How to Split Master File into Multiple Small Files?

Sorry if this has been addressed - I'm having a hard time finding the answer.
I'm using FCE 4.0. I taped 4 hours of material and need to deliver the footage to someone in discrete chunks. I tried to do in/out capture but for some reason that wasn't working - something to do with the timecode. So I did full tape dumps.
So now I have 4 huge files (4 miniDV tapes) that are too big to deliver as-is. I used DV Start/Stop Detect to set markers, then used that to create sub-clips. But of course this doesn't actually affect the master scratch files.
What's the best way to convert these sub-clips to individual mov files? If I do an export of each file ("Using QuickTime Conversion..."), don't I risk losing information or possibly quality? Isn't there some way to highlight all my sub-clips in the bin and say "Mega-Chop Activate!" or something?
Or, taking a step or two back, if there's another way I should've approached this, please let me know. There'll be more. Plenty more.
Thank you.

I'm burning mov source to DVD for FC editing by someone else.
Your second set of questions actually gives me some ideas - that's exactly what I'm trying to figure out.
As an example, let's say 1 tape, i.e. 1 master file, holds 5 interviews. I want to deliver 5 individual files/clips, say 3 on DVD A, 2 on DVD B. (Assume for the sake of argument that the math works out and there's no other way to deliver this.)
- Does creating a different project for each "chunk" result in a different file in the scratch folder that can be burned to DVD?
- Does "Print to Video" create QT files? I thought this output back onto tape.
- By "Export to QuickTime" are you referring to Export->QuickTime Movie (as opposed to Export->Using QuickTime Conversion)?
- Does Export->QuickTime Movie result in lossy conversion or does it automatically retain the original capture quality?
- Is there a way to do all 5 exports at once or must they be done individually?
Thanks for the fast response!

  • How to Split 1 Order into Multiple Deliveries based on Partner Function ?

    Hello,
How can I split one Sales Order into multiple deliveries, based on the partner function "managed by" ?
The requirement is that one order will be created for different "managed by".
If partner function "managed by" is same at line item level in order, than the items having same "managed by" can be combined in one delivery, else delivery will split and multiple deliveries will be created from 1 Order.

    Hi,
You need to create a new requirement in tcode VOFM for that, together with your ABAP consultant. This requirement will be used in copy contol.

  • How to split pdf files also how to downsize a pdf file?

how to split pdf files also how to downsize a pdf file?

    Hi Ali,
If the PDF file you're starting with is larger than 100MB, ExportPDF won't be able to convert it.
To convert a file of that size and to create separate files, you'll need Adobe Acrobat.  You'd need Acrobat to divide the file into smaller chunks for ExportPDF anyhow, so Acrobat is probably the best solution for you.  You can learn more about Acrobat here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html

    Hi Experts,

    Control Record
    Data Record
    Segment 1
    Segment 2
    Segment 3
    Status Record
I should get output like below
    Inbound:
    ZIdocName
    Control Record
    Data Record
    Segment 1
    Status Record
    ZIdocName
    Control Record
    Data Record
    Segment 2
    Status Record
    ZIdocName
    Control Record
    Data Record
    Segment 3
    Status Record
Please suggest me step by step process to achieve this task.
    Thanks.

Thanks a lot Harish for reply.
I have small doubt. According to your reply , If we have N number of segments in single IDOC with same fields in all segments then for splitting Single IDOC into Multiple IDOC's based on Segment Type we need to duplicate N number of target IDOC tree structure.
Is that possible to Split single IDOC into Multiple IDOC's based on Segment Type using only one Target IDOC structure without duplicating the Target IDOC structure tree.

  • PRE9: How to split one clip into two (or more) clips?

I can't believe this is so hard to do... But HOW?

