To skip songs in shuffle mode for the ipod nano:
On the click wheel,on the left and right are the fast foward or rewind buttons. You use those to skip songs in shuffle mode. If you hold on to them, it skips to further or back into your song.

  • Skip Songs in Shuffle Mode

My son got a Nano in April. We are very new to this technology. He tells me he used to be able to skip songs in shuffle mode. Now he says he can't. I tried the fast forward on the right side of the circle but, it does not skip the song. What are we doing wrong?

  • Skipped songs in shuffle mode

Hi . . . for some reason my IPOD now skips randomly and I'm not sure why.
I used to be able to choose the shuffle song option and it would play all songs in random order but now for example it will go from playing song 1 of 396 and then if I press the next button it will skip 2 thru 6 and play song number 7 ??
I've tried to reset my IPOD but still the problem exists.
    please help.
    Thank you
    Thanks

The key is keeping podcasts out of Music playlists. This requires using Playlist based synching for loading the iPod, and then making sure podcasts don't get loaded into those playlists.
If you use Smart Playlists, add qualifier "Podcast" "is" "false".
For manual playlists, you can verify it contains no podcasts by turning on the Search Bar (ctrl-shift-b) for each playlist, selecting "podcast" in the bar, and removing those entries from the playlist.

  • How to relocate songs in batch mode?

All of my iTunes Playlists show an exclamation point next to each of the songs in the Playlist. This means they cannot be located. While I can locate the various files that each are located in and replace each one in the Playlist, this is very time consuming to do them one by one.
Is there a way, within iTunes, to highlight a group of songs and have them find the new location to get rid of the exclamation mark?
    Thanks

  • How do i fix my ipod touch from skipping songs ? shuffle is shut off

my ipod touch is skipping songs and shuffle is off . how do i fix this ?

    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync and resync all music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

  • Excluding songs from shuffle mode

I enjoy listening to my library in the shuffle mode but am having trouble removing certain items (itrip stations, my 14 month old daughter's baby einstein music, etc.) from the shuffle. The library is too large to create a smart playlist. I have attempted the -get info, options, skip when shuffling route-for every unwanted selection but the songs and stations still appear in the shuffle mode. Is there a way to accomplish this without unchecking the songs? I have searched every tutorial and exhausted all of my support help. Thanks.

I have gone in under info, options, skip when shuffling for each song and updated the ipod afterward but the skipped songs keep getting into the shuffle. I'm not sure how to skip songs on the ipod itself as you suggested, I'll look into it. Thanks for your time and input.

  • Browsing songs in shuffle mode on classic ipod

i primarily use my ipod as a car stereo in shuffle mode. is there any setting or application that i can put on that will allow me to jump straight to the current song that is playing when i press menu rather than the song i first selected?
for example a song by a certain artist comes up on random but i want to hear a song that i know is nearby in the list and i dont want to have to scroll through thousands of songs to get there.
    cheers

I am confused by your post. By skipping songs, do you mean that the playlist ends without those songs playing at all? Or are you saying that all of the songs do eventually play but they are skipped and played in a 'random' order? That, by definition is shuffling, hence my confusion.
I don't mean to be flippant. Just seeking clarification.

  • Ipod not skipping songs in shuffle

I seem to have the opposite problem as most in the shuffle mode.  I have marked all of my holiday songs to skip in shuffle mode, multiple times now, but a few songs continue to play when I hit Shuffle.  Any ideas?

You haven't actually set some songs to skip when shuffling
You have two copies of a song that plays in shuffle mode - one copy set to skip when shuffling, and the other one is not and this one therefore plays in shuffle mode
You have set skip when shuffling while the iPod is connected to iTunes, and that change to skip has not been synchronised with the iPod
If a song plays in shuffle mode when you think it should not do so, check the setting for the song in your iTunes Library to make sure it's the way you want. Make sure you select just the one song, do not check multiple items while trying to resolve this issue.

  • Grouping Songs in Shuffle mode?

Does anyone know if there's a way to "link" or group songs together so when in shuffle mode they play one after another? I have some songs that are multiple parts and are saved as multiple files(like many classical pieces are), but I don't ever want to here just a single part or section when in shuffle mode.
    Len

Further to Len's post, can anyone give me some tips on exactly how to rip and link songs or parts of songs to create one track that can then be shuffled on iPod (I have the same problem as Len). Can this be done in iTunes, or do I need some other software? Can you recommend any, if that's the case?
Isn't it a bit odd that iTunes has the ability to shuffle groupings but the iPod doesnt?
    Thanks

  • Playing concurrently recorded songs in shuffle mode.

