3}-[0-9]{3}','XXX-XXX') from dualOutput:
SSN
XXX-XXX-3333
If you are going to show it on an item, then you should use that REGEXP in the source of your item... The source could be SQL or PL/SQL.

How to show asterisk for required fields in a table row?

For showing the asterisk (*) for required fields in a form, I used to give required="true" for the component and surround the component with a af:panelLabelAndMessage for which I set showRequired="true". How to do this for a component in a table row. For a component in a table, there is no label per se. The required=true flag in the component shows proper error message saying that it is required but there is no (*) for that component.

Table does not have any required attribute.But column has showRequired property .You can used this.If column has input text then also you put required true on this component.And set your required messages there .

How to show the LOV display column in a field of type ''popup''

Hi All,
I've defined a form (no matter table/master-details/procedure) with a text item of type "popup", and have chosen a specific LOV.
At runtime, after the user chooses a value within that field, He sees the return column, (not the display column) of the LOV.
This behavior is different in field type combobox,
where the user sees the display column, ( this is the expected behavior when dealing with LOVs ).
How can I, in a popup type field, show the user the LOV display column rather than its code ?
Any help will be appreciated !

I had a Tar on this a while ago. Oracle's response is that's the way it is, but :
The problem is that form is storing the ID in the table but when customer queries the form, the ID is displayed, which means nothing to the user.
This is working as it should by design.
An alternative is to add a non-database field to the form to display the name based on the ID fetched from the table or to build the form in a manner that it will query
from both tables, the one storing the ID and the one storing the name, as a loookup table.
Suggested review Notes: 125272.1, 124072.1, 263923.1.
I believe Note:125272.1 would work for you if you have a primary LoV displaying the name but populating the ID from the first table. The second LoV can query from the table storing the name (instead of making it a non-database column). When the first LoV is used, the second will be refreshed, displaying the actual name on the for
m on your non-database field, just for display purposes.

You can use JQuery/JavaScript to validate for errors and div to show error after field like below:

Iam stuck with 1 problem please can any 1 help me if u know the solution.
Here is my problem:
How to show "ALL" Values by default in Page Drop-Down Lists in Oracle BI Pivot Tables?
For example, if you place Region in the pages area, a Region drop-down list allows the user to select a particular region, and see the data for only that region, rather than seeing all the Regions,But by default its not showing "ALL" option in the drop down list ,rather than doing that its showing result for only 1 region by default.
And an other problem with this pages area is, if we palce the multiple attributes in the Pages area in the pivot table, the (Fields)result is showing in vertically, the attributes 1 by 1(Every attribute in a new line) ,rather than showing like that, is there any way to show the results in horizantally?(We want to have it as a seperate drop drown list for every field horizantally not as a concatenated list).

I giving u fair idea how to show g/l account balance
There is a field in JDT1 - journal entry rows - JDT1.DebCred which is indicator when g/l account
is debited / credited,it is filled with value D or C.
You can add Case syntax in existing query with condition JDT1.DebCred = 'D' then
JDT1.Debit + Opening/Closing balance and if JDT1.DebCred = 'C' then
JDT1.Credit - Opening/Closing balance.
It requires much time & effort to build this query.
