How to skip custom validator if other validators fail

I have a custom validator that checks data from db, the validator is at the end of the page so it gets called last. If there already are fields in the form that don't validate i don't want to run my custom validator since will not submit anyways and no need to put extra strain on the db. How can i accomplish that?

Sorry for the confusion. the triggerEvent="click.add" should be triggerEvent.add="click"
I am using Flex 4. The validation is fail if the user don't input anything. Does clickHandler still process the code even though the validation is fail?

Thanks for the hint, my problem is that I don't want to load the file in memory.
Therefore I use SaxParser.
Both solutions provided in that forum require loading on the whole file in memory
Any other ideas?

how do i skip process validations and still update the model? This has got to be a bug or a really huge design flaw. And no I don't want to using 'binding' to bind to every component on my form just so I can set its value. I just want to use value binding.
Perhaps there should be a FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().updateModel() method?

How do you create custom validation rule in WS 9.2?!?!?!

I am using Workshop 9.2. I created a page flow, and want to do some form validations.
I saw the simple 9.2 example, but it is only good for very basic validation, what if you have to validate the form field against a database, must you write a custom validation rule? HOW would you do this in 9.2 so that will still stay with the workshop/netui paradigm?

Staying within the declarative validation framework the answer is probably that you do need to write a custom validation rule and refer to it using the @Jpf.ValidateCustomRule annotation.
The NetUI Annotation Reference shows how the Struts validations are supported via the framework.

Specifically, if you look through the @Jpf.Validate* annotations, while most of these are "canned" common validations, there are a few that are more open-ended, such as @Jpf.ValidateMask and @Jpf.ValidateValidWhen.
Those two let you write the validation logic in the annotation while @Jpf.ValidateCustomeRule only refers to a custom rule in the struts validator file.
In any case, there is a validation rule editor which should help in authoring and managing the annotations. In the Page Flow Explorer or Page Flow Editor just right click on the action or form bean bean of interest and choose Validation Rules and the appropriate scope.

My requirement was to called some action using the keyboard key.
I tried with Access key first but its behaving differently in different browser.
Crome: allowing action on access key press.
IE : setting the focus on commandLink.
Note : I have defined accessKey for RichCommandLink.

This is working fine and launching the first action successfully.
*Now problem is that when i invoked second action its asking me enter data for required fields.*
If i was invoking serverlistener from button than I can control immediate property of command button. but here serverListener is getting called form document. How can I avoid validation here.

You can skip form validation by setting immediate="true" for the buttons. However, this is non-recommended because you may get validation errors later (when you are in another page) if your form has already submitted part of its data through some PPR requests while you were dealing in the form (e.g. validation errors caused at commit time by ADF BC components which were modified but not validated yet).

Hi Marcin,
You have to find your GO button is handled in which standard controller, (if you click on the about this page, you should be able to identify the controller,
or you can download all the controller .class files and decompile and check the logic).
Then extend that controller(which has the Go button logic, you can see how it has been handled.),
The usual way to check is
if(pageContext.getParameter('<Go button name>') !=null)
Since you want to validate first your custom validation, in the extended controller ProcessFormRequest
dont call the super.processFormRequest unless your validation is success.
Call the super at the end.
Inside your extended controller you have to find your AM and then your required ViewObject to get the user entered values.

It sounds like you might have the shuffle button at the bottom left of the iTunes (the button with the squiggly lines).
If that's not the case, then maybe you just need to sort your library by album by clicking the album tab at the top.
Is your music in a playlist, or are you trying to play it from the entire library?