Help! Is there a way to play songs concurrently that were recorded concurrently while the Ipod is in shuffle mode? Example: Van Halen's "Eruption" going into "You Really Got Me", or the Beatles-Abbey Road medley with "Sun King""Mean Mr. Mustard""Polythene Pam""She Came In Through The Bathroom Window"

Yes... One way I found is to fuse all the files of a medley into one file. Find the files in explorer. Open the files of the medley in notepad. What is seen in notepad makes no sense, but it is the content of the files. Just copy and paste, fitting the medley into one notepad. Then save. It saves beautifully av a mp3 file without any fuss. Import the file into iTunes, call it the medley name and you're done.

  • Sequential songs in Shuffle mode?

I have several songs with intros on another track, is there a way I can make them play in sequence as one track when in Shuffle mode?

Same problem here to an extent. Some info:
    First iteration iPod shuffle 3G
    iPod firmware 1.1
    iTunes 9.0.3 on Windows XP
I started out with one big playlist like I used to use on my previous shuffle, this played in order.
I loaded multiple (many, actually) playlists and also added music by artist, this seemed to negate the playlists that were on there. The playlist menu only says "All Songs" now. Songs don't play in order even with the switch in the "in order" position. Mayhem in other words.
So I removed everything that wasn't a playlist, and now I'm back to having playlists again and songs do play in order.
Logic seems to say that if you add music that isn't part of a playlist, it does 2 things:
    1. You can't scroll through playlists anymore because they don't show up in the menu (it just says "All Songs").
    2. Songs don't play in order.
Not a super duper good start with this one, maybe it will get fixed at some point though... Or maybe I'm doing something wrong?
Despite the name "shuffle", I do want to listen to songs in order as they show up on albums.

  • My iPod hang when I skip the song in shuffle mode

I always use shuffle songs and skip to find the song I wanted. I have used it for 11 months and this month my iPod hang oftenly. I send it to apple care in Thailand. They take 4 days and call me to get my iPod back. They said "There is no problem with my iPod". After I play it in the same way for a while, it hang again.
I have called my local support. They told me that iPod is not designed to use like that. We cannot use shuffle songs and skip the song oftenly. I do not think the iPod do not support this. I used it for 11 months and have no problem. When I have the problem, they say I cannot use like this.
Is there anyone find this problem? In shuffle songs mode, using skip oftenly. I would like to double check this problem before send it to apple again.
    Thanks.

    Hi tokepi,
I'm having exactly the same problem, and after upgrading to the latest iTunes Version it has gotten worse.
I'm trying to find the software to reformat the hard drive of the iPod as my suspicion is that the hard drive has errors on it, hence why the songs hang or skip to the next track.
Unfortunately I've been unable to find the utilities to reformat the drive, but I guess that Apple must have the ability to do it, or replace the drive.
Make sure you keep all communications with Apple as your iPoad should still be under 12 months warranty, and so if defective they should replace it free of charge.
Good luck and let me know if they get it fixed!

  • I have a ipod nano, and I bought a Bose portable sound system, when I put my ipod in the unit and play my songs in shuffle mode, it plays the same song over and over, how do I get it to play in shuffle mode?

I have a ipod nano, and I purchased a Bose portable sound system to play my ipod on
but it will not shuffle the music, it will play the same song over and over, until I hit the
next song on the remote or do it manually. Does anybody have a solution?????

Sounds like the repeat setting has been enabled.  See your iPod's User Guide for information on how to turn it off.

  • How to exclude songs from shuffle on multiple devices?

Hi - I just successfully excluded Chirstmas songs from the list of songs that play during 'shuffle' on my work computer by using 'Get info' and 'options' (thanks to this support community - thanks!).  Now, how do I make this apply to my other devices that aren't computers (iPod, iPod nano)?  If I plug the other devices into my work computer and accept whatever syncing options pop up, will that do it?  I just want to be able to shuffle without hearing 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' in June.  Thanks for any help.

I would use playlists for this, and then shuffle the playlist not, the whole collection of songs...
I also use the recommendations of this blog to shuffle through my mp3 colleciton (since it is larger than what the ipod can store.
check both this links for recommendations

Smart lists are a Godsend. I use it to set playlists with only my music (my wife's music is also int he same library). It justs works...
