How to start Windows file chooser?

I don't mean the AWT file chooser FileDialog.
I have seen a Java application use the new Windows file chooser which is used in Windows 2000 and Windows XP. On the left side it has a large bar.
How can I start that new Windows file chooser?

Hello, my name is Silvia.
I'd like to know how to hide that large bar on the left side in the file chooser (jdk 1.4.x).
My problem is about truncated names like 'My Document' (it is shown as 'My Docum...') or 'My Network Place' (it is shown as 'My Networ...').
Should I extend the JFileChooser class? What is the name of 'the large bar on the left side in the file chooser'?
Thank you very much, Silvia.

  • Help! How to start windows in boot camp?

    I have read several posts on this but I still cannot seem to get it started. I recently bought a macbook with bootcamp set up with windows xp. I had vmware fusion on my computer to use windows but I uninstalled it because I cannot use it for the purpose of windows that I need. Now, I do not know how to start windows on my computer. I cannot use a virtual machine because my exam software that I use for school will not start up when using a virtual machine.
    I restart my computer and hold down the option key and the only hard drive that shows up is the Mac HD. The boot camp drive does not show up. So, if I cannot start windows that way...is there any other way???
    THANKS!

    I cannot use a virtual machine because my exam software that I use for school will not start up when using a virtual machine.
    It requires DirectX 9? Huh?
    I restart my computer and hold down the option key and the only hard drive that shows up is the Mac HD.
    That sounds like your computer came with VM Fusion, and was not set up with boot camp. Please prove me wrong.
    First, how many disk icons are on your Mac OS desktop? Is there just the Macintosh HD icon, or is there another disk icon labelled, say, "Untitled" or "Boot Camp".
    Second, open /Applications/Disk Utility. Select your hard drive (not the Macintosh HD volume, but the actual hard drive, just above the Macintosh HD volume). Then click the "partition tab". How many partitions do you have. Does it show one HFS+ Journaled volume, or more than one partition and of what types.
    Third, if you did see a second disk icon in step one, select it and hit CMD-I. What is its used and free space? Open it in Finder: is there a boot.ini file? A Windows folder?
    Fourth--I should have thought of this first, sorry--some MacBooks have a bug that Option doesn't let you select an OS. So open Apple > System Preferences > Startup Disk and see if there is a Windows there for you to select. If so, select it and "reboot now" to boot into Windows. To boot back into Mac OS, you can either use the option key, or use the boot camp system tray icon to select Mac OS as your startup disk.
    Finally, did your computer come with a Windows XP CD?

  • How to start Windows in Bootcamp?

    Hi,
    I have installed Windows succesfully with bootcamp and I do know how to start Windows on start up. But when I restart with the option key held down, select the Windows system and push the button with the straight arrow, Mac Os X starts and not Windows.
    Does anyone have the same problem? And how can I fix this?
    I know that I can also open the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences and then select the Windows system, and restart the computer. But Why doesnt it work on start up?
    Thanks in advance.

    Steps:
    1-Open command prompt with admin mode
    Or Boot from DVD in command prompt mode.(This is what i experienced, able to show the safe mode menu)
    2- Write this command "bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy" and click enter
    3- You can now press F8 while Windows 8 starts in order to access Safe Mode and other Advanced Boot options.

  • How to Start EXE-File from SUD Dialog

    Hello!
    My Problem is: I'm trying to start an exe-file by clicking a button within a SUD-Dialog. Does anybody know how to realize that?
    For example: Run("C:\Windows\Notepad.exe") ?!
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks for you reply!
    Your code worked so far to start Notepad.exe but what I'm trying to do is to start a file, located one folder above my script folder.
    I tried the following...
    dim command : command = "Script Assistent\TSM Script Assistent.NET.exe"
    dim shell : Set shell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    dim status : status = shell.Run(command, 1, true)
    If
    0 <> status ThenErr.Raise6, "", "Command returned error!"
    End If
    ...but then I receive an error message :-/
    The script and the sud-file is located in:
    G:\Script\Scriptfile.vbs + Dialogfile.sud
    The exe I'm trying to start is here:
    G:\Script\Script Assistent\TSM Script Assistent.NET.exe
    What's wrong with that?

  • Auto Start Windows File Services on Boot

    I am trying to figure out how to set a service (specifically Windows File Sharing) to startup automatically on boot. I know when you first set up the server the setup assistant gives you the option to designate which services to start automatically but I cannot figure out how to do this after the fact. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Mac OS X Server 10.4.11

    Most services are enabled/disabled using the Server Admin app. The service named "Windows" allows you to configure and enable Windows file sharing. Once the service is enabled it will start after a reboot. Use Workgroup Manager to configure Windows shares.
    Server Admin and Workgroup Manager can be found in the /Applications/Server/ directory on your server. To make changes from a client machine you will need to install the server admin tools from the server cd's or by downloading them from apple.
    Hope that helps.

    Hi is this looks like a question for Agile A9.
    For Agile A9 or Primavera questions, you can use Oracle Support, Support Communities, Yahoo Groups for Agile API or WRAU.
    This forum is for Agile PLM for Process, which is part of the same Agile family but a different product.
    Thanks.

