How to skip data?

Hi
I am working on a control system where a motor (bi-directional) will rotate for a specific data. When it starts rotating, motor should do this for a while and would not change it's rotation even if the data for opposite rotation comes. In that case, after starting rotation, controller has to skip out the next data for a while.
I have made a very simple program to explain the things. Please find the attached file. In loop#01 some random number will generate. In the loop#02, a comparison will be done. When A is true and B is false the output should be 5 and for opposite condition output is -5. When output is 5, this output should stay for a while (e.g 5sec) as 5. In this interval next upcoming 10 data will be skiped out (Since a wait VI is set in loop#01 and wait time is 500ms). I could not figure out how to do this. Could anybody plz help me out?
FYKI: you may find the output is -2 when both A and B are true. It may be happened because of converting the boolean into integer. I dont think it is something should be worried about.

From what I've seen, you will be much better off using a State Machine. One of your states should be to read the data. You will also have a wait state where you should look for UI events (event structure). Another state for setting the output control.

please suggest me how to skip the date inbetween the two working days. please check the below scenario: based on factory calendar (production ) saturday was holiday. one breakdown maintenance order was opened on friday afternoon and its closed on sunday afternoon. now user wants only breakdown hours of production running days/ hours. production was produced upto saturday earlymorning and its renewed sunday morning. where as saturday producion was not planned and its not produced , so user wants to skip that time from the breakdown duration calculation. please suggest me is it right practice? if its right how we have to do in SAP? please let me know it.

How to skip an entire data packet while data loading

Hi All,
We want to skip some records based on a condition while loading from PSA to the Cube, for which we have written a ABAP code in Start Routine .
This is working fine.
But there is a Data packet where all the records are supposed to be skipped and here it is giving Dump and Exception CX_RSROUT_SKIP_RECORD.
The ABAP Code written is
DELETE SOURCE_PACKAGE WHERE FIELD = 'ABC' .
And for a particular data packet all the records satisfy the condition and gets deleted.
Please advice how to skip the entire data packet if all the reocrs satisfy the condition to be deleted and handle the exception CX_RSROUT_SKIP_RECORD .

Hi All,
The Dump I am getting is :
The exception 'CX_RSROUT_SKIP_RECORD' was raised, but it was not caught
anywhere along
the call hierarchy.
Since exceptions represent error situations and this error was not
adequately responded to, the running ABAP program 'GPD4PXLIP83MFQ273A2M8HU4ULN'
has to be terminated.
But this comes only when all the records in a particular Data Packet gets skipped.
For rest of the Data Packets it works fine.
I think if the Data Packet(with 0 records) itself can be skipped this will be resolved or the Exception will be taken care of.
Please advice how to resolve this and avoid 'CX_RSROUT_SKIP_RECORD' at earliest .

So after analysing this log file, i created
the appropriate drives and folders... as the
import statement doesn't see them.

And i started to [b]IMPORT ONE MORE TIME. with:

How to store data (in tdm files)

I'm looking for advice on how to store data in tdm/tdx files.
The main challenge is like this: At regular time intervals there is new data available (say every 10 minutes there are 10 minutes of new data available). All data is time based. So every ten minutes I may create a new tdm/tdx file containing this data segment. However, when i want to analyze the data i dont necessarily want to view 10 minutes of data from all channels, but maybe 20 hours of data from one particular channel.
The way I've achieved this so far is to manually load each 10 minute segment of this particular channel and then add these parts together. This is both time consuming and cumbersome. Is there a better way to do this that I've simply not discovered yet? Is there a better way to store data to simplify this process?
One solution is of course to save data from several 10-minute frames in one file, but seeing as there is a never ending supply of data i cant simply save all data in one giant file, it has to be split up at some point, and the problem will still remain.
One factor to have in mind here is that this is rather large amounts of data (maybe 10GB each day), so the option to simply load all the data into memory goes out the window rather quickly.

If your test ever ended, and if you had LabVIEW 8.20 or higher, I would recommend using a TDMS file, which handles data appeands flawlessly. DIAdem 10.1 now also does data reduction and index windowing during file loading for TDM / TDMS / DataPlugin files, so that you could easily load out only the part of the file you wanted to look at. But since you describe your data acquisition as never stopping and amassing 10 GB per day, I agree that it would be impractical to use only 1 data file. So we are stuck with some number of files which each contain a part of your measurement. This approach can have advantages, since you can save operational properties for each "buffer" such as average value, dominant frequency, ambient room temperature, etc., and later on you can use the DataFinder to query out only the data buffers which meet specific conditions based on these properties. The problem remains to load and assemble data based on multiple files. This is an old problem in DIAdem, and one for which I have an efficient and I hope satisfactory workaround application. It does what you describe already doing in the minimum amount of time and with the minimum amount of user interaction, and it can be highly parametrized to suit your particular situation. The ideal way to start the application would be as part of a ResultsList custom menu. This would enable you to query out the buffers you wanted, highlight those rows in the ResultsList, right-click and choose your custom menu, and WHAM! the selected buffers for your queried channel(s) are automatically appended together in the DataPortal. Launching from a ResultsList custom menu would mean that you could skip the file dialog and just read out the data sources directly from the ResultsList selection.

I didn't look closely enough last time. The above is illogical. The parsestring function parses a string based on a delimiter.
The function has these arguments:
String to Parse
How many fields are in the string
The parsed field to return
Field delimiter
In the above, strField is returning the field specified in your import format. You are also saying that there is a total of 1 field. If that were the case, you wouldn't need to parse anything.
I am guessing that your call needs to look something more like this:
strAcc = DW.Utilities.fParseString (*strRecord*, *8*, 1, chr(9))
Make sense?
If not, maybe you can include a few sample lines from your data file and that will make it easier to help you.

