How to specify HTML meta tags?

I'm trying to get a portal to always have the following an HTML meta tag in the head of the generated HTML:
<meta name="ROBOTS" content="NOFOLLOW" />
I haven't seen any documentation about doing this in particular, but looking at some of the XML schema (*.xsd) files in various weblogic-specific jars, it seems like maybe the following would work in the <netuix:head> tag of the .portal configuration file for the portal:
<netuix:head>
<netuix:meta name="ROBOTS" content="NOFOLLOW" />
</netuix:head>
However, this does not seem to work.
Also, I've checked the skin.properties file to see if there are any comments about how to specify meta tags, but there aren't any.

Turns out there are a number of ways to do this. A BEA consultant recommended modifying the "head.jsp" for the portal's skin.
Alternatively, it dawned on me that all I had to do was put the meta tags in a jsp and use that jsp in the head area of the .portal file. For example:
<netuix:head>
<netuix:jspContent contentUri="/resources/jsp/customHead.jsp"/>
</netuix:head>

    META TAGS? How do I change meta tags while designing my website in iweb?

    I've designed a new website using iWeb. (I'm a beginner and have never done this before.) I published it to MobileMe. The site is for a volunteer organization, which requires that all pictures and images have text tags. (For this purpose, I assume that's the same as Meta tags.) A rep at the local Apple store clued me into iWebSEO Tool ("SEO"). I used it successfully got all my pictures and images tagged, altho it was hard and took a few hours. This was two months ago. I checked my site earlier this week and all the tags have disappeared. I went back to SEO and all my original work was still there. So I hit re-apply and then saved and republished my site. Still no tags. I have several questions. Is this a regular problem with SEO? Do I have to do all the tags over again? Is there any easier solution? Is Apple going to improve iWeb so this is not a problem in the future? I'll appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.

  • Sorry about first try : how to avoid html-text tag converting & to & amp;

    subject
    how to avoid html:text tag converting "&" to "& amp;"?
    body
    hi,
    i have some values on DB like "& #351;" and when i use html:text to
    show binding's value, html:text converts "&" to "& amp;". in generated
    html, it looks like "& amp;#351;".
    how to avoid this conversion?
    thanks...
    Ayhan Gngr
    note: i use white-space among special characters because browser renders them. ex : (& amp; to &)

    hi, i use property attribute of html:text.
    property is declared in UIModel xml file.
    i mean, i don't use something like
    <html:text value="data"/>i use just like
    <html:text property="bindingName"/>and value is shown in generated html input tag as value.
    html:text has no attribute like filter.
    i think i should override html:text tag, and create a new tag that checks if value includes "& #351;" this type data. If there is, don't convert "&" to "& amp;"?
    any suggestions?
    thanks...

  • How do I add Meta tags to my website

    I have produced a website in i web and published it to my .mac account.
    I need to know how to add meta tags to get it recognised by the search engines.
    The company I am using to do this want the ftp info. As I upload directly to my .mac account I am not sure what they need. Can you help please?

    I think I may have a good workaround here, not sure how it will work with .mac as I dont use it, I am in control of my default page within Apache.
    Create your site as normal within Iweb and publish it.
    Outside of iWeb create your site's real default homepage by hand, that contains the meta tags and that redirects to your iWeb homepage. In this way any Search engine hits to your site will hit the external page first, reading the meta tags then get redirected to your real home page. Not ideal of course but at least you don't have to keep an eye on your metatag's being overwritten by republishing your homepage.
    Here is the code from mine, it appears to work:
    +<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://+
    +www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head><title></t+
    +itle><meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url= Welcome.html" />+
    +<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="enter,your,keywords,here">
    +<META NAME="description" CONTENT="description of your website">+
    </head><body></body></html>
    This page will redirect to the "Welcome.html" page created in iWeb.
    Hope this helps.

