There are a couple of routes you can take to communicate with MS Access in LabVIEW. The preferred method is our Database Connectivity Toolset. This allows you to use VIs to communicate with your database. Here is a link to the product for more information.

How to simulate up/down network packet loss, BW, delay from script or command line?

Before ipfw used to cover network QoS parameters simulation from the command line.
Currently, from Yosemite on, PF seems more limited, and only port redirection/restriction seems to be possible.
Network Link Conditioner can do it, but, afaik, not from command line (or script). Which certainly limits a lot for automated testing or other automated operations.
Options?

Thanks for this - I also have an OKI (a C5500) and this is a Godsend as I would struggle to replace it.
A couple of comments:
Points 6 and 7 should be switched - MacPorts wouldn't install until XCode was installed. You my also want to expand the XCode instructions to say that the App Store link downloads the installer and that you need to go into Launchpad and run it to fully install XCode.
The gsed installation also popped up and asked me to install Java (through Software Update). I did this and the installation of gsed continued and completed succesfully.
If wget is in the Downloads folder, the command you have to use it in point 8 should be prefaced with ./ as it's the local folder it will run from.
You have an extraneous line right below the wget command (sdff).
Otherwise, this is a really excellent procedure.

The best way to get started is to decide if you want to use traditional NI-DAQ or NI-DAQmx. Recently we released NI-DAQ 7.1 which provides NI-DAQmx support for the PXI-6508. In my opinion, NI-DAQmx is more efficient and much easier to use.
To get started with examples, simply launch LabVIEW and go to Help>>Find Examples. Then expand Hardware Input and Output>>DAQmx and select the appropriate digital group for your application. This should help get you started.

How to poll a text file with lab view

I am runnig a soft real time data collecting system for shop floor data collecting.reading serial port to list down data into text file. what is the best way of getting this data into labview?.polling of text file or some easy and quick method??

1.) If the data is coming in separate files, use the 'List directory' function to find out when a new file arrives. Then just read it using one of the standard functions, (i.e. Read txt file.)
2.) IF the data is being appended to a single file, use Open/Read/Close file functions. The read function will give you an offset value which tells you how far into the file you have read. Put that value in a shift register and then you can start reading where you left off when the file is updated.

You can either setup wireshark to log that traffic and post process the log file or you will have to interface to the WinPCap driver that Wireshark is using to sniff the network traffic. There has been some work done to interface to WinPCap here in the past but the project has to my knowledge never gone to a fully fledged state, so I would expect you to have to do some work on that level too.

Are you using the Vision Builder for Automated Inspection? If you are, then you can create LabVIEW code. In the configuration interface go to Tools>>Migrate Inspection to LabVIEW. To do this you will need to have the Vision Development module installed.
Or are you using the Vision Builder? Depending on the version of the vision builder you are using you can also generate LabVIEW code.
If you want your code to run in LabVIEW I would suggest that you create your code with the Vision Assistant (this has replaced the Vision Builder, and ships with the Vision Development Module). The Vision Builder for Automated Inspection is intended to be a standalone application.

How to control a NI USB 6210 from a Lab View program?

Hi,
I started today with Lab View with some earlier experience long ago.
While it took me only about half an hour to get my first program running (great), installation time nor included (of course), I meanwhile read documents for some hours and cannot find out how to control measurement hardware in Lab View.
I want to use a USB 6210 to set a 1-bit digital port. But at the moment there is no USB6210 available so I wanted to write (or do you say draw ?) the program without it and if possible simulate the hardware.
I drew DAQ Assistant into my block diagram and selected digital line output but get "No supported devices found". I don't know if the appropriate driver was installed during Lab View installation.
Also I don't understand the mechanism between DAQmx, tasks and the real hardware. Now I have a "Digital Bool 1Line 1Point" Control in my block diagram. How do signals get from program flow to hardware pin? How can I create a simulation for not connected hardware?
Any help is greatly welcome