Error: An error occurred while skipping data rows

I am constantly getting error message “Error: An error occurred while skipping data rows”. Here is my scenario:
I am pulling data from a text flat file which is Vertical Bar {|} delimited. My data source files naturally come without headers (no column names on first row). So what I did to bypass
this is –
I used a control file to supply the header names when I developed my package. This control file’s column names have corresponding column order used in the data source files.
I then added an expression to my Flat File Connection Manager so that the system should automatically pick up new incoming files (files without headers).
Now when I try to run my package I am receiving “Error: An error occurred while skipping data rows”. Could this be due to the fact that the system is expecting the column names which I
entered when I developed the package while this new file does not have any headers, or could it be something different? There is very little information on the internet about this kind of error message. The only meaningful information that I have found is

I have managed to address my problem. I did not have to manually enter some nearly 2000 column names by hand. Here is what I have done. I will explain it in detail for the benefit of those who might face the same problem but have no answers on how to work
around it.
I have maintained the column names from the control file because it was important for me to do this in the interest of some data flow components further down the pipeline. It therefore means that my package Flat File Source components have column names
on both the External Column and Output Column sides.
When I configured the Flat Files Source component using the control file I left the option “Column names in the first row” ticked as shown in the picture below. This is the default selection from Microsoft.
I then went to my flat file connection manager; right clicked it and selected “Properties” to get something like shown below. You will notice that property “ColumnNamesInFirstRow” is down as “True” because when configuring my flat file manager I left
that selection ticked. To address my problem I changed property “ColumnNamesInFirstRow” from “True” to “False” and saved my package. This means that during runtime the package will not use the first row as column names but will use the already predefined
column names which I entered from the control file. Please note that selecting the option of not using the first row as column names should be done from the Properties selection instead of the Flat File Source component. Changing this property from the Flat
File Source component automatically changes all the metadata whereas doing this from the Properties selection leaves the metadata on the Flat File Source component unchanged.

How to skip selection screen? Please help!

Hi Experts,
       I have a report program that has a default selection screen (1000) and ALV output. First selection screen is displayed and on execution ALV is shown.
My requirement is, if the user is not authorized to run this report then selection screen should be skipped and instead display a error page. This error page is nothing but some write statements in ABAP displaying error icon and error info.
Currently I have written the authorization check in the INITIALIZATION event. Here I am setting a flag if the user is not authorized followed by "write" statements showing error info.
But when I run the report, error info is not displayed and instead selection screen loads even though the user is not authorized. I have written the selection screen code in the TOP include.
So what shall I do? How to skip the selection screen?
Are there any other better ways to handle my case?

How to skip the header rows of the file using UTL_FILE?

I created a procedure to read the file from shared location using UTl_FILE package. But, I stucked why because I don't know how to skip the header rows as those rows are headings for one of the report.Since, please help me.

Vissu.....UTL_FILE just reads data from the file. It has no concept of what could be a "header" or "body" or "records" or "footer" or any other data based concept. If you want to skip lines of a file, you will just need to read them using UTL_FILE and ignore them.

How to filter data in DTP

Hi guys,
I'd need your help to guide me with this requirement:
I have an infocube A with CO data. I must copy some of the data from this infocube A to other infocube B. But I don't want to copy all the data, just want to select only those lines that the costcenter exist in a Z table and skip the others lines.
I guess I should use and ABAP routine into the DTP filters that reads the costcenter for each line of Infocube A, checks if that costcenter is into the Z table and in case it is not, skip the line. Since I'm not an ABAPer I don't have a clue on how to skip the lines and unfortunately I don't have a developer by my side... So your help will be highy appreciated. If you also know of a better approach to get the same result please let me know!

You have to write code in transformation start routine. I dont think you can write in DTP filter.
Code will be something like this. Consider -
Info-object - 0COSTCENTER
Table - ZCOST & field - ZCCENTER
Code in global start routine -
DATA ITAB1 LIKE STANDARD TABLE OF ZCOST.
SELECT * FROM ZCOST INTO TABLE ITAB1.
SORT ITAB1 BY ZCCENTER.
Code in method Start_Routine
LOOP AT SOURCE_PACKAGE.
READ TABLE ITAB1 WITH KEY ZCCENTER = SOURCE_PACKAGE-COSTCENTER BINARY SEARCH.
        IF SY-SUBRC NE 0.
            DELETE SOURCE_PACAKGE.

How to skip text files in sql table ?

Hi,
I am using 10g developer suite. How to skip the record in to sql table from txt file ? Table has primary key concept.
At present I am skipping the record via sql loader. Is there any way in the forms like plsql coding ?

So I'm guessing you are loading a text file into a database table using SQL*Loader and using the skip funcionality to skip records you don't want loaded. Now you want to do something similar in PL/SQL?
You could take a look at External Tables which will allow you to specify the text file as an external table and skip rows just the same as SQL*Loader, but you can query directly from it, or you could go the long winded way about it and use the UTL_FILE package to open the file, read lines of data and process those lines yourself choosing whether to skip lines and which ones you want to insert into a table etc.

How can skip other pages in smart forms ?

This always used to work with ''Ctrl + Enter'', but now i've upgraded to the newest Pages, this doesn't work anymore, this is actually driving me mad and i can't find anywhere how to skip to a new page.. this is really anoying when working with big files where i have to change things on certain pages.

Pages 5.1 is a bug - ridden disaster lacking about 100 features present in Pages 09. There are many complaints of data loss, corrupted Filene, docs that can't be opened etc. do not use it for any serious work. Pages 09 should still be on your system. Use that instead