  • Custom HTML meta tags in head section

    We want to add custom HTML code to our html-type (HTMLHelp,
    FlashHelp, WebHelp) output.
    We know how to add HTML code to the <body> section, by
    selecting from RoboHelp's main top menu "Insert > HTML".
    We also know how to add HTML code to multiple topics at once,
    by adding the HTML code to the header and/or footer or a template,
    and linking the relevant topics to that template.
    We now want to add HTML code (in particular, custom META
    tags) to the <head> section. However, it appears that the
    content of the template header appears in the <body> section.
    Of course, we could run a search-and-replace-all on our
    existing topics, to replace existing HTML code on the <head>
    section with our custom code. But we would need to remember to do
    this each time we add a new topic. It is not a big deal, but this
    does not seem to be a very efficient way of doing this.
    We figure that there must be some type of collection of
    HTML-templates that RoboHelp uses each time a new topic is created,
    to automatically insert some standard HTML code. But, do we have
    easy access to such HTML-templates? Where are they stored?
    Thanks for you help!

    Have you tried working in the "True Code" editor? This seems
    to be all you need to do.

  • How about adding a meta tag to the index file.....

    This is another way to get verified with Google and other search engines. Does anyone know a way that you could add a meta tag to the index file generated by iweb??
    Thanks for any help....Matt
    http://www.want2takecredit.com

    I'm glad it worked. Nevertheless you might think of uploading an html file as well. The index.html sometimes gets overwritten by iweb, thus the meta-tag would disappear and you would have to do it again. The html file instead stays where it is.
    Here's how to procede:
    When they will ask you to verify that it really is your website. “Choose verification method” select “Upload an HTML file” and now you will have to build that verification file (here’s a How-to by Roddy).
    1. Go to your applications folder and launch Text Edit.
    2. Don't put anything on the blank page.
    3. Select File/Save As.
    4. In the popup window "Save As" box enter your Google number (something like google05a23d347cXXXXXX )
    5. In the "Where" box select desktop.
    6. In "File Format" menu select HTML.
    7. Click "Save".
    8. A file will appear on your desktop called google05a23d347cXXXXXX.html
    9. This is what you upload to your server or iDisk.
    Upload that file to your main folder on your server so that it will be http://www.yoururl.com/google05a23d347cXXXXXX.html (not in the subfolder of the Sites folder named with the title of your site...*).
    For .Mac go to the Finder menu and select Go/iDisk/My iDisk/ or hit SchiftCommand(Apple)i and then go to /Web/Sites/. Drop your file into the "Sites" folder
    Entering: http://web.mac.com/username/google05a23d347cXXXXXX.html in your browser should bring up this file. If it doesn’t you placed the file in the wrong location.
    Entering: http://yourbaseurl.com/google05a23d347cXXXXXX.html in your browser should bring up this file. If it doesn’t you placed the file in the wrong location.

  • How do I add Meta tags to pages?

    Is it possible to add meta tag information for the pages (such as keywords, description, robots, etc.) directly in Muse?
    I'd like to add meta tag data to describe the page to help with search engine optimization.

    I found a lot of useful information on here: http://www.muse-themes.com/blogs/news/6103624-seo-in-adobe-muse-search-engine-optimization #comments
    However I would like to know: If you have multiple pages dealing with different topics does one need to adjust the meta-data accordingly for each page.
    For example, I am redoing a website for a small earthmoving contractor who offers a range of services including new lawn installation (NOT mowing!), drainage, landscaping, post hole boring, driveways - to name a few; these are essentially the main pages with content explaining each service a little further.
    So would I be correct in assuming I should have a unique description, keywords and (obviously) page title for each page?
    How about the home page? Should the metadata attempt to cover all services offered within the website as a whole, or just the content of the home page?
    Thanks in advance!