  • How to start an File- XI- IDOC -Scenario manually?

    Hi,
    we have a File->XI->IDOC -Scenario with a polling time of 60 minutes.
    Now it should be possible, that the enduser can start this scenario manually (by report or something else), because sometimes the user has to edit the file and then he/she cannot wait till the loop restarts.
    How can we manage it?
    Regards
    Wolfgang

    Hi,
    Wow - that's great!
    BUT.... it's working only in XI/2004 >=SPS17. We have PI 700/2004s SPS7
    Do you know the corresponding SPS for this feature in PI 700?
    I wanna ask my admin to upgrade - it's a feature the enduser (special endusers) really needs.
    Thanks a lot!

  • How to Start Executable Files from JavaTM Applications?

    If it is possible to start other executable files, for example EXE or BAT, from a Java application, how can it be done in VC++??
    I can invoke executables (or whatever your OS is willing to execute) via Runtime.exec(). as per JDC member mtj or perhaps try:
    import Java.lang.*;
    import Java.io.*;
    public class RuntimeExecTest {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
    String[] callAndArgs = { "Notepad.exe",
    "D:\\TEMP\\Test.txt" };
    try {
    Process child = rt.exec(callAndArgs);
    child.waitFor();
    System.out.println("Process exit code is:
    " + child.exitValue());
    catch(IOException e) {
    System.err.println(
    "IOException starting process!");
    catch(InterruptedException e) {
    System.err.println(
    "Interrupted waiting for process!");
    But in VC++ on of the method signature is causing the problem:
    public Process exec( String command, String envp[] ) throws IOException
    If I use the above code, I get this error:
    Compiler Error J0122
    Exception 'identifier' not caught or declared by 'identifier'
    Please help
    Thanks

    Yes, it is possible to run both EXEs and BATs with exec().

  • How to transfer windows files from old macbookpro under bootcamp to new notebook

    Hi all,
    I'm currently using both Mac OS and Windows XP on my macbookpro, and I'm buying a new one. I know how to transfer everything on the Mac OS, but how do I do so for the Windows part. Please advise.
    Thanks in advance!

    Drag and drop copy the iTunes folder to a external hard drive on Windows, then take it to the Mac and use iTunes there to import it.
    If you want to read/write the external drive between Mac's and PC's, right click on the drive and format it exFAT or FAT in Windows, not NTFS.
    Some Mac's can read NTFS, but not write to that format as it's proprietary.
    When you format the drive, all data will be erased on it, so make sure before you do so.

  • How to start a "File Sender" in a BPM?

    Hi Experts,
    Is there a way to start/trigger a File sender from a BPM i.e start it from the BPM? Or even trigger a Communication channel in a BPM?
    The scenario is as follows:
    We need to trigger the File Sender only when XI receives an IDoc from SAP.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Tush

    Thanks Prateek,
    Okay let me explain the full scenario, as follows:
    - IDoc sent to XI -> A file is created in the FTP
    - IDoc is triggered through Change pointers and sent to XI
    - Then, we should check the lines (records) of the file(currently in FTP) for the Material number in the IDoc.
        -If the material number is already in the file, replace that record.
        -If the material number is not yet in the file, add a new record.
    Can you please suggest a way in achiving this?
    Many thanks for your help.
    Best regards,
    Tush

  • I've installed windows in boot camp, how do i start windows

    I've Installed windows xp prof. with boot camp and now I'm not sure how to start windows.

    A successfully install should have booted directly to windows. If not restart and hold down the option key and select the windows partition to boot from that.
    Also make sure to insert your leopard disc to install all the drivers as well as the bootcamp utility to switch from one OS to the other.

  • Windows File Sharing behaving differently on 10.4.5 ( iMac vs. Mini Intel)

    I have and iMac and a Mini Mac Intel Duo configured the same:
    jdoe/password/workgroup ( bot Macs have a user name jdoe)
    personal file sharing started
    windows file sharing started with jdoe account enabled
    From the PC I ping both Macs to check network connectivity.
    From the PC command line I use the following command:
    net use i: \\imac\jdoe\Public password /USER:workgroup\jdoe /persistent:no ( works fine )
    net use m: \\minimac\jdoe\Public password /USER:workgroup\jdoe /persistent:no ( logon fails )
    The SMB connection to the iMac always succeed but the Mini Mac fails. Checking the Ethernet trace, I see that as expected Windows sends out SMB/CIFS packets on port 445 but the iMac does not replay so Windows try SMB/CIFS packets on port 139 (netbios) and gets a reply.
    However when attempting to connect to the MiniMac, the MiniMac responds to the first packet on port 445;Hence, WinXP does not attempt port 139.. the negotiation is performed over port 445, but fails authentication.
    A few things bug me about this: Why does one Mac respond to port 445 and the other on 139? Why does the failed negotiation on port 445 seems to progress until the NTLM challenge authentication failure? Is there a password issue between the two Macs? Both are running 10.4.5 out of the box, with no extra software!
    Mini Mac Intel Duo & iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    More notes... If I enable firewall on the MiniMac and allow Windows File Sharing, the Mini Mac only responds on port 139 Not port 445. Good, this is the same as the iMac default behavior, however, the login still fails.
