How to stay logged in on this site?

I log in and navigate around, comment on posts and etc. but I keep having to log back in too much. Is there a way to stay logged in while I'm on the site?

You are using the iPhone to access the forums. However when you do this you will be kicked out after a certain time.
This happens to me often when I reply from the web portal forum pages. I just hit log in again and enter my login and password.
There is no stay alive feature on the iPhone or mobile safari so just use a PC or a tablet like I often do. It then stays active until I choose to log out.
Good Luck

  • Can't stay logged in to this site

Couldn't find a better place to post this so here it is...
I can't stay logged into this forum from my work or home desktop. As soon as I close the browser, I have to log back in. I don't think it's a security setting because I have no trouble staying logged into other forums/sites on either computer. This is the only site I have trouble with. A search revealed a few people with the same problem but no solutions. Also, I didn't see a setting or checkbox to keep me logged in. Any ideas on how I can stay logged in? TIA.

This is surprising. This is the first forum (of many) that I've ever seen that won't allow me to stay logged in. Is there any good reason to do this? One of many Apple quirks I guess. Sometimes I wonder if they do some things just to be different.

  • How to stay logged in to Apple Communities?

    Hi all
I am quite new to the communities/forums.  I am having to log in pretty much every time I re-visit, and I can see no "stay logged in" type option.  Is there a way to stay logged in, or must I go through that at the start of every visit?
    Cheers

Will the prior posters are technically correct, they didn't provide the whole story. Here what I do.  Leave a browser running.  Have one window devoted to apple login.  Run a reload manager in that window.  Here are the full details + other stuff.
Here is my ASC work flow...
    1) I login.
    2) Block the automatic 30 minute logout.
Unless you do something every thirty minutes you get logged out.  The forum software waits to tell you this as long as it can to keep you in suspense  ;-) .
            Start an auto reloader.
    I use Firefox and ReloadEvery.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/reloadevery/
You need to pick a page that will reload over time without stalling out. It's ASC.  I've found my profile display the best to use. I get my Profile page after some  logins.  It's ASC.  Change rccharles to your apple id.
    https://discussions.apple.com/people/rccharles?view=discussions
    Reply technique
Open a new browser window.  Pick some discussion.  Open a reply window.  As long as this reply window is open, you will stay logged in.  The 30 minute times is reset as needed by the ASC software.
    3) I open another window to do my normal ASC browsing.
    4) I have a FireFox bookmark to goto the discussions that I have participated in. I've modified it to add on the content stuff.
turingtest2 recommends. Change rccharles to your apple id:
    https://discussions.apple.com/people/rccharles/content?filterID=participated~obj ecttype~objecttype%5Bthread%5D
    5) Use turingtest2's generated links with the /content suffix as browser bookmark to the ASC discussions:
Site map of Communities and Categories
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2463
    6) Adjust the ASC web page layout.
I run with Hiroto's modification to user content.  This is the only way these forums are readable for me.  How to adjust the format and layout of ASC Web Pages:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-7501
    7) Read and answer my old posts.  I kind of memorize the time I last posted. ( It's way bad that apple eliminated the last poster to a thread. )
    8) I use tabbed browsering.  From a list of discussions, hold down the command key then click on the link. You get two tabs this way. The original window will keep where you have been.

  • Logging in to this site?

How come when I logged in to the site, I got kicked back to the main menu? I bookmarked it for future use.
Is this going to keep happening (I guess I'll find out in the future)? But I'm asking.
    Thanks
    Allan

    Hi Allan!
That seems to have started happening since, the more recent reconstructions of  Discussions.
To circumvent it, I bookmarked the Sign In Page, and I just go there before viewing any Forums.

  • Can't stay logged in on any site

Never had this problem before. I could easily stay logged in to my email, facebook and a few forums but now I have to log in everytime even when i tick the box to stay logged in for 2 weeks. Its very frustrating. I hope someone has some suggestions. Thanks in advance.

It all started after I scanned my computer using ClamXav.
When I'm leaving these sites I often just close the window. I've been doing the same for a long time now and have never had to log back in. Now its after everytime I close a tab or quit Safari. I've tried resetting safari and reentering my usernames and passwords for yahoo mail, facebook and a few forums I use and its the same. Autofill is on and the websites I've tried since resetting are listed there but it won't keep me logged in.

  • How to stop email notifications from this site??

I signed up here a while ago because I needed some help with software on my macbook. As it happens, ever since, I´ve been receiving approximatly one hundred email a day from this forum, general replies to peoples questions here. I have NOT signed up for that, and I have checked NO on all the email notification preferances here. WHAT can be done to stop this extremely annoing email- flow to my gmail? It can´t really be supposed to be like this??
    Thanks
    Hedda, NO

I have done this, here are screenshots of what it actually looks like
As you see, I only have email notifications for my own two posts.. But I still recieve between 50- 100 email every day from the support communities on varoius posts and topics from other users. How can this be? If there is no other places to stop the emails, I need somebody to tell me how to leave this site all together, I can´t have my mailbox filled every day anymore, it´s very annoying.
Please say any of you can help, do you know if there are anyone that actually runs and manages this site that can be contacted about my issue?

  • How to tell Firefox "Okay for THIS site to redirect"?

Websites for huge, bureaucratic corporations sometimes try to redirect the browser to other pages. How do I tell Firefox that this is okay -- for a particular website?

    See:
    * Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"
The setting in "Tools > Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

  • How to stay logged in to ebay

I can't stay logged in to ebay while using safari 5.05. Same problem with previous versions of safari. Move away from the ebay page and you have to log in again.

    Hi Richard
If you haven't already - remove all ebay cookies via Safari-Preferences-Security-Show Cookies; using the filter to reveal just ebay ones.
After that - ebay will still occasionally think you need to log in, sometimes from intentional security efforts, and sometimes mid-listing due a problem with their site & safari (I've never found a good way out of that, although often opening a new tab/window  shows me still logged in & able to do most things, including sometimes) saving a draft.
If you still find yourself logged out every time, there must be something else amiss - start by testing briefly in a New User Account

Is there a simple way to  stay logged into the discussions (even if mac goes to sleep or is shut down)?
This has been a continuing "issue" with these forums.  I'm not sure what the official design point is.  Do you stay logged in or get forceable logged out.  It has varied overtime.
You do stay logged in under these situations:
-- It depends on what browser you are using.
-- Try firefox.  Works for me.
    -- Enabled cookies.
-- could be what is in your cookies.  Clean out what is related to these forums to get a fresh start.
-- you need to have an active web page to one of the forums.  It can be minimized. You seem to get logged out when you have no pages.
--- Even with all this, I get logged out about one a week.
Any interaction with the server for the forum software will reset the logout clock.