  • IPhone HTML meta tags

    I have been developing a mobile website for the past year. Up until the last test on my iPhone, which was today, the website would adjust to the iPhone's browser size. I accomplished this using a meta tag in the HTML.
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width,user-scalable=no">
    For an unknown reason (the code has not been altered, I have even tried uploading backups) the meta tag is completely ignored by the iPhone browser.
    *What could possibly be wrong?*
    NOTE: Today was the first test since I updated by iPhone firmware to 3.1.3. I also tested it on another 3.1.3 device with the same problem. I thought it might be a bug in the new firmware.

    Other iPhone compatible websites are working perfectly. I compared source code, I found nothing. Nothing is wrong with my code as it was working before. I tested about 4 different backups. None of them are working. The mystery is that there is a problem with my website, but no problem with the source code.
    Here is the source code for one page:
    Check this link because I wasn't able to post the source code, the link is an image.

  • HTML Meta Tags in Portal Component

    Hi,
    I have created a portal component and would like to add in <meta> tags into the head of my html document. I have a jsp using the hbj:documentHead tag to add meta tags to the html.
    However, when the page is rendered, the <meta> tags appear in the <body> instead of the <head>.  Is this a bug in the portal?
    Thanks in advance.
    Nick Mitchell

    You could probably hack it by using extending  AbstractPortal and overwriting for example doOnNodeReady ( http://media.sdn.sap.com/html/submitted_docs/60_sp2_javadocs/runtime/com/sapportals/portal/prt/component/AbstractPortalComponent.html )
    Why do you need the meta information ?

  • How to use HTML 'pre' tag in ADF pages

    Hi,
    I am using adf 11.1.1.6.0 and trying to print some formatted text from log files. It can contain either xml / log file with new lines / tabs.
    When I use hte UIX / Regular jsp, I am able to use the <pre> tag and retain the output format form end user.
    When I am migrated the same application to ADF, I am not able to get the desired output format.
    Here are my trials:
    <af:outputYext> with escape="true" : Entire output is displayed in a single paragraph. All new line/formatting has gone.
    <af:outputYext> with escape="false" : Page itself is not painting as the logout put has some special characters.
    <af:richTextEditor> readonly = true : Taking out all xml tags with in the output log
    I tried with f:verbatim as shown
    <f:verbatim><pre> </f:verbatim>
    #{dojStep.displayStepOutput}
    <f:verbatim></pre></f:verbatim>
    In this case, I get the following error: "End tag does not match start tag 'pre'."
    Can you please suggest the alternative to use the html pre tag in ADF world to print the el expression data as it is.
    Thanks,
    -Jaya.

    Hi,
    have a outputText.. with escape="false"
    and in #{dojStep.displayStepOutput} have it like this
      public String displayStepOutput(){
    StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
    sb.append("<pre>");
    sb.append("your text");
    sb.append("</pre>");
    return sb.toString();
    }example-
    <af:outputText value="#{dojStep.displayStepOutput}"/>

  • How to Add  Multiple Meta tags?

    I work for a large state educational orgranization that needs
    to add meta tags to the header as part of the
    Dublin Core Metadata Initiative.
    In this case, not having meta tags is not an option.
    The meta data has to be unique to each page. Using the
    Keywords / Description parameters provided in the menu will not
    work.
    Hacking the "ccKeywordsAndDescription.js"
    "ccKeywordsAndDescription.htm" files is not an option as different
    meta data tags are required on each page and sometimes several of
    the same meta data tags are required on one page
    (ex: <meta name="DC.Subject" scheme="Keyword"
    content="####">
    Because of this, adding a template parameter for each
    editable meta data tag appears not to work as well.
    This issue was brought up once before in this form by some
    one else but not answered. I figured I would check again.

    It does not look like this is doable within Contribute, so we
    are going outside for a solution.
    The users create the page they need in Contribute from a
    template with an editable region in the header. Then the users go
    back in to the page with a Meta tag creation program called Tag Gen
    which has the same editable region defined in its preferences. They
    can add the needed tags save and close the page without ever
    dealing with the page code. Then they go back into Contribute to
    publish the page.
    It is kind of alot of Micky Mouse work but it is the only
    solution we could find.