You don't necessarily need to separate the file into individual clips.  When you do a cut on the timeline, this is a virtual cut, leaving the original file untouched but determining what will appear in the output.  You can split the clip into multiple pieces, delete the bits you don't want, add transitions, insert new bits, whatever you want, all without affecting the original file in any way.  Once you're happy, you output a new file using the Share options, and you get a new video file, with your original files still untouched.
If you want to split your file into multiple individual files, you can use the sliders on the time scale, and export (Share) using the Share Work Area Only checkbox.  If you're doing this for purposes of reassembly, it would be better to save the individual clips in as lossless a format as possible, the default AVI format taking considerably more space but not losing quality.  Hint: the sliders can be positioned to the time marker using Alt-[ and Alt-].  Once you've done this, note that your original file will still be there, untouched.
There is also VideoRedo Plus, a cheap program which gives frame-accurate selection and allows rapid subdivision of a piece of footage.  It doesn't re-render as PE9 would (this is where loss of image quality creeps in using compressed formats such as MPEG), copying the original frames.  You can then reassemble the bits using your video editor.

  • How to split one request into many to reduce response time

    Hi,
In a request I may get more than 20-30 materials for which, pricing info need to be returned. Its increasing the load on SAP and XI is not waiting for a long time to get the price. Please let me know a work around for this otherthan BPM.
Or is there any mechanism by which I can split the XML into multiple XMLs and process multi small requests.
    Thanks
    Seshu

    Hi Seshu -
Timeouts can be tricky in synchronous cases with all the various components of XI.  In your case, you've implied that the RFC receiver adapter is being used to talk to SAP and it's taking a long time for SAP to process this request and send back a response.  Are you getting a '...MessageExpiredException'?  If so, the parameter 'xiadapter.inbound.timeout.default' in the 'SAP XI Adapter: XI' J2EE service would be relevant (see Note 791379 for details).  The 'syncMessageDeliveryTimeoutMsec' parameter of the 'SAP XI Adapter: RFC' J2EE service is only relevant if you're using the RFC sender adapter.
Other timeout settings may come into play.  <a href="http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700005909032005E/XI30XI70_TroubleGuide.pdf">The XI Troubleshooting guide</a> has some good information on this.
Also, if this scenario is required to be synchronous, there's no way to split the request without using BPM as synchronous requests cannot be sent to multiple receivers.

    Jin

  • Split the IDOC into multiple IDOC if the IDOC has more than 500 records

    Hi All,
I developed an outbound IDOC in which we are facing an issue.
There is some limitation on the maximum idoc size it can handle.
If number of records is more than 500, split the idoc into multiple iDoc's, e.g. if it would have 1300 records , the result would be 2 iDoc's with 500 records, and the last one would have 300 records
    How can i acheive this.
    Regards
    Jai

    Hi,
    1) first you need to know which message type/Idoc type you are triggering.
    2) Get the Corresponding processcode from Partner profiles(WE20/ WE41).
    3) Then the look for prper user-exit in the related processing FM.
    4) write logic to split the IDoc accordingly.
if no proper user exit available then copy the standard processing FM and need to all ALE related configurations.
Catch hold any ABAP expert in your team to do all these.

As a far I understood from your example ,
    I have few questions...
    1. You have information about the patient in a 1 source table.
    2. how u are identifying for patient X u need 5 rows to be created. R u storing these informations in seprate table or how ...
    3. if you have these information in a seperate tables ..... a simple cross join in ODI should get you the expected result.....
Or give some more information with a example ..that would be great ...

  • Split one row into multiple columns

    Hi,
Data in one CLOB column in a table storing with delimiter, ##~~##. Ex. ##~~##abc##~~##defgh##~~##ijklm##~~##nopqr (data starts with delimiter). Please help me to split the data into multiple rows like below and it should be in the same order.
    abc
    defgh
    ijklm
    nopqr
    I am using Oracle 11g.
    Thanks.