Launch MAX, it was known as Measurement and Automation Explorer, there should be a shortcut in your start menu / desktop. Under devices and interfaces you can find your hardware and open test panels to control it. This is the first place to ensure your hardware is working. If the device isn't seen you'll need to install the drivers and DAQmx software. If it is there, great.
Now launch LabVIEW. The easiest way to control hardware is using the DAQ Assistant. It has many limitations and isn't recommended for large applications. But for something quick and dirty it works fine. You'll find it under the Measurement I/O >> NI DAQmx palette on the block diagram. If it isn't there you may need to reinstall the DAQmx drivers. This can happen if you installed DAQmx before LabVIEW.
Also you'll find under Help >> Find Examples on the toolbar, many examples on controlling hardware. Feel free to post some code if you are having problems.

AT&T posts their plan prices very prominantly on their web site. You cannot use an iPhone with AT&T without a voice and a data plan.
Personal, I really like AT&T's service with my iPhone 5 (as I did with my previous 3 generations of iPhone). Their LTE data is superb in my area, and voice calls are great. Like any carrier, their network quality and coverage will vary a fair bit around the country, so their is no single answer as to how it will work out where you are. That is why you get a 14 day trial period on any new contract.

Collapsed core network design

I am a consultant, currently a CCNA studying for the CCNP, and I have been mandated to design the network infrastructure for the corporate head office of a mid sized company.
My design is based on a collapsed core network, with 2 x 4900M Switches as the core/distribution and a bunch of 2960S switches for each floor of the building.
While reading the CCNP book, I noticed I had a design 'flaw'... Like the partial diagram below (this is not the actual design), I was planning on linking the two 4900M with a layer 2 etherchannel, and using 1 MST region with 2 instances to split the VLANs between the two core switches.
The CCNP curriculum recommends using a Layer 3 link between the core switches. I'm not sure what the benefit of doing so would or the drawback of using Layer 2 is? Any input would be more than appreciated...

If you're using VirtualBox you might be better off asking this over on their forum

can configure them on the same network range and they should be able to communicate.

How to simulate cRIO

I'm trying to find out how to simulate cRIO in LabVIEW. I found another thread about this, but I am using the cRIO just as a chassis/DAQ not the FPGA or RTOS, basically just like a cDAQ. I've downloaded and installed NI-RIO, but when I go into MAX to set up a Simulated NI-DAQmx device, I have no option for cRIO, I see cDAQ there. I need to set up with a cRIO-9074 chassis

Hello Monse,
That is correct- a RIO is a completely separate standalone device with its own OS that you can cross-compile code for and deploy to (and then communicate with once running). DAQ devices are tethered and controlled by the DAQmx driver on the local machine and can be simulated via this driver. You can certainly develop code without the physical RIO present- just add the model to a LabVIEW project and add the modules you intend to use to the chassis. All of your variables will be present, you just won't be able to deploy the hardware configuration or interface with the RIO. Most RT code can be run on Windows (to validate logic, if not timing), and the FPGA can be simulated, so you should be able to get pretty far without a physical controller.
How do you intend to use the RIO? What aspect of the hardware do you need to simulate for code development? It sounds as though your end goal is to access Scan Engine variables without deploying any RT code or configuring the FPGA at all, is that correct? If this is the case, then all you would need to do to simulate these channels would be to deploy equivalent Network-Published Shared Variables for testing and then re-link the deployed libraries once you have the hardware.
I hope that's helpful- if you could specify what in particular you are trying to achieve at this time (end result and what you are trying to achieve via simulation right now) as well as why you chose this hardware platform, I and others on the forum may be able to offer more specific advice.

Hi Charles I only consider storage nodes and their replicated nodes.
Actually I show an error in the logs saying that one of my storage node use a loopback address. On my laptop I have a network interface and a loopback address (disabled)...when starting sn1 I show that the port 5000 is only linked to the ip address 0.0.0.0 so it is not the good ip address..although i use for configuring :