Thanks Hoek for your response. Before posting my question in the forum, I tried similar query. It is working with one character as delimiter.
with test as (select 'ABC,DEF,GHI,JKL,MNO' str from dual )
    select regexp_substr (str, '[^,]+', 1, rownum) split
    from test
    connect by level <= length (regexp_replace (str, '[^,]+')) + 1;
Above query is giving correct result by fetching 5 rows. I have modified the query like below...
with test as (select 'ABC,,,DEF,,,GHI,,,JKL,,,MNO' str from dual )
    select regexp_substr (str, '[^,,,]+', 1, rownum) split
    from test
    connect by level <= length (regexp_replace (str, '[^,,,]+')) + 1;
Above query resulting 13 rows and last 8 rows are nulls. Number of null rows are increasing, if I increase number of characters in delimiter. Could you please tell me how to avoid those null rows.
    Thanks.

  • How to split one page into different frames in ADF?

    Hi,
Can any one please guide me how to split a jspx into different frames.
i.e., left frame contains <af:panelSideBar> which contains multiple <af:commandMenuItem> s. And whenver we click on the one <af:commandMenuItem>, it has to show the corresponing page inside center frame in this page itself. Is it possible in ADF? Which component we need to use?
Can anyone guide me on this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Suresh Kethireddy

You can use a combination of the ADF Faces 10.1.3 components like:
    af:panelPage
    af:panelSideBar
    af:panelHorizontal
    af:panelGroup
to organize the screen layout, but it is not the interactive splitter that the 11g product provides.
You can all all the 10.1.3 ADF Faces Components here:

  • Split an image into average small blocks

    Hi Guys:
Is there any easy way for me to Split an image into average small blocks ? like following , i don't want to get the size of the entire image , and computer the x,y,hight, wight for every blocks , then use image extract

    Hi Abodefree,
How many averaged blocks do you need? What size of block (in pixels) are you looking for?
In genersal terms, what is your application -- why do you require the averaged blocks? Are you looking for the brightest quadrant (for example)?
Depending on your application, a convolution filter might be useful...

  • Split single row into multiple rows containing time periods

    Hi,
I have a table with rows like this:
    id, intime, outtime
    1, 2010-01-01 00:10, 2010-01-3 20:00
I would like to split this row into multiple rows, 1 for each 24hr period in the record.
i.e. The above should translate into:
    id, starttime, endtime, period
    1, 2010-01-01 00:10, 2010-01-02 00:10, 1
    1, 2010-01-02 00:10, 2010-01-03 00:10, 2
    1, 2010-01-03 00:10, 2010-01-03 20:00, 3
The first starttime should be the intime and the last endtime should be the outtime.
Is there a way to do this without hard-coding the 24hr periods?
    Thanks,

    http://danieljamesscott.org

Thanks for all the feedback, Dan.
It appears that the respective solutions provided will give you: a) different resultsets and b) different performance.
Regarding your 'truly desired resultset' you haven't answered all questions from my previous post (there are differences in the provided examples), but anyway:
I found that using CEIL or ROUND makes quite a difference, using my 'simple 3 record testset' (30 records vs. 66 records got initially returned, that's less than half of the original). That's quite a difference. However, I must call it a day (since it's almost midnight) for now, so there's room for more optimizement and I haven't thoroughly tested.
But this might hopefully make a difference performancewise when compared to my previous 'dreaded example':
    SQL> drop table t;
    Table dropped.
    SQL> create table  t as
      2  select 1 id, to_date('2010-01-01 00:10', 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi') intime, to_date('2010-01-03 20:00', 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi') outtime from dual union all
      3  select 2 id, to_date('2010-02-01 00:10', 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi') intime, to_date('2010-02-05 20:00', 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi') outtime from dual union all
      4  select 3 id, to_date('2010-03-01 00:10', 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi') intime, to_date('2010-03-03 00:10', 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi') outtime from dual;

    Thanks

    Create 2 internal tables. sat it_header, it_detail
Check for 1st 3 characters and if it is R01 then send it into it_header and if it comes out to be R02 then send it to it_detail.
Once done... You can either attach these tables into mail as two seperate files
Or you can download each internal table using GUI_DOWNLOAD.
    Hope this helps!!
